Offset crashed Cardi B’s Rolling Loud set, and Cardi was not happy about it

Earlier this month, Cardi B announced that she had split from Offset, her undercover husband. Everyone knew that Cardi and Offset were together, but they only revealed that they’d quietly gotten married months after the fact. I am convinced that the divorce will probably be one of the biggest “messy” stories of 2019, but I was impressed with Cardi’s maturity in her split announcement. She didn’t attack Offset or denigrate him in any way. She really sounded like her priority was taking care of herself and their daughter Kulture, and that she still loved Offset and hoped they could coparent.

Unfortunately, a lot of people around Cardi and a lot of her fans were like “Cardi and Offset should get back together” or “this is just some stunt, they’re obviously still together.” No and no. Cardi knows her own mind. Respect that. Her fans should respect that she’s done with Offset, and Offset should respect that she’s done with him. Offset hasn’t respected that. Offset has been making a lot of noise about how he’s going to “win her back” and convince her to be together again, like he wasn’t cheating on her throughout their marriage or whatever.

Over the weekend, Cardi was in the middle of her performance at Rolling Loud when Offset “crashed” the stage. Offset had roses and a microphone, and he seemed to beg her for forgiveness, and for her to take him back. No one heard what Cardi said, but she didn’t throw her arms around him and announce their reunion, so I think we can assume that she was not into this sh-t. Here’s the video:

To all the young women and young men out there who think this is romantic, please stop. Granted, I’m old-school in that I almost always think that a big, PUBLIC gesture is going to be tacky and gross. But this specific move – to emotionally manipulate his estranged wife WHILE SHE’S WORKING, in public – is actually making me feel sick to my stomach. Cardi let the world know she was done with Offset, and the people around her don’t have her back at all. They were working with Offset so that he could do this emotionally manipulative stunt. To all the young people out there: when a man or a woman says NO, they mean it. This behavior is a red flag.

Hours later, Cardi behaved like so many women behave in these situations – she tried to smooth things over and minimize her ex’s creepy, toxic, manipulative behavior. I understand that she doesn’t want people to really go in on Offset. But for a lot of people, this is a teachable moment about respect, consent, relationship red flags and emotional manipulation.

I’m really disgusted that the venue was on board with this; like, he wanted to interrupt her set and they all went ‘yes great idea’. It’s gross. I feel so bad for Cardi, she must have been mortified.

    • Char says:

Cardi should fire everyone who works for her and let that happen. This was unprofessional of all of them.

    • Megan says:

I’ve been backstage at big concerts and I’m not buying that this wasn’t set up by Cardi and her producers. It is impossible to get to the stage without the proper credentials.

      • Lala11_7 says:

If her Tour Manager and her entourage were in on it and obviously they were…because Cardi got a lot of HER people from the Migos camp to help her…so…yes…HE COULD get backstage without Cardi knowing…I’ve been involved in big concert tours too…your staff handles all of that while the talent is getting ready to go on the stage….This does not look like a PR setup and it does not FEEL like one either…

      • Gaby says:

Apparently, the Rolling Loud people were in on it. They help it happen, hoping it would be good publicity. She should sue them.

    • Abbess Tansy says:

I totally agree about firing people. The publicist and any member of her team that was in on this bullsh** needs to go.

  2. Torontoe says:

Watching this made me so angry on her behalf. He cheats on her by all accounts multiple times, she ends it without blaming him, he responds with multiple online pleas to her which she wisely ignored, and then he crashes her work and bum rushes the stage at her job to make it all about him, hoping that what ? She’ll be so embarrassed she has to take him back? At the core, he does not respect her, her career or her choices if this is his behaviour.

And those crew members who went along with this (to say nothing of her security) should remember who is cutting their cheques and follow her wishes or find new employment.

    • Alissa says:

I was really angry for her too. way to interrupt her at her job and then turn any headlines about the show into him and not about her performance. you could tell from the video that she was really pissed.

      • Scal says:

Someone mentioned that her publicist was seen walking offset to the stage-in that case someone needs to get fired stat.

I don’t think she was in on it-but clearly members of her team were as there’s no way he gets a full mic, set up and through the many layers of security without them. She needs to start firing people today.

  3. BlueSky says:

Of course, all the men were like “yeah, get your woman back!” First of all women are not property. Second, if you were in the middle of a meeting and your ex wife comes in with a Mariachi band declaring her love for you, would you be okay with that??? Third, this is not some f@cking rom com movie, that sh@t doesn’t work in real life. Look at her body language. She’s clearly upset and uncomfortable and he really doesn’t give a sh@t because it’s all about him. And what is everyone talking about today??? Not that she was the first female rap artist to headline that festival or her performance, it was this stupid stunt. I would be pissed at the organizers and the people who supposedly work for me for allowing this.

Oh and I guess it’s no coincidence that he is supposed to be having a solo album coming out.

    • Ellie says:

@BlueSky, I wondered why on earth he did this when he clearly isn’t committed to her well-being and didn’t love her enough to keep it in his pants. Then you explained it all “he is supposed to have a solo album coming out.” Sigh.

  4. Valois says:

This guy is trash and so are all the other rappers supporting him. Making your crowd shout “take him back, Cardi” at concerts, seriously? Why not “stop cheating, Offset?”
And The Game who has a bunch of different baby mommas and preys on teenagers goes on instagram rants saying women should be more loyal and a marriage is good and bad times.

Trash trash trash, all of them.

  5. Who ARE these people? says:

No no no. I agree that this is wrong a thousand different ways. If she doesn’t want to deal with him in private, he shouldn’t force her to deal with him in public. It’s all about him. It puts her on the spot. Gross.

  6. Mia4s says:

The venue has now released a statement that they had no idea this was happening, just that “something” would. Hahahaha! Oops, somebody miscalculated.

Good lord I could write a novel on all the things wrong here. First, this is her workplace!! She has a job to do! Second, he didn’t make some minor mistake he needs to apologize for. He CHEATED. Even if she had thrown her arms around him it wouldn’t have been romantic….it would have been sad. You want romantic? How about agreeing to go to counselling for a few months and then calling her up for a private conversation so there is some indication your gestures aren’t all for show. Third….oh who cares. Suffice to say, this was bad.

  7. Rando says:

There’s already whispers that she was in on this stunt which I’d prefer over her being publically humiliated by a cheating ex. I hope she was in on this because what a way to ruin a milestone performance of your baby’s mom than to make her being the first female headliner into your own chance to shine. Gross.

    • LORENA says:

Apparently her publicist was in on it and she already released a video defending her

    • lucy2 says:

Somebody had to approve it, otherwise security would have stopped him or anyone from “crashing” the stage and all.
If it wasn’t her, she needs to seriously fire anyone who did it.
If she did OK it, kind of lame.

  8. Ides of March says:

I sincerely hoped that this was a publicity stunt on both sides but looking at the video, it doesn’t seem that way. This a**hole took HER moment and made it about him and his needs.

Cardi, you did the right thing girl. He’s gross and needs to step away.

  9. Otaku fairy... says:

I found it kind of creepy and uncomfortable too. A little stalkerish. Hopefully this will be his last gesture like this and he’ll take the hint.
Her glittery eyeshadow is pretty. That’s the only way red/pink eyeshadow seems to look good and not make a person look sick.

  10. LORENA says:

He wants to publicly ask for her forgiveness so that he can then turn it around and blame her
if she doesn’t take him back saying “well I tried and she didn’t want to work on it” to which I say oh please…

  11. Cee says:

Ooh I hope she gets a Rottweiler for a lawyer. He will not let her go.

  12. Snowflake says:

That is so not cool, staging this onstage while she’s performing, caught off guard cause she didn’t know it was coming. In his head he probably thought he embarrassed her publicly so he would apologize publicly. But it puts her in the situation of looking like the bad guy if she doesn’t say yes. Maybe another reason why he did that way. I really hope she doesn’t take him back. He seems to be really ok w blatantly cheating on her. It’s not a one time oops. Don’t take him back Cardi.

  13. Lala11_7 says:

The FIRST thing Cardi needs to do is totally separate her professional staff from Offset/Migos…she is too dependent on him from a business standpoint and that dependency allows Offset to run rampant…which is how he was able to orchestrate this whole trifling AF mess in the first place…her staff is loyal to Offset…NOT to her…

After that…she just needs to keep doing what she’s doing…because you can NEVA tell another person about their relationship….but when you get tired…for REAL…you’ll leave…

    If you’re lucky….

    • Abbess Tansy says:

I completely agree with you. Definitely she needs a new team with her best interests in mind.
You know what I find really disturbing about this? All of these rappers and such are coming out of the woodwork telling Cardi she needs to take him back. As if it’s any of their business. These jerks can miss me with their misogyny and patriarchal overtones.

      • BlueSky says:

That just pisses me off, these idiots who can’t be faithful in their own relationships lecturing to a woman to take him back because “no one is perfect” Meanwhile, these same m@therf@ckers would kick a woman to the curb without hesitation if she cheated on him and call her out of her name. And all his boys would be “yeah f@ck her!” There would be no “hey man take her back no one is perfect.” Women are not expecting perfection, they expect fidelity. If you can’t do that, you have no business getting married.

  14. Veronica S. says:

Even if it is a publicity stunt, it’s gross. Just flat out uncomfortable to watch. It’s pathetic and emotionally manipulative from his end and embarrassing from hers.

  15. Case says:

This is one of those things that a movie would try to present as a romantic gesture when it’s really just super creepy and manipulative.

I’m not involved in this genre of music at all, but I do like Cardi and think she’s pretty genuine. Unfortunately I don’t believe this was a stunt.

  16. Catlady says:

Good riddance to Offset, who will be extra busy with yet another baby if the reports that Summer Bunni is pregnant with his child are true…

  17. TheOriginalMia says:

She needs to fire her team. They took her moment and have it to her ashy husband, who cheated on her, embarrassed her and has his fans and fellow rappers harassing her. He doesn’t care one bit for her well being. Just his standing with his bros. It’s so ugly and toxic and I hope she doesn’t take him back, but if she does, I hope she comes to the realization she does deserve better than him.

  18. Lala11_7 says:

Saddest thing is that she is the FIRST woman to headline the Rolling Loud concert…and something that should have been vanguard and phenomenal will now end up being associated with being a HUGE emotional mess…

The look on Cardi’s face after that rolled that BS off the stage and she started performing…

    That look was pure tragedy….

  19. Yes Doubtful says:

I feel bad for Cardi being put under pressure by him, fans and other celebs to go back to him. Give her some space and time everyone. I would be mortified if a man ever came to my job begging for me to take him back. She handled that incredibly well. I don’t mind her IG posts telling her fans not to bully him. He is a POS, but she can handle it herself. I do think she should have some words for her team for allowing this to happen though. She needs to separate business from friendship.
