Amber Heard fulfilled her obligations, wore Elie Saab to the ‘London Fields’ premiere

'London Fields' LA Premiere - Arrivals

Back when Amber Heard was still married to Johnny Depp, he basically pulled some strings with his friends and got her a job on the film London Fields. The film was a disaster from the start, and no one wanted it. Depp has a role in it too, and from what I remember, that was part of the deal – “if you hire Amber, I’ll take a role” – and I don’t think any of it was done for the paycheck. In any case, London Fields has sat on a shelf for years. Lawsuits were tossed back and forth, and the lawsuits were mostly about how producers used CGI to make Amber look naked when she really filmed the scenes with her clothes on. It was stupidly complicated, especially considering – as I said – no one asked for this dumb movie.

Well, I guess Amber and the producers made some kind of peace, because the film is being released today, and last night was the LA premiere. Amber was there. She wore a boring Elie Saab gown and walked the red carpet and made sure she was photographed extensively. There’s an aura of “this is my contractual obligation” around her. And honestly, the reviews are terrible. While I like Amber and wish her the best, she’s still a terrible actress, it seems. Meanwhile, Amber said words to the Associated Press about how she’s moved on:

“I am very happy that I have moved on with my life and keep moving on with my life. I just keep wanting to do with my life that which makes it better for other people and myself. And doing the right thing and moving forward and dedicating yourself to justice, truth, to doing what’s right and helping others when you can – that’s everything to me. That’s all I’m interested in. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to use what experience I’ve lived and endured, suffered, survived through. It’s amazing to be able to use one’s experiences in life to help others, to help push the conversation forward, to change the conversation.”

I hope she phases her life over to doing more charitable and advocacy work too, because I believe that she finds that work fulfilling, and she has a personal connection to it. Plus, it will keep her from acting, which… yay.

“…made some kind of peace”/fulfilled the terms of a legal settlement. Potato/Patato. 😏

This was a phenomenal mess. I mean every actor and/or director has a project that goes wrong or turns out poorly. You grin and grit your teeth and be a professional. But the behind the scenes of this would be a better movie than the actual movie.

It will be interesting to see how Aquaman does. Worse actresses than her have had careers. Well…at least until they’re 40. 🙄

Same i fell like amber “carrer” will be over abou the time she turns 40 and she will end up in celebrity big brother or something

      • Chaine says:

that’s fun to think about. Although I think they would only invite her on that kind of reality show if she agrees to dole out a certain number of juicy tidbits about Johnny Depp during the course of it.

London Fields was a great novel, too bad it didn’t translate.

I just chopped my hair for donation. I apparently now have Ambers cut.

A wavey Vidal lob. I style the same (deep side part, natural waves) but it feels like such a mom cut. Esp as a new mom, everyone keeps commenting on my mom cut. Ughhh. Sorry OT.

    • Chanteloup says:

@Eliza I’m sure you look glowing and beautiful and your hair cut commenters should stfu. Moms rule and run the world. Work it like a boss! 🙂

I read the synopsis of the movie and thought – hmm, I might like this, I’ll read the book first and then maybe see the film. Watched the trailer and, wow it looks horrible. I agree that Amber is a terrible actress and maybe she should try something else.

I’ve never warmed to her. I’ve read that she’s very self-centered and just not great to be around. It’s only because of Depp that she got more of a break, but she doesn’t have what it takes to be really successful as an actress. She has looks and that’s about it. Not rooting for her, sorry…..

      • Hope says:

She could be the nicest person in the world, she’s still a bad actress. She has no expression in her face/eyes when she’s performing. There’s no real emotion. I find her so…bland as an actress. It’s like she doesn’t even care about the roll, she’s just up there because “I want to be an actress.”

  5. whatWHAT? says:

she looks a little different in the face. When I saw the tilted-head pic on the Celebitchy home page I thought it was Miley Cyrus for a quick second.

  6. Chaine says:

They should have made the movie a quarter-century ago while the book was still one of the trendy “in” things to have read if you wanted to seem like one of the literati. It could have been an early Guy Richie film… I tried to re-read the book a few years back and I couldn’t get into it, it just seemed so quaint and tedious.

Amber Heard is beautiful. That’s all I got. 😀
