People who can wear lots of jewelry while working out are INSANE to me. I could never wear any kind of rings or earrings to the gym. Jennifer Lopez doesn’t feel the same way – on Friday, she was seen exiting a Miami gym with Alex Rodriquez, after a workout where she wore her gigantic new engagement ring (and big hoop earrings, I can’t). I also can’t believe her body at this point – she’s 49 years old! She’s going to be 50 in July! My ass has never looked that good, not even when I was 18. Anyway, I’m talking about these photos because Page Six did a weirdly exhaustive story about The Love Story of J-Rod and what they’re really like as a couple, and the piece has tons of quotes from a “J-Rod friend” and “sources close to A-Rod.” Some highlights:
Don’t mess around on J.Lo: When Alex Rodriguez first started dating Jennifer Lopez, a longtime friend told him: “Whatever you do, you cannot mess her around.” The A-Rod friend explained to The Post, “I said, ‘This lady is like American royalty. Whatever happens, you cannot treat her badly. If you split up for any reason, she has to be the one to dump your ass!’ It’s a lot of pressure on someone to date Jennifer Lopez! But they both fell in love.”
Alex planned his proposal in secret: According to friends, Rodriguez, 43, told no one of his plans to propose, searching for the perfect ring for several months and dealing with a jewelry designer abroad in secret.
Jennifer follows him to work: “They’re so respectful to each other,” said a source who has worked with Rodriguez. “When Alex is working for ESPN [calling baseball games], Jennifer goes … and sits quietly in the booth because she likes to watch him. They have that kind of relationship. Likewise, when she was doing her [concert residency] in Vegas, he would fly in. He was at almost every show. The support level is incredible.”
On Jose Canseco’s accusations of Alex’s infidelity: “When you get engaged and that night you have some maniac tweeting that crap, that’s got to be hard to deal with,” said a Rodriguez insider. “But Alex and Jennifer are strong enough to understand who they are. People have tried to knock them down, but you can’t fake love.”
They’re both grateful their relationship happened in their 40s: “Both of them fully admit that if they’d [gotten together] 10 years ago, it just wouldn’t have worked,” said the longtime A-Rod friend. “They were just different people back then.”
A-Rod doesn’t want to be the alpha?? “Alex has always had very stunning, very famous girlfriends,” said a friend of the couple. “He’s not one of those guys who has to be the alpha — he doesn’t want to be the most famous guy in the room…. Jennifer always has security wherever she goes — she has to. Arguably, she’s way more famous than Alex. If you dropped him in the middle of London, people wouldn’t really know him! They know him now for being with Jennifer.”
Let’s nip this in the bud right now: Alex absolutely wants to be the most famous guy in the room. He absolutely HAS to be the alpha. Tons of alpha men love to date or marry extremely famous women too, because they get off on feeling like they’re equally famous, and because they know the women’s fame will make them extra famous. The fact that Alex’s dating history is littered with famous women actually proves that he’s an alpha. Plus, there’s the disturbing trend of “alpha men” wanting to be with beautiful, famous, accomplished women and getting those women to act like doormats, or to get those women to give up their careers, etc. But all these sources are right about one thing: Alex and Jennifer won’t break up until SHE is done. He can’t screw around and self-sabotage and hope that Jennifer will dump him. She won’t. She’ll stick around forever (or until she gets tired of him or finds someone else).

He definitely has a type and there’s something he’s doing as an alpha: encouraging (making?) his partners get super visibly jacked. Every single last one of the women he dates ends up with super muscular upper bodies while with him! JLo has always had a gorgeous body but the muscular arms are new and, IMO, an ARod thing.
Both Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz got boob jobs when they were with him. Both also became crazy muscular. My point? If I see JLo suddenly running around with big boobs I will scream!
Honestly that’s the only real reason why I’m inclined to believe the Jessica Canseco rumor. She started looking super muscular in the upper body. lol

My question…why in the h*** would they have to go to the gym when they could very well afford state of the art equipment in their OWN home? They are only “going to the gym” to do a pap stroll so that JLo can show off of that obnoxious looking ring of hers as well as her body. These two are so “extra” it’s nauseating.
exactly. it’s about the attention they generate as a couple. individually, they’re a big ‘meh’… he’s a former jock who’d be on the selling his autograph; and she’s an entertainer known more for her work ethic (no shame there) than her actual talent. there’s no way she’d need security to go out among the poors; she could easily dress in sweats with her hair down and wearing the $20 shades .. instead of the skintight leggings and $1000 shades. everything she does is to draw attention to herself.

They can’t be photographed walking from their bedroom to the workout room. Celebs do this to be seen and to create an image of them being “healthy”. They have gyms in their homes. Gyms with much more expensive equipment that isn’t used by random strangers.

Personally I prefer exercising in classes. My best workouts come when I feel camaraderie and competition with the other people around me. I wouldn’t be working as hard if it was just me, my boyfriend and a trainer at home.

The Gossip media is in need of the Next Big Celeb Couple. They have been together for some years. The public fascination and hunger haven’t really caught on. If it didn’t by now it won’t. They will not be the next obsession.

I can’t work out in jewelry either. I usually go home from work and change to go to the gym and one the first things I do is remove my earrings, necklace, and rings I have on. I see women at the gym with bracelets and rings on every finger and I cannot imagine how that is comfortable.

I’ve played soccer and softball against women who wear their huge diamond rings. Never understood why.
I might be able to do some workout with big earrings on but I never can do anything while wearing rings. When you lift something they pinch your fingers, the heavier the more painful it is. I don’t know if it’s a Latina thing (I’m Mexican) In Mexico most women wear jewelry and makeup to the gym. I don’t get it.
I recently got engaged and I’m so scared to leave my ring around and lose it that I’ve been wearing it all the time, including at night and when I go to the gym. It gets a but uncomfortable when I lift weights, and of course the fingers tend to swell while working out. But I prefer this than risking to leave it somewhere. Sometimes I go to the gym straight from work and I don’t have time to go back home, leave the ring there and go back again. I also would never leave it in the locker room, even with a strong padlock there’s always a risk of a break-in..
Of course I’m no Jennifer Lopez, I’m sure she would get an assistant or someone to keep it safe for her while she’s working out. I imagine she also has the best security at home and when going out and about. As someone else has noticed, the only reason for them to go to a public gym is pap strolls.

Dave Neihaus called Alex Rodriguez, “A-Rod” early in his career in the late 90’s I don’t think Neihaus knew who Jenny from the block was when she started using the nickname in 2001.

I’ve seen A-Rod in person. I was staying at a hotel next door to a stadium that was hosting a major sporting event (not baseball). In the brightly lit, buffet-style hotel cafeteria, I’m walking my plate of breakfast back to my table when Alex entered the room. He was dressed to a T in a black suit and black tee-shirt. He had a huge smile on his face and his teeth were SO GLEAMING WHITE it was blinding. Impossible not to notice. It took me a minute to realize who it was since I’m not as familiar with athletes, but wow. He is handsome, tall and jacked. He glided by, people turned and stared, he said hi to a few people as he went. He was soaking up the attention. You could tell he loved it. I guess I would do the same thing if that was me!
Yeah, I’ve never questioned what the ladies see in him, but you’d wanna watch your heart around this dude.
He’s beautiful in pictures, so, yeah, I imagine he’s even better in person.
A-Rod gets a pass from me because my nephew could be a younger version. He often gets that, “ has anyone told you” comment. Yes, my nephew is gorgeous, very athletic he plays ball and golf but is more focused on hockey. I think he’s a prettier thinner version, I’d like to say more humble, but since he’s been told all his life that he’s a massive babe, he’s a cocky young man..but lately a beautiful petite young woman has been making him pay more attention to his future. Sometimes letting someone into your life changes everything, maybe it’s the real thing for A-Rod and J-lo..who knows but they seem well matched in terms of money, ambition, family and damn they make a beautiful looking couple.

I don’t understand working out with jewelry. My rings hurts my hands when I lift weights and they are nowhere near the size of her ring. I just bought one of those silicone wedding bands for me to wear at the gym and my husband to wear while working with tools.

My butt would look like that too at 50 if I had a nanny, a chef, a personal trainer, and never had an eight hour day.
She was a bit chunky in her early fly girl days. I think she and Jennifer Aniston (also a bit chunky in the early 80’s) She was a nutri system girl. Knowing they are not classically beautiful (but in no way ugly). Worked damn hard to get their bodies flawless. Bravo while I am sitting on the couch in with my very un-flawless body.

I don’t think either of them takes marriage very seriously. Kaiser you are spot on once again. Alpha men love celebrity women because it boosts their egos even more – they think they’re super-heroes. Alpha men often have fragile egos that need constant shoring up and what better way to do it than through an equally famous woman. But it’s always a danger that they’ll jump ship if said famous woman eclipses their ego.

It’s all for show. My partner used to work at Disney with her nanny’s mother. She doesn’t interact with her kids unless there are cameras around. She has a team of trainers and plastic surgeons on call. And she treats her employees like trash. I know back when she was giving interviews about how hands on she was with her family she hadn’t seen them in months and one of the caretakers got fired because the little girl called her Mommy

She is a diva (duh). I worked in hospitality at Rammstein Air Force Base when she came through there to do a USO tour thing. Her demands were legendary. tons of celebrities came through to do uso stuff and none of them made an impression quite like JLo. Jessica Simpson and Nick lachey stayed at the same hotel (this was 2004 for 2005, at the peak of their fame), so did Chelsea Clinton and Hillary Clinton. never heard a bad word about any other guests at that hotel, because they were there to do a nice thing and get a little publicity on the side. There’s a suite for 4-star generals they keep tucked away for VIPs. I stayed there on my wedding night and it’s very nice. Wasn’t good enough for JLo because it’s not all white!

I always have to have earrings on even at the gym. But no rings at the gym but she is JLo she fancy. I think if she wasn’t so open about her and ARod 24-7 then she wouldn’t get the backlash.
