Keeping track of Michael Jackson’s legal affairs is a full-time job. Actually, I’m guessing that’s several people’s full-time jobs. Perhaps a small factory worth of people. Because it is physically impossible for the human brain to hold even 25% of Michael Jackson’s legal data for more than twelve hours. Okay I’m pulling all of this out of thin air, but my point still stands.
I’m going to take you back a few years, to a more simple, innocent time. 2005, to be exact. Back then, Jackson and ex-wife Debbie Rowe were involved in a custody case over their two children. Debbie was trying to completely give up her legal rights to her children, something most people found strange. While that appeared to be what happened, it turns out the case wasn’t followed through properly, and her rights were never terminated. Therefore, custody of Paris and Prince Michael will likely go to her.
Debbie Rowe is poised to take full custody of the two children she bore for Michael Jackson.
It has been widely reported Debbie Rowe gave up her parental rights to Paris and Michael Jr. That is not true.
During the custody fight that Rowe had with Jackson in 2005, she attempted to give up her parental rights, saying Michael was the greatest father ever. Retired Judge Stephen Lachs, who presided over the hearing, initially ruled her rights were terminated … but then Lachs reversed his decision.
Here’s what happened. We spoke with Lance Spiegel, the lawyer who repped Jackson at the time. Spiegel says under the law, the Department of Children and Family Services must conduct a parental fitness investigation before parental rights are terminated and that didn’t happen with Rowe.
So Rowe has never given up any of her parental rights. As a result, under California law, Rowe is now presumed to be the person who will get custody. The only way Rowe can be denied custody is if a court determines it would be “detrimental to the children.”
As for whether Rowe will ask for custody …. our sources say you can bet on it. We’re told if Rowe gets custody she will get “a huge amount of child support from Jackson’s estate.”

From the best I can ascertain, Debbie hasn’t had much of a relationship with her children since she and Michael divorced in 2001. The Daily Mail had a strange interview with her in February 2008 in which she said she saw them once in a while but was more concerned with talking about her animals. She did petition to have her parental rights restored in 2006, even though she was the one requesting their termination in 2005. From the way TMZ phrases it, it sounds like her rights were never terminated due to a technicality or an error, not because of the 2006 application. Though there are so many legal issues it’s hard to be sure. Suffice it to say, if she wants her kids, it looks like Debbie Rowe will have them.
Yikes. I never thought MJ was all that balanced, but I don’t know if it would be in the children’s best interest to have them transferred into the care of Ms. Rowe.
But, then again, it’s not like these kids lived a normal life…ever.

What about Blanket? All three of those kids are not biologically related to Michael Jackson, even if the court and his family do not allow Debbie Rowe to have the kids, she can just ask for a DNA test and vuala.

Say whay you will about his decisions (or choices to put himself in questional situations) but I think it was clear even in photos that he was crazy about his children. I don’t think there is an easy answer as to who should get cuatody but by all accounts, Ms. Rowe is a near-stranger to those children.

Per Dan Abrams attorney, there is a good possibility the children would remain with the Jackson family. Their lives have been with the Jackson’s and consideration would be given to what’s in their best interest, (CA).
If the are going to stay in the Jackson family I hope they end up with Janet, she seems like the most stable member of the family, his brothers travel all the time, his father according to Michael was physically abusive, his mother is a bit too old to have to take care of three young children and Latoya is just, well… kinda creepy.
Ok, I read on CNN that Grace (the kids’ nanny) may get custody of the kids. She had been with MJ for over 20 years (she is early 40’s). I pray that the kid’s mom does not get them back. She is crazier than MJ ever was. She would ONLY be in it for the money… JMHO.
The children should not go to a mother who was willing to give up her rights to them for money. They have had little contact with her. She has not been a mother to them. It would also be inhuman to separate these three children. They need stability and they need to be with someone they know.

Debbie has some very serious mental instability of her own. She is my boss’s neighbor. she sees my boss every day and they talk quite a bit, but she forgets who people are from day to day. It would be insane to put any children in with her, she may forget who they are upon seeing them in the house.
I agree with Sol or CrazyMary. Janet cared and seems pretty stable 9compartiviely) and they’ve known Grace their entire lives. Both would be better homes for the children.
And why would you want to place them with a woman who gave them up in the first place. Money or not, she tried to give them up.
I dunno, I think they might stand a good chance with Rowe. I suspect that the reason she gave them up was because it would be crazy to try to fight someone so powerful and popular and she’d never win. If she got them, they’d be in a house with lots of animals and Rowe isn’t interesting enough to draw media attention for long. That sounds much more stable to me than with the Jacksons.
I don’t think they are his bio kids therefore Debbie is the only bio relative. He may have had a will naming a guardian but that can be contested I guess

Good point, I did forget about her and she certainly is probably the best choice. Either way, for those poor kids to lose your father so young and so publically is so terribly difficult. I just hope that they are able to stay together.
Debbie should NOT get custody at all. She does not have a relationship with the children she tried to give up, plain and simple.
And those are MJ’s children, even if they don’t physically resemble him. How does anyone know if they’re truly his biological children? But it would be wrong to assume that they are not.
The children should remain with the Jacksons or Grace, the nanny/housekeeper, since both parties kept in most frequent contact with the children, unlike their “mother” who appears only in it for the money.
I’m pretty sure that MJ not only had an iron clad will (for what ever he had left) in case of his death but also iron clad rules laid out for what he would like done with and for his children when he died.

Um, I have a really big question. I never ever though those kids were genetically his anyway. So what the heck? I mean, he bleached his skin, but he couldn’t bleach his DNA and those kids are white white white. No one ever really thought they were his bio kids, did they?
You know, its possible that she tried to relinquish all rights because she was so tired of trying, and knowing that she had rights to see them but was effectively blocked by MJ’s money time and time again. We don’t know everything that went on. She could have been very conflicted and frustrated with the way things were panning out and in a state of depression or just “fuggit, I need to cut ties” decided to move on.
Obviously, she was conflicted by the decision because she never followed through, and went back in 2006 to try and reinstate the rights she thought she lost.
I’m sure MJ had plans in his will for who would raise his children if anything should ever happen to him,a nd I’m sure Debbie was not even a consideration.
He probably discussed this with the kids and for all we know it could already be established that they go to someone he knows very well who is not related to him. Maybe they had godparents, so you never know. I’m hoping its someone they are already accustomed too and have a relationship with and who is out of the spotlight.
This promises to be the DanieLynn custody battle all over again, with affection for the kids equal to or dwarfed by the desire for the money spigot they represent.

Just because she is the biological Mother doesnt mean she is the best choie for the kids….they should stay with the nanny since she had been the most stable influence in their lives.
I have never heard of a nanny getting custody over a bio mother. A lot nannies spend more time with their clients kids than the parents so it would give them the advantage.

@Wow I’d be surprised if the “if I die” clause of MJ’s will had been discussed with the kids. In my limited experience most parents have made an arrangement in case of catastrophic accident where both parents die – and not one of them has talked to the kid about it. Unless you were planning on dying (which I get the impression MJ wasn’t) you just don’t talk about it – give the kids the sads. So I assume the kids are in the dark. Presumably they were at home with the nanny – where I live, that would therefore be where they stayed until it was all ruled on in family court.
Man, the Jackson family is messed up! There MIGHT be one or two of them that APPEAR to be normal, but for the most part, they all suffer from serious neurosis.
It’s been repeatedly reported (specifically from Lisa Marie) that MJ knew or suspected he was going to go in a tragic way.
Which leads to 2 certainties: He for sure had legal document drawn up dictating who would reserve custody in the case of an untimely death,
and two: he didn’t care enough about his children to sustain a healthy lifestyle so they wouldn’t have to grow up without a father.
I always assumed that Debbie Rowe was just a surrogate, and not the biological mother at all. She certainly didn’t seem like she ever had any interest in them. Those poor kids-from day one they were going to be messed up.
Debbie Rowe has never had any interest in being a mother to those kids. When the money from Jackson stopped periodically, she’d claim concern over the children and get a court involved. Then when the money spigot was turned on again, she’d retract her lawsuit. She has sold them over and over again to Jackson and it would be a tragedy if she did get them, though I’m sure she’d want them for the child support. And yes, where would Blanket go?

unfortunately the state of california is very biased when it comes to custodial cases. not all bio-moms are always the best choice. I hope these kids stay together as the siblings that they are and go to an honest and loving home. MJ was a little off but it looked like he loved those kids.

Maybe its just me but just because someone is a biological mother it doesn’t make them a “mother”. For example a mother on crack or who is self-destructive won’t get custody of her kids just because she physically gave birth to them.

Surrogate and biological mother are the same thing, unless he had someone else’s fertilized egg implanted in this woman. Why wouldn’t he just find a surrogate who could carry her own child with supplied sperm? I suspect she is the biological mom. However, I doubt very seriously he was the bio dad.

wow, unfortunately in california, they probably would. My husband had custody of his child since she was a baby up until she was 5 yrs old. All of a sudden, mother came out after yrs of no contact, fought for custody and got it because she is the “mother”. Even though my husband never did anything bad to have the court disfavor him. She never gave a dime in child support, visited or called. I have no faith in the system and wish the best for these kids who have lost their father 🙁
I agree with mum mum about the Jackson family, especially when the grandparents have been proven by their own children (not just rumors or hearsay but serious accounts of mistreatment and violence that should not be ignored) that they were unfit, physically and mentally damaging parents so why do some people want MJ’s kids to go to them, plus they are simple too old to take care of them probably. Debbie Rowe might not look good in the eyes of the public for choosing to give full custody to MJ for whatever reason but what does it say about MJ also on this arrangement.
Although I do agree the kids should be given to a stable and loving family, more preferable outside the Jackson clan. However, if there is only the option of the kids going to the MJ’s parents or Debbie Rowe then Rowe is the better choice for them to have a much more normal life. If the two older kids do go with Debbie Rowe, then there is a great chance the the youngest child Blanket will join them as well because the courts would still want all three of the kids to stay together.
@lrm: I’ve seen vitiligo and it doesn’t look like that. Vitiligo starts out as a small patch of skin that becomes depigmented and the patch becomes bigger as the depigmentation spreads. Meanwhile, other areas on the skin become lose color as well. But the depigmentation takes a long time and it doesn’t occur all at once. The skin has a very patchy look for many months. Jackson did something to his skin to bleach it out all at the same time and he ended up looking like a zombie. It’s sad how he deliberately mutilated himself like that because he used to be a very good-looking kid.
Whatever had been done to MJ’s skin whether naturally or chemically, genetically Michael had dark skin, so if he is the biological father of the three children then each child should look somewhat bi-racial but none of them do, AT ALL. Debbie Rowe also confessed couple of years ago in court documents that both Paris and Prince were conceived by an anonymous sperm donor and not MJ’s. Now, this does not make Michael Jackson any less of a father to his kids but it does give Debbie Rowe a strong case to fight with and the courts do take those facts into serious consideration.
I know nothing about this, and my assumptions no doubt will sound ignorant to some but I always thought that MJ wasn’t the bio father and nor was Rowe the bio mother. I thought I’d read/heard/seen somewhere that she was just carrying the children from sperm and egg donations (IVF? Sorry…I’m really not educated on all this stuff!). I understood that the third child was carried by a surrogate but was genuinely MJ’s bio kid.
In other news; those poor kids – they are stuck between a rock and hard place now. He had vitiligo since the late 80’s. Initially his makeup artist would use dark brown makeup to cover up the discolored areas(white). It would take hours eventually the affected areas became to large so she used pale makeup to cover the remaining brown skin. After that I think he used a bleaching agent to even everything out to distatrous effects.Google Tv anchor Lee THomas UsaToday and you will say a pic of the tv anchor who is turning white. He uses brown makeup to cover the white now but at some point he said he is going to start using”white ” makeup. Look at his hands in the picture.
MJ admitted in the past to bleaching his skin and he said it was to address that skin condition.
Quite honestly, I think he had Body Dysmorphic Disorder, as evidenced also by his numerous disfiguring, it’s-never-enough plastic surgeries. I think the bleaching of the skin was a way to deal with the self-hatred he felt. Many feel it was a way to look like anyone but his father.
I also agree the kids are not biologically his. They look completely white, not a bit biracial. He did not bleach his DNA.

You can’t say someone is white just by looking at them. I am black and my husband is white. My son has blue eyes and light brown hair. I am always afraid people think I am his nanny. He does not look like he has any black in him at all.
I really hope Debbie gets all 3 kids together – to keep the family intact. Matriarch Jackson is 79 years old and if something happens to her (G-d forbid), they kids would have to be transferred to another home. Papa Jackson was horrible to his own kids and I’d hate to see how he would reacte to having white grandkids live there. Debbie Rowe was adopted from a millionaire family and has the means (without going bankrupt) to raise all 3 kids, which I’m sure the kids would have some means to be taken care of. It really worries me when I hear about the children going with “their grandmother”. I put that in quotes because no one ever mentions and grandfather – but they never divorced right? And Joe was allegedly terribly abusive to his own kids, who all seem to have fairly serious issues from it.

Wow, this is a HUGE mess! Unfortunately, neither the Jacksons or Debbie Rowe would be the best people to raise these kids. The grandmother is very old, the grandfather has a history of child abuse and Rowe doesn’t even know them. It would be nice if one of the Michael’s brothers (who all have families) could provide a healthy environment for them.
BTW, Rowe has stated publicly that the children were conceived thru artificial insemination with a donor sperm. Michael turned himself white thru plastic surgery and skin bleaching and didn’t want black children. Now that’s sad.

The children are used to celebrity and the way of life and a judge will take that into account. It is always what is in the best interests of the children, debbie will probably bet given unlimited visitation rights I would expect. That’s not a perfect science. My mother is lightskinned and my father is dark. My mother has a recent history of interracial marriage in her ancestry being part Irish, Jewish, Black. My father although dark also has a mix ancestry of Black, French, and Native American. Between my siblings some of us are very light and some are very dark. One of my sisters who is dark married a man who is also dark and they have very light kids. It’s all genetics. It’s very possible that the kids are MJs. The older Prince looks a lot like MJ to me he’s just very very light with straight hair.

I can’t say for certain the MJ is the father but complexion of the parents doesn’t doesn’t determine what color the kids will come out as. I also see “traces” of black in them. As if there is some one classic set of features for black people.
I really thought everyone knew those kids weren’t biologically his. They showed a pic this morning on TV of the oldest child and MJ and it was a very recent pic and the child looked to be about 10 or 11, maybe 12, and he had no mask on and that child is as white as white can be. There’s light biracial and there’s white. That kid’s white. So are the other two.
Nothing wrong with that, he’s been their dad since they were born, but they don’t share DNA, that’s for sure.
I agree with Shay, the oldest boy looks like Michael Jackson, the same body-type,face shape,eye shaped, shoulders. He looks like Michael. I think the kids look somewhat Biracial, similar to Mariah Carey type.

I saw Mr. Joe Jackson in person and he has BLUE EYES and is not darkskinned, but a light to medium brown. Michael as a boy was brown skinned, but not dark as people keep saying.
I saw Michael once in Beverly Hills at the doctors office about 7 years ago and I was being treated for vittilago. Michael was leaving the dotors office and security had blocked off the elevator, but looked me over and then let me enter, it was Michael inside. My treatment involved using a UV Light on my skin, but , there are some treatments where the person affected with vittiago, simply let’s the rest of their skin match the vittilago part, because it has spread so widely over the face, this is usually not as noticable in lighter skin people.
I also don’t think Debbie may have been a IVF surrogate. I am not sure she wants to really fight this, because a lot will come out possibly.
I hope the children go to the Jackson family, Mrs. Jackson and Rebee Jackson are their family.

I actually feel a bit sorry for Debbie Rowe and think she deserves a fair shake at custody of her kids. Can you imagine her position? Maybe she thought if she had jacko’s kids, he would keep her around, and then he dumped her like a hot potato? But she has showed that she cares in some respect by stepping forward after the molestation charges and the islam flap. She should get a fair hearing and the court should consider placing Blanket with her also — so long as their long-time nanny remains employed by her and they have access to the larger Jackson family. A transition period between the Jacksons and Rowe can be accomplished. And, they would probably have a much more normal life living with Debbie Rowe than with the Jackson family. Now with MJ out of the picture, it might be easier for her to gain access to her kids and it may not be just about the money. However, if the court lets them remain with the Jacksons for now, Rowe should accept some type of visitation — because then what happens after Katherine Jackson dies? Is she is serious, Rowe needs to start becoming a more concrete presence in their lives. If there was any time for her to prove that it is not just about money, it is now — particularly if she is NOT granted custody — if she insists on visitation rights, then maybe her motives are on the level.

I saw on the news that debbie sold those kids to Michael and if she wants them back then she should give them the money back. And let her baby’s daddy pay his own child support.
If she sold them once she may sell them again or put them on ebay or something. What kind women would give away her kids for money?
Personally, I think Debbie should get all three children… without the money. Put it all in a trust fund for when they are much older or something. That ought to finally make her the mother she should/could have been all these years. (On the other hand, I really believe she wanted to be involved with the kids, but never got the chance because of her promise to MJ and continual paparazzi interference.) She is, after all, their bio mom in the eyes of the law, whether she or anyone else likes it or not. Bring those kids up on what she has now, so they can lead a more normal life without all that corrupting money. You’d see how fast the cameras would disappear, if so!!
Or, give all his money to the Jackson clan, as payback for them looking the other way with Michael. Let ’em choke on it. Joe Jackson just tossed his hat into the three ring custody circus. Why? To exploit them of course, like he did with his own kids. No way, I say. He had his chance, and blew it. No do-overs with children!
Jermaine also talked mainly about himself in the interview with Matt Lauer, showing off with singing, etc., citing “he” was MJ’s “backbone”. Ha! Where was his “backbone” when his little brother was seeking peace in drugs, huh?
Where was anyone who gave a good damn? Maybe that’s the central point of Michael’s drug abuse. He wanted someone–anyone–to step up to the plate—for him, not for what they could get. He knew, and it killed him. The only one who came close was Lisa Marie, and even she couldn’t hack it. She had nothing to gain from him. I pray those kids lose all their (legal) father’s money. It might be the best thing for them. Let the lawyers get whatever’s left. At least the children will know they are loved for themselves, keeping Michael’s fatherly legacy alive in them. It’s what their father was seeking all his life, after all, and he would certainly want that for the children of his heart.
The Jackson family should keep the kids. Debbie has had no connection with the kids and by her own accounts wanted no connection. And for those that said give Blanket to her, you must be truly insane! If she didn’t want her own kids what kind of mother do you think she will be to Blanket. Get real. I do think that after the children have had time to heal and deal with the changes in their lives that if Debbie and the children desire they should be allowed visitation rights so they can get to know each other. The children are old enough to have some say in what they want.

I think that the kids should go to janet, because she seems like a motherly figure to them. Ms katherine is also a good choice, but she can b grandma tot he children becaus shes a tad up in age, janet should have custody because michael trusted her the most. The children dnt even kno debbie rowe to call her mommy, or mum. I dnt think its best rowe gets the kids. If she didnt want the kids when they were little, she doesnt need em now. So, Debbie Rowe comes out smelling like the wistful mom. Makes one wonder how much they promised/gave her to not fight custody? Leading to…. now wondering why the Jackson clan were so adamant and single-minded re: wanting Michael’s wishes respected re: his children, but not his equally stated wishes for the overseers of his $$$$. Seems that’s where their loyalty stops. Maybe Michael knew if his family got ahold of his millions, there would eventually be nothing left for his grown children to go to even a state college on scholarships. Hmmm…. nobody ever said he was stupid, just weird. Weird doesn’t mean blind.
What amazes me about the Debbie Rowe crap is that if she were Black, her name would be mud and talked about like she is the scum of the earth for giving up her children, which Debbie Rowe is in my opinion, why now after all of these years does she want to have contact with her children, so you are showing pictures of the children before she gave them up, has she had any kind of contact with her biological children since she was paid off by Michael Jackson, if she was a Black mother in the same situation we would never hear the end of how unfit she was and should not even be allowed visitation or to even mention their name in public, she should not have any say as to how these children are raised whatsoever, she was a dental assistant who saw money $$$$$$$ with Michael and now low and behold she does not have to work another day in her life.

I’m black. I was beaten as a child for the simplest infractions, sometimes until blood ran. That’s the only way my dad was satisfied that I’d “learnt my lesson”. Punishment never fit the crime. However, I have NEVER considered it akin to slavery. Nobody owned me–that mindset saved my mental state and dignity through the years.
It was the result of a horrible man who had anger issues and little to no social skills. Did I ever trust him with my children? Never. He raised his hand to my oldest once and I stood in the way. He backed off, but I still do not allow him to be alone with them and they know why, too. Dad did give me one piece of advice that was good. Be black, be proud, but never mistake arrogance for pride.
Sounds like you, too, have anger issues, and you need to deal with them rather than blaming them on every one and every thing else in life. My skin didn’t get me beat. A bent, twisted mind did. Was listening to a show on the radio last week where the topic was parents who have never been in their children’s lives/or hardly ever suddenly demanding to he with them. The consensus was that such parents were purely selfish – only concerned with themselves and comtemptuous of their long lost children’s feelings on the matter and how it could impact on THEIR lives.
