Robert Pattinson debuted a ‘greasy Jedi’ look at the Dior menswear show

Do you realize that Robert Pattinson has been representing Dior menswear for going on seven years? He first signed a massive Dior contract in 2012, back when he was mega-famous for being a sparkly vampire. He’s still famous, absolutely, but it probably feels like bait-and-switch for Dior: they’ve paid millions of dollars to a guy who they thought was going to be the British Brad Pitt, and he’s basically the British… Ethan Hawke? Sparkles should be so lucky. But my point is that Sparkles has been doing low-key indie movies for years and using his Dior contract to support himself, basically. And has the endorsement been good? Well…

These are photos from the Dior Menswear show a few days ago. Robert decided to go for a… look. Greasy hair, sullen expression, Jedi cloak, bad pants, boots, shiny blouse. Should I go on? Total mess. TOTAL. MESS. So my question is still: is this collab doing either party any good? While the money is great for Sparkles, is Dior hampering his image overall, or is THIS his image/branding? I don’t know.

Meanwhile, the trailer for Rob’s latest film, High Life, just came out last week. This looks strange, but I continue to love him for working with lots of female directors.

    Love him

    • BrickyardUte says:

Me too. I want him to put on a pair of fake fangs and chase me around the house.

hahahahaha. Thanks for the LOL. Yup, I am right there with you. I’d insist he takes a shower first. He’s hot but always looks like he smells just a bit.

  2. Vexa says:

I like Rob, but being brutally honest… this outfit makes him look like he smells.

  3. Esmom says:

    He looks like a hostage.

I love him but maybe he’s not enjoying being Dior’s mannequin.

  4. PlayItAgain says:

It always cracks me up how the Dior people style him for their big events. Sometimes he looks hot, but mostly they make him look…odd. I’m not sure if he goes along because he likes “dressing on the edge” sometimes, or if he’s afraid of being branded as difficult if he says no. Maybe a combination of both.
I still love him even though I suspect he’s a bit of a weirdo beneath that pretty exterior.

    • Werq says:

I think he just plays the game and gives people something to talk about, sometimes it’s a bit over-the-top, but fashion shows are all about new looks, aren’t they?

    • Erinn says:

From all accounts I’ve heard he’s a relatively quiet guy, but also pretty laid back. So I feel like he’s kind of just game for whatever.

    • Hmmm says:

I think he’s just an odd awkward guy. Very strange mouth area and creepy vibe around him and the way he carries himself. Creepy fingers.

  5. Werq says:

All I see is his perfectly chiseled face, not a good hair day though…

  6. Rice says:

What in the dystopian Nazi h*ll is happening here??

  7. terrah says:

    adorable. film looks interesting too.

  8. Splinter says:

LOL. He looks like an extra from a WWI movie, straight from the trenches.

  9. Coccinellidae says:

I can’t really defend his outfit, but I appreciate when male celebrities dress in something besides a grey/black suit for the red carpet. It makes things more interesting.

  10. Lucy says:

LMAO. I love him but even he knows he looks silly. His face says it all! I’m sure at this point he’s just like “eh, whatever”.

    • Anname says:

That’s my thought as well, he was probably like- sure I’ll wear that crazy coat and terrible hair style, why not. But he got that coat off, pushed his hair to the side in a more normal way during the show, and he looked good/normal. Later that evening he put some trainers on and his regular black cap and it was regular Rob again. The shirt, leather jacket, and pants look good on him. It’s the awful hair and overwhelming coat that push this into WTF.

  11. Maum says:

He’s trying to out-Ezra that Ezra kid.

  12. J. says:

No one expected him to become the British Brad Pitt, post-Twilight there was a lot of talk how his 15 minutes were over and he’s bound to fall into obscurity… he did pretty well career-wise actually

  13. Hmmm says:

Not attractive. Bizarre face/body and aging badly.

  14. Sandra Lee says:

Hair has a lot to do with the outcome of looks – this goes for on men and women. If you’ve had a shower, clean hair going and so on, you just tend to look a lot better. Few days without one gives it the greasy look he has. It’s unfortunate that someone doesn’t tell this man to jump in and get cleaned up, it would really help a lot.
