Debbie Rowe’s attorney says interview with NOTW was completely made up

News of the World ran an explosive supposed interview with Michael Jackson’s first second wife, Debbie Rowe, this weekend. Rowe allegedly told the British tabloid that she intended to relinquish all custody rights to her two children with Michael, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 11, and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 10. The interview also had Rowe claiming that she was inseminated like one of the horses on her farm, and that she didn’t want to see that at all. “I don’t want these children in my life. My children are my animals now.”

The entire interview was fabricated, though, claims Rowe’s attorney, and News of the World has completely removed the article from their website, suggesting that they may fear a lawsuit over it:

Headlines abound suggest a British tabloid claimed that Debbie Rowe, surrogate mother to Michael Jackson’s two children, said the singer wasn’t the father of his proposed children–and that she had no interest in obtaining custody of the kids.

Rowe’s attorney, Marta Almli. exclusively tells RadarOnline.com, “The interview did not occur. The article is a complete fabrication.”

Rowe was married to Michael and had two children with the pop star. She reportedly has never had a relationship with the children.

Almli said she was unable, at this point, to answer any further questions about actions Rowe would be taking in regards to the children.

[From Radar Online thanks to Oxa for the tip]

So does this mean that Rowe might fight for custody of her two older children by Michael? She did try to give up all legal rights to them, but due to a technicality she’s still legally their mother and could potentially gain custody and all of the hefty child support that would come from Jackson’s estate. In February, 2008 she gave a supposedly legitimate interview to the Daily Mail in which she claimed that her animals were her “babies” and cried over the fact that she couldn’t have more children with Michael. It’s likely that News of the World made up all of their quotes based on that older interview, and it did bear a certain resemblance to it – with some dramatic language and more salacious details thrown in for effect. It was all too revealing to be true, though, and now Jackson’s two older children may be involved in a custody battle between their grandparents and their biological mother, who they’ve never known. A lot of people are waiting to see if Rowe issues a statement regarding custody and what her next move might be.

US Magazine reports that the Jacksons will go to court next Monday to “protect their rights to custody of Michael Jackson’s three children.”

Debbie Rowe has issued a statement through her attorney that reads, in part, that her “only thoughts at this time have been regarding the devastating loss Michael’s family has suffered.” Her attorney had no idea whether she would seek custody and asked that the family “be spared such harmful, sensationalist speculation and that they be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace.”

    Now this sounds more accurate.

  2. lisa says:

The damage is done though just like fake autospy story and the Demoral shot story its in cyberspace now and forever.

All i can say is: This magazines have a lot of imagination and they write every kinda of bul..sh..t just to sell their editions. Shame on you, bastards!

To me this sounds like the lawyer told her what to say to sound better… and try to fight for custody. Although she might not have cared for them before MJ’s death now those kids are worth a lot of money in child support. There is NO WAY that they aren’t going to be exploited about it… by either their mom or somebody else from the family. It’s very sad. Reminds me of Athina Onassis’ story 🙁

  5. Zoe (The Other One) says:

NOTW are usually, relatively speaking of course, quite accurate with their ‘shocking showbiz sensation’ stories.

I think my new daily refrain is about to start being ‘those poor children’.

  6. Alecto says:

What kind of hefty child support is she supposed to get when he was supposedly $400,000,000 in debt?

  7. Zoe says:

I have to say this. I remember a time when people didn’t quote National Enquirer, News of the World (where the ‘interview’ came from), Star, The Daily Mail, The Sun, etc., as legitimate news sources. These are after all the same magazines that allege meetings between the president and aliens. Since the invention of blogs, these rags suddenly are taken as some sort of news source to be listened to and believed. Before, people used to read them as a joke, to get a daily laugh. Public standards have dropped to such a low that no one takes responsibility for the news or shows or media they ingest and are so gullible they’ll believe everything, including that reality TV is “real”. I am terrified by the implications of this information and deeply troubled. I already knew this as a Jackson fan, but I am sad to see it continue in death as well. Debbie did a few interviews like ten years ago (by the way, she could be interviewed by any news source in the world. Why would she chose a tabloid, that made her and her husband’s lives living hell?) and the things she had to say were the exact opposite of what’s been written in this ‘interview’. Debbie Rowe loved Michael Jackson and conceded she wasn’t very motherly and would rather him raise them as he was a great parent. I’m sure that will come back to haunt her if she ever seeks custody, but she always had wonderful things to say and had known Michael since he was 16. I’m sure she’ll speak soon, and I guarantee when she does, it won’t be to a ludicrous paper. Please take responsibility and see where the stories are coming from, for once.

  8. Tazina says:

Of course it was made up. Was there really anyone that believed it? It’s News of the World! No wonder tabloids sell.

There are supposedly over 100 new songs he did which now belong to the kids. Plus since his death they have sold millions of CD’s, ipod downloads, videos aired, photos used, all if which generate money. With Michael out of the picture and not spending the money as fast as its made, the kids could end up extremly wealthy, so who ever has custody of them gets money to provide for them.

  10. ! says:

Say what you like Zoe, but sometimes those mags are right. After all, it was National Enquirer who had the guts to post the John Edwards story when not a single other news outlet would touch it. Months later, voila, its a huge story and verifiable at that. And last I checked the only rag making up wild stories like Batboy and aliens is the Weekly World News. I’ve never seen Daily Mail, The Sun, or any of those do that. I may be wrong. But they do *try* to keep up appearances.

  11. ogechi says:

pls pple should allow the king of pop to rest in peace before making up stories..Its unfair at this point to say these things now[sob]

  12. someone says:

It might sound terrible, but I think those kids would be better of in foster care than with Debbie or Joe Jackson and his enabler wife..he abused his own kids for years and his wife allowed it to happen,,he is the cause of Michael being the freak that he was..IMO..Debbie sold those kids to MJ for a hugh paycheck, if she takes them now, it would only be for the money!

  13. emily says:

I think the kids should stay with Janet Jackson. She seems the only normal person in that family

  14. GoGo says:

Alot of the NOTW story sounded like bull. While I wouldn’t be surprised if MJ had used another man’s sperm for the surrogacy, I cannot believe anyone would be so callous to her children (even if she really doesn’t want them) and their family as to say these things during their mourning. She ne’er struck me as being that vindictive and mean.

  15. Fiestarter says:

I figured that story was a big fabrication. I am sure, if the children are not Jackson’s biological children, there was a clause in her contract with him that she keep silent about it.
It should be interesting to see over the next several months how all of this plays out with all parties involved.

  16. Ana says:

He may have been in debt but an artist’s stock rises after they die. I think it was reported that 9 of the top 10 albums were his. The other being Black Eyed Peas.

They are all going to be fighting over the kids because that is where the money is.

  17. BlueSkies says:

!, do not compare the enquirer to NOTW. British publications are not held to the strict rules of American publications. Never, ever trust a British publication. They need to meet the reality known as a lawsuit.

  18. JUDY says:

She tried to get the kids when MJ was accused againof molestation. He wanted her to give up all of her rights to the kids and that he would give her millions of she did and she did but it was done wrong and was tossed out so she still has rights to those kids. I would rather see them with her then with the Jacksons

  19. Beth says:

Not surprising. There’s going to be a lot more fake stories going around.

  20. raven says:

I may be with Judy on this. I don’t want Joe Jackson anywhere near them. From that interview he gave to the young CNN anchor, it seems like he is already spending the money.
