Serial child abuser Kirstjen Nielsen was fired from Homeland Security, oh well

Trump meeting on Fighting Human Trafficking on the Southern Border

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is a racist piece of Nazi garbage. One could argue that being racist Nazi trash is a prerequisite for taking any position in the Trump administration, just as one could argue that Donald Trump sets the tone, sets the policy and arguably wants his people to be even more racist and even more deplorable. Nielsen has openly and repeatedly lied to the media and to Congress about all kinds of things, from the threat Russia poses to our national security to how many immigrant babies are being kidnapped and abused by our government. Well, now Nielsen is leaving this administration. It would be good news, except that her exit is part of some kind of internal coup led by Stephen Miller, which means that Nielsen was seen as too lenient on all of those babies now being held in border camps.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen abruptly resigned Sunday, as the president continues to fume over continued illegal border crossings. CBS News first reported Nielsen’s impending departure, which Mr. Trump confirmed in a tweet after a 5 p.m. meeting with Nielsen at the White House. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will serve as acting DHS secretary, Mr. Trump announced.

Nielsen tweeted late Sunday that she has “agreed to stay on as secretary through Wednesday, April 10th to assist with an orderly transition and ensure that key DHS missions are not impacted.” Her departure is a part of a massive DHS overhaul engineered and directed by top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, according to a senior U.S. official. It’s unclear whether Nielsen is deciding to leave voluntarily, or whether she has been pressured to resign.

But Nielsen’s tenure since she was confirmed in December 2017 has at times been rocky, with the president taking some of his frustrations over illegal immigration out on her. Questions about whether she might leave have swirled for months. But she was by the president’s side on Friday in Calexico, California, as Mr. Trump pushed for a crackdown on illegal immigration and the need for a border wall.

[From CBS News]

Lock her up. Lock her up. Sorry, what were we saying? For months now, Nielsen and Trump have been fighting behind the scenes, and some of it has spilled out into the public sphere. As I said, Nielsen is a torturer, a child abuser, a liar and a Deplorable. But she often fought with Trump because he wanted her to abuse more children and be even worse to immigrants. With Miller’s coup/overhaul, expect DHS to get even worse, I guess.

Yeah….I mean, good riddance, but I think things are just going to get worse now.

    • Tate says:

The next person will be worse. Locking kids up in cages wasn’t cruel enough for trump.

      • jan90067 says:

Not even just “worse”… but now, Dump’s only assigning “acting” secretaries of____. This way, he can bypass Senate hearings/clearances that are needed for the perm. status. He can put in ANYONE.

And that evil-piece-of-excrement-self-hating-incel Miller is pretty much behind this?? JFC… God help those poor people.

    • ByTheSea says:

Exactly, she got fired to pick someone even worse.

      • Kittycat says:

How much worse can they get?

Like the next step is literally killing people and they couldn’t do that right? (I am really asking)

      • Darla says:

It’s a good question Kittycat. I went over everything they have done to little children in my head last night…the only thing more extreme would be purposeful starvation and extermination.

      • Kitten says:

The acting head McAleen is definitely not worse. I heard he was floating Matt Whitaker for the position which…what? Not that qualifications are ever of any consideration for Trump but still…

      • ByTheSea says:

Kittycat – there could always be worse. Someone who can implement the hateful strategy they have in place, for one. She backed off once the backlash became bad; he’s looking for someone who won’t.

      • Megan says:

McAleen oversaw the agents ripping kids out of their parent’s arms. It’s like they are all competing against one another to prove to Trump they are the most morally bankrupt.

    • Mia4s says:

This is my thought too. It’s like the old “Kill Hitler” dilemma. If you could go back in time to kill Hitler, no question of course you would. Right?…but…when you consider that some of his true believers were much better military strategists than him and might not have made some of the same mistakes that helped the Allies to victory? You could possibly have made things worse.

Not sure why any mention of the current US government draws my mind to Nazi metaphors…..actually yes I know why. 😒

      • ChillyWilly says:

Mia, your mind is correct to go there. Did you read about the historical black church burnings that are happening in Louisiana? There is some serious Nazi shit afoot in this country and we all need to be very aware. Trump wants to be a dictator very badly and if people think this couldn’t happen in 2019 America they are very naive.

      • Mia4s says:

I did read about the church burnings. When you add it all together I’m honestly a bit speechless.

      • Tiffany :) says:

The church burnings are chilling. We’re in a very scary place right now. Trump is really stoking the fringe elements.

    • Tiffany :) says:

The Trump administration admitted the family separations were intended as a scare tactic, to discourage people from coming to the US/Mexico border.

This policy has been a TOTAL FAILURE on that front. More people are coming, not less.

The Trump administration needs to be held to account on this. They are trying to double down on a failed policy, Not only is it inhumane and illegal, it isn’t achieving the desired goal.

    • holly hobby says:

Actually Twitter was pointing out that his appt is illegal. That job goes to the under secretary. Not the guy he picked.

Congress should put that Nazi Miller onto the stand. They need to grill him.

  2. Darla says:

She was fired because he doesn’t think she’s extreme enough. It’s going to be a long, hot summer. And you know, ranting on facebook hoping the people I know who have little kids and support this psycho will feel shame, is a useless waste of my time. I’ve been to DC for the protests against this, but further action is needed. That wasn’t enough. There is a real karmic debt Americans are accruing here.

    • Elkie says:

Are they “devout Christians”? I bet they’re devout Christians.

There’s no un-Jesus-like slavering, spittle-flecked hatred and hunger for needless performative cruelty against the most vulnerable members of society like “Conservative Christian Love”…

    • Ela says:

As a Hindu, I have always believed in karma but that belief is being shaken cos Trump is getting away with everything. I am not American but I see no accountability or retribution for his actions. America seems incapable of dealing with some one who is blatantly breaking all norms. From the outside, it really does look like he is winning.

      • Katy says:

Ela – sometimes it takes a long time for someone to get “their just rewards/or just punishment”. But I have lived long enough to have witnessed, and I am a full believer in “what goes around comes around”. I believe there is a higher power in this universe and someday Trump and all of the fake Christians that are complicit and support him will have to face the music.

      • mamunia says:

Ela, it may look like he’s winning, but he’s not. The economy shakes every time he tweets a new, absurd policy. And all Republican’s really care about, is money. The Republicans are all very much concerned with saving face so they will not admit he’s a moron and they are embarrassed by him publicly, but privately it is a different story. Voting booth’s are private and even people who might have voted for him the first time are tired of this nonsense. Trump creates enemies faster than he tweets and there are a lot of people who are stocking up on long knives.

      • Jaded says:

Ela, we do reap what we sow and I agree with Kate above that there will be karmic debt to be paid. I’m old enough to have seen and experienced it first hand and realize that despite what John Lennon wrote, there is no “instant karma”, it is a slow-moving but inexorable force and will take its toll on all those who are involved in this horrible debacle.

      • Megan says:

On Thursday morning Nielsen will no doubt be starting her new job as a lobbyist for guns, prisons, or cigarettes.

      • pinetree13 says:

This is why I don’t believe in Karma. Too many bad people get away with doing bad things and too many good people who suffer despite it. Ultimately I find the idea of Karma problematic becuase it’d be an easy way to blame the sick/poor and say “well they must have done something to deserve it.” and likewise praise the rich/priveledged “they must have done something to deserve it.” In fact there were many movements of Christians in the past that believed exactly that, that if you were poor you were unfavoured by God and if you were rich you were favoured by God.

  3. Diana says:

Why/ how does Stephen Miller have so much power and influence?

    • Becks1 says:

I think its because he views things as very black and white and simplistic. Immigration = bad, so we need to build a wall. I think that probably appeals to Trump because Trump doesn’t understand the nuance or complications involved in any given topic/situation.

    • Lizzie says:

Miller has been alive thousands years. He’s seen the rise and fall of empires. Civilizations built and destroyed. A vampire both ancient and young but as you can see by his hairline and parlor – his powers are waning.

      • Diana says:

@lizzie 🤣🤣🤣 And thank you for the explanation Becks! Dude is chilling- would kill you in cold blood type of person. What’s it going to take to get people to see these people for who they are????

      • Becks1 says:

Okay I like Lizzie’s explanation better.

      • Dawn says:

I often wonder if Stephen Miller sleeps upside down in a cave. Asking for a friend.

    • Jaded says:

He is the embodiment of sociopathic evil. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The more he gains the more he craves. He is a bottomless pit of hatred and greed, always has been, and those types always find like-minded and powerful people to promote their agendas. He’ll come crashing down though, they all will.

    • lucy2 says:

He’s manipulative, and works for a total moron who doesn’t do anything. Bad combo.

    • Sue Denim says:

It’ll prob end badly for him too, he’s just the rogue du jour…

  4. CharliePenn says:

I am so sickened by this woman. I am
So sickened about family separation. So often I find myself looking at my own small children thinking how our world would shatter if we were separated, thinking how lost they would be. Who would know their needs? Who would kiss their little hands and faces, sing to them and love them? How would they ever recover from such fear and stress? How are the children at the border making it through each day? I wish I could run to those children and somehow somehow make it better. I am so sickened and my heart hurts all the time that this is happening in our country.
I am beside myself still. And feel so powerless. I have so much hate. What a horrible time to be an American.

    • Darla says:

You may have hate, but you have something else too and that is empathy. That you look at your little children and see these children puts you so far ahead of many. I spent this weekend at 5 yo birthday party and I will just tell you 2 of the attendees…one is a bimbo who works for Neil Cavuto, and the other is in radio and a trumpster. Neither are in any way shape or form famous, well known, or up any food chain, to be very clear. Oh no, just run of the mill functionaries in the nazi chain. They brought their little kids with them. They do not look at these little babies trump is torturing and see their own children. So hold onto your humanity, it is stronger than your hate. And you know what? Hating nazis not really a bad thing.

    • Tate says:

That is why trump speaks the way he does about them. Calls them animals as a way to try and dehumanize them. It is sick and cruel. Even if these children were reunited with their families today they have already lived through so much trauma that will stay with them for their entire lives.

      • Darla says:

If you can be tricked into dehumanizing little children, toddlers, and infants by anyone, then you don’t have much humanity to begin with.

IMO they make a conscious choice. You know how Keisha sings there are some things only God can forgive? I don’t forgive these people. I will never forgive these people. More importantly, in my opinion, I do not have the standing to forgive these people

      • Kitten says:

They don’t deserve forgiveness. Shun the f*ck out of them.

    • Lady Keller says:

I would have found this horrifying before I had kids. Now that I am a parent it is excruciating. Any time I hear a terrible story involving kids I cant help but imagine the same thing happening to mine. I understand that some people are hardcore about immigration, fine that’s your right to feel that way. But you can find ways to send people back without ripping tiny children from their parent’s arm and throwing them into cells. You can deny people the right to enter your country without debating them and treating them like animals.

When I hear some of the horror stories of what people are escaping and what they are doing to get to the American border I am in awe of their determination. We all want what is best for our children and these people risk life and limb struggling for a chance of something better, only to reach the promised land and be locked in cages like animals.

    • Lindy says:

This made me cry sitting here at my desk. I love my kids so much. Every word you said rings true, down to the feeling of powerlessness. I’ve donated, marched, voted, campaigned, written, called… It feels like it’s not enough in the face of such horrifying cruelty being perpetrated by our leaders (even though I hate those leaders and didn’t vote for them).

I think about the future, though. Will it have been enough, the marching and donating and so on? I don’t think it will. I think history will ask why so many of us saw the evil and didn’t do more to stop it.

      • Darla says:

That’s how I feel Lindy. Except I don’t look at history, I think about it is as karmic debt that we are all incurring. I am ready to pay mine. I know I owe it. I feel as if the fact that I know this is evil and I haven’t thrown myself into the cog to jam the wheels, is where I fall short. And I’m not at the point where I’m going to do that. But I know I owe. I won’t be surprised when the bill comes due, so many will be shocked. I don’t know what it will come to before this ends. Its time now to forget DC and fly to the actual camps to protest. From there, where? I don’t know. I don’t know what would be enough.

      • AMAyson1977 says:

Me too. I have a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. How could any parent NOT see their own kids in those children? It’s a thought that haunts me. My little one is six, and she gets emotional if she’s away from me for more than a few days, on a fun vacation with grandparents who love her to bits and have been active in her life since the moment she was born. I can’t imagine the pain and damage that these monsters are doing to the psyches of those sweet little ones.

All children deserve a safe place to live, enough food to eat, guardians who love and cherish them, space to laugh and play and learn about their world. The people who embrace this sickening regime have no humanity, no compassion, no empathy, and no love. They missed the ENTIRE POINT of their beloved Christianity and have no concept of what Jesus would *actually* do.

I also fear that history will judge this point in our history harshly, but I think that harsh judgment is justified. These tactics are straight out of the playbook of the Third Reich. In America. It’s absolutely unconscionable.

  5. snowqueenM says:

Feels life this is the start of something even worse. ICE & DHS need to be reined in hard, but the Republicans with their arrest, torture, kill fetish are not going to do that. This is why it is so absolutely necessary that the Dems win in 2020.

    • Sue Denim says:

Yes… I’d lost faith in democracy after 2016, but it really is our only hope now. No cavalry…not Mueller, not anyone, esp w an R after their name…is going to save us. Generations of women, workers, blacks, etc. have had to fight for their rights. We thought we were done, but we’re not. This is our time to step up and fight…

  6. Lorelei says:

I just saw an interesting analysis- apparently there are lots of similarities between her resignation letter and the Anonymous NYT Op-Ed 🙃

  7. Sue Denim says:

A friend on FB posted that this is our “dirty war.” And so much shame to those who support this…esp the Christian fundamentalists who claim to love babies so much… How do they sleep at night? I struggle so much knowing that this is going on, feeling responsible but not knowing what to do, the lifelong q of how people stood by while the Nazis did what they did, and now it’s happening here… I’m trying so hard to stay focused on doing good to help counteract it all, but it really is overwhelming sometimes…

  8. Lucy2 says:

She belongs in jail, and I hope she never has a moment of peace for the rest of her life.

  9. Jerusha says:

My husband suffered from early onset Alzheimer’s. I know how godawful it is. I hope this is true of trump. No, I don’t apologize.

    • Valerie says:

Quite honestly, I think he is. That’s not to make an excuse for him, as some suggest. There comes a point where you don’t have to be a mental health professional or speech pathologist to recognize that something is not right with someone. Trump has passed that point.

  10. adastraperaspera says:

Trump is scattering the criminals to hide the crime. And Pompeo is running interference to block UN and other forthcoming investigations of their egregious human rights offenses.

    NPR reported recently:
“Last month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo — who had previously criticized the ICC and other international organizations — announced the U.S. would deny visas to ICC staff who are found to be directly involved in any investigation into U.S. or allied personnel.”

    • boredblond says:

Seems anyone who signs on during this administration gets sucked into the dark side..or maybe it’s who they always really were and the corrupt atmosphere frees them to be themselves. The maggats won’t care what the U.N. finds..trump has already fed them talking points to denigrate that org, just like ‘the press’, just like NATO..and on and on.

    • Swack says:

And then there is this: “Trump officials have also recently discussed creating an immigration “czar” — a single official who would oversee the issue across dozens of departments and agencies. The position would not require Senate confirmation.” Reported in several different news media.

      • Jerusha says:

Oh, the hypocrisy. The nutbags were busting a collective gut over Obama’s “czars.” UnAmerican, positively Russian they bellowed. But now they’ll eat it up and ask for more.

  11. hogtowngooner says:

I think she knows she’ll have a real tough time getting work after this. I hope she’s shouted out of every restaurant she tries to eat in. She defended the child separation policy and couldn’t be arsed to keep track of them so she can go pound sand for all I care.

  12. mycomment says:

irrelevant. she’ll never be able to wash off the stink of her service to dotard and grotesque policies she oversaw and supported. hell, she was going into the meeting on how to better facilitate dotard’s policies.

  13. LP says:

Anyone know how to report someone to The Hague, or begin a complaint? Asking for a friend…
