I love how my various dislikes/hatreds are so universally known that people often send me “tips” on sh-t that they know I’ll hate. Like, if Duchess Kate wears something particularly buttony, I get tweets and they are golden. So too with my bangs hatred – and to be clear, because I feel like I have to say this every time, not every “bangs” hairstyle is awful. Some women really do have the face to pull off certain kinds of bangs. I will never, EVER be a fan of baby-bangs, nor will I ever think those too-long, shaggy, thick bangs look good. But sure, in general, I judge on a case-by-case basis. Usually the best outcome is that bangs are a wash – they don’t make someone look better or worse, just different.
So it is with Kendall Jenner, who debuted her new bangsy hairstyle on Instagram this week. Kendall has done the long-hair, no-bangs, center-part look for years. But… she’s also been tweaking her face for years now, and I think the bangs are associated with that. As in, she went for a new hairstyle to mask some of the work she’s had done of her face, so that when people are like “she looks so different,” she can just say “it’s the bangs.” And whoa does she look different. The lip augmentation with this family needs to stop. Their lip guy is doing them a grave disservice. Kendall went from looking like the freshest, most natural Kardash-Jenner to looking like her mother’s plastic clone.
And yes, I hate these bangs. They look incredibly dated on her. She looked better without them.

She definitely looks like she’s trying to surgery herself into her older sister. I wish their mother was more supportive and loving so they didn’t feel this intense desire to alter themselves when they were all naturally pretty to begin with.
But can we not with melanin-challenged? I’m the colour of printer paper and I’ve been teased for it my whole life. I really don’t want to waste money staining my clothes by getting sprayed orange or risking a deadly cancer by tanning so it would be nice if people didn’t make me feel like my natural skin colour was something horrid.
I read an interesting article yesterday accusing Ariana Grande of being in “brown face” and I wonder why the Kardashians are not called out for this as well very often.
Pinetree- I refer to myself as melanin-challenged. You are unlikely to be paler than me….
The fact is that except for people with certain types of albinism, we all have melanin pigment in our skins and eyes. Some of us just produce more of it than others, both naturally and in response to sunlight. I’m the type that doesn’t tan too well, we just burn and get skin cancer. The sun has never been my friend.
Kendall’s natural coloring is in the pale category, but she is using makeup to make her look as though she has more natural melanin that she does. Her sister Kim has been doing this quite a bit also, and so it is worth noting.
Which is hilarious as she doesn’t even have the Armenian excuse. It’s so fake, all of it.

Agree, Redgrl. But the plastic surgery makes her look utterly bizarre and sad, like an older person clinging to their youth by way of the surgeon’s scalpel.
I know. As a woman in my 50’s, I find annoying that the go-to insult is to say someone looks 50. Thanks for saying I look awful.

I agree about the photo-shopping – it’s clip-on bangs with very heavy photo-shopping. And all of these people with the heavy surgery and make-up look way older than they are.
Beyond that – you can see the actual outline of her lips. She’s been REALLY heavy handed with the liner and lipstick to make them look MUCH bigger than they are. I suppose she learned it from Kylie. I suspect she got some fillers a while back, but the makeup is making it look so much wonkier.

Having been raised by a model from the 70s-80s…who took her craft VERY SERIOUSLY…and often took me to trunk shows as a wee lass…where I got to be surrounded by the most beautiful fabrics, intoxicating scents and the most bratty people that walked the earth…and bodies, lots and LOTS of naked bodies…men and women…which, was actually a GOOD thing in retrospect…which made me have an INTENSE love/hate/worship relationship with ALL THINGS FASHION since I was five years old…I have to say regarding Kendall et al…

I personally do not believe that getting bangs or changing your hair makes you look like a completely different person. I change my hair pretty much every week thought so there’s that lol.. I do, however, think she looks like a biracial/light skinned black woman… and not because of the bangs either.

I hope that’s a wig. Why do the bangs start at the crown of her head??? I’m normally a fan of bangs, and I’m not normally a fan of the severe center part/hair scraped back so hard it’s a facelift look, but these bangs aren’t it.

That’s a wig on her head, you can tell not just because it is, but look at the texture. I doubt seriously a model would ever cut bangs. But yes the color is natural! I hate she did what she did to her lips. She set herself apart by having a modeling career and being thin as opposed to buy a butt Kardashian/Jenner. That’s what I thought. I use clip in bangs all the time. I have learnt that having curly hair with two strong cows licks in the front does not allow for nice bangs especially in Brisbane summer heat. I regret it every time I ever get them so now I stick to clip ins.
