The Situation is selling ‘Free Sitch’ t-shirts before he reports to prison for tax evasion

Sometimes the entire story is clearly spelled out in the title. As you’ve heard and don’t give a sh-t about, Mike The Situation Sorrentino has been ordered to spend eight months in federal prison for evading taxes on $8.9 million in income from 2010 to 2012. Yes this doofus from Jersey Shore made that much money. Because this is a financial crime committed by a white guy and not someone caught selling weed or robbing a store, he was sentenced to eight months with weeks to report. In the interim he got married, threw a lavish reception that likely cost seven figures and then honeymooned at a resort in Tucson. He’s got to pay for all that somehow so he’s cashing in on his sentence by selling “free Sitch” t-shirts with his face and the Italian flag on them. How creative. They cost $24.95. Here’s more from where I read this, on NJ.com

The federal prison, located in Orange County, New York, is 123 miles from Sorrentino’s home, about 2 hours and 20 minutes by car. On Monday night, the eve of his voluntary surrender, Sorrentino tweeted his new address for those who want to send him letters.

In October, Sorrentino, 37, was sentenced to eight months in prison, just shy of a decade after he rose to fame on the MTV reality series, which was filmed in Seaside Heights and debuted in 2009.

Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018. In federal court in Newark, Sorrentino said he did not pay the full amount of taxes he owed for 2011. Sorrentino, who admitted to making multiple deposits of $10,000 in order to evade detection by the Internal Revenue Service, was ordered to pay $123,000 in restitution.

According to an indictment, from 2010 to 2012, Sorrentino and his older brother, Marc, earned approximately $8.9 million. Prosecutors said the money came from club and TV appearances Mike made as well as endorsement deals and products the brothers sold off the strength of Mike’s fame.

At his online store, Sorrentino has been selling “Free Sitch” T-shirts featuring his likeness and the colors of the Italian flag for $24.99.

Of course he shouldn’t be allowed to profit from a damn prison sentence for tax crimes. As perspective, the current President owes tens of millions in taxes and has forced nearly half a million people to work without pay for weeks. He also thinks serving cold fast food to NCAA champions is acceptable. I’m not saying Sitch should get off scot free because there’s worse crimes being committed by worse people, just that everything is especially f-ked. How long do you think he’ll serve? I bet less than half his sentence.

OMG

His IG is full of sponcons. Pretty sure his honeymoon was sponsored too:

I don’t know his backstory and I know so many people of color are going to prison for longer for lesser offense but I feel a general sense of rage that karma could catch up with this guy — at least partially — and not Trump.

I don’t know the exact details of this case, but I do know his brother is going away for much longer. Ultimately, everyone knows if you have enough money you can get away with anything … aka R. Kelly.

I don’t understand why so many “celebrities” commit/ get away with tax evasion in the US.

Is income not collected at source? Do Americans have to pay a lump sum at the end of the year?

Not sorry, I love the new Mike. He’s such a good person. He does a lot with the rehab he went to. He sponsors patients. He goes in and talks and helps out. They even showed it on Jersey Shore. He owned up to his mistakes, he paid back everything he had to and he’s going to serve his time. He’s not running away from it and he never denied any of it. I wish him well.

      This.
The new Mike is super positive and he has been dedicating himself to helping others. He took responsibility and never tried to blame others for his mistake. He made some mistakes when he was young but he has grown and learned from them. “We turn our L’s into Lessons”

Also, he has/has had an online merch store for a while now. This shirt he’s selling is just one of MANY things sold.

I can’t lie. I like this version of Mike too. I always gotta give credit to those who get clean and sober and work their programs.

I agree. He seems like a good guy now who has learned from his mistakes. I am sure that MTV paid for his wedding (it was filmed) and the honeymoon.
