A note on Melania Trump’s wax figure & her husband’s ‘remember sailor!’ tweet

Melania Trump waxwork has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds New York

Yesterday was Melania Trump’s birthday. Donald Trump didn’t get her anything but a card and an unhinged call-in interview to Fox & Friends. Thankfully, the peeps at Madame Tussauds got Melania a gift: a wax figure which looks nothing like her, yet seems to capture her wax-like presence perfectly. I can tell that this is supposed to be Melania, but if I was just looking at it without any context, I would say it was pre-surgery, pre-Botox Melania, maybe? Melania mixed with Sarah Jessica Parker, perhaps? Also: I feel like Madame Tussauds gave Melania a better wig than she gave herself.

Meanwhile, Melania’s husband got up bright and early to tweet incoherently:

People were confused by the whole thing, honestly, but the “remember sailor!” seemed especially cryptic, even for Trump. The Independent believes Trump is making a reference to Kristian Saucier, a Navy submariner who was convicted of possessing classified material – he took photos inside of a submarine – and sentenced to prison for one year. The Saucier case became a GOP cause because they compared Saucier’s crime and punishment to Hillary Clinton’s “but her emails” crime and lack of punishment. Basically, Trump is threatening Comey with jail because Comey “leaked” classified information. But Trump tweeted this on an unsecure phone from the White House, the same White House where he leaked close-hold classified information to Russian agents early in his presidency. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That whole wax scenario is basically Jabba the Hutt & tiny Carrie Fisher in a metal bikini (on a leash)

    • Amy says:

Woah. that is eerily on point and I can’t believe i didn’t think of it before!!

      • peanut says:

I wish I was tech savvy enough to make a meme with the heads cropped on the characters… your observation is SPOT ON!

  2. Darla says:

I dreamt of The Flash last night. I think it’s because I keep feeling as if I got stuck in the wrong time line on the wrong earth.

    • DesertReal says:

      I know, right!?
Everyday feels like we’re stuck inside of some sort of flashpoint paradox and it baffles the hell out of me.

  3. lassie says:

The Tussand’s jowl game is strong on the 45 one.

    • whatWHAT? says:

hahahaha! it’s SO unflattering, but a pretty good rendition of him, I think. He won’t like it, I bet. even better!

and while Melania’s doesn’t resemble her exactly, I think they got her squint down perfectly.

    • minx says:

They did get the jowls right, but they made him thinner than he is. And his tie should be longer.

      • Esmom says:

Yeah, they definitely slimmed him down. I think both of them are really good likenesses and as Kaiser said, the Melania doll’s hair is nice than her actual hair situation.

      • Christin says:

Wonder if the tie has tape on the back?

    • kittyhawk says:

Politicians and their jowIs hahahahah . I wonder if that is the Winston Churchill pose he practiced in front of the mirror at Mar-a-Lago. What a lout.

  4. Eric says:

    Well…hello there sailor!!

    Wrong thread?

    Oops

  5. RBC says:

Madame Tussaud certainly nailed the “coldness and distance” in Melania and 45’s marriage. My freezer is probably warmer than the relationship between those two. The wax figure of 45 has better hair, but the tie is too short

    • whatWHAT? says:

the tie is too short and the hands are too big.

    • Erinn says:

Are her eyes slightly off in real life, or is it just the figure? Her left (our right) looks a bit too far to the right compared to the other eye. Her face should have been slightly wider/shorter as well. It’s like they reverse aged her a bit and elongated her face.

Trump – well. He’s hideous in real life and in wax-figure life. So whatever. Agreed on the tie, though.

Were Tussauds figures always this off? I mean – it’s definitely not an easy thing to do. But lately I don’t feel all that impressed with them.

    • Chrissy says:

What’s with him standing there like a cowboy with his thumbs in his waistband? The Melania’s isn’t tall enough, her face is too long and the boobs are much smaller too.

    • Juls says:

Should have posed them with wax Melania slapping wax Donald’s hand away.

  6. Beth says:

To day is my 40th birthday, and I was hoping there’d be a day off from his Insane tweets. His embarrassing ranting and raving and admitting he was too busy to get Melania a present must have ruined her birthday yesterday.

    • Eric says:

      Happy birthday, Beth.

Here’s hoping Emperor Zero goes on Fox News Network and spills some more!

      Cheers!

    • Nancy says:

Happy Birthday fellow Taurus!! Forty is the new 25, really. Anyway, sad and funny that the wax figure has more personality than Mel. Better looking too. Bless her heart. HB Beth!

    • minx says:

      Happy birthday!

    • Swack says:

      Happy 40th!

    • Juls says:

Happy Birthday Beth! Today is also my son’s 11th birthday. His big brother told him “Happy Adoption Day!” He’s not adopted LoL. Kids.

      • Nancy says:

Hahaha. That’s hysterical. How do they come up with this stuff?!! My son’s humor is similar and also unexplainable!!!

      • Who ARE These People? says:

I wonder if he has friends who celebrate Adoption Day. That would be a nice thing in that case. In adoptive households, Adoption Day celebrates the formation of a new family. It can also acknowledge the losses of the biological family while honoring new bonds.

Having grown up in the time in which adoption was used as an insult to kids — “You’re different, they must have adopted you!” — my hope is that kids are now acquiring more positive view of this much-needed way of making families. If we do hear that kids are still cracking “jokes” about adopted kids being, well, losers, then we need to talk with them so they can be more thoughtful. This stuff spreads and can be very hurtful for children who actually were adopted.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Happy Birthday, Beth! Live it up!

    • Esmom says:

Happy birthday! Hope it’s a special day.

As for Melania, if she had to spend her birthday without Bigly or some thoughtless present from him, it was probably a happy one.

  7. Rapunzel says:

Will wax Melania let Donny hold her hand?

Would Donny even notice the difference if wax Melania replaced real Melania?

Will wax Melania do a better job with Melania’s cyberbulling campaign?

Would Donny buy wax Melania a birthday gift?

    So many questions!

    • lucy2 says:

Melania’s probably calling them right now to ask to “borrow” her likeness, so she can stand it up in the WH and sneak away to wherever.

  8. Ninks says:

I can’t tell the difference tbh.

  9. Rapunzel says:

Forget the sailor tweet. Bigly was threatening any country that would challenge the US’s joint bid for the World Cup, like a mob boss.

Or, you know….like the mystery guy who threatened Stormy D (using the same language).

    • lightpurple says:

Yes. I saw that last night. Truly in the spirit of international sports competition. He probably just lost us the bid.

    • Swack says:

      What????

    • Kitten says:

That tweet totally fell under the radar but yeah, it was completely insane. Our country is the last one that should be hosting an international event. Not with 45 at the helm.

    • lightpurple says:

And FIFA has issued an ethics warning. Consider the bid extremely wounded. My thoughts are with the people here and in Mexico and Canada who have probably spent years working on the bid.

  10. The Hench says:

Most of the time waxworks look, hilariously, nothing like their inspiration. However, in this case, I am struggling to tell the difference between this waxwork and the real FLOTUS. Same immobile expression, same dodgy hairpiece, also refuses to hold the President’s hand….Madame Tussauds, I salute you. This is a masterpiece.

    • lightpurple says:

      This one’s breasts are smaller.

      • The Hench says:

@Lightpurple – good point. Mr Hench observed the other day, apropos of nothing (that I know of..) “Melania Trump has enormous knockers, doesn’t she?”. This waxwork, on the other hand, does not look enough like it is about to overbalance and there is actually space betwixt chest and waist. Perhaps Melania could ask to borrow it for a visit to her plastic surgeon and see if they can do some remodelling.

    • Anne says:

I actually got a strong sense of Ivanka in the title photo. No? Just me?

      • lightpurple says:

Nagina does have the longer, narrower face that this Melania has. If Melania and Ivanka had a daughter together, it might look like this.

  11. my3cents says:

Could we have the wax figures in office?
More personality (for her) better performance (for him). We win.

  12. Rapunzel says:

So it was wax Donny that ended that pesky Korean War,right? They have to be using wax Donny for the talks with Kim Jong Un.

  13. Betsy says:

My personal take on the the Trump wax figure that I’m pretty sure they had begun a Hillary one and no one really cared about Donald, so they added jowls and shrunk the mouth and eyes.

  14. Goldengirllover34 says:

Those wax figures are creepy and your description is right on: mix of Melania with a touch of SJP.

Also, i was unaware of that Fox and Friend’s interview. Wow! That is all I can say. Just Wow!

    • jwoolman says:

Mueller undoubtedly has been recording Fox&Friends. Trump tends to say the most revealing things when chattering on the phone to them.

This time, he took up all their time (nonstop talking for 30 minutes!) and even his F&F buddies were looking nervous and finally had to cut him off. I wonder if they are beginning to realize they hitched their wagon to the wrong star.

      Stormy’s lawyer loved it, though.

      • Justwastingtime says:

How long do you think he would have gone on for if Fox hadn’t pulled the plug?

  15. Astrid says:

hahahaha….the wax wig is better than the real wig

  16. Who ARE These People? says:

The figure of Trump holding up his Old Man Pants is pretty funny.

  17. tonetest says:

When the day comes, will they put this one in handcuffs too?

    • lucy2 says:

OMG wouldn’t that be glorious!? I’d actually pay to go in and pose for a photo with that one.

  18. babykitten says:

    I see Darrell Hammond.

  19. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Melon’s head is the wrong shape, and for gods’ sake, when does she ever smile ? Certainly never in his presence. They totally missed the expression of contempt that occupies her face when it’s not wearing a look of icy vacancy.

    • jwoolman says:

Melania smiled quite naturally when talking with Barack Obama at Barabara Bush’s funeral. She just looks frozen around Donald.

  20. susiecue says:

I don’t think it’s such a bad likeness. But I agree the hair is way too good. Needs that weird incomprehensible part she’s been doing lately.

  21. smcollins says:

I immediately thought “SJP with a nose job” when I saw this. Trump’s wax figure is pretty damn accurate, as far as the face.

  22. Digital Unicorn says:

Melania’s wax figure looks a lot like Ivanka or is that just me?

Tussaud’s fixed his hair for him – maybe he should get them to do his combover on a daily basis!

  23. CK3 says:

I’d like to congratulate Laura Benanti on her new wax figure. Tussaud should apologize to her placing it next to a trashcan and move it to the celebrity section immediately.

  24. holly hobby says:

His face looks like its melting. He also needs a bigger gut. Maybe this is Ronny Jackson’s delusional vision of him.

On the other hand the House Intel Comm (ha!) just exonerated this jerk saying there was no collusion. I’m going to wait for Mueller’s report thank you very much.

  25. Ruyana says:

They did get his facial expression of extreme arrogance right.

  26. anon14 says:

Huh, I thought that first photo was a pic of a prettier/photoshopped Sarah Jessica Parker.

  27. TheVoice says:

I think it’s spot on! Can barely tell it’s wax.
