Duchess Meghan wears red Valentino for the Sussex arrival in Morocco

Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Morocco

Here are some photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arriving in Morocco on Saturday evening. This wasn’t technically the tarmac “exit” as soon as they got off the plane. They apparently flew commercial, and so there were no exiting-the-plane-waving photos. These photos are the Sussexes’ “arrival” pics at the royal palace. Meghan looked especially glamorous, I think – her red coat is Valentino. Red is a significant color in Morocco, and their flag is almost completely red, so this is a piece of “theme dressing” or perhaps just dressing for the host country. I like that her hair is pulled back in a neat (but not crazy-tight) bun. I don’t like the beige heels or the beige-and-white clutch with this though. There were so many purse or clutch options and she chose that??

Omid Scobie confirmed several items throughout the day – the entourage for the three-day trip includes two assistant private secretaries, 3 communications staffers, a “digital officer” (probably the person photographing Harry and Meg for the Kensington Royal social media), one assistant, one hairdresser and the program coordinator. Scobie also confirmed that “medical provisions have been made” for Meghan, in case something happens with her pregnancy, I would assume.

Meanwhile, did you hear this? Apparently, the Duchess of Sussex has put the Mail on Sunday on notice – she considering suing the Mail because they published copies of her letter to her father, the same letter that he sold to the Mail on Sunday to prove that… he’s a toxic douche or whatever. The Guardian reports that Meghan believes she has a case under copyright law because the Mail published the actual handwritten copy of the letter. Just more evidence that Meghan is a master strategist, honestly.

Someone take that bronzer away! She is gorgeous and it isnt needed.

    • Ira says:

I actually think she has done the right thing with her make up. Without bronzer she’s going to look pale.

      • minx says:

I don’t think she could ever look pale, her skin color is beautiful. But even so, a light dusting of bronzer is one thing—this is distracting.

      • Desolee says:

Don’t worry looking pale is totally acceptable in morroco. I think more than changing her skin tone she’s changing her face shape and distracting from freckles. But she looks ok, the shimmery bronzer is expected on her now
Love her dress, at least on her I love it. Cutest I’ve seen her

      • Beth says:

So what if she looks a little more pale without it? She’d still be beautiful. The way her too heavy bronzer is done looks incredibly noticeable that it’s fake, not natural . It might be more noticeable because of the lights and camera flashes, but by now they should’ve found a way to keep her makeup from looking so heavy and fake

      • minx says:

Beth, agree. We can’t be the only ones who see these pictures, doesn’t anyone notice? You have this beautiful woman wearing expensive clothes but this heavy-handed makeup cheapens her look.

      • isabelle says:

Pale? Even if she looked pale, which she doesn’t have the ability to even look pale, what is wrong with a light skin tone? Sick of the fake bronze look and sh*ty MU applications to a fake as* brown color which turns orange on pale skin. Cause you know its horrible to look pale.

      • LahdidahBaby says:

I don’t think the bronzer is to give her added color–I think it’s a mistaken attempt at contouring her slightly fuller pregnancy face—and I love her fuller face. I also think she looks gorgeous in red. A wonderful color and style for this late in a pregnancy. Love her hair pulled back with the bright, full dress below it.

      • Bella Bella says:

I’m guessing the heavy makeup is because of the camera flashes and how they wash people out.

      • Ader says:

LOL. This 100 percent reminds me of my mom (RIP). I am about Meghan’s complexion…and my mom would ALWAYS get on my case about “putting on some rouge, so you don’t look so pale!”

    • Milla says:

First thought: 90 percent royal. 10 percent bronzer.
I love the dress i know i will be in minority.

      • Prettykrazee says:

I guess I will join you there because I love this look. The color and the embroidery are gorgeous. I even like that she chose blush accessories instead of beige. I want that clutch!

Normally I don’t think her bronzer is a problem. Her bronzer helmet is really noticeable. Her highlight is drawing even more attention to it. It’s too much, too warm and not blended. She didn’t wear any today, so maybe this is her evening makeup?

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I like the cape portion and the general idea, I just feel like the lower portion is too voluminous. Too much fabric just swallows her up.

      • Truthiness says:

I love this dress too. I do think the bronzer is heavy but is this targeted for long distance shots? When you see stage make-up up close, it can be horrifying, but it seems to be needed for distance viewing. She doesn’t seem to lay it on heavy in regular life.

      • Mac says:

She is so pretty the bronzer and highlighting actually detract from her looks.

    • Sid says:

I’m starting to think that the bronzer looks fine in person but just photographs “heavy” depending on the lighting and angles. In some shots it looks like a lot, while in other shots it is barely noticeable. Sort of like how the setting powders some celebs use under their eyes will show up stark white under flash photography but you’d never notice it in person.

      • bonobochick says:

This is what I think too. Some shots, it looks fine and looks blended and other shots, it looks heavy. Could very well be the angle and flash making it look heavier than it is in some pics.

      • KidV says:

That’s what I think, too. The lady behind Meghan and Harry, her blush looks too heavy, and Harry’s ears are very red. I doubt any of that is noticeable in person.

      • Bella Bella says:

I really think it has to do with the cameras and flashes.

    • Sharon Lea says:

I wish she would cut back on the bronzer too and I love make-up.

    • manda says:

Hahahaha!! I usually agree but I think she did an ok job this time

    • Becks says:

That bronzer/blush looks like bruises on her cheeks, it’s too much. She really needs a make up artist!

    • mtam says:

Honestly i think it might be the lighting/ flash being used in these pics, cause on instagram i saw pictures of her at this event where it barely looked like she was wearing any makeup pn her cheeks. I think it really has something to do with the way she’s being photographed by certain people.

  2. Lulu says:

I love seeing her in color. Really suits her coloring. Unfortunately though, from a fashion POV I don’t like this dress at all. It’s an unflattering tent with a weird bib. Willing to give it a pass tho, given how pregnant she is at this point. There is no excuse however for her ongoing clownish bronzer situation.

Regardless, she’s an attractive person who outshines her styling choices and makes everything more exciting (unlike Kate) – even tho I’m opposed to the concept of paying attention to any of these people (the royal family) and am against the continuation of the monarchy in Britain.

I would be so interested to see where she takes her career, if she and Harry ever got divorced in the distant future. She’d be excellent in politics and would be unstoppable I believe. (Given her intelligence and obvious ability to make strategic connections).

  3. Annie. says:

The Fail is trash, but if she wants to sue someone, then she should sue her father.

I love her outfit! Red really suits her. My only quibble is Harry: they look as if they are going to different events. Also, his shoes should be burned

    • Bella DuPont says:

She’s neutralized her father to a large extent, since he’s shown himself to be a calculated, ruthless, money-hungry liar. Nobody will take his “I want to hear from my daughter!” cries seriously anymore.

The next step’s the tabloids. Top on the list, DM.

I wonder why she’s put them on notice though…..why not just sue straight away? Unless it’s like an amber sign…… ” one more serious attack from you and I’ll see you in court”.

Either way, brilliant moves, at last.

      • Mac says:

I hope she sues the pants off of them. Printing a private letter to her father was a low blow even for the Fail. On the plus side, I think it really did kill any sympathy anyone may have had for her father.

      • BeanieBean says:

Maybe it was a ‘cease and desist’ notification? Maybe you start with that?

    • PrincessK says:

DM is despicable. The organisation needs to be dealt with but they are very powerful, and spreading g their wings big time internationally. Someone needs to expose the inner workings of the editorial boardroom.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        @ Princess K

Ugh….that would be so amazing…..rip open the blinds and let some fresh air and sunlight flood in…..because the place is jam packed with cockroaches and vampires, the whole thing would probably come crashing down. Like the News of the World.

    • MrsBanjo says:

How would suing her father actually be enforced? She has a valid complaint under copyright law. If she were to sue her father instead of the publication, then they’d have more fuel for their horrible campaign against her. “Duchess sues father she ghosted.” Suing the publication who actually violated copyright is the better option.

    • BeanieBean says:

No, you always go for the deeper pockets.

  4. Chef Grace says:

Let me be an old grouch but I don’t like that maternity dress at all. First outfit of hers I don’t like. That collar thing maybe. The color is good. Dress is fugly.
I hope she sues the fail. If she were to sue her dad OMG him and that awful other daughter would have fodder for a year.

    • minx says:

I wonder what it looks like without the collar/cape thing. Gives her a boxy look on top, which nobody wants. And smh at the shoe/purse color. I do love her hair, love that she pulled it back with a side part, looks more chic than a center part.

    • Spicecake38 says:

Came here to say it’s the embroidery situation that I don’t like,if it were not there maybe the dress wouldn’t look so big,but instead look drapey/flowy -it’s like that top part is holding the dress in a tent like way over her.
She’s really pretty though, and I love the color on her.
And no,don’t sue your father Meghan,he and Sam will love it,and she needs no more stress before delivering polo baby.

  5. Bella DuPont says:

    She’s consistently fighting back now:

Forcing her fathers hand in selling the letter also ousted him for the liar he is

Rewarding stateside media for their supportive, less hostile coverage with a higher level of access than normal at her baby shower, while simultaneously locking out the UK tabloids

And then putting the DM on notice……

Since it’s become clear that nothing, (not even advanced stage pregnancy) will stop their attacks, she’s left with no choice but to start counter punching.

    I’m here for it.

    • sunny says:

I agree! Glad she is making moves

      • Jumpingthesnark says:

I agree, I’m loving Meghan’s PR power moves. This is how it is really done. Anyone imagining Poor Jason holed up at KP furtively taking notes?

    • PrincessK says:

The lavish baby shower was more about her friends signalling that they have her back than the actual baby shower. Also Beyonce coming out was all part of the counter strike, masterminded by Serena Williams.

      • Bella DuPont says:

Yup. After all, we didn’t hear a peep about her hen party. We don’t know who attended, where it was or even precisely when it was. The publicity around this this was deliberate (in my view), and part of a counter offensive all round.

    • burdzeyeview says:

Yes, I agree, she’s played them (the tabloids) perfectly and neutralised the father. Nice one Meg.

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

I love this whole look and they both look soo happy.

I hope she does sue the MoS, its the closest she’s going to get to suing Evil Papa Smurf – successfully suing the paps means that they will be less inclined to publish anything by the toxic evil duo. She has a strategy in dealing with the Markles and its starting to be played out.

    • Olenna says:

      Everything you said, +1.

    • Jaded says:

Yup…she’s good at the long game. Lest we forget she’s come from an industry that is known for manipulative, underhanded tactics and she seems to have handled it extremely well.

    • BeanieBean says:

I loved everything about her look, as well. You can’t beat Valentino red. And that cape-let thing looks removable, so she can re-wear that dress or re-work it for non-pregnancy. I thought her accessories were spot on. And Harry wore nice neutrals to complement; check out that tie! Totally the same color family as her shoes, gloves, & clutch.

  7. tempest prognosticator says:

She looks gorgeous in that color. I like the dress on her. I do think she goes overboard on the bronzer and the shiny stuff, but it’s a just a quibble.

  8. liriel says:

The silhouette is not flattering though. The designer – high fashion again, oh well..

    • ArtHistorian says:

Overall the silhouette is not flattering, probably because of her advanced pregnancy. It makes the garment a bit tent-like. I do like the shoulder feature, which is stylistic feature she’s used in the past. It is also the only part of the garment that reveals that it is Valentino because it incorporates an ornamental pattern from a previous couture collection. The colour is great on her.

I love Valentino’s designs. But I have to question her judgment on using tax payer money on couture, especially in such a late stage in her pregnancy. This is one very very expensive garment – and the likely hood of her wearing it again is very low.

      • Ira says:

Didn’t Kate also wear bespoke/couture dress in her late stage of pregnancy? Also aren’t these dress paid by Prince Charles’s income from duchy of Cornwall?
This is actually one of my favorite dress of hers. I hope she will wear this look more often.

      • Jennifer says:

Clothes for tours are paid for by the FCO – the taxpayers. Clothes for UK work paid for by Duchy of Cornwall.

      • entine says:

It’s an official visit to a fellow kingdom, it also is the first visit, a welcoming ceremony. Of course she should wear zara or hm, right?
I actually think that doing that it would offend the hosts.

      • ArtHistorian says:

I’ve been pretty outspoken when it comes to Kate using obscene amounts of money on similar-looking clothes that she’ll only wear once. I just hold the two women to the same standard.

@entine. That is a straw-man argument! Just because I consider spending tens of thousands of pounds on a couture garment that most likely will never been worn again (because she in such an advanced state of her pregnancy) doesn’t mean I’m advocating her turning up in cheap high-street clothes. There are plenty of high-end brands that are lovely but not as eye-wateringly expensive as couture. Please don’t argue in bad faith.

      • entine says:

OK, let’s look at people in her similar situation. What do they wear? more particularly, what do they wear to night arrivals or dinners with foreign dignitaries or formal visits to other monarchies or alley countries? I really don’t have time to do research right now on other royal families or what did kate and william have done, but let me suspect it is not at all different.
Singling her out is what makes me disagree. Why her only?

      • ArtHistorian says:

        @entine

This post is about what Meghan wore! I rarely comment here anymore – but I’ve discussed Kate’s wasteful spending habits in the past. Why is it that people cannot mildly criticize Meghan without criticizing Kate or other royal ladies in the same breath but that will bring out other people who’ll cry that these ladies are not part of the subject of the post – you literally cannot win on this site…

I’m not singling Meghan out – the post is LITERALLY about what she wore!!!! And I really don’t like your insinuation that I have a hidden motive here. Once again, please argue in good faith.

Most royals wear nice clothes, sometimes even bespoke outfits but very rarely do they wear eye-wateringly expensive high couture. Kate did in Paris – and I certainly disapproved of her spending nearly £80.000 on clothes for a two-day visit. Spending tens of thousands of pounds on a garment that she won’t really be able to wear (unless she has a second pregnancy) IS wasteful, especially in the current political climate in the UK – the expenses for official foreign visits (including clothes) is picked up by the British tax payers. It is about optics and Kate hasn’t been exempt from criticism in this regard. Sophie should be criticized as well because she spends like crazy too, but she mainly flies under the radar because there isn’t as much interest in her as there are in Kate and Meghan.

Haute Couture and High Street fashion aren’t the only two options. There are a lot of brands between these two extremes. Some royal ladies even have outfits made by their own tailors (Queen Margrethe II) so that they can’t be priced, which is a really smart solution these days where outfits and pieces can be sourced and priced really quickly. The only other royal lady I can think of who wears haute couture regularly is Sheika Mozha of Qatar but she doesn’t rely on tax payer money and the Qatari RF actually owns several couture houses.

      • Whatabout says:

@arthistorian I had the same thoughts about Kate buying couture pieces for late stage pregnancy. Couture from Valentino is probably 20-40k same with Kates, McQueen clothes that she has never worn again.

      • ArtHistorian says:

@whatabout Yep. It is about being both practical and prudent when spending tax payer money.

      • entine says:

        I agree, @whatabout
I got a bit of time and did a quick search for yes, pregnant Kate’s mcqueen outfits and … I hardly found any articles that mentioned the cost of her frocks, they were mostly saying how fabulous is her style, but there was one from ugh dailymail and a grecian style mcqueen from when she was heavily pregnant on tour, and:
-they mentioned upfront the price of a cheaper asos dress,
-of the expensive items, in the article they mentioned the cost of an alpaca fur hat
        – in a sort of excerpt, there was a pic of meghan in a black suit and they mentioned the cost of every single item, along with only one mention of the *possible* cost of the mcqueen dress that was maybe around 8000 pounds.
reading an article of kate’s best mcqueen moments, hey, no costs, checking another article of her maternity style, uh, no costs either.
I think nah if people are going to mention a particular royal being extravagant or wasteful using couture when pregnant, then mention how other royals do it too.
On a bigger note, some people like Piers Morgan compared her to Marie Antoinette, disregarding other royals buying and using couture or being wasteful in other ways (costume parties, traveling abroad for frequent exclusive holidays, etc).
Anyway, last comment here art historian. It is the bulk of double standard comments that irks me, criticising this one person when there are many that do just the same thing. Saying that the post is about her does not justify criticism in my eyes. have a nice day or evening wherever you are.

      • BeanieBean says:

I disagree. That dress is basically a blank slate & a good tailor can absolutely re-work it into something else.

      • ArtHistorian says:

        @entine

Well, that is on the press covering Meghan. That has nothing to do with me – I’m not the press.

The subject of the post was Meghan and I think that she could be more practical and more prudent in her spending. I’m entitled to my opinion here – and if I’ll criticize one royal woman for wasteful spending, I’ll criticize another royal woman for the same – even though I like Meghan better than Kate.

I am one person expressing an opinion on a subject about Meghan’s clothing. Trying to invalidate my opinion because the press is hard on Meghan is just BS. And that is the last I’ll say on this subject.

      • Ira says:

Megan could wear M&S and still being criticized. I think she’s better just true to her style. If Valentino is the only fashion house that can make a beautiful dress for her in her late stage pregnancy, why not? This dress is so far my favorite looks on her and that Calvin Klein white dress is my least favorite. I think people should appreciate that she’s not slowing down. Does any of you remember Kate had this kind of grueling schedule in her last month of pregnancy, let alone overseas tour?

      • Vio says:

@ira Kate did a mini tour in Sweden,Norway at the same stage of pregnancy last year. Also, bespoke Valentino, bespoke Dior, new purses and shoes in colors that she already has, yes,it’s a bit too much for two days.

      • Elisa says:

@ArtHistorian: very well said, please continue to post.

      • Princessk says:

I think l have said this before, the royals have various budgets to spend on clothing and well if it doesn’t get spent during the budgeting period we know what happens to budgets. Not only would someone be left with egg on their face for incorrect budgeting, prices change and engagement types and workloads change, it all has to be covered. Stop worrying about the cost of clothing, it’s a drop in the ocean and royalty do so much for the fashion industry, her clothes will be copied into cheaper versions and people will be encouraged to search for similar styles.

    • Betsy says:

It does make her look a bit thick, but she is in her third trimester and you’re supposed to look thick! (And yes I know some women don’t get thick even at the end, most of us do)

  9. Britt says:

I hope she does sue the mail because they have been the ones that have been pushing this smear campaign the most and are doing the most with this baby shower. People in the press are still talking about it like it’s not getting enough uproar. Getting people like Paul Burrell to spew dramatic statements. It’s getting the opposite reaction because it wasn’t taxpayer money. I’m just glad Meghan is standing up for herself because that never explain and complain ideology works on some occasions but it’s not helping matters.

    • Sharon Lea says:

I hope she goes forward with the suit against the DM too. Ugh, seeing Paul Burrell stick his nose in this all over again, why won’t he just go away? I understand more when Patrick Jephson weighs in as he was her private secretary for Diana for 8 years. He has a more balanced understanding of the what is expected of royals.

  10. bread says:

Love the colour on her but I will never be into those short capes. Think the bronzer/blush/highlighter may be amplified by the fact that she’s basically only being lighted by the photographer’s flash in a dark airfield, makes most makeup look garish.

I don’t get the gloves, though. This is like the third time where carrying a pair of unnecessary gloves is part of her outfit, right? Feels a bit like 1950s lady-who-lunches cosplay.

    • notasugarhere says:

The Queen and Princess Anne wear gloves every day for engagements. Maxima and Mary are also frequent glove wearers. You’ll find many pictures of the two of them wearing or carrying gloves even for daytime events.

      • bread says:

Well, if they’re *wearing* the gloves then the gloves are necessary, aren’t they?

I’ve only ever seen Meghan carrying a pair around with her; they’re never actually on her hands.

      • windyriver says:

Possibly she wears them, then takes them off.

I’m assuming carrying them is still part of proper etiquette, or the tabloids would have alerted us that she was tacky and violating protocol.

      • notasugarhere says:

In some countries, keeping your glove on to shake hands is considered offensive. Sometimes they are wearing the gloves, take one off to shake hands, and carry that glove in their gloved left hand. Other times they’re carrying both gloves in the same hand with their clutch.

    • Jaded says:

She’s in the late stage of her pregnancy, maybe the gloves are a way of not tempting fate by catching a cold or flu bug because of all the hand-shaking she has to do.

  11. Nev says:

Valentino to me had the best Haute Couture show this season. So lovely. She looks amazing in this dress. Yes Duchess.

  12. Becks1 says:

Apparently I’m in the minority because I love this look. The only thing I don’t love is the clutch. The dress has a retro maternity vibe to me, and I love the detailing on the cape around the shoulders. I think her makeup looks great and she looks poised and collected.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Imagine that clutch in a rich cognac with the red trim, and a pair of rich cognac suede pumps. Mhmm, yes ma’am.

  13. Mstak says:

Interestingly enough this is one of her best looks to me. I’m some photos I saw online the makeup is too much but in others it’s fine.

As someone hugely pregnant at the moment, this style would appeal if I had the money 😂😂

  14. Nievie says:

as a Brit- and from a very rising opinion amongst young people here- that we do not need a royal family or want to continue funding them with our taxes…Meghan might just be the saviour the Queen needs.
We are done with people like Kate who even though isn’t aristocracy, may well as be due to her simplistic work ethic. Meghan is someone who from the get go is earning the money the royal family gather from tax payers. I hope she flourishes, because with regards to William and Kate- there is a million person collective side eye at them right now.

    • Britt says:

I’m not a Brit but I was shocked that the tabloids made it seem like being a hard worker and wanting to utilize her privilege to do good was a bad thing. Ingrid Seward basically said on air that Kate didn’t have to do speeches etc because she’s future Queen. I don’t think the reporters are making Kate look even worse.

      • Ira says:

She maybe will never be a Queen. I can see RF ends after the Queen dies. Meghan will be back to US with or without Harry and start a career in politics. I’m not sure she wants to back to his acting job, but she will remain close with the A-list circle.

      • Beli says:

I think Charles will be King for a time, because even though I think there will be a lot more republican sentiment after The Queen goes, it’s still going to take a bit of time to manifest. Most of the country respects and likes The Queen and the end of the monarchy will barely be discussed until a while after she’s gone. Whether Charles will see out the end of his reign and whether William will make it to the throne is another question.

      • Natalie S says:

That’s the monarchy in a nutshell, though. You don’t have to actually be good at the job because it’s not a meritocracy. We’re just supposed to pretend that they’re all amazing because they have titles.

    • Gemma says:

@Nievie, you don’t sound very much like “a Brit”. Just saying…

      • Lady D says:

Really? She sounded like a Brit to me.

      • Tina says:

She sounds fine to me. I disagree that anything is going to happen with the royals, though. There’s always a higher percentage of republicans amongst young people, and they become more conservative (and royalist) as they age.

      • Nievie says:

        ok…..how does a British person sound..feel free to elaborate…

      • Bohemian Angel says:

@Gemma, why doesn’t Nievie sound British?
I’m British and I can tell you now that my daughter and most of her friends feel exactly the same way as Nievie. They really don’t care for the royal family.

      • Jaded says:

Gemma, where are you from? British accents can’t be “heard” via typed word. She could be a Brit, Irish, Scottish, Canadian, American, anything. She simply sounds articulate and well-spoken.

      • Tina says:

I mean, sometimes you can tell, usually due to spelling (honour/honor, etc) or phrasing that would be unusual in the UK. But none of those were displayed in OP’s comment.

    • Ellen Olenska says:

My evil suspicion is that Kate is doubling down on outreach to very young children in the hopes that by the time William is ready to ascend to the throne those kids will be grown and have fond memories of meeting a princess that may blunt their desires to eliminate perks for the BRF…yes, I’m that cynical…

      • BeanieBean says:

        Interesting tin foil hat theory.

      • Elisa says:

that’s no cynical, that’s playing the long game… I like this theory!

      • Ellen Olenska says:

We’ve got a multi bankruptcy filer as the US president at the moment with tons of people who voted for him because he knows how to “make money” and “work the tax system”. I’m having my tinfoil hat bronzed… 😉

  15. Montrealaise says:

I love the dress – the colour is wonderful on her, and I even like the silhouette, since she is heavily pregnant. it has to be the most glamorous maternity dress I’ve ever seen.

  16. Weaver says:

I think Mod styles look great on pregnant women because they are streamlined and not fussy. Red is definitely Meghan’s color.

  17. DML says:

love it. She went classic with the dress and on trend with the shoes and clutch (which i love) . Here for all of it. She looks regal.

  18. tuille says:

I like this dress. Capelets are in style now & this avoids the need for a coat. Trapeze is a very flattering shape for maternity dresses & has been seen for non-maternity styling as well. It’s great for thin women, which Meg is except for her tummy.
This is much more stylish & dignified than a bump-clinger with a bulging belly button. I get that some women like constantly showing off their fecundity with snug knits but that should be strictly in casual settings, which this is not.
Color is good on her & I agree with others that shimmery highlighter & lots of bronzer look ott. She must like this makeup look since she’s had years of professional experience with it. Does it look more natural in real life? Maybe photo lighting accentuates the contrasts?

  19. Maggie says:

This is very Jackie O. I like it a lot.

  20. Maria says:

    Love the dress. Love Valentino.

  21. Sharon Lea says:

I like Meghan, but I do feel she is trying to carry the purse to show it is a Valentino. And why not fold the gloves and put them in, the mostly empty, purse?

    • Ira says:

The “V” logo is huge and on both sides. How do you expect Meghan should hide it? Do you imply that she’s marching?
      Too much criticism over nothing.

      • Sharon Lea says:

She is trying to show the red tassel part, whatever that is called, why not use an easier purse? And the gloves…still doesn’t make sense.

  22. Charfromdarock says:

I like the overall look. Let’s face it, she’s gorgeous no matter what she wears.

Harry on the other hand looked underdressed with that colour suit. He should have worn a richer/deeper colour.

  23. Miriam says:

Actually accepted way of greeting royals inMorocco is not the same as in the U.K.

As far as I know, No bowing, curtseying or grovelling is required, but do not be forward. Allow the hosting royalty to first offer their hand. Do not be the first to release a handshake (if they hold you in very high regard, this can get embarrassing as neither lets go). Address by title and first name. Do not ask about their family, but show interest in a general way .

I am sure the couple would have been informed on the do s and don’t s ahead of time and they do seem to be trying to be careful

The Moroccans don’t seem to be upset by the way it all went…..so….

  24. Sparkly says:

    Yes, please sue them.

  25. Malachite says:

Uh….I think I see Prince Harry’s junk quite visibly outlined in the first photo. Anyone else, or has my sexual drought just slid into emergency territory?

    • Nancy says:

Everyone is so fixated on her, they ignore him. He is rather sloppy to me. He is wearing three shades of gray, suit, shoes and tie, none of which compliment each other. The jacket is ill fitting, as are the pants which explain you seeing his private parts. I would think he would try harder in his position, if only to compliment her. I mentioned above and the comment was lost, that her dress is pretty, her style, anyway, but the full face bronzer will never be ok. I don’t think it will ever change, since this seems to be her go to makeup look.

      • Jaded says:

He looks fine to me and not the least bit sloppy. The grey colour palette is on point, grey is the “in” colour right now. Flash cameras change make-up to look quite different than it does in person, that is a fact. They both look good and perfectly in tune for their arrival.

      • Teel says:

This! Thank you! No one ever seems to call out Harry. The suits are usually OK, but he always wears those awful suede type shoes. The ones he has on in these photos looks like they have blue shoelaces, but I guess they’re dark grey. Also not loving the sock colour choice.

      • Nancy says:

The shoes look like well worn hush puppies!! The tie clashes with the suit. Maybe he’s color blind, a lot of men are….but he’s not some kid going to prom. When in doubt, wear a black tie, at least he’d dress it up a bit.

  26. Loretta says:

She’s stunning and the red Valentino is special.

  27. mysteryjinx says:

she looks like a walking Christmas box.

  28. aquarius64 says:

KP and the Fail are in talks about the lawsuit now. I noticed the rag did not claim it stands about its actions. I think DM’s lawyers told them they stepped in this time.

    • They were foaming at the mouth to run and publish that “hand written letter.” The trash at the DM seem so obsessed, and enraged about Meghan’s mere existence that I’m sure they never thought twice about whether what they were doing might be crossing a legal line. The arrogance that rag shows is fascinating to me, especially in light of what happened with the News of the World. It would not surprise me if the DM were up to similar things.

It would be great to see a few of those tabs shut down, as too many people now seem to conflate the tabloid press with the legitimate British press. That’s really unfair, and just plain untrue. I have a subscription to the Guardian and they have some amazing reporters there. I mean, I would hate for the world to look at the US and think that the Enquirer, and Star magazine represent what most US citizens think.

  29. Valiantly Varnished says:

For everyone constantly freaking out about her highlighter and bronzer. It’s the CAMERAS. Bronze and highlighter will always looks darker/brighter under flash photography. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

  30. entine says:

She is in an absolutely amazing couture gown for an evening reception. Well , heads will explode.

  31. BeanieBean says:

Is Harry cupping his belly? How dare he?

  32. geekychick says:

I’m in Morocco right now. If I haven’t opened cb or my country’s news site, I wouldn’t even know about this visit. It seems Moroccan people don’t really care. No one is talking about it in the streets, coffee shops or squares (in Morocco, life is happening on the streets and squares, like in Roman times:).

  33. JadedBrit says:

She looks absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Luminous; lambent. The affection between the two of them is palpable: a beautiful thing. And a delight to witness, given that the press have been doing their damndest to destroy their marriage.
You know, sometimes I want to say to the bile-filled spittle-flecked commentators on the Heil, Express etc that – come on. I’m sure you’re better than this in everyday life. I’m sure you’re not unintelligent. That you try to help others. To be kind to your friends, supportive to those family members that deserve it, respectful of others’ needs, space, privacy, dignity. That you possess more nous than to allow those with a miserabilist axe to grind to trigger and manipulate you into being the worst version of yourself. But I can’t, in all conscience, allow myself to fall into such naivete any longer. As a nation, I had thought that we were better than this. More inclusive, tolerant, diverse, open minded. It’s humbling, and almost physically hurtful – certainly mentally and emotionally – to discover that Middle England is, in many cases, the nadir of prejudice. There is no other way, I think, to spin “woman’s dear friends want to make her feel special before she goes into labour by pushing out the boat to give her a fabulous week” (a series of gestures that would make us all weep with gratitude, perhaps, were we to receive such lovely generosity) to ‘Marie Antoinette’ complete with the grossest and most actionable slurs and slanders. And that is just the press. I don’t know how we can get through to such sorts. But this sort of propaganda is the slippery slope to acts of absolute inhumanity. This treatment of a pregnant woman epitomises inhumanity. I only hope she continues to rise above it all, but it must be so very wearying.
I wasn’t going to comment again following the James M. debacle, but your responses, your thoughtfulness and genuine decency reminded me what a stellar bunch you CBers are. You remind me that there are decent, honest, intelligent kind people in a world hell bent on showing its worst side. Thank heavens for all of you.

  34. liriel says:

Actually when I think about hate – wasn’t Camilla like the most HATED HATED HATED person? We forgot about her because people got used to her (and she’s mostly avoid the spotlight) after maaaany years!

    • Elisa says:

Yes, she absolutely was. I’m still impressed how she handled it, the way she was treated by the press AND public was by far the worst of all the RF.

    • Mia says:

Oh yes, I remember those days. Wonder if she’ll become hated again when she becomes Queen. I say this because some just won’t let the past go.

  35. Vio says:

I’m not sure the little cape goes with those sleeves’ lenght but on the whole I like this look, mostly for the color that is really great on her.

  36. MeghanNotMarkle says:

I want to love this look but all I see is an overpriced muumuu. And Harry seems to have dressed for a totally different event. Again.

  37. Chloe says:

It may have been mentioned, but her shoes, gloves and clutch are blush pink, not beige.
