Kobe Bryant & his wife Vanessa are expecting their fourth daughter

After multiple infidelities and one rape charge, Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa finally had enough in 2011. She filed for divorce from the man she had been with since they were teenagers. It looked like their divorce was going to be messy and it looked like Vanessa was definitely going to walk away with a major payday. But a year later, she called off their divorce. In 2016, they announced they were expecting their third child, their third girl. Well… it looks like Retired Kobe still wants more kids, because Vanessa is pregnant with another girl.

New year, new Mambacita? Former Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant announced Tuesday night that he and his wife, Vanessa, are expecting their fourth child — a baby girl, or as Bryant wrote, “another #mambacita.” The couple already has three daughters: Natalia, Gianna and Bianka.

[From ESPN]

I feel like it’s sort of weird that Kobe will be the father of four girls – it probably happened naturally, and Vanessa is only 36 years old, and I don’t think she’s needed any fertility treatments for any of her pregnancies. People on Twitter are making a big deal about how Kobe has wanted a boy for a while, so maybe this was Vanessa’s last attempt at “giving him a boy,” only to find out that they’re expecting another girl. I also think it’s weird that Kobe’s whole deal is so whitewashed. It’s not just about giving an Oscar to an accused rapist (which happened). It’s about pretending that Kobe and Vanessa have this super-strong marriage or whatever. They’re extremely messy. But I guess Vanessa is just ride-or-die for him and she’s going to keep on having babies.

Unlike most of the other MeToo men, Kobe was tried in court even if we don’t like the outcome. Regardless of rape charge, marriage is just as messy as other folks including sports stars. They were also teens when they got together so both were probably extremely immature and had lots of growing up to do.

      He wasn’t tried in court.

Kobe has always been problematic. They weren’t teens when they met. She was 17, he was in his twenties. They got engaged on her 18th birthday. He was never tried on the rape charge bc it never went to trial. First he lied and pulled a Bill Clinton saying he never had sexual relations with her. Then it came out they found his dna in her underwear and he changed his tune. The victim refused to testify so they dropped the case. The victim proceeded to sue him in civil court and he settled. The amount is undisclosed. Let’s not forget the gossip around their separation a few years ago. He was allegedly cheating with a cheerleader. And of course, she was fired bc NBA rules, iirc. Kobe has always been sketchy and most people overlook it.

I stand corrected!! Thought there was some trial.. may be civil

Well its day 2 of 2019, and I’m turning over a new leaf.. congrats to the couple and family… regardless of what happened or how messy or strong their marriage is, a new baby is a blessing and I’m sure they will give it a great life. From the Instagram pics I see of their daughters, they look happy and healthy. I don’t even care about Kobe, but whatever, none of my business and… I’m really trying this new leaf of positivity. Don’t get me started on Trump, because the streak will be over. Lol

He really did get away with it, didn’t he? I suppose he’s lucky it all happened many years ago, before #metoo, or it may have had a very different outcome for him. Or not.

I do not understand how you stay with someone like that, but she’s clearly made her decision.

He creeps me the hell out and always will.

And why do I get the sense the “wanting a boy” is not just some innocent, “oh wouldn’t that be nice” thing? Honestly, I hope he only ever has daughters and has to worry about them coming into contact with the wrong man for the rest of his life. Seems fitting.

Kobe was tried in court. The prosecutor dropped the case when the victim refused to take the stand . she later filed a civil suit which Kobe settled.

Also , people forget how messy the entire case was , but I followed it closely at the time and remember very clearly. First, there was the little issue of the state forensic lab testifying for the defense as the physical evidence was not in their opinion consistent with rape.

There was also the issue of the victim’s employer writing a letter to the judge refuting claims that the victim was visibly injured and upset after leaving Kobe’s room. According to the woman’s boss, she was was not disheveled, upset, bruised or acting out of character, but closed her drawer and went home as per usual.

Then there was the sticky issue of finding other DNA in the woman’s underwear ,
two of which the lab determined were deposited after she had allegedly been violated by Kobe.

The whole case was a mess and the DA, ended up stepping down sometime after it.

Yeah, I’m not a Kobe fan personally, but if we’re going to bring this up every time he’s covered, I suggest people read up on that case a bit more. The police discovered his accuser had lied about multiple things during initial interviews and the case was dropped before trial started after she refused to testify following that.

      • Someone says:

Kobe is immensely talented and smart! However one of the reasons the case was dropped was because the accuser was getting death threats, she had to drop out of school and stop working and had to move.
People saw her crying at the hotel and as for whoever said she had had sex wirh someone else, that’s victim shaming. Why do so many people make excuses for powerful men like Kobe??? Sad.

If he really wanted a son that bad, he would have went the Kim and Kanye route and did IVF and used gender selection. You’d be surprised at how many rich people do that. What’s wrong with having 4 girls? Maybe he’s happy having only daughters?

  7. Rachel says:

With their money, they could’ve chosen the sex of this baby if they had really wanted to or planned to get pregnant. I’m choosing to believe that forces above don’t want a misogynist and rapist raising another male. Breaks my heart that he has access to the hearts and minds of four young girls though – absolutely disgusting.

    • Mash says:

@rachel thats a bit much. He was given his day in court (or at least) that was the plann then the alleged victim refused to testify, also there was the matter of other dna found to be after the alleged assault from kobe. All in all the case was dropped.

I for one dont just believe anyone (man or woman) until the facts are there. I am currently going through a family situation where an ex partner of my sibling falsely accused them of assault….though video proves otherwise. We believe did this due to the fact of him getting his new gig and the fact that he was going to leave her and the relationship). My eyes have been open to how this climate has allowed unjustness to persevere.

Me too girl, me too. And good luck.

  9. Lala11_7 says:

I couldn’t stand him before he got into the NBA…and that hasn’t changed….

But I’m ALWAYS happy to hear about new babies…

    Babies …are GOOD!

  10. Harryg says:

Cannot stand Bryant and his smug face.

  11. K.T says:

To Kobe Bryant and his supporters…

Letter in court from Bryant to victim: “Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize that she did not and does not view the incident in the same way I did. After months of reviewing testimony, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I know understand how she feels that she did not consent to this behaviour. I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains.”

The victim got Kobe to apologise to her in a AND admitted she thought it was rape!!!! When the accused ADMITS exactly what he is, believe it! Kobe was lucky the case was waaaay before #metoo and the survivor was terrorised by the system & his rabid fans. Ugh, horrible.

    • Reggie says:

That press conference and statement Kobe gave were well before facts of the case really started to emerge while he was trying to save his skin after being crucified in the media.

And before you cry wealthy athlete , remember that the state lab didnt decide to testify in OJs favor because he was a wealthy popular athlete

The truth is the case against Kobe was a mess from the word go.

      • K.T says:

Kobe Bryant’s eye-opening statement of apology (and stating he understood the woman thought it was non-consensual?!) came after the criminal case was dismissed. It was AFTER the pelimenary hearing had been held and the tabloid press, with his defence attorney and the normal sports press, had effectively leaked the name of the accuser. It already known was known she was a concierge at the hotel, and her sexual history and her mental health history had been raked through the public. She pulled out after all this just before the start of the actual criminal trial.

I totally doubt that the accuser could have got a conviction but the way the victim was treated (according to one author of a book about the case) got another woman to not want to come forward about Kobe had harassed her. It also may have lowered the rate of ppl coming forward about stars in general.

IMO, Kobe is a dude who didn’t think it was rape, thought it was fine to not get consent or just didn’t really understand consent and did what he thought was his right. His actual statement around that issue is amazing.
