The Razzie nominations are out and ‘Transformers’ leads with nine nominations

Hooray for The Razzies! I don’t always agree with them, but I am so happy they exist. The narcissistic film industry needs to be reminded on occasion that their sh-t does stink. Does any other arts industry have awards like the Razzies? I couldn’t find anything similar for the music industry. I’d love to hear those nominations.

Anyway, if you need a refresher, The Golden Raspberries, or Razzies, are mock awards presented during awards season that acknowledge the worst movies, performances, scripts etc. of the past year. Some actors are nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year, like Sandra Bullock and Eddie Redmayne. This year’s list was just released and even though I haven’t seen many of the films on it, I am sure they all deserve to be there. Leading the nominations is Transformers: The Last Knight, which will come as no surprise as the Razzies traditionally acknowledges the Transformers franchise and T:TLK was just a money grab film. [From USA Today]

I saw Baywatch because I promised I would. Going in with my expectations bottomed out made it more enjoyable but yeah, it totally deserves a place on this list. I half-watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on an international flight while monitoring my sick son. Definitely deserves its nominations. I laughed a lot during A Bad Moms Christmas but not only does Susan Sarandon belong on the list, a few others probably should have been included as well. I never made it to Snatched, but I can’t believe Amy Schumer out-acted Goldie Hawn. Maybe that was an expectation thing, like they didn’t think Amy was going to be decent anyway.

Nothing else surprises me. I am sure Michael Bay saw these nominations coming a mile out and laughed all the way to the bank when they were announced. I kind of love “highest paid movie star” Marky Mark getting called out again for his acting. I realize he too made a fortune. but I think he wants to be taken more seriously as an actor. My favorites are all the nominations for mother! I’m sure everyone involved in that project thought they had an esoteric masterpiece on their hands. Aronofsky was probably hoping that people who ‘didn’t get it’ would claim to like it so they’d appear intellectual. Fun fact: my parents loved everyone in the cast of mother! so much, they decided to go see the film without having any idea what the story was about before they went. I wish I had recorded the call of my mother trying to describe what they had seen when they’d returned. I still laugh about it. And they still don’t know what the hell was going on.

As always, the Worst Combo category is the best, “Johnny Depp & his worn-out drunk routine.” *finger kiss* Razzie winners will be announced March 3, 2018. Good luck to all the nominees.

Lol the Razzies are always good for a laugh. Transformers is such trash and again Mark can’t act his way out of a paper bag. In the heels of everyone (rightly) calling him out for making more money when he can’t act this is bad timing.
The biggest laugh is from mother becuase they will probably take it the hardest. You know because it was from the “genius director” and the script was “brilliant” or whatever they want us to believe.

  2. Aiobhan Targaryen says:

Aww, Unforgettable was a fun Lifetime film. The ending was dumb as hell but I enjoyed it overall.

The other nominations just feel like they are just jumping on a bandwagon. They are right but nothing here is a surprise.

  3. Loopy says:

Bwahahaha but i love it when the acors actually attend and are good sports about it, Jennifer Lawrence is very goofy she might just show up to accept it.

    • Coco says:

I love when actors show up for it too!

      • Mia4s says:

Halle Berry showing up for Catwoman was legendary! So funny.

Sadly I saw that Transformers movie, it was literal garbage, deserves the hate.

Overall the Razzies know to punch up, not down, so that makes them enjoyable.

    • Red Snapper says:

I hope Emma Watson wins because she is the *worst*! Like, super terrible.

  4. Jane2222 says:

I think the Mother nominations are ridiculous, actually. You might hate the film but it was an attempt to say something serious about misogyny – and the performances were top class.

  5. Rachel says:

The razzie are a joke tho. They’re supposed to call out the lack of self awreness of the industry but they probably should start with themself. Those picks are lame and obvious, I mean Transformers, Baywatch. As for the Mother! nominations, they were just looking for attention because they are getting increasingly irrevelant. It’s so obvious regardless of how you feel about the movie, her performance was universally praised. Like she did not get a nomination for that dumb movie Passengers but she got on for this?

  6. Snazzy says:

“Johnny Depp & his worn-out drunk routine” (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales)

    I love this so much

  7. Nancy says:

Fifty Shades Darker for the win. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan deserve the right to be called the worst. Kim Basinger earned her nod as well. Poor Dakota, being the daughter of a somewhat one hit wonder (Melanie Griffith) Working Girl opened the door for her, but her lack of acting ability shut it the door quickly. Sound familiar Kate Hudson. Also see Susan Sarandon’s name up there, hope she wins the loser award. Think Hollywood is done with her.

  8. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch says:

I saw the Emoji movie. It was complete garbage. I was left with the impression that the writers actually hate kids/teens and made this movie as an insult to their target audience. Tweens were portrayed as stupid, incompetent, pathetic, emotionally and socially impaired and addicted to technology. Please avoid this film.

  9. Lucy2 says:

Cruise, Satandon, Wahlberg, and Depp getting knocked with a Razzie nomination?
    I like it.

  10. Ozogirl says:

Fifty Shades Darker was awful. It deserves all the razzies!

I didn’t think Baywatch was that bad… It wasn’t fantastic, but not the worst.
