Emily Blunt in Michael Kors at the Met Gala: needs a little something or perfect?

Emily Blunt’s default style can be campy. Remember the crazy Dolce & Gabbana jacquard suit with the giant bowtie she wore to the Writers Guild Awards? So I guess I’m expecting a little something more from her other than a sh-tton of gold sequins, but this is quite fun and I love those layered metallic flowers, which are very 60s and 70s. I think she’s wearing just one false eyelash. She’s having a good time.

Tiffany Haddish’s Michael Kors silver sequin leopard print bell bottom suit was just awesome. This is tacky and it’s campy. I didn’t even recognize her with that blonde wavy hair. She showed the E! reporters the chicken she had in her purse because they don’t have enough food for people. She was there last year so she knows. How do they not have enough food at that event? I don’t get that at all. Do they put the food away early, like at the Golden Globes? Look at her posing like a boss.

Bette Midler and her daughter, Sophie von Haselberg, were both in Michael Kors. A lot of headlines are saying that Bette is channeling her Hocus Pocus character. As Kaiser often says, go ahead and yell at me, but I don’t remember ever seeing Hocus Pocus. It wasn’t a film of my youth. Also I’m over Bette for a few reasons. It’s cute that she went with her daughter though and her daughter is nailing the theme.

Zoe Saldana was beautiful in a bronze Kors gown with sequin embellishments and a feather shawl. She’s styled to look like Diana Ross. Zoe has really grown on me and her husband, Marco Perego, seems supportive too. He could have stepped it up a notch but he’s letting her shine.

    Damn. Zoe’s man.

Just a very sexy & striking couple…but seriously…how many species of birds gave their lives to the Met Gala. I guess if the theme was overtly, “Cruelty in Fashion” there might be some issue.

Do you say this because of the feathers or because of the secret purse snacks?

Emily looked fabulous. Just FaBuLoUs. But nothing to do with camp. Maybe more kitsch like. Imma teensy bit offended that both Zoe & Ciara seemed to think wearing a full afro is camp. ?! Too many ppl looking like RiRi in her Guo Pei gown. btw RiRi where she be.🙄

I feel like everyone just said 70s sequins and afros = camp. VERY fun looks, but again, mostly pretty. I think in this bunch, Bette’s daughter is the only one on theme, with Tiffany Haddish as a maybe. But it’s possible I just don’t get camp 🙂

That’s so funny, because I was thinking Emily’s look was super campy… like Lucille Ball dressed up for one of Ricky’s shows, or like the Chiquita banana lady. Like a campy 1950’s showgirl.

I thought the same thing! The only thing she was missing was the fruit bowl on her head! But she does look stunning and she seems to be loving her look which shows!!

As someone who’s really not a fan of Emily – I think she looks pretty great here. Her hair/makeup are working.

I love Bette, and have watched Hocus Pocus more times than I can count, but I don’t really see her channeling Winifred that much here. Her and her daughter look so much alike it’s crazy!

Tiffany is my queen. That’s all.

I loved Emily’s! I had to think about it, how it fit camp. But I didn’t live through the 70s, and it fits that aesthetic perfectly. But overdone! Love love love it.

I like all of these. The bronze color of Zoe’s is beautiful.

l disagree that Tiffany looked tacky. I loved her outfit and it’s something that would look great on a standard red carpet. I think a lot of people went ’70s/disco because the look can be cheesy but most people just looked good.
