Kirstjen Nielsen thinks ‘both sides’ are to blame for Russian meddling & Nazism

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen holds a news briefing at the White House

Kirstjen Nielsen is such a piece of work. This a–hole is the Homeland Security Secretary and she should have been fired months ago. She was the same jackass who gave one of the worst press conferences I’ve ever seen regarding all of the migrant children being kept in cages (which, incidentally, IS STILL HAPPENING). But since we’re talking about Russia and treason this week, Nielsen had some sh-t to say about that. For good measure, she threw in some appalling comparisons to the white supremacist terrorism in Charlottesville last year.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said Thursday that Russia undoubtedly interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but declined to say directly that those efforts were aimed at helping elect Donald Trump.

“Russia was absolutely attempting to interfere in our election systems,” Nielsen said during an interview at the Aspen Security Forum. She endorsed the U.S. intelligence community assessment of Russian meddling “full stop,” she said later.

But pressed by moderator Peter Alexander of NBC News, Nielsen downplayed that the effort was aimed to benefit Trump, calling it “an effort to attack certain political parties … more than others” and saying Russia’s primary purpose is to “sow discord” in the U.S.

“I haven’t seen any evidence that the attempts to interfere in our election infrastructure was to favor a particular political party,” Nielsen said. “I think what we’ve seen on the foreign influence side is they were attempting to intervene and cause chaos on both sides, right, whether it was in Charlottesville where we saw them on both sides, whether it’s in Syria, both sides… So, no, I would not necessarily say that was the purpose. I think the overall purpose is to sow discord and get us all to fight against each other rather than understand who the enemy is.”

Pressed further during an audience question-and-answer session, Nielsen again underscored her support for the election interference assessment, but again ducked whether Russia’s aim was to help Trump and hurt his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

BOTH SIDES! Don’t you know that BOTH SIDES are responsible for everything that happened? Violent white supremacists marched in Charlottesville and assaulted counterprotesters who, you know, just want to live peacefully in a multiracial, multiethnic society. Those Nazis killed a young woman, but BOTH SIDES had issues, so I guess Heather Heyer was murdered by Nazis because she was somehow to blame. Same with Russia: obviously Hillary Clinton was to blame AS WELL for how Russia hacked the DNC, spearphished her campaign staffers and actively threw the election for Donald Trump. Both sides, let me tell you.

The only both side about any of this is that Trump is kissing both sides of Putin’s ass.

    • Raina says:

Yeah both sides of the face she’s talking out of.
This will probably affect my karma as well, but I saw Human Centipede the other day (was not my idea) and I couldn’t help thinking how amazing this would be for her and her ilk. They all talk out of their ass, anyway.

  2. Maya says:

I know this will affect my karma but I want all of the Republicans and Trump suffer horrendously for everything they have done.

I don’t want them to die but instead, suffer while they are still alive. I want them to lose power, wealth and be treated like cockroaches rest of their lives.

    • Millenial says:

Yeah, I feel that way about the health care. Oh, you didn’t want health care for all when you were healthy? But now you are old and sick and want to the government to pay for everything? NOPE.

    • Darla says:

Some of them should be tried for espionage and executed upon conviction.

This one here is a nazi. But I don’t think she’s involved with the espionage, so I will go with your plan of life long suffering.

  3. Lightpurple says:

Where did they find this hate-filled imbecile?

    • RBC says:

At the bottom of the “swamp” they drained

    • Indiana Joanna says:

I’ve read former classmate comments who say they are shocked by the person she’s become. Yes, she was always a conservative but they couldn’t foresee how she would be part of such a cruel policy and administration.

She thinks this is a once in a lifetime job opportunity. She is the face of a cruel, totally unnecessary program that is destroying lives. It seems she was a power hungry monster all along, her classmates just didn’t know her well.

      • Esmom says:

Yeah, I read that hundreds of alumni from her high school have called on the headmaster to condemn her actions and have raised money for victims of her heinous policies.

    • Christin says:

Wasn’t she recommended by J. Kelly? Birds of a feather and all that…

    • magnoliarose says:

At an alt-right conference. She is a white supremacist. I wish the media would start outing people like her and her racist ties.
I want to say some of the rumors about her are sexist but she’s so terrible and she hangs around with such vile misogynists that I begin to believe them.

  4. anniefannie says:

History will not be kind to these @ssholes!!
    that’s all I got, too f¥cking depressed….

  5. Ninks says:

If by both sides she means Russia on one side and the Republicans on the other side, then yeah, I agree.

  6. Rocio says:

I just realized she looks like an older Betty Gilpin. When the movie version of this shitshow era finally arrives in 10-15 years time I can only assume that Betty will be the easiest casting decision the directors ever make.

    • Mel says:

What you are seeing are not age-related wrinkles. It’s the ugliness of her soul seeping through…

      • Betsy says:

Ha ha – too true. All of these horrible people – men and women I never the Trump Debacle Against America – all look horrible, like their souls are leaking out, screaming in agony.

Roger Stone – looks like a 1960s Batman villain in your nightmares
Sarah Huckabee Sanders – looks like the cruelty and lies are melting her face
Jeff Sessions – an evil hobbit
        Ivanka – Elizabeth Bathory
Donald Jr – a chinless bro douche

      • magnoliarose says:

Donald Jr has hips like he could give birth to quads in his sleep. AND YES I am full on body shaming that asshole.

      • Giddy says:

Thank you to all of you for making me laugh. That’s not something I do very often when considering these evil people. Remember, the scariest people don’t look like monsters, they look like our neighbors. Luckily, when they open their mouths they give themselves away.

      • Trashaddict says:

Not into appearance-shaming either but the evil just emanates out of that nasty-a$$ face she always makes. She looks like she would deck you if you got in her way.

  7. Mel says:

Are we still using the « both sides » thing in 2018?
Also, we DO know it was in favor of orange.
Putin said so himself and even McConnell’s twenty chins couldn’t stop the Senate Intelligence Committee to reach the same conclusion.
She deserved so much worse than the heckling she got for her trolling efforts. So much worse…

    • Betsy says:

People were using it on here yesterday! As if the Democrats were remotely as bad as the treasoning, locking babies in cages, grafting, anti-choice Republicans.

    • Jerusha says:

I belong to the Mobile Progressives group on FB and there are some sanctimonious Bernie c@&ksuckers on there who pop up regularly to say, “ Democrats better do such and such or we won’t support, blah, blah, blah.” I still place a lot of blame on them.

      • magnoliarose says:

I don’t understand your statement. At this point we know FB is a den of Russian trolls who sow discontent. How do you know any of those people are legit? They swarm social media and are ramping it up for the mid terms.
I blame the tens of millions who voted for 45. Liberals can’t save them from themselves.

      • Jerusha says:

@magnoliarose. They’re legit. They live here in Mobile. I’ve seen them at meetings.

    • hogtowngooner says:

I had one guy on my Twitter feed constantly try to “both sides” me, claiming “antifa are responsible for so much worse but no one mentions that durr durr!” I wanted to lay into him and tell him that antifa are a boogeyman for the alt-right and their band of knuckle-draggers, and are trotted out for the sole purpose of deflecting from and diluting their own disgusting behavior.

It’s intellectually lazy to pretend that both sides are just as bad as each other because antifa broke a window during a protest in which a Nazi plowed into a group of people and killed someone.

  8. Original T.C. says:

I see that she found some free time away from kidnapping underage children to spread misinformation about Putin’s cyberattack on our country. Hopefully someone in her department tutored her regarding the predominant racial group in Norway. She didn’t know last time she was asked by congress. Maybe one of our Norwegian friends from Celebitchy can school her. Talk about selling your soul to Trump.

    • Betsy says:

      I’m confused – I don’t remember that exchange.

      • Christin says:

It was one of her earlier hits during Senate testimony. She did not know if Norwegians were predominantly white. Said the woman named Kirstjen…

  9. Tiffany says:

    THIS BITCH, UGH!!

I also tried counting to ten but this one made me feel better.

  10. why? says:

People like Kristen are the major problem with the civility argument. Now is not the time to play nice with this WH and it’s staffers. Why are all the women who work for the WH so complicit? They give interviews and leak stories about how they are strong, intelligent, and independent women, but in reality they are just puppets. They will do and say anything in defense of the Dotard, even when it makes them look very bad. Nikki H was praised for pushing back when the WH tried to throw her under the bus, but what has she done since then? She fell in line and faithfully repeats the Dotard’s talking points. This is the same thing that Kristen N is doing. The Dotard used the both sides defense and now you have Kristen N faithfully repeating it because keeping her job in the WH is her one and only priority.

While we are talking about Kristen N, we should not forget Stephen Miller, Sessions, Kris Kobach, and Mick M, who are creating chaos while hiding in the shadows. Every time the press takes their eyes off of these 4, they do something truly horrendous.

The republicans and WH staff aren’t worried about how they will be remembered in history because like the book 1984, they will just rewrite history. They have been doing this in the press for quite some time when they leak positive stories about themselves or like Dan Coats completely scrub his meeting with a sanctioned Russian from the memories of the press.

Beyond this, look at her job description: When/if disaster strikes, will she be at all competent?

  13. adastraperaspera says:

Just when I think my my Outrage Meter is broken, some idiot from the Trump administration issues another statement that is odious, and just plain wrong! There are only three explanations for Nielsen’s outright lies:

    1. Ideology. She’s certainly behaving like she is a racist, and even sources from inside the Whitehouse have reported that she laughs at racist jokes and seems deplorable.
    2. Blackmail. Maybe this 46-year old conservative single gal is a closet lesbian, and so rising in the ranks means she must play along or risk exposure.
    3. Double Agent. Are she and Kelly wired? She is clearly most loyal to Kelly, having come into the administration with him. Are they helping Mueller gather evidence against the Trump clowns? Unlikely, and yet I have had a hard tim believing that Kelly would risk a court martial for a draft-dodger like Cheeto.

  14. philomena says:

Anyone want to deconstruct why Trump likes line his defense with women? (that’s how I see it – I don’t see these indivudals as people who do their jobs well, with the exception of Sanders) I believe the man has a pretty fundamental hatred of women on a certain level.
I guess my personal bet is that he enjoys anyone that is obsequious and unfortunately, that’s more likely to be conservative women.

  15. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I am quite surprised she could manage to form those words, with her lips being so firmly attached to his fat, flabby, white, old ass.

  16. Nunyabizness says:

she looks so evil in the first pic.

  17. JRenee says:

They have put the most vile, heartless, awful people in power.

  18. Chelsea poole says:

    Classic blame-the-victim anuser* tactics!

*Meant to write “abuser” but 1) strangely, autocorrect didn’t catch this, and 2) Imma keep the typo. It works.

  19. elle says:

Since they typically blame the left exclusively for everything, when they say, “both sides,” they’re pretty much admitting their culpability.

  20. themummy says:

    Dear Kirstjen,

People who are anti-Nazi are not also responsible for Nazism.

    Drink bleach.

    Love,

  21. Rescue Cat says:

‘Both sides’ are definitely beholden to Wall Street to the detriment of ordinary Americans. Bring on the Democratic Socialists!
