Everybody say love! (Sorry, I’m still excited over RuPaul’s Emmy nominations.) Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox has kept her love life on the down low, but took to social media to wish her beau a happy first anniversary. The 46-year-old actress posted a collage with boyfriend Kyle Draper and the caption, “Happy 1 year anniversary babe. I love you so much!”
Back in April, Laverne shared the first photo ofKyle on Instagram. She confessed that she met him on Tinder, admitting, “I’m a Tinder girl. When I broke up with my ex, I went back on Tinder, because I feel like if you want to date, you have to be on the apps. You have to be on the apps to be in the game.”
She added, “It’s really dumb luck that we met and clicked.” Tinder does get a bad rap, and some of it is deserved, but look at Laverne and Kyle. It can work sometimes. Heck, I met Kevin on Tinder and we’ve just celebrated our two-year anniversary, so there’s that.
Things have been going swimmingly for Laverne and Kyle. She told People in April that “I’m in love. He’s amazing on so many different levels, I’ve never experienced that before.” The couple have even met each other’s families and, according to her, “Everybody gets along. His family’s amazing. My mom likes him. It’s good.” This from a woman who’s been through it with boyfriends already, telling Cosmopolitan in January that, “As a black transgender woman, I’ve often been kept a secret by the men that I’ve dated.”
I’m really happy for her and Kyle is a cutie, but my main takeaway from this is that I really need to catch up on Orange is the New Black. I’d also like to get a campaign started to get Laverne on Pose. That would be awesome.

So happy for them!! And yes, we need to see more of Laverne. She has great comedic timing so someone get this woman a sitcom or a starring role in a movie already.
I’m so over Orange is the New Black. It lost me mid-season 3. However, the cast is great and I’m always happy to see them when they pop up somewhere in some capacity.
She’s 46??!! I was sure she was at least 10 years younger. Congrats to her and the bf!!

I think she is just so beautiful. I love her. I’m glad she has found love with someone who is proud to be with her. What she said about having many boyfriends who wanted to keep her hidden or secret…that’s just so sad.

I saw her speak at an event a few months and she was excellent. I have never seen the show and knew very little about her, so I didn’t know what to expect. She was such a fantastic speaker – you really could not take your eyes off of her.
They look so sweet together. 💕
