I saw Us… I had so many questions! Am I a sandwich short of a picnic or was that the whole point?

My friend and I came out far more confused than we’d expected. Got home and basically went to reddit for answers and theories about the film. I won’t say any don’t wanna ruin the film for anyone. On another note the cinematography is amazing and same w the music. Overall great film just made me feel stupid lol

      • Louisa says:

Same. I came out a little deflated wondering did I just not enjoy it, or did I just not get it! Fantastic performances though.

      • BorderMollie says:

At first I felt confused, but after talking it out with my family, we came to see it as a giant metaphor for classism and apartheid.

    • Megan says:

I want to see it, but it looks sooooo scary. Get Out was about my level of scary.

    • JANAK says:

After seeing US, I think the “answers” to Jordan Peele’s movies are all in the first 15 minutes…I personally didn’t enjoy it as much as Get Out.

    Us was great.

  3. Aang says:

Didn’t love it. A movie that needs that much expository dialogue to explain itself did something wrong. Like a James Bond villain laying out his plot. And it just wasn’t that scary in the 2nd half.

Love Lupita in that Balmain. Power forever to Olivier.

  5. InVain says:

Mark Strong can hit it all day long. That man…

Hello My Darlings! I have subscribed & rated (*****) on itunes…I am your twitter friend Kimberly D…Adore your podcast, the silly and easy joie de vie you both exude is a balm to my trump-troubled heart! I scream in laughter at some of the comments/threads and especially like when you take the piss out of Lena and Sean Penn (esp..his “book” & the reviews) LOL I agree with you on all things political, but we diverge on some entertainment items…I hope you still like me when I say I am team Brad and loved Django Unchained, but wanted to throw tomatoes at the screen during 12 Years a Slave. I worship (STRAIGHT) Sam Heughan as much as Kaiser loves Juan, as he helped divert my rattled brain after the fall of America almost 3 yrs ago. Here’s a tip, Charlize is the female Sean Penn…nasty nasty, mean & cruel…I don’t wish her on Mr. Pitt. Hope you can forgive me. xoxo

“…X is the rare X who could get it from me…” is going STRAIGHT into my rotation. I just lurrrrrrve you, Kaiser!

Do horror movies win Oscars? Lupita deserves every award possible. This film is amazing in every way but she carries it and then some. I’m obsessed about it. My whole family is. Deep, thought provoking. Bonus: TIM HEIDECKER!

    Overhyped

Did we get a reaction from KellyAnne after her boss called her husband a little bitch last week?

  11. JanetFerber says:

I can’t wait to see this movie! I’m usually too scared to see a horror film, but this one is an exception.

  12. Oliviajoy1995 says:

US was a great movie! The whole cast was amazing but Lupita stands out. She is a great actress..

  13. Mary says:

Just saw the movie and loved it. But I’m from the Bay Area and loved the setting of the movie in Santa Cruz and the music. We are not black but our group was latina/ 1st generation americans and we enjoyed that the leading family were POC.

I loved Lupita- she is a bad ass and her movie-husband was SO likeable!! GO DAD!!!

I thought the movie was thought provoking and we continued to discuss the significance of the twists and turns in the last few scenes, after we left the movie theater.

My friends and I contributed to the 17 million oversea’s box office on Sunday. No regrets!
I really appreciate Jordan Peele’s way of film making, he’s very talented and a spirited storyteller. Looking forward to his next projects!!
