One of the bigliest problems with having a stupid, unhinged mobster for a president is that he inevitably believes the dumbest people are smart. He think “loyalty” is the ultimate sign of intelligence too, in which case Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are the smartest people he’s ever met in his life. Trump thinks so highly of Ivanka that he would basically give her any job she wanted. Thankfully, all she wanted was to be close to her unhinged daddy at the White House. But Trump wants us to know that he definitely thought about giving Ivanka a job as UN ambassador or… head of the World Bank.
President Donald Trump considered nominating his daughter Ivanka Trump for a variety of jobs including one at the World Bank, according to a new interview.
“I even thought of Ivanka for the World Bank,” Trump told The Atlantic magazine in an interview. “She would’ve been great at that because she’s very good with numbers.”
Trump in the interview said that he has thought of his daughter, who works in the White House as an assistant to the president, for several different positions, including United Nations ambassador, but has been dissuaded because of the appearance of nepotism, he said in the interview.
“She would’ve been great at the United Nations, as an example,” Trump said, adding that his oldest daughter is “a natural diplomat.” If he did nominate her, Trump said, “they’d say nepotism, when it would’ve had nothing to do with nepotism. But she would’ve been incredible.”
“She’s very good with numbers…” I doubt that, especially considering she’s terrible at words. You know who’s good with numbers? My tax guy, Phil. Maybe he should be in charge of the World Bank. His daddy didn’t pay millions of dollars for him to get a junk degree at Wharton though, so maybe not. Anyway, just another reminder – Trump really believes Ivanka is the smartest person he’s ever met.

Represented the US in the G20 summit.
Collected pay to play bribes from numerous countries
Lobbied for the tax scam, lobbied to gut the Family & Medical leave Act & raid Social Security for her Paid Family leave, which would be limited to married couples with newborns.
Crashed McCain’s funeral to play with her phone.
Posted a picture of herself in evening dress with her husband groping her ass to distract from Daddy’s Muslim ban.
Posted a staged picture of herself and her kid to distract from breaking news of Orange Voldemort separating families
Profits from those cages

I agree with everything except the “Chinese nationals” bit. All over in every industry we hire out from China mostly because America fails to educate in the industries we have the most growth in. Medical, environmental, engineering, we don’t even have enough skilled labor for infrastructure repair.
I would strongly caution against possibly xenophobic language like being aghast Chinese nationals were hired. A full third of the hospital I work in is staffed by Asian immigrants. Chinese people are not a threat to national security and many hold jobs we simply don’t have American nationals to do. Language like this encourages wariness of immigrants and is right on par with assuming all east Asian and middle eastern immigrants have ties to terrorism.
If the Chinese people on her staff messed around with her computers or bugged her house that is one thing, simply hiring Chinese people is not wrong.
I work with a doctor from Pakistan who once got to treat Michelle Obama. That means he had access to her medical records and a wealth of vulnerable sensitive personal information. Does that mean he was feeding this information back to terrorists? No, it means he’s a great pulmonologist and she needed a doctor during a campaign trail stop.
You have a ton of great points, just please stop encouraging immigrant xenophobia. Many jobs immigrants hold simply do not have an American educated or skilled enough to do it because of how we direct education without incentives to track into in demand industries.

She is using her home computer and server for government work. The nannies she hired from China have full access to those devices, especially when she’s not there, and they have not been vetted by our FBI, they don’t have security clearances. We know that China has been trying to bug Mar a Lago from recent arrests. That’s the context in which I made the statement. Michelle Obama’s doctor had a lot more hurdles to clear than Nagini’s nannies.
@anon its no secret we have to hire foreign workers to cover for the shortcomings we have in American education. It’s not just Asians, it’s Africans, south Americans, it’s all foreign workers. There are millions of workers on visas who America depends on and yes, even from China.
Concerning the Doctor he went through no hurdles other than being a doctor. She needed treatment on the campaign trail and he treated her. Thats very common since flying personal doctors all over is wasteful. He described her as a gracious, appreciative, angelic woman who was inspirational to get to meet.
Wouldn’t anybody working in her household undergo a background check by the FBI? Or am I expecting too much ….

Anon – we really do have a shortage of skilled people in various fields, including healthcare, science, and engineering. Our high-tech society depends very much on foreign talent. The high schools are not feeding enough students into the universities in those areas. Most of my fellow grad students in physics and chemistry had been educated outside the US, and they could run rings around most of us on mathematics. We had more lab experience from university work, however.
It’s not necessarily that Americans are dumb, but they certainly are not as well educated in certain areas and so are neither prepared nor interested in advanced work where such background is needed. So this anti-immigrant push in the current Administration is rather deadly to the functioning of graduate school and university departments in such fields and also for staffing of hospitals and doctor’s offices, especially general practitioners (apparently Americans are more interested in being specialists today).
In physics and engineering, departments can be destroyed by lack of foreign students, who also are the ones who pay their way (Americans are likely to have financial aid or have lower tuition due to residency). There are just not enough Americans to keep the degree programs open, which also means it’s harder to get teachers since most don’t want to teach only non-science majors or be just a support for other science departments like geology and chemistry. We always had a mixed schedule when I was teaching, advanced and general. Oddly enough, physicists actually like to think about physics at a more advanced level.
Research institutions likewise are crippled if people from other countries start to bypass us. A lot of research is done in grad schools, but other types of institutions are also affected. During an earlier era of distrust of foreigners, National laboratories found their research programs gutted when their foreign-born colleagues were pushed out by the politicians and couldn’t get security clearances, even though many were residents and had been working on such projects for years.
There has been talk for a while of boycotting scientific conferences held in the US because it is so hard for many colleagues to get into the US for the conferences. In the Trump era, this especially involves Muslim scientists from many different areas of the world (including Europe). So more conferences will be held in friendlier countries, which will affect local economies just as the decrease in tourists has made a hit on that also.

Kellysunshine- yes, but can’t hear the cries of “But her emails!” directed at Princess Ivanka for some obscure reason. I realize Trump has no idea how e-mail works, but the media has no excuse. They let him decide the news agenda and as a result it was hard to find out what Hillary was actually saying about the issues.
Hillary’s server was actually more secure than the government’s servers at the time. They were trying to make things more secure so she really should have just gone along with the new rules, but she certainly was following the spirit of the rules. She archived everything work-related and had two lawyers check all her personal email before deletion in case there was something that needed to be archived. And she used the State Dept server when handling any material properly marked classified.
Previous Secretaries of State used AOL for their email…. and the George W. Bush Administration deleted huge gobs of government related material for who knows what reasons. I think the number was in the millions. Hillary deleted about 33,000 non-work emails, which is a small number for someone using email extensively. I easily deleted that much myself every few months.
Of course, the FBI could and undoubtedly did recover any deleted emails because they have excellent data recovery software. Also they could collect some from the recipients. But my bet is that they just ran their recovery programs and poof, enough was still there to verify that she was telling the truth. The computer just marks space for potential future use when you delete a file or email message. I can understand why they are not anxious to advertise their skills in that matter, though.
