Taylor Swift has been a ghost during the Australian leg of her Reputation tour

A little more than two years ago, Taylor Swift boarded a flight to Australia with her then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston. Hiddleston had work to do – he was filming Thor: Ragnarok, and he apparently wanted Taylor close-by. She wasn’t on tour or recording anything, so she had some free time and she stayed for a few weeks, if memory serves. Soon after though, everything fell apart and Tiddles Was Broken. Well, for the past few weeks, Taylor has been back in Australia for the first time since Tiddles. She’s there as part of her Reputation Tour. Only no one knows where she is when she’s not on stage. There have been no paparazzi photos, and she’s hasn’t done any press in Oz. It’s unusual. So what’s going on?

Taylor Swift is currently in the middle of a three week tour of Australia. But during the considerable amount of downtime between her generously spaced out four Reputation stadium shows, there have been no sightings of singer… anywhere. While most touring pop stars will typically make appearances on the likes of The Project, the Today show and Kyle & Jackie O, the 28-year-old has shunned the media circuit.

Despite each of her shows failing to sell out, Taylor has made no last bid attempt to shift final tickets by scheduling in any promotional pit stops so far. But the reason is very simple: she just does not want to, or need to. The silence surrounding the fiercely private star’s stay is not uncommon, and mirrors the strategy she employed upon the release of Reputation, the album she is touring. There was no press tour, no jumping from talk show to talk show and certainly no revealing of scandalous details of her private life to build hype through headlines.

So how is Taylor, who is currently in the midst of her approximate 18-day stay in Australia, staying hidden? It is believed she is currently residing in an exclusive rental somewhere in Victoria, but given the secrecy surrounding the star, this is yet to be confirmed. To then make her way to each of the shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, it is assumed she is making the small trips by private jet.

I hate-respect the way Taylor Swift controls the narrative around herself, at least as much as she can. She’s always done that, but if anything, she’s gotten more controlling in the past few years, post-Receipts. That was the lesson she learned, apparently – that she needs to have as much control as possible. I enjoy the little dig about “Despite each of her shows failing to sell out” too – Taylor is still raking in a huge amount of money, and she’s like “why would I put myself out there just to sell a few more tickets?”

One bad piece of news for Tay-Tay: she endorsed Phil Bresden for Congress, the Democrat who is running against incumbent Marsha Blackburn. Well, Blackburn is now leading in several polls. Ouch. Which is probably why she took to Instagram AGAIN to get political:

Her strategy with this album was to not give any interviews, it seems. Which is odd from a promotional perspective, but I think she wanted to REALLY control the narrative this time by not allowing any writers or broadcasts to take something she says out of context or ask her questions about past missteps. I think silence has been golden for her, honestly — she let all the nonsense that went on in 2016 fade from our memories and gave herself a quiet revamp. It was needed.

Exactly you are so on point

Yes she is a master at this game. I am sure she is already working on her next album that is why she cant be bothered promoting this one anymore. I hope it will be huge as this one is not her greatest. Perhaps a greatest hits album?

I think she just realised she didn’t have a great album on her hands. Reputation’s decent-ish, but it’s a big step down from 1989 and Red. She did what a lot of artists do when they realise their new release is far from their best work, she set it up as an album meant for the fans (which means not an album for the critics). The fans happily buy it, but without in your face promo the lacklustre era fades from everyone else’s memory pretty quickly.

Her eyes are definitely not that blue naturally, so she’s either wearing contacts, using filters, or photoshopping. And I still think she’s doing a combo of lip-fillers+over-lining+heaving contouring.

They are. Shes has very very blue eyes. I used to think they were a little weird because they were such a dark blue. But thats her natural color.

I think she’s had a chin implant. noticed it at that last award show when she wore that silver disco ball dress that the shape of her face is different and her lips are also much fuller.

Lighting and blue eyes can be very weird also. Sometimes mine just look black, sometimes grey, green, aqua-ish, light blue, etc. It’s odd lol

She’s totally making a bid to transition back to country pop. Maybe a more ‘adult’ version of her Red days.

  3. Mo’ Comments Mo’ Problems says:

    She’s emulating Beyoncé

  4. Dara says:

She lucked out having Harry and Meghan there at the same time. Every tabloid reporter or paparazzi worthy of the same were occupied elsewhere. I hope she took advantage of it and explored all the awesome places in Australia.

    Is that Bryce Dallas-Howard?
