Nikki Sixx, 60, is expecting his fifth child more than a decade after his vasectomy

42nd Toronto International Film Festival - 'Long Time Running' - Premiere

I’m old, but I’m not old enough to have really been a fan of Mötley Crüe. My microgeneration was all about Nirvana and Pearl Jam, not the late ‘80s metal scene. Still, those Mötley Crüe guys still make headlines, like Nikki Sixx. Will it make you feel old to learn that Sixx is 60 years old? Will it make you feel even older to learn that his wife is 33, and that she’s expecting their first child (together)? Sixx has four children from previous relationships, but they’re all adults now! His youngest is 18. After his youngest was born, he apparently had a vasectomy. So…lol.

Nikki Sixx‘s “Home Sweet Home” is about to grow by one! The Mötley Crüe bassist, 60, and his wife Courtney, 33, are expecting their first child together and Sixx’s fifth total, PEOPLE confirmed.

“What a great way to start off 2019 for Courtney and me,” Nikki tells PEOPLE. “I am so excited knowing that I’m not going to be touring during the pregnancy, which makes it even more special. My wife is going to make the most amazing mom ever and our whole family is beyond excited.”

The baby on the way is the first for Courtney while Sixx — whose given name is Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna, Jr. — is also dad to Frankie-Jean Mary, 18, Decker Nilsson, 23, Storm Brieann, 24, and Gunner Nicholas, 27.

“We have been talking about having a baby since we met and were married almost five years ago,” Courtney explained. “It’s definitely been on my mind every day. After turning 30, baby fever kicked in big time but we wanted to wait until the perfect time. We are beyond thrilled to be bringing a little Sixx into the world and I know we will make amazing parents together.”

It has been almost two decades since the rocker last became a dad and this baby is on the way despite the bassist having previously had a vasectomy. When it was suggested on the 2007 show Nikki would later have a reversal, he joked he would get a second operation just to make sure the first one worked. Clearly, all that changed after he met Courtney.

[From People]

Well, for one thing, vasectomies aren’t always 100% effective. Secondly, they can be reversed, and maybe that’s why it took a few years for Courtney to get pregnant – he had to make the decision to get it reversed, and it took a moment for everything to get back up and running, so to speak. Anyway, the vasectomy angle is the interesting part of this story. Otherwise, it’s just another infuriating tale of how men continue to father children past the age when they really should. I know that sounds judgmental but IDGAF.

  1. Lexilla says:

He needs to clarify which is true: that the V didn’t work or that he reversed it.

    • joanne says:

why would he need to do that?

      • Lexilla says:

Are we pretending that celebrities don’t trade on their personal lives? That he didn’t open this very personal door himself? He has a chance to put some actually helpful, educational info out there (like hey, vasectomies don’t always work), and I think he should. Stand down.

    • Valiantly Varnished says:

      How is that anyone’s business?

    • paranormalgirl says:

He needs to do nothing of the sort.

    • joanne says:

why do you feel a need to tell me to stand down. he doesn’t owe anyone the information. he may feel comfortable about some aspects of his personnel life and not others. the bottom line is that it’s his choice to disclose the information.

    • Katie Keen says:

Maybe he doesn’t NEED to disclose anything, but he’s the one who put this information out there in the first place. People will speculate.

  2. Mellie says:

How old are these pictures? He doesn’t look 60…maybe plastic surgery or good genes, but for a ‘rocker’, he doesn’t look his age. Loved Motely Crue, they were good, but saw a ‘reunion’ tour and they were just meh, some things are better left in the past.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah I was thinking the EXACT same thing but did you click on the pic where he’s not wearing shades? He’s had work done. Botox and maybe fillers around the eyes and in the cheeks. It doesn’t look too bad…..

These old men are knocking up women in their thirties is just so….*YAWN*. The thing is, they know that they’re a cliché but they don’t care. Oh well. Good for them I guess?

      • FHMom says:

The pic without the shades looks nothing like him, so he’s had work done. I can’t believe he still has that 80’s rocker look. It makes me appreciate rockers like Trent Reznor who changed his look as he aged and is way more attractive than he ever was in his youth. Trent looks great in a tux.

      • Aren says:

I agree with FHMom, he looks great but that’s not Nikki. Just like Madonna and some other artists, they look good but with a completely different face.
And I think some artists that keep the same look forever are just afraid people won’t recognize them, Trent, on the other hand has rather distinctive features.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Ummm…Trent isn’t exactly au naturel. Over the past decade he got way overly eager into weight lifting and some aspects of the culture that come with it, and it made his lovely personality even lovelier.

I hope you can interpret that. He does look good in a suit, though, and shorter hair is good for his face.

    • Hmmm says:

LoL @ good genes. Childish clothes, Botox and hair dye. Probably some hair plugs too.

      • SarSte says:

Wearing big glasses and a big headband over you forehead doesn’t hurt either!

      • K-Peace says:

Hahaha…He looks absolutely ridiculous. His “look” hasn’t been cool for several decades. He just looks like a sad, pitiful joke. Gross.

And I would bet any amount of money that he’s wearing a wig.

    • isabelle says:

He has always looked younger than his age. He was late 30s pushing 40s in his gig Motley Crue days.

      • Diplomanatee says:

True. Plus, he was mighty fiiiiiiine in his day. Even with work done, I don’t find it weird he aged well, à la Jon BonJovi.

    • elimaeby says:

The neck shows his age a little bit. If (ha, if?!) he’s had work done on his face, his doctor deserves kudos. He looks pretty darn good for 60!

    • Katie Keen says:

Copious amounts of Botox and filler, and an eye lift. Possibly a full face lift, but most of his face covered by a bandana and beard, so it’s hard to tell.

  3. SJknows says:

Crue, back in their heyday, were a great band. That was then, none of them have aged well. And, I am tired of men marrying females young enough to be their children, and then having kids in their senior years.
What’s the matters fellas…can’t deal with women your own age who remember all your bad behavior.
Ugh! Well, this current will be earning the money for certain.
IMO, the human race can get along fine without more celeb offspring. For Gods sake, not more kids from Tommy Lee either!

    • Mia says:

I remember seeing them in concert and Whitesnake was the opening act. A portion of the crowd left after Whitesnake’s performance. I believe this was the Girls, Girls, Girls tour.

  4. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Showing my age here…. Too Young to Fall in Love and Shout at the Devil were my fav MC tunes lmao.

    Forgot Helter Skelter lol.

  5. Kittycat says:

    Father and daughter

  6. Zip says:

My grandma was a great-grandmother by 62 years – without any of the kids or grandkids being underaged when having their first children. Just saying.

  7. Hmmm says:

Appears aging and growing up has been really hard for him.

  8. Anastasia says:

I’m old enough to have been a fan of Crue, but I wasn’t. I was more into The Cure, et al.

That being said, the more time has passed since the vasectomy, the harder it is to reverse it successfully. I mean you can PHYSICALLY reverse it, but the chances of it working are slim to none. So I sort of side-eye this. Sorry not sorry.

    • Nova says:

Slim to none is not impossible. I don’t get what you are side-eyeing though. Do you think he never got a vasectomy or that the baby is not his? I immediately thought the latter after reading the long term vasectomy(????). But surely even if he is that dumb, his doctor or accountant isn’t.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Ah The Cure. School was all rock, but college on, it was nothing but alternative and hunting down obscure Euro imports lol. Then grunge smacked me on the face, and I was forced to expand.

    • The Other Katherine says:

Sperm can still be extracted surgically using mTESE in many cases where vasectomy reversal is unsuccessful. However, it is unpleasant and expensive. When I used to frequent infertility forums due to my own fertility struggles (not vasectomy-related), the issue of unsuccessful vasectomy reversals came up A LOT for women who were the second wives of older men. It’s not an uncommon scenario.

  9. Dani says:

Without the glasses, he really doesn’t look bad for 60. I need his surgeons number please. I’m not ‘old’ enough to have appreciated Motely Crue when they were around but my dad loved them so I’m very familiar. I agree with the he’s too old to be having kids because when his kid is graduating high school he’ll be 78.

    • huckle says:

I agree that he will be much older by the time this child grads HS but what does he do when his younger wife wants a child, or any older person that has a younger partner wants a child? At least there’s money and a large family to be involved.

  10. TaniaOG says:

Maybe it’s time for a new look? They should put him on one of those makeover shows.

  11. Cdoggy says:

Peer reviewed research, including this one from Molecular Psychiatry, has shown a significant link between autism and advanced paternal age.
    https://www.nature.com/articles/mp201570
There is also a link with severe ADHD. It might be time to think about other alternatives when wanting a child with an older man?

    • Nova says:

Advanced parental age can affect the baby’s health. Most people already know this. But it is still very unlikely that the kid would have a disorder just because of advanced paternal or maternal age. Biological parents’ family history is a much more indicative of possible health issues than advanced parental age. A couple in their late forties are not going to have a kid with autism and down sydrome unless they are terribly unlucky.

  12. Elisabeth says:

the 61 year old guitarist from Def Leppard just had his 5th child with his 50 year old 3rd wife.

    reeeeediculous

  13. Aren says:

Well, to be fair she looks much older than 33. It’s their choice, so I just wish their baby is healthy.

  14. Usedtobe says:

Proud fan of Motley Crue since 1984 here. I may have been Sixx when I first heard Shout at the Devil but they’ve been a part of me ever since. I’ve seen them multiple times (none in the 80’s unfortunately) and Nikki has always been my fav. He struggled hard with heroin addiction for years and years and I do believe that without a little work he would look ancient. That being said he definitely has had some work done but not to the point of looking like a completely different person and I hope he leaves it that way. And I have no doubt he has hair plugs, no way his hair is as lush as it was in the 80’s/90’s, maybe even more so. When he split with Kat Von D (thank you Jesus) and got with Courtney I rolled my eyes all over the place because of how young she was but they’ve stayed together and are super sweet together. I’m happy for them and the fact that he’s having another child.

    • Mia says:

I remember seeing them in concert and Whitesnake was the opening act. A portion of the crowd left after Whitesnake’s performance. I believe this was the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Remember when he dated and was briefly engaged to Vanity back in the day? Just think of they had married she would have been Vanity Sixx LOL

      • Usedtobe says:

Yes! She was one of Prince’s girls! She and Nikki were addicts together, it was a super sad story.

  15. Littlefishmom says:

    He’s gross.

  16. Ishqthecat says:

IVF with with intracytoplasmic sperm injection after having harvested the sperm via pre-testicular or testicular sperm extraction. The PESE or TESE process for the man isn’t worse than the egg extraction is for the woman during the ivf process. It is expensive but not not a large or painful operation (given adequate pain relief obviously😸).

  17. Puravidacostarica says:

I bet Eddie Cibrian just made an appointment with a doctor:

“Do it again, I said! Whatever it takes, do it again!!!!”

  18. Digital Unicorn says:

He was hot hot back in the day but yeah he’s not aging well even with the surgery.

  19. Darkladi says:

    Co-sign

  20. Velvet Elvis says:

Another aging rocker trying to hang on to his bygone glory days. Why Nikki why?? Underneath the ridiculous 80s hair and clothes, he’s not a bad looking guy. He can still be a bad ass rocker without that hokey head band and long frizzy hair.

  21. Jen S says:

He’s Sixxty! Why are you all skipping this opportunity? C’mon!

  22. Ariel says:

He could have just done what lots of dudes who get vasectomies do: freeze some sperm as insurance. Then it’s a simple turkey baster conception if you decide you want kids later. No vasectomy reversal or failure necessary.
