Blake Lively in Brandon Maxwell at the ‘Deadpool 2’ premiere: cute or meh?

'Deadpool 2' New York Screening

Here are some photos of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds at the New York premiere of Deadpool 2, which is going by DP2 in promotional material. The Deadpool franchise is Ryan’s baby, and it’s been built with Ryan’s blood, sweat and tears. Blake knows that. So she’s always a little bit extra when she helps support her husband for Deadpool duty.

For the premiere, Blake wore a Brandon Maxwell dress in the “Deadpool colors” of black and red. She paired the dress with Louboutin heels, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Judith Leiber clutch that looked like a “party mix tape.” Thoughts on the ensemble? I always think Blake looks like one part needs a minor tweak to be absolutely perfect, and for this look, I would say that it was her hair that needed the tweak. The combo of the too-long earrings with the flattened hair is not great. But otherwise, it’s fine and she looks cute here.

On the red carpet, Ryan talked about how in real life, he’s a lot different than Deadpool, obviously. He told People: “Oh, I’m a little more [sentimental]. I can lay it on pretty thick. I’ve always been sentimental — since I was a kid.”

I’m totally here for the movie, but these outfits?….no

  2. Loganski says:

I love the dress on her, would have preferred a closed toe shoe and I agree, the earrings and hair…meh! I love Ryan’s suit, I think he looks great. Love Deadpool.

    • Annika says:

I think a messy ponytail or messy bun would’ve been perfect with her outfit.

      • Rachel says:

The ponytail. Definitely. Deadpool is all about fun and campy. The ponytail would have definitely hit the mark.

  3. Lee says:

I dont like it. Her make up is too harsh and ages her. The earrings are too much, she always tends to overaccessorize.

    • Erinn says:

I really like the lipstick shade though. Not necessarily with everything else – but I want it.

  4. minx says:

I just can never unsee all the procedures she’s had.

  5. i dont know her says:

This is a cute fit and on theme with the coloring.
One thing I hate…er, strongly dislike, about bloke’s styling is its ALWAYS so matchy matchy but here it works.

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

Don’t mind the look but its that red ‘bow’ thing around her waist the kills me and the look.

    • Ankhel says:

Yes! Nothing wrong with a sparkly black tube, but what’s up with the red tablecloth? Is she looking for bulls to pick on?

  7. Other Renee says:

    They both look great.

  8. Bridget says:

DP2 is doing nothing for me. The first one didn’t age well over multiple viewings, and the second looks like more of the same. I know it’s Ryan’s baby, but it’s just so one-note.

Blake’s look doesn’t come together. She always looks 100% finished and polished and posed and I find that fascinating. Is it the type of makeup she wears? The amount? Or is it just her?

    • Alexandria says:

I think it’s her skin and height.

    • Kiddo says:

Agree with you, maybe their philosophy is dont fix something that is not broken. The sequel is more of the same as the first movie, but I dont know, the supporting cast is not relatable. I dont really care with them, especially with time travel story line is just so darn lazy. The soundtrack killing tho

  9. jammypants says:

    Her skin looks amazing

  10. Lala says:

I think they look great! I don’t have an issue with the length of the earrings…as her hair is sleek and molded away from her face…few people can wear the HELL out of fashions they way Blake can…I give her that!

  11. Slowsnow says:

She looks lovely and fun. I also appreciate the fact that, like Rihanna, she seems to embrace all the versions of her body, skinny, less skinny and plump. And without much fuss about it. She comes across as someone who is ok in her skin and pretty happy overall.

  12. Jussie says:

Anywhere else I wouldn’t be into it, but it fits with a Deadpool premiere.

  13. smee says:

I LOVE the sash on her dress – love where it’s at (high) and the way it’s tied. Her long earring look like the straps on her dress broke (don’t really read as earrings – they’re cool and would look good with something else….) Her hair looks wet and I would have gone with a different shade of lipstick.

  14. Zachmom says:

Guys, check out her manicure… is that a little Deadpool on her ring fingernail (pic where she has her hands on her hips)? Now that’s attention to detail! And adorable, IMO!

    • Beth says:

I love Deadpool and I’ll be wearing my Deadpool nail decals again this weekend when I go see the movie

  15. JennyJenny says:

Her earrings look like two long black pipe cleaners hanging from her ears!
But I LOVE Deadpool and can’t wait to see DP2.

  16. Case says:

I appreciate that she dressed in the right colors/theme. But I am SO not a fan of the greasy, flattened hair look. I don’t get why anyone would want their hair to look like that.

    • dj says:

Right? I so cannot with this “hairstyle.” Please finish the look and put the rest in a low ponytail or something. I have yet to see one celebrity/actress look good with this wet looking hairstyle. It’s hideous! Rant over!

  17. tealily says:

It’s kinda cute and I like her hair pulled back from her face, but this style looks like she slept on it and brushed it back with greasy roots. It’s a weird look.

  18. SM says:

If she as aiming a fancy gift box look- she succeeded

  19. Pandy says:

    Love the dress

  20. DianeDiane says:

It needed to be a jumpsuit.

  21. Bluehair says:

What’s the on-set injury she suffered that caused The Rhythm Section filming to be suspended? Very iffy.
