Meghan Trainor & Daryl Sabara had a backyard wedding on her birthday

Of all the popular singer/songwriters, Meghan Trainor is one of my favorites. She cranks out earworm hits, but did you know that she’s also a hitmaker for other artists? She wrote Jennifer Lopez’s “Ain’t Your Mama,” Fifth Harmony’s “Sledgehammer,” and Rascal Flatts’ “I Like the Sound of That,” among many others. So her career is on fire and she’s now married! Meghan married her boyfriend, actor Daryl Sabara, in a backyard ceremony in front of about 100 guests. The ceremony was on her 25th birthday, December 22. The two first started dating in the summer of 2016 and got engaged last year on December 21st. Meghan has made no secret of the fact that she wanted to make it official with Daryl, admitting that she wrote the song “Marry Me” about him just a few months after they got together. And now they’re married! People has the details:

The Grammy winner wed actor Daryl Sabara on Saturday — her 25th birthday — in front of 100 close friends and family in an intimate backyard ceremony at their L.A. home, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

“It’s the beginning of an awesome, whole new life,” says Trainor. “I got way more than I ever wished for.”

“I’m the luckiest guy in the world,” adds Spy Kids star Sabara, 26.

To walk down the aisle, the bride wore an elegant Berta gown, Badgley Mischka heels and Norman Silverman jewels. Then for the reception, where guests noshed on an assortment of comfort foods, Trainor slipped into a lace suit by Rita Vinieris and Aldo sneakers to get the party started.

As for what the newlyweds are looking forward to most in marriage?

“Just rockin’ them rings!” says Trainor, who exchanged bands with Sabara after reciting hand-written vows during the ceremony, which was coordinated by the wedding planners at Sacks Productions. “I’m really excited to say ‘hubby’ and ‘husband.’

“I’m no longer the ‘future hubby’ — I get to just be the hubby, which I’m excited about!” adds Sabara.

They are so cute together! He sounds so happy to make it legal. Both of them gush about each other actually. As a divorced person, I do wonder whether it’s smart to marry someone on your birthday. Even if you stay with them forever it’s no longer just your special day. Anyway congratulations to Meghan and Daryl! They took their time getting married and they seem like the real deal. People has the official photo, that’s above, and her dress is beautiful.

She looks gorgeous and very happy but she bugs me because she seems to be one of those woman that doesnt feel complete w/o a man. I have a few friends like this and it’s so disheartening to see accomplished, successful woman that feel less than unless married….

Lots of love in the air these days! Wishing them all the best.

My sister got married on her birthday (now referred to in our family as her “Birth-a-versary”) and I can tell you she regretted that decision immediately. She loves her husband but he’s not much of a card or gift giver and so when he forgets, it’s a double whammy – both her birthday and their anniversary. I think it best to avoid all national holidays and birthdays when getting married. Make it a separate day that’s just yours.

    Where. Is. Time. Going.

I’m not her biggest fan, but I will say this: they look so happy, her dress is gorgeous and her makeup is out of this world. Much luck and love to the couple.

I got married on my 25th birthday. Bad idea. I regretted it while I was married (husband was a bad gift-giver…when he actually remembered). And regretted it even more after we divorced over 5 years later. I’m now remarried with kids, so my birthday still isn’t really about me anyway. I turn 40 next year, and I am determined to reclaim my birthday, damnit!

When will the flower walls end, y’all? It just looks like cauliflower. Lots and lots of cauliflower.

I hope she took that year of engagement to get a great pre-nup in place.

I think I can’t take her husband seriously because he played the kid brother in the Spy Kids movies lol and he sort of turned into an awkward looking adult like Macauley McKulkin. Glad she’s happy though!

Awww, they seem equally goofy in love – good on them
