Adele officiated her best friend’s wedding and performed afterwards

We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Adele. The 29-year-old singer went above and beyond for her friend, British comedian Alan Carr. Adele served as the planner for his wedding to Paul Drayton in January, even going so far as to get ordained to perform the ceremony in her Los Angeles home.

Alan “outed” his friend’s kind act during an interview on ITV’s This Morning on Tuesday. Of Adele, he said, “She’s known me and Paul for ages. She said, ‘I want to do your special day. Let me do everything.’ And she did everything, and she got ordained and she married us.” Sparing Alan and Paul from a subpar DJ or wedding band, Adele sang a song for their first dance together. When asked what the song was, Alan demurred, “I can’t tell you. It’s private.” With all of the emotional, sad songs in Adele’s repertoire, I can’t imagine what she would have sung. Maybe she covered someone else. If I were Alan, I would have loved to hear Adele’s take on the classic Etta James song “At Last.” Right?

If that’s not enough, Adele even sprung for a special honeymoon for the newlyweds. Alan gushed, “She is the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever. She flew us to Vegas to see Celine Dion sing.” He went on to add that “I just want to tell everyone. She won’t say because she’s so private. Flowers, three-course meal, she just planned it all. It was the best day of our life.”

After Alan’s interview aired, Adele shared a photo from the big day, clad in her wedding officiating gown. She added the caption, “Seeing as the cats out the bag. I married two of my best friends in January. You know me any excuse to dress up…”

I love this story so much. I also admire Adele for her support of the LBGTQ community. My favorite Adele story is when she invited (under-appreciated) former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant (and amazing Adele impersonator) Delta Work to join her on stage back in 2016. I will always be a fan. Now, how can I get her to plan and officiate my wedding?

Alan Carr is amazing! His chat show was by far my favourite, too bad it’s gone.

I don’t get the new fad of flower walls. Am I the only person that thinks it looks really tacky?
