Jessica Simpson is very pregnant – sheāll probably give birth to her third child in the next month, at least thatās my guess. Itās been a while since Jessica has gone through all of this – she had back-to-back pregnancies with Maxwell Drew and Ace Knute, and theyāre 6 and 5 now. I actually thought Jessica might stop there, but I guess she did want one more. This pregnancy has been very low-key for her – sheās been doing some promotional events around her fashion line, but she hasnāt been getting papād regularly, nor does she seem to be seeking out attention.
Jessica threw a third baby shower over the weekend and we got some new information, or at least this was new info to me. Apparently, sheās expecting a girl and she and her husband already have the name picked out: Birdie. Birdie Johnson.
Jessica Simpson is ready for baby No. 3. On Sunday, the fashion mogul shared several snaps from this weekendās baby shower on Instagram. Captioning a handful of images āBirdieās Nest,ā a source confirmed to Page Six that Birdie is the name Simpson, 38, and husband Eric Johnson have chosen for their unborn daughter. Joined by sister Ashlee, 34, and mom Tina, 59, Simpson also celebrated her baby-to-be with daughter Maxwell Drew, 6, who posed for a photo with her glowing mom. Longtime pal CaCee Cobb was also in attendance.
Thoughts on the name? I think all the names fit together – Maxwell, Ace and Birdie sound like siblings, although it sounds like weāre saying their nicknames rather than their formal birth names. Out of all the names, I think I might like Birdie the most? Itās a name for a plucky young girl who is best friends with her grandma.

I subconsciously picked both of Busy’s kids names for our kitten, and settled on Cricket. But it was like weeks later when I was looking at an instagram she’d posted and it showed both of the kids’ names that I was like “ohhhhhhh that’s why I was on that trend”.
I think it’s cute too. I don’t know if it was something I’d name a child, I’m not very daring. But it’s definitely something I’d use as a nickname.
EDIT. I just realized that with Jess’s pick both the first and last names can be euphemisms for male junk. Which is a little unfortunate.
I would probably have used Birdie as a nickname, too, but that’s because I’m pretty boring lol
What has happened to her face/head? She is still attractive but the shape is so odd in relation to what I use to look like.

I think the enormous amount pf weight she put on for this pregnancy is messing with her features. I get a very strange “square-ish” appearance from her. I could be 100% wrong here, but I think she put on at least 100 pounds in this pregnancy and it is doing quite a number on her.
She has a full preggo face. She’s a pretty short person, so any excess weight really shows. That’s all.
That’s what happens when square faces gain weight. Years ago when I had gained a lot of weight, my face looked like that, but extra flat. I don’t have her cheekbones or chin. It was not an attractive time in my life. LOL

I think Birdie is a very unfortunate name. Who will ever take her seriously once she out grows her teen years? Would somebody trust a lawyer named Birdie? Or would a woman named Birdie be given respect in male dominated work places? I think a name like Birdie is just a huge disadvantage for a woman. Granted, she’ll most likely become a nepotism model anyway and won’t need to apply for real Jobs but I feel like her name automatically reduces her job opportunities.
I dunno. Here in Texas I know Dotties, Dixies, Gigis, Barbies (yes I do), and others in this vein. I don’t think it would hurt her in the South. And I can think of a lot worse names to be had.

Birdie is cute and not uncommon in Texas- itās just an older name. Iām from Texas and I donāt know if itās common in the south, but I would guess maybe so.

Busy Philips 10 year old is named Birdie. I think itās cute, and a lot better than other names. Itās not like this kid will ever have a normal life.
Birdie has been a nickname for my 21 year old daughter since she was two, when I told her the chickadees were singing her shortened name Esie (for Elise). Love it!

I have a dear Grandma Birdie. It’s her nickname, her real name is Beatrice.
That’s my thought. My daughter’s legal name lends itself to a nickname, which is what we call her by, but her name is not that familiar diminutive. I don’t have a problem with calling a child Birdie, it’s cute, but she should have a more formal name to use in circumstances where that is warranted, IMO. So give her a formal name that lends itself to Birdie as a nickname. Of course, I doubt JSimp cares what I think, lol!
This is probably pure p.m.s. talking; these names, for me, represent celebs or wealthy people who are so full of ego and yes people that they’ve lost their minds. Something about it screams clueless and bored.
At the same time, a bigger and progressive side of me says “Hey! To each their own! Name your kid whatever you want and do you!”
That said, Maxi, Ace and Birdie makes me want to kick their parents azzes today.

yes, ace is a nickname. although I was born megan and go by meg and still get older customers at my job refusing to call me that and asking ‘no, what’s the name your mother gave you?’ so controlling and dismissive. i’m 34 lady-its not like I told you call me ‘eagle eye’
How weird that anyone would see the name “Meg” (which I love, by the way) and not want to use it. It’s your name! I could see someone maybe asking if you are a Megan, Margaret or if Meg is your given name, just out of curiosity and if they know you a bit. My daughter’s name is Cassidy (my mother’s maiden name) and she has had people ask her if that is her nickname because surely her parents wouldn’t actually name her that. I don’t think it’s even a really out there name, just a surname name. People can be weird.

We are all getting old when Jessica looks, well less than fresh. The flower crown is killing me, I wish her all the best though, she was always harmless really.
