So, Lea Michele is engaged. The 31-year-old former Glee star is set to wed Zandy Reich, who is president of clothing company AYR. The two were introduced by Lea’s BFF Stephanie Levinson and have been dating since July of last year.
One of Lea’s friends told PEOPLE that “It was a super private proposal.” The friend added that “Their relationship has been very private, but they’re so happy. It was so romantic and she’s just so excited and feels so lucky.”
The proposal may have been private, but Lea, whose always been a little too “Look at me, look at me!” for my taste, shared news of the engagement all over social media because of course she did. On Saturday, she shared a photo of her massive, four-carat engagement ring on Instagram and then, on Tuesday, she used her Instagram Story to post screenshots of her famous friends’ reactions to the big news.
Lea Facetimed her former Scream Queens co-star Emma Roberts and Emma’s boyfriend, Evan Peters, and posted a screenshot of their delighted faces. Zandalea (trying this couple name out, let me know if you think it works) then reached out to Lea’s Glee co-star Darren Criss, posting more happy reaction shots from him and his fiancee Mia Swier. Lea also posted a photo showing off her rock next to some engagement cupcakes, but the big news didn’t really seem to faze the baked goods.
The actress and the future Mr. Michele were spotted on the streets of New York on Tuesday, their first public appearance since getting engaged. They look happy, so I guess that’s really all that matters. And it’s good to get a gander at Zandy, since Lea’s IG feed is nearly devoid of any pictures of her almost spouse, which I think is kind of odd. I think I have more pictures of my BF than I do of me on my Facebook and such, but I’m not famous, so I don’t have access to the celebrity social media handbook. I could be doing this all wrong. Maybe that’s why she’s engaged and I’m not. Oh, well. I have noted in the past that Lea hasn’t had the best luck with men, so, it’s nice she seems to have found a good one. Congrats.

So I, apparently incorrectly, thought Darren Criss was gay…but then I scrolled down to his picture in this article and oh my holy god, dude is hot as hell. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him outside of the very neat Glee look, but I’ve never been happier to have been wrong!

I honestly don’t post any photos or very minimal of my SO. he has way more photos of us on his social media funny enough. I don’t think that really indicates an imbalance in the scale of how much we love each other? I wouldn’t normally defend her about that but just my thoughts bc I think social media is so unique to each person that uses it. I wonder now though if people who care to look at our profiles think it’s odd.. Hmmmm.. Though, I guess with Lea, it’s different bc she’s a tad narcissistic.. Her ring is so big lol idk how she’s not terrified if it catching to things or getting lost
I wouldn’t think it’s odd. I don’t post pictures of my husband because he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t have any social media accounts – has zero online presence – and that’s how he likes it. I respect that.
On a different note, that is a horrible manicure to show off your engagement ring.

I think that fact that she doesn’t post about him is why I think this one is real. She didn’t even go public until months into it. She is very thirsty but she’s kept this under wraps which good for her.

To be fair, aside from her red carpet antics, a lot of non celeb folks overshare like this on social media. I’m not a fan of it but it is what it is.

Her being best friends with him is reason enough for me to know that she is not as bad as gossip blogs make her out to be.
Although honestly, I like her. Sure, she is thristy and can be extra, but if that is her personality so be it, it’s not offending anyone. Honestly, it most be hard for her to be so talented (girl got a voice on her, check any spring awakening clip for not overproduced goodness) and yet she must receive endless declines to roles due to her not being a cookie cutter beauty, so I understand why she tries to use being sexual to get coverage ( although I dont think it is a good strategy). And she seems nice enough on interviews (which dont translate well in print, tone is important for dramatic people)

I’m trying to understand how the engagement cupcakes came about. Sprinkles knew she was getting engaged before she did and had cupcakes delivered just in time?
And they do look like nipple rings.
The timing of when the cupcakes showed up on her IG feed was like, a day after the engagement pic went up. So maybe the company saw her pic and sent cupcakes after. or a friend did?
I’m not a fan of hers but I see no issue here. She got engaged. That’s a pretty big deal. If there was a moment worth a huge blast on social media, I think an engagement is worthy of it.
