Do you remember when Blake Lively wore a whopping seven outfits in one day, when she was promoting All I See is You? In my memory, Lively “only” wore five outfits, which is still somewhat excessive. Zendaya stepped up her already amazing fashion game during her promotional duties for The Greatest Showman in New York yesterday, which was surprisingly nominated for two Golden Globes yesterday. It got nominated in the Best Picture – Comedy or Musical category and Hugh Jackman received a nom for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy. I would say that Hugh’s face on the cover of Variety might have helped, but nominations were due at the end of October. It must be a good film, but I guess we’ll see. Hugh has a lot of goodwill in the industry.
Zendaya’s first outfit was this metallic gold Giuseppe di Morabito coat paired with Paul Andrew heels and a Bienen-Davis handbag. (Thanks to People for the fashion IDs for this story as well as the timeline of Zendaya’s outfits.) This look is gorgeous and I love her loose curls and peachy makeup. She wrote on Instagram that it was an “accidental reference” to the Golden Globes. That post is below.
Her second ensemble, which she wore to the Today Show, was this Mary Katrantzou polka dot jacket and cocktail gown complete with Casadei heels. This was my least favorite, but at least she didn’t go with matchy heels. The goofy ruffle at the bottom is just much and I dislike the large polka dots on the top.
On Live with Kelly and Ryan, Zendaya wore this purple and orange high waisted tie-front skirt by Stella Jean paired with a striped shirt from the same designer. I really dislike the deconstructed dress shirt trend, but this isn’t that bad. At least it doesn’t have ruffles or ties hanging off the cuffs of the sleeves. That skirt is incredible though and I love the abstract black and blue pattern across the front.
Later Zendaya stepped out in a sleeveless Chloe bell bottomed jumpsuit and leather vest. Her shoes, which are giving me life, are by Sergio Rossi. (I couldn’t find that exact pair, but look at these black and green geometric patchwork Sergio Rossi boots at Zappos. They’re $1,050, which is supposedly 40% off.) The mom in me is thinking she must be cold in that thin fabric and with her arms bare. The people behind her are wearing full coats and it got down to 27° Fahrenheit in New York City last night. I’m thinking she could have worn a velvet jumpsuit in a solid color with long sleeves, which would have highlighted those killer boots.
Finally here she is in a shiny forest green coat by Marni with a wide black and white print collar. I like that the hem flares out to an a-line, that’s a different kind of silhouette for a jacket. Plus it has an interesting texture to it. The coat is funky without looking like a costume. She was smart to pair it with solid lace-up boots.
Due to the quirkiness of some of these outfits, my favorite is the gold embossed jacket, paired with simple ankle strap heels. That’s just a beautiful holiday outfit, although I’m sure you’d only want to wear it inside when it’s cold. Zendaya pulls everything else off though as well because she’s a fashion chameleon. As People reminds us, she’s said that she studies retro fashion and finds it inspiring. “I think I’m always just very inspired by the fashion of the decades. When you go back in time and kind of explore those silhouettes and kind of find a modern way to do it, everything in fashion just repeats. It’s just the same thing, just repeating.”
I love watching shows set in the past and seeing the fashion and how it’s interpreted by the costume designers. I liked Netflix’s GLOW, which is set in the 80s, for this reason, because the fashion was spot on and not over the top. Zendaya seems to strike that balance with her style as well, she knows how to push boundaries and only very rarely does she go too far. She looks like she’s having fun with it too.
Update There’s a sixth outfit and it involves a sweater with a teddy bear in a tuxedo! This is by Ralph Lauren, as is her puffy coat. Also I forgot to mention the time she wore this velvet gown with a sheer front and horse heads covering her boobs. She definitely got it wrong then.
Work!

She’s beautiful but something about her is annoying…
….how hating starts…*cue bandwagon*
Yep..the hate is coming… How come it is always the female stars who are annoying? Adoration for a while and then annoying?
We sure do like to build women up and tear them down.
Golden Globes look
I think my favorite is that brightly colored skirt and the striped blouse. Wow, she is so beautiful and lanky and can carry off anything.
Yeah this. Very beautiful girl.
She could definitely play Lena Horne in a biopic should the day come.
Mine, too! love the shantung skirt and tucked striped blouse. Gorgeous.
Secondarily, she can really pull off the all gold outfit.
Agreed – the shirt and beautiful skirt is incredible and she looks beyond stunning in it. I also really like the gold jacket and the green jacket/dress. She is so awesome – and such a great role model for my daughter. Love her and so glad we discovered her nearly a decade ago on Shake It Up!
Same. That outfit is a lot of fun and youthful and i want it!
Agree! Best outfit. Followed closely by the Gold. Ah, to be young and gorgeous.
I like the first outfit – the gold coat.
Me too. All the gold is a bit matchy-matchy, but who cares. That coat is perfection.
Me too! But the pink and orange skirt and striped shirt make her look amazing too.
My faves are the two coats: the gold and then the green. I love Zendaya. She has such great personal style and I love that she takes risks and gets that fashion is meant to be fun.
She looks really glam. I love the pinstripe shirt tucked into a skirt.
Ha ha ha the reference to Blake’s 5 million outfits in the same day, I miss that ambitious fashion obsessed Blake. Those were fun breezy times for gossip fans.
She is such a beautiful young woman. May her star continue to rise!
I completely agree, Sherry. I only know about her from reading Celebitchy. She is gorgeous, but I do not like any of the outfits. This is the opinion of a fashion dunce, though.
My kids used to watch “Shake It Up” and that’s where I know her from. I’m happy she has been able to transition into a film career from that show.
I don’t like any of them but I think I’m just not into those type of.. is it mod looks? So maybe if I had to choose. the first one. I usually love her style but not this time. bleh.
Man, does she have a lanky build on her. I’m surprised she never went into modeling given her height (5’10”). She does have an eye for fashion, though. She’s certainly never boring.
I love a thick brow but it’s an art to do it without looking like Anthony Davis. Her makeup artist got it right 3/5 times. I really enjoy her face.
Her hair and makeup are flawless.
I love all the outfits, except the boots with the leather/pleather/whatever vest outfit. The gold is amazing!
That ghastly leather’s matched to her eyeshadow. *Shudder*
The Stella Jean skirt and shirt look fit her beautifully, and the colors are perfect.
In the second pic with the green jacket (pic no. 7) – who is the GLORIOUS young man on the right with the black and white print jacket and matching hat?? His facial expression is everything I did not know I needed this morning. LOL. 🤣
Law Roach, her awesome stylist! Check him out on Instagram @luxurylaw
I’m partial to the man in the bowler hat myself
The high waisted bright skirt and shirt combo is my fave. Such a tiny waist and tall lean frame… so jelly of her body! I’m short with a large chest so I envy the long torso look… pretty girl. Hoping she is as good as the hype surrounding her.
I am in constant awe of how much she GETS fashion. Yes, I know she works with a stylist (Law Roach, who’s a genius of sorts), but something about the way she carries every outfit, added to how easily she can go from an extremely casual outfit to wearing outfits like these…it’s amazing.
The Stella Jean skirt is amazing but the last pic with the golden coat is giving me Old Hollywood glamour vibes.
Anyway she is so gorgeous that she looks great even with the polka dot dress. So so beautiful, my girl crush.
I cannot choose! I love the golden outfit and the teddy bear sweater one.
I also really love the teddy bear outfit. My favourite of course, been the bright highwaist skirt. Wish I could wear highwaist like that…*sob*”
The gold reminds me of that Bruno Mars video wear she wears a stunning shimmery(sparkly?) vasarcé dress. She was mesmerizing in that video.
I loved every single outfit but that first one is fire.
She is a gorgeous girl, and usually like her fashion choices, but I think all of these are fug!
I usually love her style. The exception on this story is the one with the pouffy thing at the bottom. And I went to the link with the horse dress. What? But usually she dresses beautifully.
Yes. The gold coat is the best.
Sigh. Zendaya rocks. So cool and effortless. She wears the clothes; not the other way around. Favourite outfit? The gold coat and the one with the orange and pink skirt.
[*More Zendaya, please.*]
