Paul Manafort attempted to tamper with witnesses as he was on house arrest

I love when we get updates on all of these traitors who have already been indicted in the Special Counsel’s Trump-Russia investigation. Paul Manafort was one of the first dominos to fall, and it’s widely believed that he’s already partially sold out Donald Trump and some of the Trump family peeps, like Jared Kushner. But it’s also believed that Robert Mueller wants to “flip” Manafort even further, and get Manafort to dump out his purse on every single person he’s ever made a shady deal with, from dictators to despots to Ukrainians to Americans. Manafort has been reticent to sell out some of his high-paying Ukrainian contacts though. And now this:

President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who has been indicted by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, attempted to tamper with potential witnesses, Mueller said in a court filing on Monday. Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, asked the judge overseeing the case in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to revoke or revise an order releasing Manafort ahead of his trial. Manafort was released to home confinement after his arraignment in October.

Mueller has indicted Manafort in federal courts in Virginia and Washington, D.C., with an array of allegations from money-laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent, to bank and tax fraud. Manafort has pleaded not guilty.

FBI Special Agent Brock Domin, in a declaration filed with Mueller’s motion, said Manafort had attempted to call, text and send encrypted messages in February to two people from “The Hapsburg Group,” a firm he worked with to promote the interests of Ukraine. The FBI has documents and statements from the two people, as well as telephone records and documents recovered through a search of Manafort’s iCloud account showing that Trump’s former campaign manager attempted communication while he was out on bail, according to Domin.

The communications were “in an effort to influence their testimony and to otherwise conceal evidence,” Domin wrote. “The investigation into this matter is ongoing.”

Tampering with witnesses is a big deal, but how f–king dumb is Paul Manafort? He got millions of dollars from illegal lobbying, he was working for foreign governments AS HE WAS TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN MANAGER, and then to top it all off, he’s tampering with witnesses from encrypted messages as he’s on house arrest!! Manafort’s trial starts in September. Do you think he’ll flip before then? Or will Trump try to pardon Manafort before the trial even starts? LOL, we’re so screwed (but so is Manafort).

Need to edit ‘wants to “flip” Mueller to Manafort.

  2. Rapunzel says:

And Bigly’s whining that the FBI didn’t tell him Manafort was under investigation when he was hired for the campaign. B-tch, please. FBI doesn’t owe you that sort of warning. They don’t have to to tell a suspect that they are under investigation, and they certainly don’t need to tell you . It was your campaign, you are responsible.

Manafort is totally going to get his bail revoked, and he deserves it .

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

Time to get him an orange jumpsuit

I swear I can’t even keep up with all this crap, it all makes me sick to my stomach.

  6. Giddy says:

Trump is sending out his own signals to all involved that he intends to make great use of his ability to pardon them. I have a question for lawyers: does Trump have to wait until after trials and convictions to pardon Manafort, Cohen, etc.? Because I want to hear what Mueller has on them!

  7. NoShame says:

I love how he sent secret communications to witnesses that literally started out with…This is Paul.

These people are the kind of criminals you find in a Cohen Brothers movie.

      Lol! Precisely.

      It’s Stupid Watergate.

    • Janetdr says:

That’s true! The sad part is can we/ when can we repair the damage to the environment , replace his judicial appointments, get power back to the people vs corporations, regain trust with the rest of the world?

  8. Becks1 says:

This is the kind of headline that I read and think, “of course he did.”

Also I feel like all these guys are going to give Mueller Kushner and maybe DTJ. I can’t imagine Paul Manafort liking Kushner and I can just see him dying for an opportunity to turn on him.

Especially since Kushner pushed for Comey’s firing which got us Mueller and got Manafort into even hotter water than he was in already.

  9. NeoCleo says:

This greasy knob just can’t stay out of trouble, can he?

  10. jferber says:

Lock him up. Revoke his bail. Send him to jail.

  11. Taxi says:

I want him fined heavily & jailed for many years. If he dies of old age while in the clink, that’d be fine.

  12. Miasys says:

I think I remember reading on another celebitchy story that 45 pardoning him before he’s been tried/convicted actually hoses him in the long run. A presidential pardon doesn’t get him out of the state charges, so dude is screwed no matter what. As far as im concerned, they are all guilty AF & cannot be locked up fast enough…although I understand that especially now, the due process of law needs to followed. Legal peeps, please weigh in and clarify?

    • jetlagged says:

Not a legal peep, but in theory Trump could give Manafort a presumptive pardon (like what Ford did for Nixon), and yes Manafort would still be on the hook for any state charges.

A fun fact I didn’t realize until I did a little Googling of presidential pardons is that they don’t apply to impeachments. We can’t depend on the Republicans in Congress to do their patriotic duty, so everyone vote Dem in November!

      • Tiffany :) says:

Impeachment isn’t a conviction, so you can’t be pardoned from it. There are no legal consequences. It is a political move, removing you from holding office. It isn’t a conviction, though.

    • Tiffany :) says:

State charges will only work if the state doesn’t have laws on the books that say it is double jeopardy to charge someone for crimes they have been pardoned for. New York currently has such a law in place, which would prevent them from bringing state charges against anyone Trump pardons (for the same actions). This issue is getting attention in NY, and some are advocating for the laws to be changed ASAP.

  13. Reef says:

This is painfully stupid. How are you still committing federal crimes while under house arrest? He’s about to spend the summer in jail until his trial.

  14. Fluffy Princess says:

Ha ha! These guys have been getting away with stuff for so long, buying their way out of trouble and legal issues that they never bothered to hide it.

The one reason that Manafort held out for so long was that supposedly he had tons of money to afford those pricey attorneys that have been trying to get him off or his sentence reduced by finding “technicalities” that the FBI or whomever messed up on. So far, all of those tries have been swatted down by Judges. But now, supposedly the money well is dry. From The Palmer Report:

*Two things recently transpired which failed to get the headlines they should have. The first was that, two weeks ago, Paul Manafort’s former son-in-law cut a plea deal against him. The second was that this past week, **Manafort’s friends set up a legal defense fund for him, thus confirming that he’s out of money. When the people closest to you start flipping on you, and you can no longer afford your high priced lawyers, it’s usually a sign that you’re done.**
