Anne Hathaway in Vivienne Westwood at ‘Colossal’ premiere: stunning?

Premiere of Neon's 'Colossal' - Arrivals

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis and Anne’s husband Adam Shulman at the LA premiere of Colossal. First, let’s get the superficial stuff out of the way: I love everything about Anne’s look here. For years, Anne has been wearing her hair shorter, and I didn’t realize until just now how much I missed her long, curly/wavy hair. She has great hair! It’s so bouncy! So, her hair looks amazing. I also love her Vivienne Westwood jumpsuit. It’s a great look for a more low-key premiere. She also just looks glowing and fabulous in general – great pale skin, sincere smile, etc. Maybe she’s happy because her husband grew some scruff and now he looks a bit more manly.

As for the not-so-superficial stuff, I’ve been reading so much about this movie this week. The plot is strange, but everyone who sees the movie says it’s really good. It’s about a drunk party girl (played by Anne) who flees New York and goes back to her hometown to dry out and get her life together. She reconnects with an ex, she continues drinking and when she drinks and plays in one particular sandbox, she has a giant avatar who sets about destroying South Korea. Reportedly, the film is about toxic masculinity, alcoholism, getting your life together and a lot of other stuff. Sudeikis and Hathaway did a great joint interview with NY Magazine – you can read it here. Jason comes across as a little bit “what about men’s rights?!” but he backs down and sort of acknowledges his dude-privilege.

To promote the film, Anne also chatted with Rich Juzwiak at Jezebel, and this piece has sort of gone viral – you can read it here. Juzwiak talks about the internet’s history of covering Anne and the cottage industry of Professional Bloggers Hating On Hathaway. Anne talks about how ever since her Oscar campaign for Les Miserables – the birth of Hathahate for many people – she is always asked about “how does it feel to be so unliked?” There’s no real takeaway quote from this piece, but she comes across really well and… dare I say, more likeable.

What…happened to her face? The wonky eye. No Anne! Why!!!!!

    • Margo S. says:

I was just thinking the same thing!!!!! Why would she mess with her face?! She looked great!

    • Stella says:

She’s definitely done something. Botox forehead – hence the wonk eye – and I think something around the nasolabial folds, too. Her smile can’t go any farther than it does without sticking. Plumping/fillers?

    • detritus says:

apparently if your nerves don’t run the typical way you can accidentally hit the nerve and it can mess up your face while it wears off.

      or ptosis.

or she’s really into Katy Perry.

The ‘tox is the easiest to cure out of the three.

    • Happy21 says:

YES! I was just coming to say this. WTF is up with that?

    • minx says:

I always thought she was so pretty. It’s sad that she felt she had to mess with her face.

    • SM says:

I was surprised to read all the positive things in this post. Nothing, not the hair or make up or outfit can distract from the wonky eye. Why, oh why?

    • Suki says:

This is the same song and dance every time.

Beautiful star is critiqued for her appearance i.e. she’s goofy, she’s not pretty enough, she’s just okay, she looks so average, she’s not THAT special OR ‘she’s ageing’, ‘gaining weight’, ‘starting to look bad.’

The actress has this information fed back to them OR discovers it themselves and so has work done.

People then jump on the bandwagon to say:

‘But she looked so great before, why would she do this?’

      REALLY people?! Come on!

  2. trollontheloose says:

I like it because it’s minimalist with no jewelry. But I have a problem : the waist is sloppy and the crotch as well. if it was tailored it would have been fantastic. I am not a fan of the overzealous khol (crayon). too harsh but she looks happy. She went for a look of not worry be happy

  3. QQ says:

She looks good, the movie sounded interesting to me months ago so i’d probably watch it

  4. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

Your eyes must have been damaged after looking at that horrible Melania glamour photo from yesterday to think Anne looks stunning on that red carpet. This is a black culotte jumpsuit. You think about that for a minute. Her hair and makeup does look good, though.

Now, if you are talking about the new Elle cover she is on, then we can talk about stunning.

  5. Anners says:

She looks really pretty (and happy) but there’s something different – her face doesn’t look quite like it used to. Not sure if it’s surgery or aging. She looks good though. I have hair envy.

  6. Adele Dazeem says:

You’re right, that hair is GREAT. She looks happy, healthy, comfortable in her own skin.

  7. Anitas says:

I like it. She wears it well and looks healthy and happy. I think motherhood really suits her.

I read that Jezebel piece and it’s a real car crash. Not from her side of course, she came across as thoughtful and mature. I’m a regular Jezebel reader, but sometimes I hate myself for it, it’s such a problematic site in so many ways.

    • detritus says:

Rich J is a giant dickbag filled with other smaller, stupider, more self interested and hypocritical dickbags.

He posted a crotch shot of her, and was complicit in sh*tting on her, then forgot about it because he doesn’t care about women, not really.

She came across incredibly mature, forgiving, gracious and self aware. Didn’t once mention the fact that RICK POSTED AN ARTICLE ASSAULTING HER.

      omg,

      rage aneurysm, brb

      • Millenial says:

I just read the Jezebel piece. Wow. The fact that she had to sit through an interview with a guy who posted an upskirt photo of her is gross and disgusting.

And I agree. Jezebel is a deeply problematic blog, for many reasons. For me, I’ve trimmed down the amount I read there, just because it’s a constant barrage of negativity. I can’t remember the last time I read a Jezebel article where they LIKED something.

  8. Jayna says:

I love Anne. She looks great. He has such a beautiful complexion and hair.

    • Sarah says:

I have always like Anne. I never understood the hate of a woman who wants to be liked and wants to please her audience. It seems so mean and counterintuitive. Like, we love actors who treat fans like dirt?? Makes no sense to me. Anne seems like a decent, real and kind human being, and I give her lots of kudos for that.

  9. Chinoiserie says:

She looks SO much better with the long hair, I wonder if her hair just takes forever to grow like mine because you would have though she would have got it back as fast as possible after Les Mis.

  10. robyn says:

I love her! Long or short hair she is a classy woman imo and it makes me a little sad how people love to berate her for being a little too perfect and dignified.

    • Sarah says:

Agreed. I don’t get why people prefer someone like JLaw (who has been blessfully absent for a while) who talks about farting, peeing in sinks and what a regular gal she is! Or K Stewart, who seems like a real crank. Or Reese W, who verbally abuses a cop.
Thanks, but I’ll pay my hard-earned $$ to see Anne instead.

  11. Lucy says:

There’s GOSLING all over her husband’s face. It shocked me. She does look lovely, indeed. And I need Ocean’s 8!!!!!

  12. Daria says:

Did Jason not get the memo that it’s a premiere? Why is he in jeans and a t-shirt? Anne looks nice. I don’t like her husband’s blue suit/black shirt combo.

  13. Kitten says:

I think she looks GORGEOUS. Hair is on-point!

  14. littlemissnaughty says:

I have major hair envy, it looks great. She looks great in general, I like her outfit a lot. But … the Melania eyes … I almost don’t want to mention it because it’s her face and she can do whatever she wants but … why? Her lovely big eyes!

  15. Indiana Joanna says:

I guess because I don’t follow much celeb news, I don’t understand why so many people took issue with her. I’ve only seen a couple of her movies and she was great in Rachel Getting Married. And I loved her performance in The Devil Wears Prada.

I think she is really beautiful but I hope she steps away from the botox and whatever else she’s doing to artificially enhance her looks.

    • KB says:

She morphed into this manic pixie person when she was campaigning for her Oscar for Les Miserables. It was like fake humility combined with a baby voice. It was incredibly cloying, but she seems to be back to normal now.

  16. Aida says:

I’ve actually always liked her. It has nothing to do with personality or gossipy stuff — I just think she’s genuinely talented. How many names can you come up with that can sing really well, act really well, and are really pretty? She’s got a heck of a lot going for her. I’m glad to see many of her ‘trouble’ spots have cleared — remember the bad boyfriend with the legal problems? Not to mention all the Oscar hate. She seems happy as a Mom and wife — I’m okay with that 🙂

  17. teacakes says:

I think she looks gorgeous (hope to god she doesn’t mess with her face in the future, she’s only 34 and I shudder to think this will be the fate of all early 30something actresses soon) and I never understood the hate she got over her Oscar campaign – she had NOTHING on people like Natalie Portman and Leonardo Dicaprio in terms of awards season irritation levels.

I’m glad to see she’s back and the movie is apparently good.

  18. Lulu says:

I have no idea if it’s self-inflicted in her case but we’re close in age and my eye has started doing that naturally. It’s not noticeable in person but in photographs it looks super weird like I have two totally different eyes.

    • Lafawnda says:

That’s been happening to me too! I just turned 36 and I’ve noticed it for the past year or two, especially in pictures. I’ve never had a drop of Botox so whatever it is, it is happening naturally to me. I don’t know what the cause is.

  19. Rocio says:

She looks so beautiful. The best she’s ever looked. Go, AnnE!

  20. squeezeo'lime says:

the new face suits her better, she’s prettier

  21. bella says:

I love her and will watch anything she’s in! She looks absolutely gorgeous here. I think she is the whole package–talented, beautiful, and nice!
