Bella Hadid ‘goes hard’ for workouts: ‘I don’t like to do the whole yoga thing’

2017 CFDA Awards

While I am half-Indian, I don’t have yoga in my blood. I do think I’m genetically predisposed to enjoy meditation, but that’s a different story. I’m sure that if I was truly exposed to some great quality yoga classes, maybe I would become a convert. But as it is, I prefer my workouts with some weight training and lots of cardio. I need to really sweat my ass off and feel some muscle soreness. Bella Hadid is the same way. She’s tried yoga and she’s not into it. She prefers to “go hard” during her two-hour workout sessions. That’s what she said as one of the latest spokespeople for Nike, because Nike is apparently just hiring Instamodels now instead of athletes??

Bella Hadid ain’t no yogi! E! News’ Sibley Scoles caught up with the supermodel at the Nike Cortez launch event at The Grove in Los Angeles on Sunday and the brunette surprisingly admitted that she’s not into the yoga craze. Looks like someone won’t be perfecting her Happy Baby pose any time soon!

“When I work out I love to work out. I train and I work out hard for two hours,” said Bella. “I don’t like to do the whole yoga thing. I think yoga is calming and it’s amazing, but if I am going to go for it I am going to go hard.”

The Victoria’s Secret model did admit to Sibley that she isn’t always jazzed about hitting the gym, but that once she’s there, she gets focused on the task at hand.

“I wouldn’t say I get out of bed and I am like, ‘I am going to go work out!’ but when I get to the gym—rock and roll.”

As for the stereotype that models don’t eat, Bella says that’s anything but true and joked with Sibley. “You saw me shove a donut…in my mouth. I didn’t think anyone was watching!”

As for how the tasty treat was? “It was bomb,” said Bella.

[From E! News]

Last year, ahead of the Victoria’s Secret runway show, Bella talked about how much she works out and how much weight she’s lost. She lamented the fact that she’d lost so much weight and she wished that her boobs and ass were bigger. What astounds me is that she doesn’t seem to see a correlation/causal link: as long as she goes hard and works out two hours a day, her ass is always going to be tiny. But as I said up top, I’m the same way – I always feel like my workout has been a complete waste if I’m not drenched in sweat.

Her ass won’t be tiny if she does squats, no?

    • rty says:

She’d have to do them with weights and eat more calories to build muscle. It looks like she just does cardio to burn calories and stay skinny, and nothing else. I’ve seen her very recent bikini pics and she has zero muscle definition. She could use some yoga for sure.

    • hannah89 says:

lol…you can still be thin and do squats, darling.

cardio isnt the only thing you do to stay thin. though a lot of women think thats the case – any trainer will tell you thats a complete misconception.

She is a smoker, as a lot of models are. I don’t get this embrace of a healthy lifestyle while still smoking? Maybe to lessen the guilt of smoking, working out helps?

    • Red says:

She’s probably not working out to be healthy. She wants to be thin. Smoking helps that too.

    • hannah89 says:

smoking stifles appetite, much like some sort of weird meal replacement.

Id say probably 70% of people in the industry (fashion and entertainment) smoke cigarettes. No joke. Unfortunately it’s a popular networking tool too. Also with the high stress and anxiety of these jobs often people turn to it.

She is a very beautiful girl…but it looks like nothing is going on behind those eyes

  4. Joannie says:

I apologize for coming off as a meanie but imo she is so homely. I dont get the appeal. She doesnt look like she exercises often or at all.

I was just thinking the same and trying to think of a way to say it without being bitchy. I just don’t see “model material” when I look at her. But it’s subjective: I have always thought Kate Moss was most unfortunate looking.

    • Velvet Elvis says:

I think it’s the very unbecoming nose job she got that makes her not pretty in my opinion.

    Zzzzzzzzzz.

  6. Valerie says:

Fair enough , but not all yoga is the same, at all. Go to a Bikram class and then tell me how yoga isn’t a sweaty, full body workout 🙂

    • rty says:

Yeah. Check out gypsyon__ or bananablondie108 on insta and tell me this “yoga thing” is not hard.

    • Luca76 says:

Yes and I’ll say that I sometimes feel just as sore after an Ashtanga class as I do after weight training. Everyone is different.

    • Christine says:

ITA yoga is and can be just as hard as a full on workout. I always walk out of my classes drenched in sweat!

There are many different types of yoga and perhaps she has only tried a meditative or restorative class??

    • shelbylake says:

Agreed! Or a heated power yoga class. I sweat the whole way through!

    • Ange says:

Some people just prefer high impact/fast exercise. I recognise the benefits of yoga but it does nothing for me as a workout. If it was all I could do I’d stop exercising pretty quick.

Maybe she believes the Kardashian lies? You know, post pics of yourself working out 7 days a week, and somehow your ass and breasts get bigger while your arms, legs, and waist get smaller.

  8. hot and bothered says:

Yoga is not meant to be a workout. It is a spiritual practice that recognizes the connection between physical and mental disciplines or practices. If you are only doing asana (physical/posture) practice, you aren’t practicing traditional yoga as it originated in India, but participating in cultural appropriation of a spiritual practice from India. Physical fitness benefits can result from some types of asana practice, but it is not the point, except to the extent that asana can be a moving meditation or help prepare you for seated meditation.

  9. Bree says:

power yoga, especially heated is a MAJOR workout! I have run two full marathons and now do this practice three times a week. Its KILLER!
