Jennifer Lawrence & Cooke Maroney are on a romantic getaway in Paris

Lovebirds Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney enjoy a romantic stroll through Paris

We learned back in June that Jennifer Lawrence had gotten a new boyfriend. His name is Cooke Maroney, which still sounds like a fake name to me, but whatever, I’m not dating him. Cooke is some kind of art-gallery director or something, which seems shady to me, but again, he’s not my boyfriend. I just feel like when you describe someone as “being involved in the art world,” it could literally mean anything from “he’s a man of means who spends his time collecting art” to “he’s a drug dealer.”

Anyway, J-Law and Cooke have been relatively low-key since they became a couple. Every few weeks, photos will pop up of them walking together in New York, but the photos are always suspiciously exclusive to one agency (almost like they were set up). These photos, in this post, are not exclusive to one agency. J-Law and Cooke are in Paris together, and they were seen on Thursday, walking along the Place Vendome. I can’t say I care for Jennifer’s slipdress, but it’s not like she’s wearing this to a premiere. I suspect that this is her “date” look, and that this trip to Paris was not a work gig but a simple romantic getaway. What do I know, though? She probably did have some work to do in Paris, you never know. She’s still the face of Dior, so maybe she was there to shoot some new print ads or something and she decided to bring her boyfriend.

Cooke is just sort of… a non-event, right? He’s not bad-looking, but he just seems incredibly average. He’s giving Adam Levine vibes, only taller.

I saw this headline and was just like, I WANT TO GO TO PARIS FOR A ROMANTIC GETAWAY! lol.

I like that dress but it doesn’t seem like it fits right. The straps and bodice are off center a bit. I wouldn’t wear it, but it works for JLaw in Paris in August.

    • maggi says:

I’m fighting the urge to reach through the screen and straighten the bodice. or give her some kindly old-aunty advice about choosing good fabric and good cut for her dandy little figure.

    • Hikaru says:

It’s because she isn’t wearing a bra. Whenever I have a spaghetti strap top on without a bra to keep my breasts in place they shift as I move and pull on the fabric twisting it around.

  2. Lala11_7 says:

    That…PURSE…though….

    (I want!)

  3. Darla says:

He’s better looking than her last, that Darren fella. That’s for sure. I don’t like that guy, he gives me creeper vibes. So, an upgrade.

    • delphi says:

I’m getting definite low-rent Affleck vibes from this dude. Like he’d smell like stale American Spirits and scotch & sodas.

Sorry…work is driving me nuts today, and the snark is heavy.

  4. MaryContrary says:

That bag does not go with the rest of the outfit. Hope they’re happier than they look in these pics.

  5. Crumbs says:

She has a great body, though I liked her when she was a bit curvier. He seems like a typical bro so definitely not my type. You know he’s bragging about hooking up with JLaw behind her back to all his friends.

    • OriginalLala says:

she seems to have lost some weight in these pics? the top of that dress looks like she got tangled up in it while she slept

  6. Sarah says:

    At least, he is age-appropriate.

  7. magnoliarose says:

Well, she is keeping a low profile and that is a good thing after her critical disaster that was Red Sparrow. The press tour was one cringy moment after the other. She is wise to just hang out with some basic guy for a while and just live. He’s not in the entertainment industry so that is a plus on his side even his job description is a little thin.
She started grating on my last nerve last year but if she came back with a good film in 2019, I’d support it.
I don’t support her choice in slipdresses though.

    • Brian says:

Red Sparrow wasn’t even a bad movie though. The Rock is basically shilling out turd after turd of a movie and making bank..and everyone loves him for it.

    • liriel says:

Yup, it wasn’t the best time to be Jlaw so she’s smart. I prefer her with more weight on, but it’s her choice. I think she gets back to Hollywood but for that to happen she needs a hit.

  8. Who ARE These People? says:

Would I want to go out with a man who didn’t tie his shoelaces?

    No, no I wouldn’t.

    • Esmom says:

Lol. I had to scroll back up and check it out. Clearly I didn’t notice and it doesn’t really bother me. He seems ok, just meh.

She looks great, except the wonky top part of her dress.

    • Brian says:

You must be just bogged down with offers to be this petty.

  9. Amelie says:

I like how she is not so subtly promoting Christian Dior with that handbag of hers! Girl’s not stupid, she knows she is going to get papped so might as well promote the label and make them happy while she’s at it.

As for her boyfriend I briefly looked him up and he really does work at an art gallery (Gladstone Gallery) so that part is not shady. But the art gallery world does have a lot of delicious gossip, it’s there if you know where to look.

    • Aren says:

I’m sure she’s not swinging the bag around the make the Dior label happy, she’s probably paid half a million dollars for each pap session.
That’s if instagrammers are really paid 1 million per advertising pic.

  10. Queenb says:

Nothing like being sour faced in Paris!

  11. OSTONE says:

No way I would be walking around in Paris in heels. Sneakers all the way when traveling!

    • Happy21 says:

And I came here to say that she has never struck me as the type to wear heels except when she has to. Huh, guess I was wrong about that.

    • Nikki says:

Parisian women never wear sneakers, and they consider American tourists’ shirt, shorts, and sneakers attire to be toddler wear. Yet alas, I’m with you Ostone; I had to wear sneakers to run around Paris from 8am – midnight to accompany my tireless husband! Since then I’ve searched for a better looking comfy, supportive shoe I could wear with a dress…

  12. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

My thoughts on photos, in this order:

    1) Cooke who?

    2) That is a really, really bad & gaudy bag. Choose the initials on the straps OR the dingle-letter on the flap. Both is too much.

    3) Walking the streets of Paris in a rumpled slip/negligee. And chunky wedges. Lovely(not).

  13. lobstah says:

I keep reading his name as Cookie, so it stays. lol

  14. Tiffany says:

Her entire outfit probably cost more that my entire year’s rent and yet, it looks so sloppy.

  15. Melania says:

I love her hairdo. So fresh, it’s perfect for summer

  16. Xi Tang says:

What does exclusive to one agency means? Sorry I know it might be a stupid question on a gossip site.

    • magnoliarose says:

It means only one pap agency has photos to sell to the press. Which translates to they called them up to do a pap stroll. It stops being a coincidence when it is the same agency over and over.

      • Melania says:

Maybe she has agreed some photos with the paps in order to not always be followed. A few weeks ago the paps had photographed her house in NY (she was on the roof with Emma Stone and other friends). I found this thing a little disturbing.
So I understand if she has consented to do some photos to be able to still have privacy. Probably I would do it too if I were famous.

  17. S says:

The chunky heels. The slip dress. … When the next gen is wearing your fave Friday night look from college, it’s official: I’m old.

  18. Slowsnow says:

Kaiser, I am slightly offended by your take on being an art gallery director as that was my job for many years and I still work in the art world sector – if that is a thing!
I know this is (celeb)itchy but I have been fighting for over 20 years for people to understand that curators, gallerists and artists work their **sses off and not all of us are filthy rich.
Cookie whatever here is thus a colleague and works in a really respected gallery that represents hardworking and talented artists. (A commercial gallery is a little bit like an agent for an actor if you will).
I am sure he is loaded as per his resumé – I am not that naïve. But your take on my professional field feels a bit too exciting for what it is but also a bit diminishing, if I may say so.
No hard feelings though. Just setting the record a bit straighter.

    • Kaiser says:

I hear you, and I know there are many legit people doing legit work in the art world and I would love to have that kind of job, because it seems exciting and crazy and high-stakes. But I also think “I work in art” is sort a catch-all trope for many shady people these days!

      • Slowsnow says:

@Kaiser For sure and I’ve met a few! I think I know what you mean but in his case, for someone who knows the field saying that comes off a bit naïve. He worked at Gagosian apparently and now is at Barbara Gladstone gallery.
At the end of the day, it’s the same thing as saying that it sounds shady when a person works “in the fashion world” at Elite Models. Although there are “model” types who sound shady AF.
I know I sound defensive, but I just did a studio visit with an artist from a small country where it is still seen as “feminine” to be an artist. Ask any parent even here in the UK what they think if their kid wants to work in the art field…
That’s why I am so militant. Sorry to rant though as I love coming to this website – the only gossip stuff I read ’cause it’s clever and fun.

      • Amelie says:

@Slowsnow: I totally get you! My sister and I both work in the non-profit art world. My sister’s company collaborated with a very famous artist for a citywide public art installation–won’t say who since that’ll identify her company straightaway but she does Communications and had to work long hours in preparation for that exhibition. It is far from glamorous. She works her tail off (she even got an internship at MOMA and had zero connections there) as do I and has gone from working in a tiny contemporary art gallery to working for a very recognized arts organization here in NYC and she did that on her own merit.

I work in fundraising and often have to research art dealers, galleries, art collectors, high society people etc. for work. A lot of these people do not come from money and work very hard to make it where they are today. Some do get jobs because of nepotism but you can’t just get any job at a gallery if you know nothing about art. Most people in the arts get paid almost nothing. As you said it’s not a field parents want their kids to go into. I took a HUGE pay cut when I took this job when I finally left my job at Amazon (I worked for a subsidiary) after several years. I didn’t do it because of the money obviously–I did it because I hated my job and was so unhappy (as in major depression) and I knew the arts was a field that was more in line with my interests. So to see “I work in art” is “shady” is frustrating to me because I feel like I need to defend my chosen field. As if my job at Amazon was considered more “legitimate” because Amazon isn’t shady (which is… not true to put it lightly. There was SO much shady stuff going down in my department but that’s another story).

      • BCity says:

….but I still choked on my Fresca at, “he’s a drug dealer” 😂. That type is all over the south of France – Antibes and Cannes in particular. This sounds terrible, but it’s such a trashy spectacle…it makes for great people-watching.

      • Slowsnow says:

Thanks @Amelie!! It’s such a bummer to see the art professions diminished all the time. And although it is true that salaries are far from good many times, it’s also true that, at least in NY and London and many other cities in the US and UK, it is easier to find art jobs than in other fields nowadays. People don’t know that and tell their kids that those aren’t jobs and push them into careers that have higher unemployment rates. Crazy.

  19. Veronica S. says:

I don’t mind her outfit. *shrugs* Just looks like a typical summer dress look, though I do think the black purse is a tad too heavy. I do like this hair on her, though.

I can deal with Jennifer. She mostly stays quiet outside of promotions, strategically throws the tabloids a few photos now and then, and otherwise lives her life. Can’t really fault her for it.

    • Lilibeth says:

I agree. Despite being one of the biggest stars in the world, she knows how to be low key and go under the radar. Kudos to her!
BTW I’m curious about her film Bad Blood about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. I just finished the book and OMG I couldn’t believe what I was reading. If done well it will be a great movie ( an it’s a great role for her).

  20. dlc says:

I dont mind the outfit, but I badly want to readjust it! her hair looks adorable.

  21. yiza says:

she looks awesome and I love her outfit even if it is sloppy. #90sforever

  22. Anna S says:

He looks like a combination of Adam Levine and Ben Affleck, especially in the second pic.

  23. Erin says:

Ew neckbeard. She looks great though.

  24. Lilag says:

All I can think is Cookie must be really really tall

  25. Anon says:

Being a director at a well known art gallery is in no way shady unless you’ve literally never been outside of Peoria.

  26. Clairej says:

Her figure is gorgeous. I love her hair. Nothing bad to say.

  27. jrose says:

they look miserable. she’s gorgeous but the photos look sad

  28. North of Boston says:

I guess I don’t understand shoes, and how they are supposed to fit, if the two of them are doing it right.

To my eyes, her shoes look too small…or are your toes supposed to hang over the edge of the shoe platform like that?

And his shoes look too big, and untied.
