This is a fashion post with some of the people at last night’s Billboard Music Awards. You can see the complete list of winners here and Kaiser has more coverage this morning as well. First we have Kiernan Shipka in a bizarre Dior dress featuring a sheer top with satin stripes and a bell skirt with a red chevron pattern. It’s cute and young-looking. I would like it better if the top wasn’t see-through, but at least it has a nude underlay at the bust for privacy. You can even see the bottom part of the top through the skirt. As Red Carpet Fashion Awards points out, Kiernan’s makeup artist instagrammed all the makeup she used for this look.
Jennifer Hudson had on a crazy brown Area suit with sequin fringe. I don’t think I’ve ever seen sequin tassels on a suit before, so at least it’s unique. I don’t really like the diamond pattern on the shoulders but maybe it would work if the suit was a better color. I like how she’s twirling around and making the sequins fly, that looks fun. Jennifer presented the Icon Award to Mariah carey.
Eva Longoria looked a bit severe in a black very high cut Alberta Ferretti gown with a gathered fan-like detail at the bodice and a short split skirt. Her makeup artist went too heavy on her eyes and her legs and arms are very sparkly and orange. This look might be ok with softer styling. I’m glad to see her back on red carpets. Have you seen her baby recently? He’s adorable!
Olivia Wilde was amazing in a gold Ralph Lauren shirtdress with a black belt. The original look had a cape (which you can see in her Instagram post) but she took it off for the red carpet. My one complaint is that maybe she shouldn’t have gone with matchy platform shoes.

I find Kiernan’s dress to be near scandalous, lol. I know there’s an underlay but it looks like we’re just looking at her chest. It’s odd.
19 year old women like to wear things that are a bit revealing. Let’s not infantilize an adult woman because she’s young-looking. She’s not a child; she’s an adult and this is barely revealing.
I hate Olivia Wilde’s look. Her eyes look sooo tired, her hair looks like it needs help. That dress is just too blah with the matchy shoes. She honestly looks like she needs sleep. Very heavy, not fresh at all.
It’s the makeup…it’s really bad.
Some of these make up artists need to realize that not everyone can wear brown shadow! One really fair/pink toned skin it just looks like mud. Grey works so much better on cool skin tones.

Oh wow, that top on Kiernan’s dress is revolting. A rare miss for her. She looks cute otherwise.
JHud looks amazing these days and I don’t hate the suit even though I feel like I should, lol.
Olivia’s dress is beautiful on her, don’t love the shoes either, but I’m not a fan of her hair and makeup.
I’m also not a fan of Eva’s look, eek.
I kinda like Jennifer’s suit. It’s kinda cool. The color is throwing it off.

Love Kiernan’s dress. It gives the impression of being risque but isn’t at all, not with the underlay. Only criticism was that I’d like it better in a solid colour.
I think if the skirt had been really dark gray or black with the same overlay it has now, it’d be an improvement. Or if it didn’t have the overlay and was just the red shade.
I think she looks really cool. It’s risque but still not in danger of a nip slip – it made me think of barbie doll boobs a bit haha. But it’s not bad, either.
I find her really likable though, so I might be biased.

And same, I think she is a joy to watch in Sabrina so I may have a bit of a bias too.
I love it too and the coloring and edgy nature seems to reflect her Sabrina role- she’s still young but she can lean into some of those looks now since she’s been playing that character.
I like it too. She’s dipping a toe into the “sexy look” pool, but not fully diving in. It hints at naughty, but is totally modest when it comes down to it. Very fun!

I love Kiernan’s dress! It’s a fun look and styled beautifully. She’s definitely one of the best dressed last night.
I don’t see the issue with the top. Nude underlays are common these days. In this case, instead of it being lace or sequins it’s horizontal stripes on top.
Eva’s makeup artist should never work again. It takes a lot of effort to make a gorgeous woman look like a severe, humorless fem-bot, but they managed to do it and it’s a crime.
Jennifer looks like someone bedazzled a Dress Barn suit. Why does Eva want us to see her lulu???

What in the seven hells is Eva wearing!? Woman has been a red carpet staple for 15 years and was a pageant contestant before that. HOW did she look at that and think “yes, this will definitely flatter me”?
No idea who Kiernan is, but she looks adorable. The top clearly has an underlay, and a quick google indicates that she’s 19, so even if it didn’t, it’s fine. Everyone else looks absolutely ridiculous. Olivia’s makeup in particular is revolting,
YEOW!! On the one hand, I think of Shipka as a child, so the “nude illusion” top is making me really uncomfortable! On the other hand, I definitely wore a lace sheath dress over a nude slip to a school dance as a teen, as was the fashion in those days. It was my favorite dress tbqh. I thought I was so saucy! Look out, fellas!
The ’90s are back (albeit with a much-needed refresh), so yes, I guess I love Shipka’s ensemble. The a-line skirt is very “who, innocent little me?” and those shoes are killer for a red carpet. Super fun, too.
