I could have done without this saga this week. As we now know, Don Trump Jr. carried on a lengthy affair with Aubrey O’Day, a reality star/singer and former Celebrity Apprentice contestant. They met on Celebrity Apprentice circa 2011, when Don’s wife Vanessa was pregnant with their third child. That didn’t stop Don from telling Aubrey that his marriage was basically over and she believed him. Their affair went on for months and then it suddenly stopped. So why did it stop?
Donald Trump Jr.‘s alleged affair with former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Aubrey O’Day came to an abrupt end in 2012 when his wife, Vanessa, discovered “sexy” text messages between the pair. A source who worked with Celebrity Apprentice — where Trump Jr. and O’Day first connected when she was a contestant and he was an adviser on the show — tells PEOPLE that President Trump’s eldest son was in the shower and his phone was on the bedside table when “sexy texts” came through from O’Day.
“This is how Vanessa found out and the affair ended,” says the source familiar with the situation.
“To Don Jr. [the affair] was very exciting,” the insider adds. “Aubrey was very, very into Don. He liked her but she was definitely more keen on him.”
Last Thursday, Page Six broke the news that Vanessa had filed for divorce from Trump Jr. after more than 12 years of marriage. The outlet was also the first to report on Trump Jr.’s alleged fling with O’Day, a former singer in the girl group Danity Kane. Although the couple went through a rocky time after Vanessa uncovered the alleged affair, the source tells PEOPLE that “everything seemed to be patched after that as Vanessa had more kids afterwards.” (Trump Jr. and Vanessa share five children together: Kai Madison, 10, Donald III, 9, Tristan, 6, Spencer, 5, and Chloe, 3.)
“They were a very sweet couple and Vanessa was lovely,” the source says. “Aubrey always seemed really stuck-up.”
When People Magazine bothers to put together an official version of this mess, then you know the gossip landscape has been forever tarnished by this f–ked up family. Us Weekly also had a different-but-similar version of this story (Us Weekly put it on their f–king cover), where Vanessa found the messages and then Vanessa called up Aubrey:
“She called Aubrey with her kids on the phone,” a source says in the new issue of Us Weekly. Vanessa’s intent was to shame O’Day away from her husband — and she didn’t intend to back down. Says another insider, “Vanessa went crazy and was super jealous.”
Since the March 15 announcement that Trump Jr. and his wife, both 40, were divorcing, multiple sources confirmed to Us that their marriage was torn apart by far more than the pressures of being part of a presidential family. As Us Weekly reported, for six long years, Trump Jr. and Vanessa had held on to the shocking secret that he had had an affair with O’Day, lasting from the end of 2011 into March of the next year.
And the romance was very intense. “When it started, he and Aubrey were very serious all of a sudden,” says an O’Day insider. “He told her it was over with his wife, that they were separated and he didn’t love her — all of that stuff.” O’Day, now 34, believed him. “Aubrey fell for him hard,” adds the insider. “She thought they were going to be together for real.”
Again, I feel sorry for Aubrey O’Day. I don’t know her, I don’t know anything about her, but my God. Every element of this was terrible. And why did Vanessa stay with him beyond that? Ugh.

So that’s what I didn’t understand…she got her kids on the phone with her when she called him?!?!? If that’s what they’re saying here then that’s completely f*cked up. You don’t use your kids as pawns in your marital arguments. Gross.
This is all based on what O’Day and unnamed sources have allegedly said. If Vanessa comes out and says something about O’Day, or if O’Day is named in the divorce documents, I could believe it.
What state are the papers filed in? We might never know if it is no fault. Are there states that still let you claim infidelity?
A married man told a single woman that he was no longer in love with his wife? I’M SHOCKED! Women fall for this every single day. Sounds like the leaker is in the Trump Jr. camp. Every comment puts the blame on O’Day and makes her sound like the pursuer. “He just wasn’t that into her” is the tone. Either that, or Vanessa’s people leaked it so O’Day will feel defensive and spill the tea to help Junior look even worse to a judge. An affair is always going to be much much much more exciting than the same old same old. Women in affairs with married men shouldn’t be too flattered. It’s not because you’re better than the wife. It’s just that you’re novel. Novelty wears off. Him cheating on his wife is proof of that.
It’s difficult for a lot of husbands to come second to children. When we get pregnant and have kids, we give them much more attention than our husbands (it’s only natural!). Big baby-men can’t handle it and have to find another woman to make them feel like a special boy again. Spoiled, immature baby man.
“We’re splitting up” or “I will leave her for you.” This strategy is as old as marriage. Why would you believe him? At the very least, wait until his divorce is final and then, go right ahead. Men will say ANYTHING to maintain access to a woman they want. Why would you want a man that would leave his wife and break apart a family with small children just to be with you? I realize that, at first, it makes you feel oh-so-special that he would do that FOR YOU. But at the end of the day, do you REALLY want to be with a person that would do that?! I’m asking honestly, because I personally would not want to spend my life with a scumbag like that. Like I said, if he is truly unhappy, he needs to divorce his wife and be free to be with someone else. Otherwise, he’s just a scumbag that wants to have his cake and eat it too, and has zero intention of leaving his wife to build a life with someone else.

I think this is all a big distraction from the real reason they are divorcing. I’m sure he cheated, but I keep reading speculative stories that they are just trying to protect assets via a divorce.

An old affair means nothing as far as divorce. It has no bearing. And I don’t believe it’s about assets. I think he pays her little attention and doesn’t try at all. She’s divorcing him because she got tired of it. He probably got worse after Big Donnie was elected president.

I don’t feel bad for Aubrey. Trump Jr was very obviously a married man with kids. They are both to blame. I don’t fault Vanessa for the way she reacted. Imagine being cheated by the father of your children and then finding proof.

If you look at photo’s of them together early in the marriage you could see genuine affection between them so that’s why i can buy Vanessa going all crazy jealous on Aubrey. Their kids are pretty close together in age so there clearly was some passion there.
