Kim Kardashian & Kanye West took a 660-seat private 747 jet to travel overseas

Kim Kardashian shows off her curves in grey at the Street Dreams event

Kim Kardashian’s pants in these photos… my goodness. How unflattering. Kim had been sticking close to home for the past month, but she decided to travel with Kanye West this week for his work. This is part of the Kimye branding – Kim is Kanye’s “muse,” and she often travels with him to help him promote his various endeavors overseas. The problem is that Kim continues to document her life of conspicuous consumption and excess constantly. So she posted some Instagram-Stories which have raised some backlash. It turns out, Kim and Kanye traveled on a private 747 a few days ago. There were maybe a dozen people (probably less) on the private plane. A 747 can literally hold up to 660 people.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West boarded a private 747 jet for a recent long-haul flight, sparking outrage over the extravagant method of travel. Kardashian, 38, showed off the spacious — and nearly empty — interior of the commercial-size airliner in a series of videos posted to her Instagram Stories.

“No big deal, just taking a private 747,” Kardashian says, filming West, 41, walking up to the “double decker” plane. “This is how he does it now. Only 747s, private. I’ve never even heard of this, but whatever.” Travel & Leisure notes the plane could hold up to 660 passengers, and points out that Air Force One is also a Boeing 747.

On board, Kardashian showed off the customized interior, which featured lounge areas, bedrooms and spacious cabins full of empty seats. The jet also contains plenty of work space, which the mother of three calls the “Yeezy floating office.” In another video clip, she shouts out “Team Adidas,” Yeezy’s parent company.

“So this is what a private 747 is like, you guys. I’ve never been on one before. Oh my god, there’s bedrooms everywhere. No big deal. This is like endless,” she says, noting it’s “pretty insane.”

[From People]

I’m honestly not a class warrior, and in some circumstances, I actually understand why certain rich people want to own private planes and such. But this is so wasteful, it actually makes me long for the bloody class war. These videos are insane – I’m assuming that Adidas arranged this for Kanye and Kim, and what were they thinking? I would be so ashamed if I was with a small group of people and a corporation “gave” us this huge plane to use. Ugh.

Thinking back to the days after the robbery, when Kim embraced minimalism for a few seconds.

    • me says:

Thinking back to when she said she wanted to live a more “private life”. Thinking back even further to when she said she didn’t want to be seen as a “sex symbol” anymore so wouldn’t be doing any more nude shoots. We need to remember this woman lies…a lot.

Also why brag about this on social media? It’s not like Kanye and Kim paid for the plane. Dumbass Adidas did…well actually all us suckers that buy Adidas paid for that plane lol.

      • Melody calder says:

Was it Kanye asking for an investment from Mark Zuckerberg a while back? She needs to have a stronger opinion than “whatever” if he spending his money or she’s going to be the one financing his lifestyle

    • potato says:

She might be be lying. She might just have zero memory of what she does ever. Kind of like dementia, but as a side effect of being vapid.

  2. Sam the Pink says:

It’s worth calling out for no other reason than how wasteful it is. I know that this is a drop in the bucket in terms of emissions and impacting climate change, but jeez! How wasteful.

Between this, firing private firefighters, and various other missteps, these two could cause one to convert to Marxism.

    • hezzer19 says:

You said just what I was thinking.

    • Arpeggi says:

It’s so wasteful! And not even a week after the US govt released its study on climate change!! There should be laws put in place to prevent such a thing, money shouldn’t buy everything when our actions are killing the planet

    • Char says:

They need a plane this big to fit their egos! C’mon!

    • Kitten says:

So wasteful. On one hand, it’s their money and their right, flying SUCKS, and who wouldn’t want to have a great, comfortable flying experience?
On the other hand, the world is shit right now, so many people are suffering, and we really don’t need to be reminded about rich people’s privileged insularity. Kim seems to enjoy showing us that her wealth and fame is an effective protective barrier to every awful thing that average people have to deal with, like commercial flights.

On this topic, after sleeping on an old, full-sized mattress that I inherited 12 years ago or so, we recently replaced it with a new king sized mattress and bed. It feels so luxurious and I’ve been sleeping so much better. When I woke up this morning I was laying there thinking how cozy and comfortable my new bed is. Then, my next immediate thought was about the children and their parents on the border sleeping in cold detention centers, homeless people and homeless animals when it’s freezing cold outside…just the endless suffering.
I’m rambling but I guess my point is that I hope this family at least has a lot of gratitude because privilege, wealth, fame….none of it matters if you can’t appreciate it. Too many people have far less.

      • Sam the Pink says:

Well, I think there are degrees. Your new mattress isn’t taking away from any of those people. It’s not that zero sum. I mean, my family makes sure to do our charitable donations during the holiday season, but do I feel slightly guilty about the large meal I prepared for us this past week, when there are people and animals going without? Well, I like to think food and mattresses are not zero sum – we can have while still trying to help those who don’t. But it is also nice to remind ourselves of the things we do have, that others are going without.

This situation especially bugs me because we are less than a week removed from a report that says that climate change is already here, and damaging our country, and the President dismisses it with a wave of his hand. It is clear that our government (at least for the next 2 years) will not act to mitigate this, so it will fall to us, as citizens. To vote with our dollars, and actions. The optics of a single wealth family flying on a plane that could normally transport almost 700 people is, right now, infuriating.

      • KidV says:

“On one hand, it’s their money and their right, flying SUCKS, and who wouldn’t want to have a great, comfortable flying experience?”

That’s what I was thinking. If I had that kind of money I couldn’t guarantee I wouldn’t do the same thing occasionally. I’m a liberal doing what I can to save the Earth, but I really hate airports and being crammed into planes with no leg room. LOL

      • another someone says:

“On one hand, it’s their money and their right, flying SUCKS, and who wouldn’t want to have a great, comfortable flying experience?” – so trumpian.

just because persons can afford to, they can do whatever they want. first world citizens always think like this. always “their right” without thought to consequences. especially with regard to climate change – first world countries have the highest emissions and the poor countries are the most vulnerable to climate change. also refer to the post of Mel from France. I say NO – people do not have the right to spend their own money to the detriment of others. Enough of this selfishness.

      • Arpeggi says:

Flying sucks in eco class, but in 1st class it doesn’t seem so bad, there’s plenty of leg room and the seat turns into a small bed and all… It seems sweet! There’s a massive difference between no leg room and the stupid 45cm or so bathrooms some companies are pushing to fit extra seats and having so much empty space and more bathrooms than passengers, you won’t really get to enjoy it. It’s like being 2 people living in an 8 bedroom house: an absolute waste.

      • HeyThere! says:

Kitten, I think about stuff like that also. Every time I bundle up in my warm coat, hat, scarves, and gloves I’m immediately hit with ‘a lot of people in my area don’t have this to keep them warm’. Ugh. I want to start doing something about my thought and I might take up making scarves?! I don’t know how but I would love to make a bunch and donate to local women’s shelters and local grade schools. The older I get the more aware of stuff like that.

      • KidV says:

HeyThere! – There’s an organization called One Warm Coat that takes new and gently used coats, I wonder also if they’d take scarves and hats if you made them. They get coats to people who need them https://www.onewarmcoat.org

    • Killjoy says:

Yeah, for a socialist, I’m actually pretty relaxed about rich people’s spending (I’d rather they spend than just sack it away, or lobby for corporate welfare), but ffs….this was so environmentally wasteful! I dm’ed on her insta-story, so I’m sure she’ll get her shit together ASAP. :-/

    • Roux says:

This really is gross and what is worse is that they are just the tip of the iceberg. There are plenty of super rich people who think nothing of hiring a private jet for the most mundane of things or spending stupid amounts of money to boost their ego. I know London probably isn’t alone in this but house prices are super high, with billionaires buying property that nobody even lives in and meanwhile homelessness is all around you. Marxism is right – the more you’re aware of the divide, the more sickening it becomes.

  3. Beth says:

She looks silly dressed in tighter than a condom clothes, especially in such ugly colors. Taking a private plane like this is a total waste of money and fuel

  4. realitycheck says:

This is beyond wasteful. Considering their Masion was almost burnt to the ground, would they consider the impact of this on the environment? I was so angry reading this, the rich people have no accountability for their actions

    • BrutalEthyl says:

And especially when you consider that the report on global warming predicts more and worse wildfires due to on environmental changes, you’d think it would penetrate that vacant skull of hers that crap like flying a 747 for 2 people contributed to the fire that almost burned down her home. Their kids don’t stand a chance.

  5. EMc says:

Wow. Just, wow.. I didnt even know you could travel this luxuriously. Seems wasteful, but when money holds no value to you I suppose it doesnt matter.

    • Arpeggi says:

It’s not wasting money that’s the issue, it’s wasting ressources and polluting like crazy when a Skype meeting would have probably done the job in the 1st place

      • EMc says:

Agreed. They dont care about either issue. Can you even imagine being so oblivious? To live such a lifestyle that you can just ignore how wrong it is.. its mind boggling.

    • cherry says:

Of course it matters. This is not just about money, it’s about massive environmental impact! How can people be so oblivious of their carbon footprint?

    • EMc says:

Calm down, I didnt say that it didnt matter to me. I meant that it didnt matter to them. Have another cup of coffee 🙂

  6. Chaine says:

Doesn’t this vastly expand their carbon footprint versus using a smaller plane more suitable to the size of their party? It’s appalling! Or maybe Kanye buys into a certain president’s belief that Climate change is a hoax.

  7. Chrissy says:

They seem like over spenders. Hopefully the money train keeps pulling up to their front door or they will not know what to do with themselves .

    • Chaine says:

I’m sure we will eventually see them in dire financial straits like other big spenders (Nicolas Cage or Johnny Depp) And then of course they’ll blame their financial managers for everything and sue them.

      • Kebbie says:

I think Kris Jenner is too smart for that, unfortunately. She’s a schemer. I think she works a lot of stuff out so that the family is not paying for much. Freebies in exchange for social media plugs.

Kanye seems the head-in-the-clouds type to let his finances get away from him though.

  8. cherry says:

Okay, so flying a Boeing 747 over long distance, that will release over a 100 tonnes of CO2- just for the two of them, and their trainer apparently? She must be doing this to get attention, right? Who in their right mind would be so stupid as to post an enthusiastic instagram post about you single-handedly blowing that much pollution into the air?

  9. Chingona says:

This why I find it so funny when Celebs are going on about how we regular people need to do more about the environment or help with charities, then they turn around and are so wasteful.

    • Kebbie says:

Leo is hands down the worst offender. He doesn’t seem to make any attempt to travel in an environmentally sound way. He tries to frame it like he’s just hitching rides with friends on their private jets and yachts. A true man of principle 🙄

      • Sam the Pink says:

Leo is so bold with it. He actually flew into an environmental conference in a private jet. Really? I mean, I understand that, at times, security may be a concern, but the optics of it – arriving at a conference designed to discuss ways t mitigate climate damage on a private plane. And of course, climate change opponents have an absolute field day with it. He does so much damage to the cause without even realizing it.

      • Chingona says:

Megayachts can waste up to 260,000 gallons just to fill up. I have seen multiple yacht owners drop over $400,000. to fill up.

    • me says:

Yup. What I hate the most are telethons where celebs tell us to donate as much as we can when they don’t donate any money at all. Their “donation” is their time…the time they take to tell us “normal” folks to open our wallets.

  10. Kebbie says:

It’s incredibly wasteful, but she’s obviously not traveling like that all the time as evidenced by her shock and awe throughout the videos. She’s just not the kind of person to see it as needlessly wasteful, just luxe and exclusive. They’re a very vapid couple, that’s for sure.

If I could travel on a more reasonable private jet though, I totally would. No more long security lines, picking up colds, cramming into narrow little aisles, and sharing bathrooms with strangers.

On a different note, I don’t believe she ever actually works out.

    • cherry says:

That she’s ‘obviously not traveling like that all the time’ doesn’t make it okay. It’s her money, but it’s our planet, too. Every human being should be conscious of her/his environmental footprint. I worry a lot about my taking the car too often when I could theoretically take the bus, which is more environmentally friendly but takes for ever. Looking at this vapid reality starlet blowing tonnes of CO2 into the air just for the heck of it makes me feel… sick.

  11. bros says:

horrible form on the lunges. that is all.

  12. amp122076 says:

Ok small note in her defense.
I worked for a very wealthy individual who only flew privately.

Sometimes certain planes were only available out of certain cities at certain times on certain days so it COULD be they were booking a long haul flight and that was the only aircraft available.

Simply, the booking company could have made this decision, not K/K, and they took advantage of it to make it seem as if they selected that ridiculous option.

    I KNOW I KNOW….

    • another someone says:

“Simply, the booking company could have made this decision, not K/K, and they took advantage of it . . . ” thats it right there. you just blew the defense – if your theory is correct, the onus is still on them – they made the choice to take advantage of it. Their choice – their fault. There are smaller private crafts that can be hired. it is highly doubtful that they ran out of private planes to rent. Experienced pilots would tell you operating costs of 747s are the highest of all aircraft, many airports can’t accommodate it, and it’s an aged aircraft that many airlines are retiring. It would make more sense to go with the 737 Max or 787-9 as these are much more fuel efficient.

    • me says:

Adidas paid for the flight and are the ones who probably picked out the plane. The Kardashians are always getting things for free. I can bet you most of the time they are seen on private jets, they aren’t the ones paying for it!

  13. HeyThere! says:

I would be mortified if I was on this massive thing with only a hand full of people! I do not understand why she is bragging about this? Private small jet, sure, but not this.

    • Pandy says:

I’d be cringing as well. And it’s not that I wouldn’t want that luxury – who wouldn’t really? But to video it and flaunt it is … well, tasteless and vulgar. Like those pants! Or sausage casings, whatever they are.

  14. Mel says:

In France people are protesting at the moment yet another tax that is the « carbon tax ». It was the proverbial straw in Macron’s fiscal policy.
The money will BARELY go to transitioning out of fossil fuels. It’s not that we don’t care about the planet. It’s that, once again, the lower and middle class will have to pay for the wealthy who will be free to pollute. I disagree with the commenter that said it’s a drop in the bucket. A freaking 747 is NOT nothing in terms of carbon footprints. There are NO lines when you fly first class or even business. You don’t even have to mingle with the plebeians! I’m sick of these people basking in their privilege while the rest of us have to pick up the pieces (and the tab!)

  15. Cee says:

I don’t care about the money spent on this, I care about the use of finite, precious resources used up by this massive aircraft for a group of no more than 6 people who could have flown commercial in first class or in a smaller aircraft.

    Idiots.

  16. tw says:

So much wrong with this. Yes, she’s repulsive. Her voice, her words, her values, her weird surgically modified hips to leg ratio. But what’s worse is that Kanye is hemorrhaging money and will most likely end up bankrupt. Did no one learn the MC Hammer gold toilet lesson?

  17. NeoCleo says:

She needs to lay off the fillers, her mouth is starting to look like a hemorrhoid.

  18. TyrantDestroyed says:

I was observing a graphic with some recommendations about diminishing our footprint by basically not owning a car, limit traveling, being vegetarian and having zero children which I think can contribute to ease the climate change. My problem is when the working class make all these efforts while the 1% keeps consuming and reproducing like if there’s not tomorrow.

  19. Lua says:

We’re on track as a world united (except US) to fall short of our 2 degree climate change goal and this b is flying that plane?! I hope it crashes

  20. Scylla74 says:

This is why I did not like “crazy rich asiens” the book. It was not envy. I was appalled by the waste and hedonism, the pure consumerism from the ultra rich. I never watched a single episode of all this reality shows with people like this because I …. just can’t with this.

    • OriginalLala says:

I’m with you – its disgusting, and I dont understand how people with so much money and privilege only use their money to buy crap to show off their wealth.

  21. We Will Never Forget says:

I do not drive a car, recycle everything I can, buy second-hand clothing, rarely travel and I am not having children…these are my contributions to our planet. I love our planet and it enrages me when losers like these rich idiots do whatever they want, without any regard for the environmental consequences.

  22. Toria says:

    Gross.

  23. Aubrey says:

She flies for free if she promotes it.

  24. Gina says:

What’s with her right arm ? (screen left)

  25. Jessca says:

I don’t really expect her to have any sense of how out of touch she and her family are. I just saw that Kylie admits getting a separate hotel room for her clothing and shoes and accessories and baby. Yes. Stormy sleeps in her makeshift wardrobe. Ugh.

  26. Yes Doubtful says:

They are rich and narcissistic, why would anyone be surprised they would do this? They also hired people to save their house from the fires. They don’t care.
