Sarah Sanders: Roger Stone’s arrest ‘doesn’t have anything to do with the president’

Consultant Roger Stone Speaks with the Press at Trump Tower

We have too few moments of actual political catharsis these days, so please enjoy these moments. Donald Trump’s personal adviser and campaign adviser Roger Stone was arrested this morning at his Fort Lauderdale home. This was not a “white collar criminal gets to turn himself into the authorities” moment. No, the FBI in full SWAT gear – reportedly, FBI agents “volunteered” for this, because they aren’t being paid – stormed onto Stone’s property, banged on his door and took him into custody. It’s also believed that they served a search warrant on his Florida home, and his New York apartment simultaneously. Here’s CNN’s exclusive video of the FBI raiding Stone’s home:

You can read more about the seven-count indictment of Roger Stone here, and WaPo had some good analysis of what those indictments mean. I maintain that it was always a matter of “when” Stone would be indicted, never “if.” It was clear back in 2017 that Stone was one of the “lynchpin” figures in this massive conspiracy to steal the election.

Obviously, reporters did some swarming of their own – they got White House press secretary Sarah Sanders (a lying, lazy a–hole) on the record about the Stone arrest. Her answers were… hilarious.

The Christian liar … She who does not know truth should never be believed.

    • Elkie says:

I think you’ll find it’s pronounced “Mammon-worshipping White Evangelical Pharisee”.

      • LaBlah says:

That’s the no true Scotsman argument. The fire and brimstone Christians, the turn the other cheek Christians, the prosperity Christians and every other kind has just as much right to call themselves Christian. The Bible supports them all. That’s the problem with basing your morality and world view on an internally conflicted document initially written by people who thought the earth was flat, edited for political expediency, translated, retranslated, reedited and retranslated etc

If someone says they’re a Christian all you can say is they don’t subscribe to the Christianity you do.

  2. girl_ninja says:

This woman has no soul or heart. The way that she defends this wretched man and this administrations vile acts with such ease is staggering. I wouldn’t believe her if she told me water was wet.

  3. Tootsie McJingle says:

If you smell a skunk, chances are you’ll find a skunk. Of course Trump’s involved.

  4. Kristen820 says:

If “Evil, but dumb” had a face (insert pic of any member of this administration)…

  5. yiza says:

I would volunteer to storm the property and arrest the *;fkj;lkjf* too.

    • Liane says:

Me too! I love that they volunteered. I wonder if they had to turn anyone away? “You can’t ALL go. We don’t have enough vehicles.”

  6. cannibell says:

    Keep telling yourself that, Honey.

  7. Lila says:

I just heard that on the radio and no wonder Sarah Huckabee isn’t giving press briefings much any more. She’s at the end of her ability to lie with confidence.

  8. frankly says:

That’s not what “in the weeds” means. Unless she’s accidentally using it correctly – cuz girl, you are in the weeds.

  9. Becks1 says:

I heard that quote this morning about how this doesn’t have anything to do with the president and just about died laughing.

Keep telling yourself that, Sarah and all other Trump affiliates.

  10. AnnaKist says:

She’s an evil, lying moron, just like her boss. Starting to resemble him, too…

    • TaniaOG says:

Her face looks like it’s melting from all the lies.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah she has the same neck issue as Mitch. These people are repulsive inside and out.

      • Mel M says:

I truely believe their evil soul seeps through to their physical appearance. All of those people, Drump, Sanders, Graham, McConnell, Miller (I’m four years older then this guys and he looks about 20 years older then me), they all look downright evil like in the Devils advocate when Charlize starts to see the demons real faces on the women.

Also can’t forget Bannon who looks like he’s literally rotting.

      • Fluffy Princess says:

@Mel M — I totally agree. After awhile the rot that is on the inside begins to show right on their faces. Let’s add Kellyanne Conway to this pile of face-melting troglodytes. And Ted Cruz. And Orin Hatch.

And props for “Bannon who looks like he’s literally rotting.” OMG!! Double high fives for that analogy!

      • minx says:

This face-melting header pic of SHS is my second favorite one, just behind the goofy demented Brad Pitt pic.

      • holly hobby says:

Yeah I saw a screen shot of her interview on Twitter and her face looks like it’s collapsing. She’s not that old and a few years ago she looked ok (Someone did a profile of her and there were pictures of her when she was younger. She was the most normal looking Suckabee compared to the bros)..

        Sure Jan.

      • paranormalgirl says:

She’s getting the face she deserves.

  11. Lightpurple says:

    Oh, Sarah.

  12. Christin says:

The spin on this is pitifully hilarious.

Comments online —- Poor elderly man arrested so early in the morning, with cameras rolling.

Now she claims to have not read the 24 pages (after having two or three hours to do so) and is not a lawyer.

    Ignorance is such bliss.

  13. Christina says:

Ahahahahaha!!!! Oh, Sarah!! Honey! You know that dad will make sure that you have employment when your White House days are done. Must be nice having the privilege to lie to get your political way knowing that there’s soft, moneyed padding to fall into.

    • Bryn says:

There will always be a misoginistic, racist old white man that needs someone to lie for them to the public. Sarah will be fine. Not sure about what the afterlife will be like for her though, she’s so “Christian”

  14. Tiffany says:

The audio, man, I was on the receiving end of one of those knocks* before. It really does just knock the wind out of you.

*While not the FBI, it was the police. I was a property manager in the building I was living in and they got a call from a resident and when the police arrive they saw blood trailing from one of the apartments, so the person that made the call told them where I lived and I was woken up at 2am to 3 cops yelling ‘Police, open the door’. They wanted the key to the apartment and permission to do a safety check. But still, that is scary stuff.

    • Birdix says:

The cliffhanger! Why was there blood?
I had a similar police experience in New York—they wanted to see through my back window as they were chasing someone. The pounding on the door and yelling certainly gets your blood moving.

      • Tiffany says:

Initially the call was a domestic disturbance and by the time the police arrived and got me up, the couple was gone. So I was with them when they entered the apartment and there were glass bottles shattered on the floor. So I had to go to the office and get some contact information and one of the officers got one half of the couple on the phone and they said they were at the hospital getting stitches on their hand. They asked which one and they would not volunteer it. That was enough for my manager to give them a 10 day to vacate ( not even a 30 day, 10!!! They had other issues and this was their 3rd strike) when the office opened the next business day.

    • Dee says:

I can’t rejoice in anyone getting a knock like that on their door. That was awful to watch.
But so is Sanders’s lying awful to watch.

  15. RBC says:

She constantly has that “I hate my life” look on her face. It will only get worse now Sarah. Bob Mueller is just warming up.

  16. PhillyGal says:

Heard they were worried that Stone might have a number of guns, so that was one reason for the “raid”. Sarah has got to be smart enough to know that the end is near for this President. She is going to look both ignorant and criminal when that happens. What is her motivation at this point to stick with this loser of a President? I cannot imagine.

    • Christina says:

Sarah is like McConnell: the Faustian bargain to get Roe v Wade overturned because “God sent Trump to do it” overrides any logic. They are radicals. They did win a lot. They shifted the Supreme Court. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a wonderful woman. She knows what we could lose, and she is doing her damnest to not allow them to replace her.

      • Patrizio says:

This. The repercussions from Trump’s Supreme Court picks will keep his base happy- and haunt future generations. They don’t care about the marriages, unprotected sex outside the marriage, general immoral/unethical behavior of their leader- it’s all about Roe vs Wade for them. God bless Ruth Bader Ginsburg

  17. Tourmaline says:

    Oh Sarah, come on

  18. Sunnee says:

At first my eyes only saw, “Sarah Sanders arrested”, and my heart leapt with joy. This is hopefully the beginning of the end

  19. OriginalLala says:

Defending and supporting evil is literally melting her face

  20. Darla says:

At some point isn’t she embarrassed? And isn’t that point now?

  21. Tw says:

Sarah’s a young woman. She’ll have plenty of years to enjoy being associated with the greatest political scandal in modern history. “

    • Kitten says:

I cannot believe that she’s 4 years younger than me. I just cannot.

      • Christin says:

KellyAnne is roughly one year older than I am. She looks at least ten years older than anyone I know who is 50 – 53, other than one or two very heavy smoker/drinkers.

      • Kitten says:

YIKES I mean, Sandra Bullock is 54!!!
The stress of lying for a living ages you very quickly.

      • Tw says:

She looks a good 15-20 years older than she is.

      • Chrissy says:

I think she looks like she lives off of coffee and stale air. She’s a shrivelled up witch with straw for hair. I imagine living with her anti-trump hubby and dealing with 4 kids must make her household a bit stressful too. Not that she doesn’t deserve it though.

      • paranormalgirl says:

Wait…. Kellyann Conway is YOUNGER than I am?

    • Olliesmom says:

I can’t believe that this woman has three young children. What does she tell them? What will she tell them when they are older?

  22. Kitten says:

Lying Liar Lies. Shocker. She’s so predictable, so boring. YAWN.

LaGuardia and Newark airport closed to arrivals. This could be the tipping point for the government to reopen.

    • Tiffany says:

Honestly, I am shocked it did not happen sooner. And, aren’t we a week away from Super Bowl: Snoozefest. You can’t tell me Goodall ain’t calling Toxic Tangerine on a burner right now.

    • Veronica S. says:

The company I work for trains and installs medical software on site, so there are literally close to a dozen of us getting flown out somewhere in the American continent every week or two. We’ve been dreading the inevitable since places like LaGuardia are key stopover points in our flight paths. The Atlanta office has been a mess of frustration since their airport is the busiest in the world. People who think this is a government-only issue that won’t affect private citizens are kidding themselves. This is just the start. If this were to drag on for months, it would murder the economy. The fact that Trump thinks the federal government could shut down even *partially* for years is an example of how incompetent and ignorant he is.

      • Christina says:

Veronica S. And Kitten, I’m on a plane to Boston now, and I am extremely concerned that we won’t be able to get back home on Sunday now that LaGuardia and Newark are out of commission. You are not lying.

      • Kitten says:

Wow yeah I can imagine what a logistical nightmare that would create.

“The fact that Trump thinks the federal government could shut down even *partially* for years is an example of how incompetent and ignorant he is.”

I think that’s part of the problem. Along with Jared, there were 30 other members of the Trump administration that were flagged as a no-go for high clearance but were overruled by a Trump appointee who’s only job is to determine clearance level and suitability. These people were denied because of their various business dealings overseas. Some, I would imagine, were targeted for political influence by foreign agents and oligarchs, like Jared was.

This is my roundabout way of saying that Trump is basically Putin, surrounding himself with the American version of an oligarch: wealthy, elite businessmen who understand little about the machinations of government. The Davos crowd doesn’t get that a government shutdown means more than “Dems” (snort) not getting paid. It really drives home how little interest these people even have in our government. They don’t care. They just want money and power.

@Christina-Good luck…I hope you will be ok. Sigh. On the bright side, you are coming here when we just had a warm spell and a storm that cleared away most of the snow from last weekend. Clear sidewalks in the Bean are everything this time of year. 🙂

      • Cleo17 says:

My husband was laid off last week with two days notice after being told he was going to be permanently hired on. He was a contract worker for two years. Our health insurance is $1200 a month because of the tangerine toddler. We can’t go without it because we have a young daughter, and I’ve had cancer. We haven’t been eligible for subsidies because he has health insurance through the temp agency. Crappy health insurance, but because he can get it, we can’t get subsidies. We are now eligible for them, but no one is answering the phone because of the shutdown. We may have to let our health insurance lapse which is absolutely terrifying to think about. And he has hurt others so much more. People are dead because of him. I used to hate how much I hated that man. I don’t like being consumed with it. But now? I’m going to put this in a way that won’t get me arrested. I hope he spends the rest of his life stepping on Legos and suffering from paper cuts. In prison. With his whole family. And I hope it’s televised.

      • Christina says:

Thanks, Kitten. I feared snow, so I brought my used EBay cashmere collection, lol! My kid is auditioning for Berklee, so we had no choice but to get on the damn plane while the Tangerine Terror screws up the airline system. I thanked the TSA agents for showing up as we entered the airport. These poor folks.

      • Veronica S. says:

Cleo17 – I was a contractor up until this month, so I understand your pain with the benefits. I can’t even imagine how frightening it would be to have a child to care for on top of it. The fact that this country feels it’s acceptable for people to pay $1200 premiums for basic medical care is just an example of how evil and misplaced our priorities are as a nation. I hope that your family remains safe and cared for the time being.

      • meh says:

$1,200 a MONTH??? Oh man. How do people even pay that kind of money?

    • Swack says:

And Philadelphia. Which these will then trickle down to all the other airports.

      • Veronica S. says:

I’m honestly shocked Atlanta hasn’t gone down yet. It’s the busiest airport in the world, though that may be what’s saving it. It can’t afford to go down because of how much international intake it receives.

    • Olliesmom says:

The 1% don’t care. Airports are for the unwashed masses. They have their private jets and their private runways.

      • Arpeggi says:

They still need air traffic controllers and airport staff. I’m glad TSA and controllers finally had enough and stopped going to work. I always knew that that was what was needed to end the shutdown because it’d be truly disturbing. I’m sorry for all the people who had to live, and in many case, work for 35 days without a pay check.

  23. Beth says:

It went exactly the way it always does. She dodges questions and goes out of her way to defend Trump. Every time she starts a sentence with the word “Look,” you know a lie is coming. I can’t keep up with how many times in interviews and press briefings she’s said “The president did nothing wrong,” Suckabee sold her soul and has no chance of ever being hired ever again in the future

    • Christina says:

Girl, I don’t even listen to Sarah. There is no point. The power is with the Senate and the House. The Senate is trying to get its Faustian bargain, and they need to approve anything the Orangutan Don is pushing from the Heritage Foundation list. When the White House worked with the other branches during Obama and Bush, I’d listen, but the White House folks sensationalize everything, and they think they aren’t rascist because they have some very conservative minorities working with them. My lefty-commie-pinko-snowflake ass already hated reality TV, so I don’t find it entertaining or informative. The dog whistle racism pings my nerves as an American who is of Mexican and African American descent.

  24. Veronica S. says:

“I don’t understand why you think we’re full of shit” said the dung beetle atop the hill of waste.

  25. Snap Happy says:

    Sure, Jan.

  26. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

That last pic says everything one needs to know about this miserable piece of work.

  27. JRenee says:

Wow, simultaneously raised two residences, wonder if tRump will be pushed his new acting director allowed this to happen.
This is so sad as we watch so many in such positions of authority get charged. This administration will go down in history for number of Indictments and she’s still spinning lies..

  28. lucy2 says:

She’s not a lawyer…but maybe she should be hiring one.

  29. Kitten says:

The Orange Troll just tweeted. I don’t care for CNN but of all the “Fake News” outlets, it brings me great pleasure to know that they got video of the raid on Stone. Because you KNOW that’s just salt in the wound for Trump.

  30. Incredulous says:

Oh Sarah, you ain’t blonde enough to work at Fox News *tries to become a professional housewife and mother ™*, you know, like Goop but for the MAGAchuds.

  31. Fluffy Princess says:

Suck it, Sarah! Couldn’t happen to a nicer…creature.

  32. Themummy says:

I have a question for you guys. Is there any possibility that Sarah Sanders could be in trouble at any point due to any of this? Do you think she could be held liable for any of the stuff she says? It seems like she is safe no matter what, but she is clearly complicit. What do you think?

    • YankLynn says:

In the past White House lawyers/talking head supporters have pointed out its not not criminal for Trump, or his minions to lie to the media or the American people. So unless she lied to Mueller I suppose we have to rely on karma for this cadre of liars. She was however on staff in June/July 2016 a critical period identified in the indictment.

      • Themummy says:

Yanklynn, I figured as much. She is just so repugnant! I hope karma comes for her in some way at least.

  33. Call_Me_Al says:

Because this is a gossip site, can I say this?

Sarah, please put on some lipstick! Even a nice deep nude/blush colored gloss, you look horrible, sound horrible, are horrible.

    Sorry.

  34. Who ARE These People? says:

Here’s what she *really* said: “I’m going to have to smoke some weed, to be specific.”

  35. rrabbit says:

    Future headline:

Sarah Perjury-Birkenstock (*): The president’s arrest “doesn’t have anything to do with the president”

    (*) Fake Birkenstocks, of course.

  36. pottymouth pup says:

since when has anyone in the Huckabee family ever refrained from discussion about matters for which they don’t have the educational/professional expertise? She must know some actual truth about this which is why she’s finding excuses not to speak
