Ivanka Trump: There’s ‘no equivalency’ between my emails & Hillary Clinton’s emails

President Trump holds a cabinet meeting

Ivanka Trump has been using her personal email account to conduct government business. She used her private email when she first came into the White House as her father’s senior advisor, and she continued to use the private email account for, like, a year and a half. She might even still be using it for government business. The first stories of Ivanka’s private email came out last year, but a few weeks ago, the Washington Post did a big story about just how much Ivanka had used/is using her private email for government business. Sources described “hundreds of emails” sent from the personal account to “White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants,” all of which are violations of federal law. Her excuse was that she wasn’t “familiar” with the law, because ignorance of the law explains everything, especially with her father screaming “BUT HER EMAILS” as an unhinged chant. Well, Ivanka sat down for an interview with Deb Roberts at ABC, and here’s what happened:

ROBERTS: It has come to light that early in the administration you used your private email for White House business. Your father had taken Hillary Clinton to task for this so how did you wind up in a similar situation?
TRUMP:
Well, there really is no equivalency. All of my emails that relate to any form of government work which was mainly scheduling and logistics and managing the fact that I have a home life and a work life are all part of the public record. They’re all stored on the White House system so everything has been preserved. Everything has been archived. There just is no equivalency between the two.

ROBERTS: People see it as the same.
TRUMP:
People who want to see it as the same see it as the same. But the fact is that we all have private emails and personal emails to coordinate with her family. We all receive content to those emails and there’s no prohibition from using private email as long as it’s archived and as long as there’s nothing in it that’s classified.

ROBERTS: But your father hammered Hillary Clinton on this, said that it was criminal, she should be locked up.
TRUMP:
In my case all of my emails are on the White House server. There’s no intent to circumvent and there were mass deletions after a subpoena was issued. My emails have not been deleted, nor was there anything of substance, nothing confidential that was within them. So, there’s no connection between the two things.

[From CNN]

Lord knows I’m never going to be keen for Madame Complicit, but I understand the nuanced argument she’s making. Of course I still think she’s full of sh-t and of course she broke federal law, and of course we should all scream BUT HER EMAILS and LOCK HER UP at Ivanka constantly. I’m just saying that Ivanka isn’t completely and totally wrong. She’s wrong about there being “no equivalency” though – while Ivanka’s situation isn’t identical to Hillary’s, they are equivalent. I wouldn’t expect Ivanka to understand that though, because she doesn’t understand words.

Here’s Ivanka talking about the Mueller investigation. Her complicit baby-whisper is especially froggy here.

And here’s Ivanka getting caught up in a lie about “lethal force” against women and children.

@Mela you just won the internet today.

    • jan90067 says:

      👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 🏆.

On another note: I just want to smack the smug off her face. I LOATHE her and her entire crime cabal of a family.

  2. minx says:

    Loathe this soulless plastic creature.
She’s also one of those people who think using big words make her sound smart. She’s wrong.

    • Esmom says:

Yes and yes. I rarely listen to her speak but for some reason today I did and I immediately remembered why I avoid it. I understand Lightpurple’s loathing a bit better, too.

Although when she said there’s “nothing of substance,” I did kinda nod along. Very self-aware, lol.

    • Steff says:

She’s conditioned to scam people so I’m not surprised by her smooth and emotionless delivery.

  3. Sam the Pink says:

I agree – I understand the argument she is making – that her emails are still a part of the government record because no private server was used. I understand.

But at the same time, it just feels like turnabout is fair play here. Her father absolutely savaged Hillary for this. And before anyone asks, I did feel like Hillary handled the situation poorly and could have done far better at addressing it. But that’s history, and this is not. You don’t get to argue that one woman’s use of private email is a crime worthy of jail and then excuse it in another case. They made this bed, and now they are trying not to lay in it.

    • Lightpurple says:

Except her emails only became part of the public record when it was discovered she was doing this in 2017 and her lawyer than forwarded them into the record. We have no idea what was deleted or not forwarded. The House requested copies of the emails over a year ago and the request was completely ignored. Apparently, despite her claims, a private server in the Trump Tower was used and a Go Daddy account.

Of more interest to me is whether she used her government email, phone, computer, server to conduct personal or Trump corporation business.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, she’s so sanctimonious and smug as she says that but it’s just more bulls*^t. Par for the course, sigh.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

A Go Daddy account, eh? Did she choose it for the name? ; )

      • EbonyS says:

        No.

-Clinton’s team requested for the emails to be deleted months before the subpoena came.

-Clinton’s staff received a subpoena for Benghazi-related emails March 4. An employee managing her server deleted 33,000 of Clinton’s emails three weeks later.

-The FBI found no evidence that the emails were deleted deliberately to avoid the subpoena or other requests.

-FBI Director James Comey said in a July 2016 statement that the FBI investigation “found no evidence that any of the additional work-related emails were intentionally deleted in an effort to conceal them.”

-Comey added in a later congressional hearing that the FBI learned no one on Clinton’s staff specifically asked the employee to delete the emails following the New York Times story and subpoena. Rather, the employee made that decision on his own.

The assertion that Clinton deleted emails relevant to the subpoena in order to avoid scrutiny, is unprovable if not flat wrong.

The emails that were deleted were personal emails that had nothing to do with government business or her job as SoS.

And to play Devil’s advocate, let’s pretend that she deleted 33,000 emails filed with government secrets. George Bush? Roughly 22 million White House e-mails exchanged via private servers during the G.W. Bush administration were deleted instead of being archived in accordance with the Presidential Records Act. We’re talking everything from the 9/11 response to Katrina. Completely gone. Correspondence from hundreds of government employees. https://www.newsweek.com/2016/09/23/george-w-bush-white-house-lost-22-million-emails-497373.html

Two “wrongs” don’t make a right, but can we please stop pretending this is about poor email practices and just call it what it is? Right-wing hysteria and sexism.

      • holly hobby says:

Her atty cherry picked what could be archived. That’s the difference. Prior to that all the emails were housed at Rump Tower.

  4. Erinn says:

The article I read said “she turned over her emails months ago so they could be archived and preserved” – if they were on the white house servers I don’t see how she would have to turn anything over. I’d love to know what domain the emails are attached to. It’s something short based on the way the photos have been blacked out. Could it be something as dumb as gmail or yahoo? I mean – yahoo got compromised really bad a while back – so regardless of whether emails have been handed over or not – she’s opening up herself to the possibility of security being breached.

    • Q T Hush says:

      To Erinn,
How dare you use logic and common sense to explain why Nagini’s answers are wrong. Clearly this crime family understands neither of these concepts.

      • Erinn says:

I really should know better hahaha.

      • Lilly says:

LOL, thanks @Q T Hush and @Erinn. Such an arrogant family trait, just like her dad who uses an unsecured cell phone. So it’s as though they’re saying Hillary had actual important, grown-up working items in her e-mails, but they don’t!?!

    • Muffy says:

It was on a private family server named ijkushnerfamily (or similar). So, exactly the same setup as the Clintons had.

    • Lightpurple says:

She had stuff on Go Daddy. Her lawyer forwarded the stuff to her government account only after the House oversight committee asked for the emails in 2017. They ignored the committee’s request, Goodlatte and Gowdy let her get away with it, and she continued to do it.

      • Erinn says:

Haha, I actually just did a quick search to see what server it was and found the GoDaddy registrar for the ijkfamily domain. Fun fact – just before the news about Hillary’s came out a few years ago, I got an email from the company I work for saying one of our companies was used for Hillary’s email and not to give any statements to the press and forward anyone asking about it to the company’s PR person. GoDaddy is one of our main competitors so I hope they’re getting some annoyance from Ivanka’s email.

    • Pandy says:

Right … because she’s a liar who has probably done her OWN massive deletions prior to “turning them over”. LOVE how SHE HAS A FAMILY SHE NEEDS TO COORDINATE!! Cos Hilary lived in a vacuum of public service only? Nice fresh highlights, Complicit Barbie.

  5. Beth says:

Spoiled hypocritical brat. It is what it is, Princess Ivanka, and if it’s wrong for Hillary, it’s wrong for you. If Ivanka has nothing bad to hide, she should want an investigation to prove it

  6. Q T Hush says:

Yikes!!!!! Ivanka is so scared she’s going to slip up and say something to enrage her daddy dearest. It’s apparent that the family is fluent in word salad. Do they think we are all as stupid as the deplorables???!!!!

  7. maggi says:

Canadian here, wondering when Ivanka was voted into office. It is beyond comprehension that she has any form of access to White House business. Am I missing something?

    • cherry says:

IKR. I’m from Europe and it’s staggering to me, too. I was just reading this article and all I could think was: this is all so Roman empire. Since when is ‘first daughter’ even a thing? What authority does this weird-looking creature speak from?

      • maggi says:

Nepotism normalized and blatant ignorance rewarded. we are watching the empire fall again and I brace, waiting for the ripples

      • jan90067 says:

Blatantly ignoring nepotism laws, with full backing of a RepubliTHUG congress and senate. While I wish the incoming Ds will challenge this, they have bigger fish to fry…IF they *ever* get their act together and stop this infighting about Speaker. Seriously, they only seem to get in their own way, over and over.

    • Beth says:

She wasn’t voted for, her daddy gave her the job. She “works” in the West Wing of the WH as a special advisor to the POTUS . This is not what Ivanka should be doing, because she’s a clothing company owner, and knows nothing about the job in the WH she now has, but she has plenty of access to WH info

    • boredblond says:

She and her unqualified hubby supposedly have ‘jobs’ there, but no one is sure what they actually are..or are doing. The press has avoided talking about them generally.I’m not sure if it’s because they have no real functions and are there to soothe daddy or because this WH is the least transparent in recent history and nobody knows (but should). It has always been considered wrong to use relatives in the WH..i may be the only one here old enough to remember JFK and the hell he was given for appointing his brother Robert..the current regime gets a pass on so much, it just gets overwhelming.

      • Jerusha says:

I was there then, and they caught flak when Edward ran for Senate after barely turning thirty. So quaint nowadays.

    • Dr Mrs The Monarch says:

Canada has its own share of unelected officials. Pierre Trudeau became Prime Minister before he won an election. The problem is that Ivanka is unelected, unfit, unqualified and has a gaping black void where her ethics should be.

  8. Coco says:

I wish you all of United States of America a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. You will REALLY NEED IT. All except President Idiot, his First Mail Order wife, his complicit wife/daughter (EWW), Beevis and Butthead, Vice President “Mama’a Boy” and his rest of his a** kissing Administration.

As for his Trump supporters. I hope for their sake they have a great Christmas because coming next year, they will lose more than their fair share of wealth with their President “Savior”. I have just read that GM had job cuts and Farmers losing money because of Trump’s stupid Tariffs. However you can call me petty so… I GLAD!

    • lucy2 says:

LOL apparently if you google image search “idiot”, almost all the pictures are him.

    • Anna says:

But his supporters will never turn on him. Supporting white supremacy is preferable to them to anything else, no matter what they may call it. He will spin away the cuts and losses and require continued allegiance to his fascist, dictatorial throne.

      • Jerusha says:

Yesterday I responded to a trumpanista who was carrying on about Barron’s wonderful parents. I tweeted that I felt sorry for Barron. She responded by calling me inhuman. I considered sending her pics of the loving family(daddy fondling ivanka, melania porn modeling, Barron downcast always)but I’ve restrained myself. I try not to interact with morons.

      • chocolate princess says:

@Anna. They will stay in poverty for as long as their natural lives at stake because being a bigot is not going to get them anywhere but down. They can support President Idiot all they want. As a great President once said before “if you can convince the lowest white man that he’s better than the best- coloured man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.” LET THEM SUPPORT PREZ IDIOT, THEY WILL FEEL THE A HARD SLAPS.

  9. lucy2 says:

Whatever the situation may be, considering her father and the whole GOP has thrown a continuous temper tantrum about the emails for YEARS, you’d think everyone there would be extra careful about it and not use anything but the government ones.
But, they don’t think. Or care.
I so hope she gets taken down.

  10. anniefannie says:

Deb Roberts let her off the hook or didn’t understand why using dot gov is required! Emails getting hacked by adversaries is of the biggest concern and security around private emails aren’t as high…

  11. adastraperaspera says:

I watched the interview clips with the sound off. Ivanka’s body language betrays a sense of panic and fear. Very different from her usual casual arrogance. She’s caught in the web, and she knows it.

  12. Jerusha says:

Nobody with a brain believes anything these monsters say.

  13. damejudi says:

Love the header pic. Shows that Princess is just as capable of making derp face as her idiot brothers.

  14. Mona says:

Not from the US & I am a bit confused about her role. Who would her counterparts have been in previous administrations – Obama, Bush, etc. I know she is taking no salary but she is costing tax payers $$$$$ in security and lodging expenses alone. What value does she bring to the table exactly?

    • Who ARE These People? says:

You’re right to be confused because the US government is not supposed to be dynastic. There were no counterparts in previous administrations. She’s there to a) protect daddy and b) enrich herself via far-reaching access.

There have been times when family members covered for ailing presidents, as when Edith (Mrs.) Wilson ran the White House after Woodrow had a stroke, but there were never positions for ‘first son’ and ‘first daughter.’ John Kennedy appointed his brother to be Attorney General, which did not look good at all, but Robert Kennedy was approved by the Senate at least (and had a law degree?) and JFK was not under investigation while making the appointment.

      • Berry says:

There are anti-nepotism laws but the GOP Congress did not enforce them for Trump. That’s wny this is allowed to continue.

Once Trump is thrown out of office, all of the norms he’s violated during his campaign and presidency are going to need to be formalized and turned into laws.

By the way, in a normal administration, there would be no way for any of the Trumps, including Donald J. himself, would ever be able to pass background investigations to get security clearances.

  15. Digital Unicorn says:

Ah daughter/wife is using the big words to show off how smart she is and how she is completely different from Hillary and how she would never ever behave that way.

  16. PeggingOut says:

Can’t stand her, didn’t vote for daddy either …but I will say this: managing a crazy day/night schedule , having school age children with activities, husband likewise, needing to employ multiple nannies, secretaries, etc, and juggling all the schedules, coordinating, communication etc……how anyone wouldn’t not have some email crossover between business and personal accounts in this situation is beyond me.

Goodness knows I couldn’t (and didn’t) manage it, But I wasn’t in a WH position either.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

It’s quite possible. I ran 2 different accounts, one personal (and I am a mother, too), one business, for years and years – and that was without an elaborate IT support team as she would have at the White House. If she’s supposedly smart enough to be a senior White House advisor, then she’s smart enough to figure this out. Or if she was that overwhelmed by her life, then she didn’t have to go to Washington, DC in the first place.

      • PeggingOut says:

Then there was a lot of duplication. My job wasn’t government…..I didn’t have onerous regs to navigate..,…but it was very large non profit…….but yeah, I had slop over between the 2 accounts. But I didn’t break laws, I didn’t engage in international bro haha, I probably could have figured out a bright line if I had too…but I didn’t have to. Besides clean living helps, right ?🤷‍♀️

  17. Sansblague says:

Isn’t the whole entire point of the USA that nepotism sucks? Isn’t that why the US has its own constitution and is not borrowing one from a dynastic country? Just checking.

  18. Fluffy Princess says:

That’s okay Nagini, you might slip past this email controversy–but NY State prosecutors have your name on their list! Why? Hmmmm, Nagini, does Felix Slater and some dirty dirty dealings on Trump Soho and a Trump property in Canada ring a bell? And then there’s the whole Trump family tax issue–and the CFO of the Trump org. has cut a plea deal and started talking about how the whole Trump businesses are run–where they get their money from, how they use it and abuse it, how they cheat people. . .The boogie man is coming for you Nagini and even papa Voldemort won’t be able to save you from STATE charges, hun!

  19. Miss Melissa says:

Want to know how she got into Wharton? It had nothing to do with intellect.

It had everything to do with a deal for donations to the school by her father. He agreed to donate provided he could pay once per year for four years… to coincide with her guaranteed four years at the school.

She did not have the grades. Shocking, I know.

  20. hogtowngooner says:

She play-acts as a businesswoman-supermom. She did at the Trump Org, she’s doing it at the White House. To call herself the First Daughter is gross. It makes me think of Ross from Friends when he said “That’s not a THING!”

I don’t know why, but when I saw her standing with the South Korean president at the Olympics closing ceremonies, I couldn’t figure out why she was in the VIP box with the host country’s leader. The next Olympics aren’t being held in America, the Americans didn’t win the most medals or anything. But there she was, smiling and oozing entitlement.

If Chelsea Clinton had gone to work for President Hillary AND using private email while doing government business, Republicans would have had a rage-stroke and initiated impeachment proceedings. But obviously when it’s Princess First Daughter, it’s cool.

  21. Nichole says:

I had actually never heard her speak before. Is she a smoker?

  22. Flan says:

She’s right that there’s no equivalence. Hillary’s father never based a presidential campaign around his opponent’s emails. Hers did. She owes her position in the White House to it.

So, she has far more to answer for by making that specific mistake than HIllary.
