This story is gloriously dumb, but it’s what we deserve this week. It seems that Prince Harry is retiring his bachelor “sports car” now that he has a lovely wife. Harry isn’t wasteful though – he’s not going to be one of those men with a garage full of cars (like William). No, Harry is selling his royal p-ssywagon (emphasis on WAGON), an Audi RS6 Avant. He apparently listed it on Auto Trader!!
Trading in your luxurious sports car for a family-friendly people carrier is a tell-tale sign you’re about to start a family. And it seems Prince Harry could be about to embark on this momentous milestone after the 33-year-old’s sports car has been listed on Auto Trader. The Duke of Sussex has owned the Audi RS6 Avant for over 12 months and was spotted behind the wheel while driving to Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception last year.
And while the vehicle is a five-seater, it’s certainly not as spacious as Prince William and Kate’s family-friendly Land Rover, which seats seven. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also had to transition to a bigger vehicle when they started their family. Before Prince George was born, Prince William was often seen driving a sporty Audi.
Advertised as “Prince Harry’s old car”, the sporty vehicle is currently listed on Auto Trader by car dealership Overton Prestige and is expected to sell for a whopping £71,900. The luxurious vehicle features a range of royal-worthy extras including a panoramic sunroof, heated front and rear seats, as well as a top speed restriction increase of 174mph.
“This is a smashing car perfectly suited to any aspiring royal,” said Auto Trader’s editorial director, Erin Baker. “The Audi RS6 Avant is one of the fastest estate cars on the market doing 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, and it has a roaring exhaust to excite any petrol head. The car boasts a 17 reg and low mileage, so it begs the questions why is the Prince selling so soon? Maybe he’s on the market for a bigger family car.”
So, that’s the headline – Harry Selling His Sports Car To Prepare For Fatherhood. Except once I had a good look at this Audi… it already looks like a family car? That’s the reason I put sarcasm-quotes around “sports car.” This is a sleek four-door station wagon. It would be perfect for a couple with just one baby. But continue talking about all the changes Harry is making to prepare for Polo Baby.

In petrol head circles they’re known as family wagons with that added grunt. He isn’t selling this because he wants kids, it does the job of being practical perfectly well. He’s probably just selling it because he wants something else.

I have a Q5 and the R6 looks very similar. Neither are sports cars but are crossovers, not a sedan but not as large as an SUV.

Soccer mom here with a MB wagon I rarely get compliments on my boring wagon but when I do it’s always from a guy. Some men have things foe wagons. I wish I could get a high end fast wagon like that….dreamy. it’s so sexy when my husband drives my wagon.
Curious. How do you know william has a garage full of cars unlike harry? William has a private car (seven seater) and a public car (they use it when on offical business). Harry had a private car (this one) and a public car (wich he uses for offical business). So it’s looking they have both the same.
@Nonnon– I think it has been reported William collects cars. But even if that’s not true, remember when that child asked Kate how many cars they had? Kate laughed and stammered about and finally said she had a Land Rover. It wasn’t a difficult question…hardly like being asked where babies come from on camera but it seemed like a difficult question for Kate.

My 37 yo boyfriend loves his Acura TSX sports wagon as much as he loves me and the dog combined. Even when I ignore his rambling on about it’s many luxury features and superiority to my Fiesta the facts still seep in. If Megan is like me and Harry is like my boyfriend, I’m guessing she threatened to turn NPR to a very high, almost unsafe moderate level to drown out the prattle or enticed him with a new car option.
I’m thinking Harry will upgrade to an identical vehicle to William’s when ready to pick up MM and polo baby from Lindo Wing someday.
As for old video footage from when William was born, Charles and Diana were picked up in a rather dumpy economy car. C’mon, the RPOs were in better vehicles. What was going on with Charlie’s finances during the early years???? I’m guessing he was on a much tighter leash with regard to the Duchy and there was quite a recession going on in the UK at the time of William’s birth.
I will say that Charles has managed the Duchy very well. William will likely run it into the ground and start looking for ways to siphon off the capital if Charles lives too long.
It isn’t his to sell. It’s a lease hire car supplied by the sponsors (Audi) of some of his polo events. It will have reached it’s set mileage and the LH company are now selling it off whilst it still has some value.
