Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan announce they’ve ‘lovingly chosen to separate’

The Dizzy Feet Foundation 5th Annual ‘Celebration of Dance Gala’

I think a lot of us had been wondering about Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan for a few years. There was no big rumor about them, it was mostly just a vibe of “we’re spending more time apart and doing different things.” There were always whispers that Channing was fooling around, just as there were rumors that Channing wanted another baby and Jenna wanted a bigger career. But still, I thought they had merely hit a rough patch and they would work it out. They have not. They announced their split last night. They’re both 37 years old, they met in 2006 and married in 2009. They were together “forever” by Hollywood standards. Their daughter, Everly, is almost 5 years old. Here’s their joint statement:

“Hey world!

So…We have something we would like to share.

First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into “alternative facts” 😉 So we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction.

We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna.”

[Statement via People]

I’ll admit that my first thought when I heard this was “I bet he has a sidepiece.” But for now, not even those dirt-diggers at Page Six can find anything like that. Page Six’s piece on “what really happened” amounts to “they were both working too much.” A source tells Page Six: “Channing has been working non-stop, with four movies announced for 2018 alone. It is hard on a marriage to be apart so much, especially when you have a young child. Plus Jenna is in pre-production for the movie, ‘Berlin I Love You.’” Yeah, I believe that – he was working on back-to-back projects and traveling a lot. And Jenna… wasn’t. I mean, she works, but not at Channing’s level. This has a vibe of Chris Pratt-Anna Faris too – growing pains for a marriage when the husband becomes a mega-star.

    She’s so damn hot omg

    • pwal says:

ITA!!! Pretty eyes, lovely face and a killer dancer body. Unless she’s an undercover mega b!tch, she will not have a problem.

      • Imqrious2 says:

She is gorgeous. They seemed so good together. Did anyone see them on (I think it was) “Lip Sync Battle” about 2 yrs. ago? OMG. HOT amplified!

    • Carol says:

I can see her with Brad Pitt. They would make a nice couple

      • Cannibell says:

Oooh, no. Why does everyone keep trying to pair off Brad? Jenna will be fine without that kind of drama in her life. (So will Everly & Channing.)

      • Rachel in August says:

Seriously? The stoner with the must-have-a-green-smoothie-in-the-morning health nut? I think she’s way out of Brad Pitt’s league.

      • Adele Dazeem says:

She’s out of his league. He’s such damaged old goods these days, she’s only 37!

      • FLORC says:

I can believe a few rebounds, but idk if she’d go for a lister drama like Brad Pitt. Shes been really low key.

      • Say what says:

She’s totally not Brad’s type tho. He goes for A list movie stars.

      • Pirate Dread says:

Brad needs to work on Brad. He desperately needs to fall in love with himself. He is not a bee, there is no reason to jump from flower to flower.

    • Shappalled says:

Ii guess she’s alright. If you like that sort of thing.

      • minx says:

Snark, right? I think lots of people, both male and female, would like “that sort of thing.”

    • Kitten says:

      She is absurdly beautiful.

      • Nancy says:

Isn’t she? We are so fixated on aesthetics in this country, but she is lovely.

      • Stumpycorgi says:

Yes, she is stunning! I watched the silly show, “Witches of East End” on Netflix and I believe she was pregnant during the first season, and totally gorgeous. Btw that show was a pleasant surprise. It’s fun, and all the women seem to have real faces. It also features Julia Ormond (with a beautiful laugh-lined face) and Mädchen Amik from Twin Peaks. If you want a break from this depressing dystopia we live in, give it a shot!

      • SlightlyAnonny says:

This. She married down. I’ve always thought CT had a face like a foot and a beautiful body but Jenna is stunning.

      • FLORC says:

That show was So Stupid and I watched every episode. Sad it was cancelled, but it got pretty nuts.
P.s. their house was insane. The fixtures and hardware. The crazy plaster vines and moldings on the ceilings. The copper and tiffany inspired lighting. I loved it. Then the dialogue that they were running out of money and their house was somehow viewed as a dilapidated shack came in and my then husband heard a diatribe for maybe a week over it. We were renovating our house. There was context.

      • FLORC says:

Shes a crazy great dancer too

      • Olive says:

i think she’s pretty but in a generic way. i find her face forgettable and every time it’s like i’m seeing her for the first time.

    • whatWHAT? says:

ha, that was my exact reaction.

      that red dress? holy crap!

    • minx says:

That top picture, she looks like a more va-voom Julianna Margulies.

    • Fhmom says:

      She photographs beautifully.

    • isabelle says:

      That third pic, holy cow.

    • Angela82 says:

Agreed. She looks like a hotter, less plastic, Megan Fox.

    • Yes, such a gorgeous woman!

  2. lolamd says:

For some reason this is quite sad to me.

    • Shappalled says:

Chin up. We’ll be OK. 😢

    • Milla says:

Divorce isn’t a joke, especially with kids involved. They’ve been together for over a decade, so yes, it is sad.

    • Margo S. says:

I know right?! My initial reaction was “oh no!” I had no idea I’d car so much. I’m not really even a fan of either of them lol! He seems pretty dim though and she actually seems really smart so I’m not surprised she’s like “peace I’m out.”

    • Fhmom says:

Me, too. They both seem like great people and this just sucks.

      • Spring says:

I agree — it’s sad. I really liked them together & thought that each of them came across as decent and caring. He’s made some insightful comments on feminism, porn, and rape culture. I feel like his intelligence and awareness have been underrated, simply because he can be goofy and doesn’t appear to need to prove himself as smart or cool. Whatever the reasons for their split, I admire and respect them both for being able to keep their separation private for awhile, proving that it can be done when both camps are committed to that.

    • Jess says:

Me too, they seemed to adore each other. I clicked on the article above this and saw Channing’s face as it was loading and thought, “it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a story on him, hope it’s not a divorce announcement…..nah they’d never break up”. I’m genuinely shocked!

  3. Wiffie says:

I was just watching their lip sync battle and loving their vibe. It’s sad, but they seem to have kept that same cool vibe in their press release, so best of luck to them.

  4. OSTONE says:

One of my favorite Hollywood couples! Step Up won’t be the same 🙁

  5. Alice says:

I find the idea sad that a couple of two actors cannot make it work due to lack of work for one of them. How long will Chris Hemsworth and his actress wife last then?

    • Millennial says:

Elsa won’t leave Chris, he’s too big of a star and she knows what a catch she is. I doubt he’d leave her either because they have small kids and he gives off a traditional vibe. I could see it happening later though.

    • Nicole says:

If you know anything about Elsa you’ll know she’s not leaving Chris

    • Kata says:

I think it’s more of a problem if they started out on the same level and one of them becomes a much much bigger star during the marriage. That has to be hard on the partner, especially if they are in the same bussiness. Chris was a bigger star than Elsa from the begining.

    • magnoliarose says:

You would have to use industrial strength tools to shake Elsa loose from that marriage. If Chris ever tries to leave he will learn the power of Elsa’s sticking ability. I can’t think of anything short of heinous crimes that would inspire her to leave him. If she’s stayed this long, she isn’t budging. Miley has a lot in common with her.

      • Truthie says:

“Industrial strength tools” — Ha!! It calls to mind using the Jaws of Life to cut her loose.

    • KBB says:

I don’t think those two will last. She will hang on for as long as possible, but he seems kind of checked out already. I don’t think it’s imminent, but I also don’t think they’ll be together ten years from now.

He’s 34, she’s 41. The age difference hasn’t been a big deal yet, but I think it will be. I don’t see them having the kind of love Hugh Jackman and his wife do to get past it. Maybe I’m wrong.

    • Plantpal says:

Oh my, that’s exactly where my brain went, too. The Helmsworkths …And these guys broke up because they weren’t spending enough time together??/ Do they understand they will be spending even MORE time alone once divorced.

    • BorderMollie says:

Maybe the problem lies when both are actors. It seems to work out a lot better when celebrities marry successful but not famous/artistic people. Geena Davis and Reese Witherspoon, to give a couple examples, have (seemingly) good marriages to non-famous but still professional men. Hollywood is clearly not the place to go for lasting marriages.

  6. naomipaige says:

I always thought he was batting for the other team. NOT that there is anything wrong with that!!! Surprised they lasted for as long as they did.

    • deets says:

      Isn’t he openly bi?

      • naomipaige says:

Is he? I never heard that. Interesting.

      • Abby says:

I don’t understand how he can have been openly anything other than with her. They’ve been together a decade and I’ve never seen a side piece in the media. Can someone point me to the references where he’s been seen with other guys/girls? I just haven’t seen any articles / posts about it. I’m not disbelieving.

      • magnoliarose says:

Yes, and isn’t it refreshing that he is open about it. I wish more famous people felt comfortable with their sexuality or felt the courage to be open. It is hard on relationships because partners don’t always want to be in the shadows or hidden like they are a shameful secret. They want to share in their partner’s career and be seen with them.

      • another kate says:

@magnoliarose “Yes and isn’t it refreshing that he is open about it.”

Is he? I’ve heard the rumors, but I’ve never seen anything where he commented on it. (I’m truly asking, not trying to be a jerk!)

      • Mia4s says:

WTF? I’m not saying he’s not but given that it’s the Internet and I can’t find one credible source or quote from him being “open” about it…huh? People have a weird and somewhat desperate definition of “openly”.

      • isabelle says:

The real truth- really good looking men in Hollywood get labeled bi or on the down low. When its often not true.

    • Shappalled says:

Why did you think he was gay?

And of course there’s nothing wrong with being gay. I don’t know why you felt compelled to say it.

      • Alix says:

It’s a Seinfeld reference, to be taken lightly.

      • Shappalled says:

        Dated jokes about homophobia. Great.

      • naomipaige says:

I said that because people are very sensitive (as per your 2nd reply) these days.
I just thought he was just a little too feminine.

      • CairinaCat says:

        He is openly Bi

      • minx says:

        Shappalled–it’s Seinfeld. Dial it back.

      • Kitten says:

Yikes. Have some coffee maybe, or perhaps smoke a bowl. Or three.

      • minx says:

        Kitten, 😂

      • Switchy says:

I actually totally agree with you Shappalled.

It’s one thing saying it’s a Seinfeld reference, it’s another then criticizing Tatum because he doesn’t fit into a supposed gender construct. Saying “he was a little too feminine”?? Yeah, that there is homophobic and it’s pretty sad that Shappalled gets told to calm down but no one calls out the language.

      • Shappalled says:

        Thanks, Switchy.

    • Andreia says:

I don’t think he’s gay. He used to work as a stripper in a gay club. At least that’s what I heard. I think its refreshing that he doesn’t care. Most men feel uncomfortable. Really who cares.

      • tracking says:

+1 I thought questions about his sexuality were tied to the gay club stripping too. I don’t think I’ve read about it in any other context but appreciate he doesn’t seem to be at all homophobic.

  8. FishBeard says:

I genuinely gasped upon seeing this. I loved them together. I remember seeing Step Up in middle school and thinking “they should be a couple in real life”.

  9. Ankhel says:

I guessed they were headed for divorce with how much they went on about their sex life and mutual attraction.

  10. Meryl says:

How is this surprising to anyone who has been paying attention? He is known for his wandering eye.

    • yanni says:

      Is he?

    • Nicole says:

Right? This has been an open thing same with Chris Pratt’s wandering eye

    • tracking says:

A-list actors are notoriously egotistical and entitled. He’s away on set all the time, and has women throwing themselves at him constantly. Of course he cheated. But I doubt that’s the primary reason for the breakup.

      • magnoliarose says:

She’s a real piece of work. Difficult and fame hungry. His cheating is a separate issue, but I am sure that didn’t help. His star is much brighter, and she wants to be on the same level but isn’t. He is known to be the nicer person in the couple. I do wonder if he has met someone he wants to be serious about to make the final push. Idk

      • isabelle says:

It is not just being A list, it is being a man in a position where women are always throwing themselves into their path and at their feet. That would be tempting for men who are saints of souls.

      • Domino says:

Interesting magnolia, she seems sweet but I always wondered if she was happy where she is. To be honest, I don’t love her as an actress. Dancer, she is fun, so I feel like she needs to focus there?

      • magnoliarose says:

I was surprised when someone who worked with her told me that. It could be she was unhappy at that time in her life.
I think his star rose very high and hers didn’t. I have never seen that dynamic work if they started on the same level or one was bigger and then got eclipsed. It is understandable that it would be frustrating and hard to swallow.

    • Lela says:

Yes, I attended a party for TIFF that he was at and he had his arm around various model/clingers all night.

    • Wren says:

I remember reading a thing about that a long time ago and pretty much believing it. Like, yeah that makes sense.

  11. tracking says:

Too bad. Hard to make a marriage work when one partner is successful and away all the time, the other ambitious but not successful and stuck handling all home duties. The inevitable resentment would be a natural relationship killer. Funny that they used similar language as Aniston and Theroux (“lovingly”) but my guess is these two will actually continue to care about each other and co-parent well together.

  12. Naddie says:

This makes me sad, I liked this couple. They always seemed very into each other, but not in a cheesy way. Wish the best for both.

  13. Nancy says:

I don’t care they’re splitting, it’s their business. It’s these stupid announcements of the divorce lately. We still love each other so damn much, but we don’t want you guys saying one of us is screwing around, so no rumors, just accept the fact that we’re in love and splitting up. It would be great if a couple said, we’re so sick of each other we could puke at the thought of spending another day together, so we’re divorcing, but we will be bff’s 4ever. Ha!

    • smcollins says:

I hear ya. I get the need of wanting to offset any rumors and protecting their daughter, but c’mon, this “conscious uncoupling” route that celebrities seem to love is eye roll inducing. I’m not saying it always has to be nasty & bitter, but the constant sugar coating is kind of ridiculous.

      • Alix says:

And “anything else you hear is fake news”. Too much of a muchness, indeed.

      • Eliza says:

At least conscious uncoupling was about how they didn’t work as a married couple but will as a family. This is “lovingly divorcing”, which is even more convoluted.

I think they were trying to say we became more like friends then partners, so we are divorcing because it’s the right thing to do for our family. But they put a lot of sweet sunny adjectives in there to sound more beautifully cool.

    • magnoliarose says:

I roll my eyes every single time. I would have more respect for a message like We are announcing our split. It didn’t work out. The end.

      • Fed Up says:

I couldn’t agree more, Magnoliarose. There’s nothing “lovingly” about separating. And in their case, after 9 years of marriage and a child together! I all the sugar coating celebrities use when ahate nnouncing the end of a relationship. It’s so fake.

      • Wren says:

Yes. Exactly. I can’t think of any real life break-up that I’ve experienced or witnessed that ever came close to this conscious uncoupling nonsense. It didn’t work. We tried. We failed. We don’t hate each other but it’s over and we’re moving on. Or maybe we do hate each other. Whatever.

    • Fhmom says:

      So true. Such b.s.

  14. French in hk says:

That disappearing nose of hers though…

    • isabelle says:

Are you serious? Post your pic, you perfect 10, and let us critique it.

      • French in hk says:

That was a bit ‘clumsy’ of me, I meant she obviously is gorgeous but I have always wondered about her changing face. She doesn’t really look like that girl from the movie in which they met (even though I have never finished that movie, that’s how good it was IMO). I mean her nose looks more like MJs now than her original.
And I’m not even trying to be mean or else, I just think that a nose a tad bigger would have brought more character and uniqueness to her face. Oh well, we’re on a website called celebitchy after all.

  15. Nicole says:

Just like the Chris/Anna divorce I kinda saw this one coming. It just came later than I thought

  16. Lucy2 says:

That’s very sad for them, and for their young daughter.
I think he’s been a bigger star longer in their relationship than the Chris/Anna situation. But who knows.

  17. Mia4s says:

Yeah I don’t think there’s anything salacious here, but I agree some couples can operate at two different levels of success/fame but many can’t.

That Page Six souce is differently trying to up her level. Bringing up “Berlin I Love You” as the reason she’s so busy is kind of hilarious. I get why you bring it up, there are some really big names in that movie; but it’s an anthology movie. Basically a bunch of different directors grab a few actors and go film a little short story for inclusion. The segments are about 10 minutes long, so figure a week or two shooting for an actor, absolute max. It’s not going to be her breakout in drama. Bless.

  18. Steph says:

I sometimes watch her YouTube channel and she seems nice. I was shocked when I saw the headline…

  19. Abby says:

This made me so so sad to hear. They were my favorite celebrity couple. I feel like Tyra Banks – I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU!

I haven’t heard the rumors about his wandering eye, other than here, but my impression just from following them both on social media is he acted like he snagged a catch with her. He thought she hung the moon. I didn’t get that vibe from her, not to say she didn’t love him.

All my opinions basically come from following them on social media for years. Which isn’t a real indication of course. He posts infrequently unless he is promoting a movie. She posts multiple times a day about everything from work to listening to music in the car mouthing the words.

As far as working a lot, Jenna seems like she is constantly working. Maybe not off on location, but so many photo shoots, she’s the host of that dance show, she is some some other tv show… she hustles.

I wondered why I never ever see her post photos or videos of them doing things together. She goes out with her dance friends, always. Sometimes her mom. Never with him. Paparazzi pics, nothing of them together. Only rare red carpet pics.

My theory, I suppose, in a best case scenario is it’s hard to be Magic’s mike’s wife. But she’s thirsty and hustling. Also, she went vegan maybe a year or two ago? And is all into woo woo, crystals, oils, setting intentions…. as far as I know he is still a beer-drinking, fried-chicken loving, motorbike riding Alabama boy.

I’m super sad they can’t make it work. 🙁 especially with their daughter.

    • Isa says:

I remember reading a post he made about her, something to the effect that she made everything around her grow.
I thought that was so lovely and romantic.

  20. Alyce says:

Oh no! This one actually makes me a little sad. Best of luck to both of them!

  21. Carolnr says:

“I think that there are such things as great fits.
It is a great fit as long as you are growing together and I think up until this point we have really grown together.”
Unfortunately, Jenna said it right there what was happening in their relationship. They outgrew each other, which is sad. I think they will be great parents , though.

  22. Betsy says:

Thanks again, Gwyneth, for serving up the baloney about consciously uncoupling such that now it’s basically a cliche. Such an annoyingly cutesy press release, and if you’re getting divorced, I don’t think anyone expects you to do so lovingly. It’s weirdly culty to call a rupture a loving act. It can be done lovingly, sure, when there’s no animosity, but the act of no longer living your life together is not loving.

    • Ankhel says:

This. You would think a divorce was the ultimate proof of love, the way some people refer to it.

  23. Sway says:

    This makes me sad.
P.S. Unrelated, but Jenna is a goddess.

  24. JustJen says:

She’s 37??? Wow, you wouldn’t know it. She looks better than a lot of women a decade younger. While he’s all muscled, to me his face is…unfortunate.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah I don’t find him attractive at all. She reminds me of Rachel McAdams in terms of her agelessness. She’s stunning.

    • lucy2 says:

Same here, he does nothing for me.
She is really gorgeous though, and I would have thought she was late 20s, not 37.

    • pwal says:

Yeah… I had to do a double-take. She definitely looks like she’s still in her 20s.

    • minx says:

He has always just looked like a big knucklehead to me.

    • tracking says:

Agreed, I don’t find him the slightest bit attractive. Oozes a bonehead frat bro vibe.

    • notasugarhere says:

I was surprised when they didn’t have a second child fairly quickly, so rumors of them being apart a lot make sense.

I’ve never seen his appeal in general, plus his body proportions are seriously off. That isn’t noticed much, but then he’s mostly photographed from the waist up. Full length, very short legs vs. size of the torso. She’s much shorter than he is but their legs are the same length.

  25. OChar says:

I loved them, so this makes me sad. They seemed so perfect together, how they talked about each other was so sweet & they seemed to really mean it. At some point after Magic Mike, someone asked Amanda Syfried what it was like working with Channing (in Dear John) & she said something to the affect that everyone wants Channing, but he only wants Jenna. The whole “wandering eye” thing is bs. Back when he won sexiest man alive he said they wouldn’t go more than 2 weeks without seeing each other, I suspect that changed, with them both working. I also wonder if he wanted more babies & she didn’t. He’s made the comment before that he’d love a houseful of kids, but it was up to Jenna, since she has to do all the work with being pregnant.

    • French Girl says:

Some years ago at Cannes fest ,he asked the phone numbers and the room numbers of 2 Italian female attractive journalists after an interview ( in front of the 3rd journalist of the interview).

  26. Lucy says:

I’m bummed about this one, I must admit. Wish the best for the two of them.

  27. KBB says:

I figured this was coming when she went to all the Oscar parties with her friend and said Channing was at home on dad duty. I think they probably split several months ago.

Plus any time you hear about how important a famous couple’s sex life is after they’ve been together for over 10 years, the end is near. No one in a long term relationship talks about that unless they’re missing it.

  28. Vic says:

He said he’s a “high functioning alcoholic” and it’s definitely visible in his appearance. I think she just had enough at some point.

    • KBB says:

I always wondered how faithful he could be if he was still drinking as much as he used to. Did he slow down after they had their kid? She’s a total health nut, so they had very different lifestyles if he was still carrying on as he used to.

    • Cayy says:

I read or saw that somewhere, too. He says he’s an alcoholic, and he invested in or started a vodka line. When the vodka line came out he said, “I want to cause a little havoc and get into some trouble.” He’s been hanging at race car and motorcycle tracks lately, according to social media. He obviously wasn’t working all the time because he was there without his wife (and with Dax Shepard).

      • Krill says:

Speaking of Dax Shepherd, I recently caught his podcast and I instantly got the same vibes I got from Anna Faris podcast. He keeps talking about the power imbalance in his marriage, how he is doing a role that his father didnt which is true for most guys today but for him it seems to pain him so much he needs to keep raising it. Also, the podcasting is clearly just “busy work”. Then he said some weird thing about how being a gear head was the only thing left of his masculinity. Divorce alert.

      • tracking says:

Krill, ugh. Not good. He was charming and likeable in Parenthood, surprised he hasn’t gotten something decent since.

      • Cayy says:

Krill, I’ve been actively avoiding Dax Shepard’s podcast so I appreciate your take on it. It had a horrible review recently. The review said Dax can’t stop talking over his guests and doesn’t let them finish a thought before he’s jumping all over the conversation. I’ve said for some time now that Dax Shepard is going through a serious midlife crisis. He was just cast in a pilot with Lake Bell. The PR release about that pilot was crazy as it talked about how many pilots Dax has been offered and turned down. (He’s so in-demand that he decided to have a podcast and make little videos for Ellen DeGeneres.)

I can’t decide if Dax and Kristen are going to get a divorce. She seems to relish in “mothering” him. Plus, their social circle would make it incredibly difficult for them. When Dax and Kristen hang with friends, it seems to be with people her age (or he hangs with racing fanatics). It’s got to be tough for him to always be the oldest one in their group of friends. Did you see the latest photo on social media of them at a “Peaky Blinders” themed party? Dax Shepard wishes he could be cool enough to be in “Peaky Blinders.” That photo was telling. For as much as Kristen and Dax spout about their open mindedness, that photo was as diverse as the White House intern picture.

Very sad to hear this. They were together from the beginning. Best of luck to them and their daughter.

  30. Texasho says:

As much as I love Channing (that hottie) I’ve always thought Jenna was a bit out of his league and she was “slumming it” just because he was the hot guy in Hollywood. I definitely think she’ll move on to more intellectual pastures with her next man, maybe a business man not in the spotlight. He however, will end up with someone whoreish most likely, and good for her!!

  31. Bishg says:

I wish celebrities would stop using the “too much work” excuse when they separate.
Sure, it can be true for some couples, but this is never the main reason why a relationship ends.
First of all, if what they’re saying is true, they have consciously decided to choose work over family – because let’s be honest, we’re not talking about someone who desperately need a few dollars more to make a living; he’s a millionaire and she’s a successful actress/producer.
They have the resources to make it work in spite of hectic schedules and different workplaces.
If they can’t make it work, what should us “peasant” do. then? In the lives of all people, with all kinds of jobs and living situations, might come a period when you need to focus on work more and you probably have to sacrifice the time usually devoted to your family, but you do it because you have a bigger purpose, be it building a better future for your kids or the desire to improve and challenge yourself.. but everything doesn’t have to fall into pieces if you don’t want to.
If they are so busy, what is going to change with different partners, and most of all, having to send their child back and forth to spend time with either parent? It will only make things more complicated.

  32. Amelie says:

Jenna is beautiful but she did something, I’m not quite sure, to her face. She does NOT look as she did in Step Up. I realize she is older, but no one’s face changes that much. When she and Channing got together, I kept looking at pictures of her in disbelief being like “What did she do to her face that she looks so different? Why don’t I recognize this actress??” When comparing pictures, her jawline and nose look radically different. And she looked fine before! I always wondered what prompted her to mess with her face. Whenever I see pictures of her, I never recognize her because of this. I know she’s looked like this for awhile but I always do a double take. I’m also the person who never really notices cosmetic changes in celebrities’ faces whenever people say “Omg they totally had work done” I never see it. Here though, it’s always confused me nobody has picked up on it.

As for Channing and Jenna splitting up, it does surprise me. I had never heard anything about them at all, they were pretty low-key in terms of gossip. I can always watch reruns of Step Up I suppose!

    • KBB says:

I was surprised everyone was fawning over her, she kind of has that Michael Jackson nose job look to me. She was really pretty before she started shaving down her nose.

I think she had a nose job before she started acting and then a second one after Step Up. Aside from that, I think it’s mostly just thinning skin and losing facial plumpness from aging with some light Botox.

She has always had a really angular face, but she was carrying more weight in Step Up so it looked a lot softer.

      • KBB says:

Here’s a photo of her from Step Up that shows what I’m talking about. She has the same prominent chin, but a much fuller softer face along her jawline. I’m not well-versed in plastic surgery procedures, is there something other than weight loss that would define her jawline like that?

      • Kitten says:

Step Up was 12 years ago, guys. I don’t look like I did at 27 either, ya know? My face is much more angular and defined than it was in my late-twenties.

Her face looks the same to me. The only difference I see is dramatic makeup and possibly contouring around the nose.

      • Tata Mata says:

Nose job, some botox, some light fillers perhaps (her upper lip does still look plush).
Her cheeks lost some plumbness but that is due to getting wiser 😛 .
I think she might have a “higher” forehead – did she have her hairline tampered with?

Also perhaps some sculpture fillers to make her cheekbones more prominent?

She really didn’t need that she was so pretty beautiful before.

      • French in hk says:

That’s what i meant earlier! She’s very pretty but her face changed quite a bit! And as an individual (keep in mind English is not my first language), I’m not sure how I would feel being with someone who does not look like the person I married at first.
Also I’m super biased because I do like charming Potatoe, he’s just charming in motion, nowhere near Einstein haha but I quite liked him in the past. And I’m probably the only one around here who thinks that she married up.

  33. Cat says:

It’s kind of interesting that she deleted every trace of him from her social media but Channing kept the pictures up. I think that he wanted kids and to have her be home with them whenever he got back from working but Jenna wanted to focus on her career. Honestly I respect that as a woman who puts my career first and does not want kids, but I feel bad for Channing because he seemed committed to his family. As for his sexual orientation, it does not matter, just because someone is bi does not mean they are incapable of being in a monogomous marriage.

    • KBB says:

Are you sure she erased pictures of him? I checked out her Instagram about a month ago because I thought it was weird that he didn’t go with her to Oscar parties and she hadn’t posted anything with him in months. I just scanned briefly and I think he’s in a Halloween picture and at least one from last March. I think she just rarely posted photos of him in the last year.

If she did delete photos she had posted of him, maybe she’s got something to be mad about.

    • Betsy says:

It is always sad when two people are mismatched on the kids and family issue.

  34. perplexed says:

She’s really fit. Didn’t realize how much so until I saw the picture of her in the above dress.

    • Rachel in August says:

      She’s a dancer extraordinaire.

    • Tata Mata says:

I love the show “witches of east end” with julia ormond as the mother Joanna and Maedchen Amick as aunt wendy and Joanna’ two daughters: Jenna Dewan is Joanna’s daughter Freya and Rachel Boston is Joanna’s dauther Ingrid. But honestly I don’t think Dewan is a great actress. ALL the other actresses were better by far.
Btw. most episodes of that show are on that famous video plattform 😉
And since watching that show I REALLY love Maedchen Amick as an actress. She is just f*cking interesting and great to watch.

  35. Mela says:

I have heard rumors he is an epic epic cheater

  36. Bridget says:

I’ve never thought that these two were going to make it in the long term. Channing shot into superstardom early in their marriage, and while he always made sure to give Jenna exposure, it’s always been clear that she has her own career ambitions too. Both of them have a lot of hustle, and when you’re focusing all your energy into your career that also involves a TON of travel, the odds are stacked against it working. Plus, I’ve always wondered if she was really okay with being “Mrs Channing Tatum”. Girl has spent her entire life busting her butt, it’s got to be hard to have your career boiled down to your spouse.

  37. Cupcake says:

I’ve been wondering about them when there was never another pregnancy announcement.

    • mela says:

just curious why not having a second child was a potential red flag?

I don’t have kids so I’m not sure what it could symbolize here

      • Parigo says:

My husband and I decided we only wanted one child. Lots of couples decide this or just can’t have a second. I don’t think it means the couple is in trouble.

  38. Jag says:

I loved them on the Lip Sync Battle. Thought that their vibe was such that they would stand the test of time. Guess not.

  39. Riley says:

Looks like they borrowed a chapter from JustJen’s split announcement.

  40. Kloops says:

Too bad, I guess. They seemed well suited to one another. I know I should find them attractive, all the pieces are there, but I don’t. They’re both « meh » to me.

  41. LittlefishMom says:

People fall out of love but still love each other, there’s a difference. She seems very career focused and determined. I’m thinking it’s work and time apart. I don’t get the cheating vibe from either of them.

    • Tata Mata says:

I think you are right. And there might be some added “acting hierarchy” in this story, too. In acting it is the big (paycheck) movies and the (at least somewhat) artsy movies that count more than small series or dance shows and such. It is kind of a hierarchy.
Channing Tatum got these BIG prestigeous movies and big paychecks. He is going to get invited to award shows.
Jenna Dewan Tatum got these minor series and these dance shows but no big prestigeous movies. She won’t be invited to award shows. She has to hustle much harder than him and she gets less than him.

I think she has less acting talent than him. I like her and I like to see her on screen but go watch “witches of east end” and you will see that Dewan’s acting wasn’t so great.
Tatum is good in comedies, too, and comedies are hard because you have to have good timing and deliver very well.

  42. Lens horne says:

It’s too bad. He doesn’t do it for me. But it’s sad.

  43. DiligentDiva says:

I never understood the attraction to him also what career does he have at this point he seems like a has been to me? So I doubt that was the reason for the split. But all the blind items said he cheated on her like crazy. I’m glad she’s kicking him to the curb, I’m so over celebrities thinking they are some exempted from the fidelity clause of marriage. It’s not that difficult to be faithful to your partner, or to just decide to not get a monogamous partner if you don’t want to be faithful.

  44. HeyThere! says:

SHE is so beautiful. He seemed to always really worship the ground she stood on. The wording of the divorce statement is always so weird. I always think, if you like each other THAT much…. why is this happening? Lol So many women say CT is their celeb crush. I don’t see it. There are men all over the world freaking out thinking she will be back on the market. I didn’t see this one coming but she is my motivation for my leg workouts this week! LOL Did I read she is a very strict vegan?

I have a headache and sinus infection so sorry if this post seems out of order and scatterbrained. I’m on cold meds.

    • mela says:

I think the same thing. If you loveeee each other so much and are on a life journey TOGETHER…why are you breaking up and diddling other people?

i guess these statements are just BS. Somebody wanted out of this marriage obviously

      • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

If they said they are happy to move on or happy to separate the, people will freak out about their daughter seeing that in the future. We used to criticize separations that were not friendly or loving (since they were once in love), now we demand the end to friendly statements??

  45. heather says:

Why announce on a Monday/ Tuesday? I thought celebs buried this on a Friday???

    • Tata Mata says:

It is catholic easter holidays and many celebrate this. Perhaps bury it there?
