One of the half-amusing/half-sad things about having a reality star as president is that actual celebrities have tons of stories about meeting Donald Trump. Trump has been a gigantic a–hole for many, many years and he’s pissed off a lot of people. As we know from the election, he’s also sexually assaulted and sexually harassed dozens (if not hundreds) of women in his life. So… maybe not so amusing. But this is our existence as a country now. So of course Brooke Shields has a story about Donald Trump. Brooke Shields has been famous since she was a child. Brooke basically knows every famous person in America. And on Watch What Happens Live, she told her Trump story.
Brooke Shields is the latest woman to publicly recall the time that Donald Trump tried to ask her out. She did so on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last night. Turns out, the president was using “people would love it” as a qualifier for anything and everything even in the 90s.
“I was on location doing a movie and he called me right after he gotten a divorce,” Shields told Cohen. “And he said, ‘I really think we should date because you’re America’s sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man and the people would love it.”
But ‘America’s sweetheart’ used a pretty clichéd line to reject Trump.
“I have a boyfriend, he’s not really going to be happy about it,” Shields recalled to Cohen. She also noted that it was after he was separated from Marla Maples.
I’m trying to get the timeline straight – Trump divorced Marla Maples circa 1997, and Brooke was actually married to Andre Agassi at the time. Trump is a tennis fan – he would have known that Brooke and Andre were together and I guess he just didn’t care. I’m surprised he wanted to date Brooke, seeing as how she was (at the time) a brunette in her 30s. Anyway, I’m glad she rejected him. And it makes me barfy that he was using that pickup line on any woman.
Here’s the video, if you just want to see the Trump stuff, it starts around the 2:30 mark, but the whole video is enjoyable just because Brooke Shields knew EVERYBODY. She even hung out with Andy Warhol!

Gotta love the assumption that other people date because “people would love it”. Not because he likes her, wants to get to know her, etc. But then, he’s a sub-human asshat, so why would he think like a normal person?

There is a picture of the two of them that I can’t find anymore, and they look like a hot coked up mess at a club. Their eyes are like baseballs, and 45 is hanging all over Mel, and she is looking budget with a wiglet. I wish I could find it again because it is hilarious.
He and Melania were once very compatible, and he was in his charm mode, but when he turns, it is ugly and mean. I don’t think she thought it would happen to her.

The bigger question is what movie was Shields working on in 1997?
Brook knows everyone because her mother was dragging her to Studio 54 while she was still a young teen. (I’m a little jealous of that. I would have loved to hang at Studio 54)

I don’t think she brought it up on her own. The host was playing a game of “which celebrity is that” and it so happened they had a shot of her with Donald Trump. She then proceeded to answer the question of who the person in the photo was, and then had the accompanying story to go with it when the host asked “Did he ask you out?”
Maybe journalists should have asked “Did he ask you out?” to every star in Hollywood during the presidential campaign.

Doesnt surprise me, Trump has a long history of being a serial Skirt chaser and hitting on all the famous and or beautiful woman. He famously bragged that he could have landed Princess Diana and supposely tried to woo her with so many flowers that she told her friends it creeped her out. Trump still has a obession with her. Its one of the reasons why his UK trip keeps getting postponed. I think his handlers are afraid he’ll start bragged about how he could have landed Princess Di and Harry and or Will will take a swing at him
