Melania Trump allegedly said ‘The Trump men are all vain & power-hungry’

Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Emmanuel Macron, and Brigitte Macron attend a dinner at the White House

To be clear, I don’t believe Melania Trump is AS bad as her husband, nor is she AS complicit as Ivanka Trump. But that being said, I still don’t have much sympathy for her. She married for money and security and she’s free to leave at any time, but she doesn’t. So spare me the “woe is Melania” conversation. I also think Melania and Donald’s joint appearances are getting increasingly funny and fraught. It’s kind of crazy to see her open disgust towards him and her blatant refusal to even consent to hold his baby fist. Anyway, Us Weekly has an incredibly bizarre story about how Melania tried to give advice to Don Trump Jr.’s now-estranged wife Vanessa, and how Melania is not having an “easy time.”

“My rock and foundation.” Those were the first public words Donald Trump used to describe his wife, first lady Melania Trump, after several women, including porn star Stormy Daniels, spoke out about their alleged affairs with the president. In an email sent to his supporters April 17, Trump used the subject line “My better half” to gush about Melania ahead of her 48th birthday April 26: “I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her by my side,” the 45th president, 71, wrote of his third wife (with whom he shares son Barron, 12). “She’s the cornerstone of our family.”

But when it comes to her husband, the former model doesn’t feel the same. A source reveals to Us that before Vanessa Trump split from Donald Trump Jr., she turned to her mother-in-law, FLOTUS, for advice: “Melania told her, ‘The Trump men are one and the same — vain and power-hungry.’” The insider adds that that she told Vanessa, 40, “she could do nothing to change that and offering her husband an ultimatum would be a huge mistake because he would choose his thirst for power like his dad.” In the end, her only choice was to file for divorce from Trump Jr., also 40, which she did on March 15.

Though Melania has yet to determine if she’ll leave her Trump spouse, one thing is certain: The drama is tearing her apart. Notes a pal: “It’s not an easy time for her.”

[From Us Weekly]

First of all, I seriously doubt Melania gives a sh-t enough about the Large Adult Trump Sons to even give advice to their wives. Melania has seen this family up close for nearly two decades: she knows they’re all batsh-t insane. Don Jr. probably freaks her out more than her husband. Second of all, does Melania even think in terms of “all Trump men are vain and power-hungry”? No. I doubt it. She’s just thinking about the next time she can get away to Mar-a-Lago. Or maybe she’s thinking about the next time she can see Barack Obama so she can remember what it feels like to relax and smile.

She may not be “just as bad” as her husband but she is still awful. This woman was an avid supporter- just like her husband – of the birther movement. She’s a racist woman who married a man for money and is complicit in his dealings. I have no doubt that she knows a LOT and chooses to stay and say nothing. I have NO sympathy for her.

    • lucy2 says:

Same here. I will never get past the birther stuff. Not to mention she, an immigrant, has sat by silently while her husband has attacked immigrants over and over and over. Plus she defended him after the Access Hollywood tapes of him speaking of assaulting women, and said at least one of his accusers was a liar.
No sympathy from me either. .

    • FLORC says:

This woman is a survivor. In the way you adapt. Set aside morals to be able to exist in once unthinkable conditions. Like the Donner party. Only Melania walked in to trump’s baby hands because it was her last option of comfort. She chose this. She changed willingly.

She could have lived fine on her own or with a less wealthy man. She took what she could get. She played her part. And while I’m trying to understand her process and circumstances. She made her bed and is not without heavy blame for all the hate and violations.

  2. Rapunzel says:

Melania is biding time. And counting the KFC her husband is clogging his arteries with.

  3. Lightpurple says:

I very much doubt Vanessa turned to her for advice. She’s not a typical stepmother who knew him growing up and knows what moves him. Junior was an adult when she arrived on the scene. Vanessa has her own resources. She’s doing what she’s doing to protect those resources. Whether she’s doing this in cahoots with Junior to protect assets from his legal entanglements or whether she’s doing it to protect her family money from Junior, she wouldn’t be discussing this with Melania

They look so in love 🙄

    • Miss Melissa says:

He loves no one and nothing but money and power.

I have never seen any photos of him in love or showing love to anyone, including Ivanka, who is a possession to him. Another trinket for his collection.

  5. Shannon says:

But I truly wonder – CAN she walk away unscathed? Like, does he have something over her head immigration-wise? That’s kind of my theory. On her own, she seems relatively nice and in-offensive (except the birther nonsense, I don’t know why she did that). Maybe it’s a crazy tin-foil conspiracy theory, which I don’t usually go for, but this just seems crazy for her not to leave if she was able to just leave.

    • minx says:

My guess is she got money to stay and “perform” as First Lady. When that’s over, or he drops dead, or is arrested, she’s done.

      • Lacia Can says:

I think it’s a bit of both. She has relatives who are trying to gain citizenship (chain migration is fine if you’re white 🙄) plus she was offered $$$$ to stay as FLOTUS. Then there’s Barron – no doubt trump has threatened to make it really difficult for Melania to gain custody. Trump may not give a 💩 about the kid, but he will use him as a cudgel to keep Melania in line.

Note: I have zero sympathy for Melania. She made her bed.

      • Merritt says:

More like the promise of money because Trump never pays anyone.

    • Annabelle Bronstein says:

Whether it’s an immigration issue or something else, it’s clear they do not have an equal partnership and they’ve never had equal bargaining power. I know this is an unpopular observation on this site, but she clearly despises him so much that she has involuntary physical reactions to his touch, even in public. I feel that if she could freely leave, she would’ve already left.

      • AnneC says:

Her loathing probably has more to do with his destroying of the trump name and probably the entire company after this fiasco. Nothing for Barron to step into or inherit. Her marriage for prestige and money for herself and her son is going down the tubes. Barron may want to take her maiden name in adulthood.

    • Cran says:

I don’t believe anyone will walk away from Trump unscathed. Businesspeople who have taken advantage of Trumps errors like Carl Icahn and some Saudi princes are in the past. Icarus flew too close to the sun and Icahn may have done so with his recent involvement with the administration and his machinations with EPA Secretary Scott Pruitt. Icahn may have enriched himself once too often for NYS AG Schneiderman.

No person currently in Trumps orbit will get away unscathed. His brand is too toxic. The phrase ‘you are the company you keep’ is appropriate.

      • Lacia Can says:

Trump is a credibility vampire. Has no credibility of his own, so sucks it out of those around him until their credibility is a dried out husk. Then trump moves on to his next victim. What’s shocking to me is how many people think it won’t happen to them. How many examples do they need?

    • Christin says:

How she (and her parents) immigrated is likely a big part of the glue that holds this frayed union together.

My guess is that the show is nearly over when she starts laying groundwork to play the innocent victim who just could not do anything with him. I think it’s already starting.

Had this gone better, she’d be trying to sell cheap watches and jewelry again. She was ready to cash in, and now realizes it’s on hold (until she can improve her own image or find another wealthy dude).

  6. adastraperaspera says:

As a collaborator in Trump’s crimes, Melania perfectly embodies Hannah Arendt’s “banality of evil.” She could have chosen any rich geezer she wanted, back in the 1990s when she was “modeling” in NYC. She chose Trump. She knows everything and doesn’t care.

  7. greenmonster says:

I think she is just as bad as her husband. Several times in the last two years she got handed very good reasons to leave him (p*ssy tape, Stormy Daniels, several accusations of harassment and affairs) but she stays. He has nothing on her, more the other way around. Melania could leave Trump, take Barron with her and live a nice life. With all the crap she knows about him and his family, she could force his hand to give her what she wants. If she plays her cards well (and that wouldn’t be too hard) she would have the public on her side. She could destroy every chance Trump has for a second term, but she stays with him.

  8. Becks says:

I saw the headline and thought, well, she’s not wrong. (Even if she didnt’ say it, the quote itself isn’t wrong.)

  9. LittlefishMom says:

    and water is wet

  10. Neva_D says:

    She’s 48?!

  11. Pandy says:

She’s ageing so quickly, wow! And that header picture – somebody treated herself to fillers for her birthday! No sympathy for her. I still remember her lawsuit that she was losing the ability to monetize the FLOTUS opportunities. She’s as complicit and greedy as all of the Drumpfs.

  12. DenG says:

Some of her photos look like the essence of “if looks could kill”. So who’s she targeting?

  13. diamondRottweiler says:

Yeah, she’s totally complicit. But also, yeah, I’ve often thought her young son is the biggest reason she stays, especially as it seems possible he has special needs that would make a huge upheaval and custody battle even more awful than it is for any child put through such a thing.

  14. jferber says:

Don’t jump on me, but what evidence do we have that she adores her son? It seems to me we all just assume she does. It’s a real question. Trump said he dumps his women at 35, and she had a baby at 35 and was not dumped. And I don’t believe Trump ever played the custody card with the two ex wives. It was a matter of settling the money for them. So why would he threaten to take away Barron? It doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t believe she stays for Barron. I think she’d just take him with her. Trump doesn’t want her to go while he’s in the White House, so I guess he’s keeping her happy with extra money/properties, whatever. Just a thought.

    • greenmonster says:

While I do think she loves Barron, I don’t believe Trump would fight for custody. No idea why others think Melania is afraid to lose her son in a custody battle. Trump had four other kids with two women and he wasn’t interested in custody. He doesn’t care about his children until they reach adulthood. My guess is people underestimate Melania in this relationship: she is not a victim, she is not suffering, she is not crying herself to sleep every night.

    • Christin says:

I won’t jump on you, because I’ve never seen any warm embraces or closeness with either parent in footage or photos of them. They look like three separate strangers.

  15. Why? says:

Yesterday I wrote how everyone in that WH leaks positive stories about themselves and negative stories about anyone they perceive as a threat. Then yesterday, Jared and Ivanka leaked negative stuff about Kelly and now today, Melania is leaking more stories to make herself look like the victim. Melania is just as unkind and self centered as her husband. When the Parkland students asked for her help because grown men were bullying them, Melania responded to their pleas for help by leaking 2 articles about how bad she has it being the president’s wife. Let’s not forget that Melania also took part in the birther movement and said that all those women who accused her husband of harassment and assault should not be believed until a court had vetted their stories. Just look at how she tried to make the Macron’s visit all about herself by wearing that hat.

  16. Egla says:

I think she is out of her depth in this situation and for that I pity her. She decided to date for 8 years and marry him and have a child with him for the perks of a life with a billionaire. She was happy with whatever arrangement they had and then bam the game changed and they were exposed and she hates that now. I think they were leading separates lives for a while and suddenly they had to play a united front and that is uncomfortable for the both of them. To me it seems they don’t even know each other anymore and the reason they haven’t divorced is because he has no more strength or money to go through a divorce and she has no more strength to be in the game again to find a new husband who will give her the life she is acostumed. I believe they had their lives on the side and were happy like that. But who knows what really goes on there.

  17. jferber says:

I don’t pity her for being out of her depth because her a–hole husband, who is also out of his depth, bigly, foisted them on the American people with his dirty tricks and major crimes. The only pity I have is for the American people and Barron, who’s only a kid.
