Jack Osbourne and his wife Lisa have been married for a little over five years. They have three daughters, the most recent was born last February. Just last week, Jack posted this Mother’s Day message to Lisa on his Instagram:

Happy Mother’s Day to the mums in my life. Love you lots. Xoxoxo

A week later, Lisa filed for divorce. I’m not going to lie, I’m not shocked any more than I saw the writing on the wall because I haven’t really followed Jack or his marriage. However, according to friends, this was a long time in coming, some say from the start.

Jack Osbourne’s wife, Lisa Stelly Osbourne, has filed for divorce after nearly six years of marriage.

Court documents obtained by ET show that Lisa filed for a dissolution of the couple’s marriage in Los Angeles on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences. In her filing, Lisa also asked the court for spousal support, and asked that attorney’s fees and court costs be paid by Jack. The pair tied the knot in Hawaii in October 2012, and are parents to three daughters, Pearl, 6, Andy, 2, and Minnie, 3 months.

A source tells ET that Jack and Lisa had problems at the start of their marriage and “we all kind of thought it would go this way,” referring to a breakup. But once they started having children, their relationship seemed to improve. “They seemed so happy,” the source adds.

Page Six wrote that sources said that Jack’s been staying with family because of their fights and cites the last nine months as particularly bad. This is all unfortunate because Jack seemed to really straighten himself out in the last decade. After he started a family, he became low-key and seemingly made their well-being his priority. Plus, he’s been focusing on his health since he was diagnosed with MS. However, breakups happen and if they’ve been arguing for as long as these articles say, than separating is probably best for all. According to Jack and Lisa’s statement, they are divorcing before it becomes bitter:

On the surface, this reads like a pretty standard deterioration of a marriage, other than it sounds like they were never conflict-free. The sensational part is that she left so soon after she had a baby. If I were to play armchair therapist, I would say that this decision had been made by at least one of them before Lisa got pregnant with their last child and that the pregnancy just delayed things. But how sad that they fought throughout her pregnancy. If their statement is true then good for them, friendly co-parents will be a much better environment for those girls than bickering married parents. I would be delighted if this became a no-drama divorce but as I said, I have no way of knowing if it will. The only thing I do know is that somehow, Sharon and Kelly will find a way to make this about them and their pain.

An MS diagnosis can be hard on a marriage. Hard on both people separately and it can change personalities. Not sure if that’s what happened here, but I could see how it could.

  2. Una says:

I hope they keep it civil for their children’s sake at least. It is always sad to see parents do irreparable damage to their relationship with kids because of petty divorce drama.

  3. Kelly says:

I’m a little surprised by the name of their baby. On their reality show, Sharon had a very possessive little dog named Minnie. She was a one person dog as evidenced by her biting Kelly when she was sitting too close to Sharon. Let’s name our baby after the little nasty bugger.

    • Beth says:

Even if the dog was a calm sweetheart, who would give their baby the same name as the dog that the world saw everyday on the familys TV show? Wierd choice of a name

    • Va Va Kaboom says:

Maybe the dog was named after an important person in their lives. When I was a child, my mother named our cat after her grandmother for reasons I can’t even remember now. No one in the family has reused the name since my great grandmother passed away, but if they did I hope the fact there was once a cat with the same name wouldn’t deter them from their choice.

3 kids in 6 years, his health issues and Sharon Osbourne for a mother-in-law, I doubt many marriages would be flourishing under that kind of pressure.

They were some rumours on Popbitch in the UK about how tough Lisa found dealing with Sharon, it was implying that Sharon was the classic interfering MIL with no boundaries.

    • Lucy2 says:

My thoughts too- that’s a lot of kids in a short time, especially if his health has issues.
Can you imagine Sharon as a mother-in-law, and Kelly as a sister-in-law?! They are both so awful.

    • Kitten says:

I’m not big into analyzing body language but the photos posted here tell a story. These two women do not look like they are comfortable with one another. Very awkward and tense.

    • Jill says:

They also lost a baby. That takes a toll on a marriage.

  5. Digital Unicorn says:

Sad to hear this – he was always the more likeable Osborne sibling and really turned his life around. With his MS he needs to be in a stress free environment – one of my close friends has it and stress can trigger relapses where she is bedridden.

  6. Erinn says:

His wife is incredibly pretty. I hope that this goes as smoothly as possible for everyone. I do appreciate the sentiment of throwing in the towel before things get TOO bad, so hopefully that’ll make the difference with the divorce.

  7. Veronica S. says:

Divorce sucks, but chronic diagnoses can do that because it alters the dynamic of the marriage. My sister’s marriage fell apart after she was in a car accident that left her with permanent spinal damage. She had always been the tough, protective, reliable one in the marriage, and when that changed things so that her husband had to take up the mantle. all of his underlying insecurities and addiction issues came to light because he lacked the coping skills to deal with such a radical shift in their relationship. My sister was fortunate that they had no children before it happened, so I’d hope these two handle it as amicably as they can.

  8. SJhere says:

Well, according to a blind item on CDAN, Jack cheated on her during her latest pregnancy.
If so, that would be the straw that broke the camels back, IMO.
And yes, I think Sharon would be the Monster-in-law of all time.

  9. Misty says:

I don’t think it has that much to do with his diagnosis. 3 kids in 5 years is a lot of work and he seems to be gone a lot with his dad for their show. That can put a strain on any marriage.

    • still_sarah says:

I know that many people will tell first time parents that they MUST have another one close in age so that the kids can play together or something like that. Also some parents just want to get it (raising young children) done at once and not stretch it out but I personally never understood it. But having even one child can put a strain on a marriage and three close together really puts parents under pressure. Who wouldn’t crumble under that? I feel bad for both of them.

  10. EscapedConvent says:

I noticed the woeful expression on the baby’s face. The poor little thing has just realized that her grandmother is Sharon Osbourne.

  11. Pandy says:

Aw, that little baby looks so solemn! Sorry to hear about their marriage. Never nice.

  12. JRenee says:

Sharon and Kelly will try to demonize her ..
