Kylie Jenner ‘overlined’ her lips ‘like crazy’ and ‘people started getting obsessed’

Kylie Jenner covers the latest issue of Glamour UK. I have to admit, her lips do look slightly smaller, but I’m still not buying the idea that Kylie has completely stopped with lip fillers. I think she’s just doing less fillers in general, and… baby steps. Her lips are no longer cartoonish, so that’s something. In the interview, Kylie talks about the insecurities she had with her lips and how she began “overlined” them, which… I guess we’re still pretending that Kris Jenner didn’t allow her then underage daughter to get lip fillers and more? Some highlights from Glamour UK:

Negativity: “So many negative things come at me all the time. Of course, it does affect me, but you develop a thick skin. Nothing has lasted so long that I haven’t gotten through it, so whenever a new bad story or rumour emerges, I know it will pass, too. Everything in life is transient.

Insecurities: “I was super insecure about my lips. I really wanted the illusion of bigger lips, so I overlined mine like crazy, and then people started getting obsessed.”

Her company Kylie Cosmetics: “Most importantly, the business has given me a purpose I love to work, as Mom has installed such a great work ethic in all of us. If I didn’t have that, I don’t know what I would do. I get to create, it exercises my mind and I am always thinking of how to make the formulas or develop new products. I work hard for Stormi and being able to pass Kylie Cosmetics onto her – if she is interested – would be such a cool thing to do.”

I remember those early days of Kylie “overlining” her lips. Some of it was overlining, but around the age of 15-16, Kylie just started getting lip fillers and then she claimed FOR YEARS that you too could get comically oversized-looking lips if you just overlined and applied your lipstick in a certain way. It was ridiculous. That being said, I do think forming her Kylie Cosmetics was somewhat organic – she had no idea that it would take off the way it did, and that the little “lip kit” company she started would turn into a billion-dollar enterprise. As for Kris installing a “great work ethic” in her children… well, some of her children. Kim, Khloe and Kylie got Kris’s hustling genes. Rob, Kourtney and Kendall didn’t.

She is so deep. Lip lining is an intense and important topic in the world today .

  2. Tw says:

The world would be a better place if young girls grew up with more Duchess of Sussex and less Kardashian. If you need something to aspire to, how about a gorgeous actress/ philanthropist who marries a hot ginger prince?

    • Steph says:

Let’s just have scientists, athletes etc as role models

      • Adrien says:

I just want girls to become librarians, real estate agents or animators. People are always suggesting they should aspire to be scientists, doctors, popstars.

      • Tw says:

Yes, of course. I just meant with regards to little girls looking up to celebrities. Better she admire a philanthropist than someone who is promoting vanity and materialism.

  3. Nancy says:

She overlines her skinny lips like crazy and we are obsessed. Think you got that ass backwards child. Tad obsessive about your flipping lips. I never knew one girl in any school that cried about thin lips. Lies, lies. This woman/child was getting fillers when she “wasn’t” dating Tyga. They’re a lying bunch, those Kardashians…oops Jenner.

  4. Char says:

All that hustle, posting swaps on someone’s arm in Instagram. Or are supposed to believe that Kylie actually works, that she actually goes to an office and talk to people after her daily 2 hour bath (in California), her one hour make up session and what, two hours OOTD shooting every day? C’mon.

    • AnnaKist says:

No, no, Char. She doesn’t go to an office – she goes to a LAB. That’s so much more serious, because let’s not forget she’s always thinking about how to *make the formulas* 😂😂 and develop new products. 🙄

    • Erinn says:

I mean, no. She doesn’t do the kind of job that the vast vast majority of us do. But I also do think she’s genuinely interested in this. There’s a lot of trial and error that goes in to these kinds of products – and people who are FAR less famous than Kylie who are youtubers that end up with their “own” products with existing companies definitely have samples sent to them to test out and give feedback on. They tweak the colors, tweak the formulas until it’s meeting their expectations.

I believe that Kylie works at least as much with her cosmetics as someone like Jessica Simpson who has their own product lines. Jessica Alba has the Honest Company – which she is praised for. Do we think she’s in the lab every day, engineering the products, researching, creating the packaging, packing everything up, doing the promotion and shipping every single order? The Olsen twins also have a successful line of products. Drew Barrymore has a cosmetics line, but she doesn’t get the same kind of crap that Kylie gets for having one. I know that there’s PLENTY to complain about when it comes to this family, but I do think some of the favoritism and leniency that slides is unfair.

I mean, I’m the one coding out websites. I’m working on a computer all day, having to multi task like crazy. Our CEO isn’t here designing, coding, writing copy, selling domain names, etc… but I can’t say he doesn’t work.

    *instilling

    🤦🏼‍♀️

  6. Lana says:

Most importantly she did a nose job, which has turned her into a different person. Like, her former face was totally different…

  7. smcollins says:

So, in a nutshell, her big cross to bear in life was having thin lips. Where did she ever find the strength to persevere and survive? But, then again, she’s laughing all the way to the bank and magazine covers so…

  8. tifzlan says:

    She’s morphing into Kim…..

  9. BANANIE says:

Anther example of our obsession- someone managed to track down evidence that Kylie has in fact had milk and cereal before.

The one fact I actually liked about her!

  10. a reader says:

Come on she hasn’t knocked off the lip fillers. If she did she would have no upper lip.

She’s stopped filling her face up with fillers. It’s so obvious. And good, because at her age there is zero reason for fillers for cosmetic purposes.

    • Ashley Garcia says:

Actually someone posted on Twitter the other day photos from some doctor who is famous for noninvasive plastic surgery. Basically changing your face with fillers. To my eye the changes weren’t overly dramatic but the rest of the posters thought the work was good. It was like jaw change, nose change, eye change. I guess that’s the newest trend. Using fillers to change your face instead of going under the knife. Most of the girls in the photos were young. You don’t have the be old to use fillers anymore.

  11. skipper says:

I get what she’s saying because, in all honesty, people did become obsessed with her lips. I mean, look at her makeup line. It is super successful. However, I don’t think the viewers of Celebitchy were her target audience. It was definitely aimed towards teenagers/early 20’s. Not the demographic of the readers on this site.

  12. clairej says:

It is scary how much she has obviously had a overhaul to look like a younger Kim – but a younger Kim with her current face. That was definitely the surgeon’s brief – Kim 2.0. She looked absolutely nothing like her before.

  13. Kukuviza says:

Almost every celebrity is recognizable if you look at pictures taken when they were children or young adult. Even after many years, makeup and eventually surgical procedures. Kylie looks like a completely different person, bares no resemblance with her former self. And she was pretty indeed. This reminds me the old Twilight Zone episode “Number12 looks just like you”
