Miranda Kerr & Evan Spiegel welcome baby boy Hart Spiegel

19th Annual Post-Golden Globes Party hosted by Warner Bros. Pictures and InStyle at The Beverly Hilton Hotel

Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel have welcomed their first child together, and it’s a boy! Miranda and Evan got married in March 2017, and they announced her pregnancy last November. Considering how Miranda is very “all-natural/organic” with everything, my guess is that in the months to come, we’ll be hearing about her drug-free birth with only the assistance of a doula and a swarm of butterflies. Apparently, Evan and Miranda named their son… Hart? Hart Spiegel.

Miranda Kerr‘s baby boy has arrived! The Australian model gave birth to her second child and first with husband Evan Spiegel, on Monday, May 7 in Los Angeles, PEOPLE confirms. Born at 11:53 p.m., Hart is named after Evan’s grandfather, a source tells PEOPLE.

“Words cannot explain how happy we are to welcome our beautiful son into our family. Miranda is doing well and Flynn is excited to be a big brother. Thank you for the kind words and wishes during this very special time,” the new parents told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. Kerr, 35, is also mom to 7-year-old son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.

When I first read the name “Hart” with no backstory, I thought it was Miranda’s idea and I was ready to eyeroll. But hearing that it’s a family name… it makes the name better, right? And while Hart Spiegel sounds like the name of an old-fashion law firm, it actually sort of works. Basically, I’m surprised that I don’t hate this at all. Congrats to Miranda and Evan! And we’ll see if she sticks with Evan through Snapchat’s highs and lows.

Congrats and nice name. I can actually see Miranda marrying a third time.

    • Ankhel says:

What a coincidence, so can I!

    • monette says:

Me too! It’s like the minute she marries them, their star starts fading.
I like the name Hart. Isn’t Spiegel German for mirror?

      • Sandy says:

It sure is (=. Hart is actually also a German word! It means hard, although usage of an adjective in context with the mirror would mean you’d spell it ‘harter Spiegel’

    • LaraK says:

      …also fourth and fifth

    • Rhys says:

She might get tired of Evan stinginess.
Though, all the princes that matter have been taken and not a lot of peasants are richer than Evan. Who is she going to marry?

  2. Erinn says:

I like that name, honestly. It’s different but not super weird or anything, and I love when family names get reused. I was doing some genealogy research the other day and the amount of times that names got recycled in my family is insane.

  3. TaniaOG says:

Congrats. Hopefully the baby looks like Mommy.

  4. sally says:

It felt like she had been pregnant forever! I honestly thought she’d already had it.

  5. Elisa says:

    hard mirror…interesting! 🙂 Anyways, congrats!

  6. tracking says:

Hard not to be cynical about her and this relationship, but glad the baby is healthy.

  7. Scarlet Vixen says:

Aw, I like the name! One of my brothers has 2 middle names, and 1 of them is ‘Hart’. He has 2 middle names because my parents had already picked a ‘J’ middle name (all 4 of my brothers have the same initials), but just before my mum gave birth our Uncle Harry died. My mum came up with the name ‘Hart’ to honor our uncle without having to actually name my brother ‘Harold’.

  8. Yeahright says:

She should give classes on gold digging!

  9. Rescue Cat says:

Never used to like Miranda until I questioned why I was judging her more harshly than Leonardo Di Caprio. Then the judgment just fell away.

    • Astrid says:

      +1

    • VirgiliaCoriolanus says:

I don’t mind her. Ultimately she is harmless, and I’ve enjoyed watching her try and land various rich dudes. She doesn’t pretend to be more than she is, beyond a few weird photoshopping incidents on IG years and years ago.

    • Vegramen says:

Rescue Cat, yep, maybe she really liked Packer and Jho for their sparkling personalities and looks. Last time I checked Leo didn’t date rich women only. Hardly a great comparison. Call it what it is, and yes, she’s probably not harming anyone but deluding herself about what attracts her to men.

      • Antonym says:

@Vegraman – Do you think Leo only dates young twenty something blonde models because of their sparkling personalities?

Seems like a pretty spot-on comparison to me. Judging from the outside (which we all are) conclusions are drawn that she’s attracted to wealth and he to youth. Neither of those are particularly deep and meaningful, so why judge one seemingly shallow person harsher than another equally shallow seeming person? I think that’s the point RescueCat is making.

      • VEGRAMEN says:

@antonym, relationships founded on solely being attracted to someone physically is very different to one based on attraction to their wealth. In fact you usually need to have at least the former to have a relationship in the first place. The latter is just a transaction.

  10. Alix says:

An okay name, once the kid’s schoolmates get tired of calling him Fart.

  11. Other Renee says:

I like it. Simple yet elegant. I just realized that Flynn’s full name is kind of a tongue twister. Flynn Bloom. Those double “l”s don’t roll easily off the tongue. I like the name Flynn though.

    • Kit says:

      Rolls better as
      Flynn Kerr Bloom!
      Hart Kerr Spiegel!
Both sound a bit like different degrees of a sneeze. I like them.

  12. Patty says:

Miranda is cute. She looks amazing pregnant and I admire the heck out of her hustle. She is who she is. She needs to teach classes, because I cannot even get these negative net worth fools to ask me out.

  13. Aurelia says:

Funny, I was sure it was announced early on they were having a girl?

  14. Aurelia says:

Yeah just googled. It was announched in the Australian Women’s Weekly.

  15. jferber says:

Good for them. I’d love to see family pics with the new baby and Flynn. Two little boys. Too cute. Congrats to them.
