Last Friday, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ music video for “Senorita” dropped. It was described as “steamy” and “hot” and you know what? It was. I mean, you know I like Shawn Mendes. He looks like a male model and he has the voice of an angel. But it’s clear that Mendes and his team think that have a problem: he’s TOO clean-cut, too Canadian, too “nice.” So they’re trying to make him, like, the Canadian James Dean, in leather jackets and tight white shirts and makeouts with Camila Cabello. Is it working? Well, sort of. But you know what would help? If Shawn Mendes looked like the kind of guy with the raw sexual magnetism is takes to break up a girl’s relationship. Behold:
Camila Cabello might have a new No1 by the end of the week — and I don’t just mean in the charts. I can reveal the Havana singer has split from her love guru boyfriend Matthew Hussey after more than 18 months as a couple. And the timing of the break-up is likely to raise eyebrows, as she has just released a steamy video for new single Senorita in which she writhes around shirtless with Shawn Mendes.
She has long been close with the Canadian hunk and their friendship has been plagued by whispers that they are more than just friends. A source close to the singer said: “Camila’s relationship with Matthew had run its course and they decided to break up about a fortnight ago. It was a mutual decision to end things. But they have spent a lot of time together over the last year and a half and want to stay friends despite going their own way. This is of course going to fuel rumours that she and Shawn have become more than just pals though.”
If this move is purely about romance, I don’t hate it, and if this move is about PR shenanigans and rebranding Shawn Mendes into A Dude Who F–ks, I also don’t hate it. It’s a total win-win. Of course it’s possible that Camila’s relationship fell apart on its own, without any help from Mendes, just as it’s possible that Camila won’t start up with Shawn now that she’s available. But their respective publicists must be salivating at the possibility, right?

Her voice sounds electronic meaning they autotuned her to death. I also hate her songs (wtf is with the stupid baby like panting in that song on the radio?). The real test is singing live. I bet she can’t do it.
Such a shame the industry is filled with autotune fakes. No one can sing live like the singers in the 70s and 80s (Eagles, Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt etc).

Why this constant need to be perceived as a bad boy, there is nothing wrong with being perceived as a kind man is respectful towards women and all other human beings (see Keanu Reeves, Joshua Jackson). It’s was this stereotype, that many of girls or womans prefer like to like bad boys, because the society told they have to a sacrifice their lives to save their bad boys.

I don’t think being a bad boy is what people are aiming for nowadays — I think it’s that hipsterish look that people seem to covet. He’s like the opposite of hipster (scruffy beard, sort of disheveled, etc.) He does kind of seem like he’s from another time, like he should be wearing a varsity jacket at all times. I feel he would have fit in well on a Saved by the Bell episode.
He is so adorable. If I were his age, I’d dump my boyfriend for him in a second. But, yeah, this seems like some PR to rough up his boy-next-door image.
i actually kinda love matthew hussey at this point, i’ve watched quite a few of his clips on Youtube, and the more general-life-confidence type ones especially are really good sometimes. he’s adorable and frankly perhaps she’s nuts not to leap at the chance to be w a dude who actually isn’t a total dolt about romance and respecting ppl in relationships.

Shawn Mendes is doing just fine. He doesn’t need to do pr stunts. He’s talented and has a reputation for being an absolute sweetheart. Some people can actually have a career based off just their talent you know? I don’t think these two are dating…they’ve been friends for years and that’s probably all it is.
she’s beautiful and he’s a doll. i like the song. i’m a fan of both. i’d guess her breakup happened organically and it was also convenient for PR to sell their single. i think they are genuinely friends and she probably ran to him post-breakup even if it wasn’t romantic. i think we all had that adorable guy who we kept in the friendzone in favor of douche bags who hurt us that looking back – we probably should have locked down.

I’m 26 and think he looks like a baby. He looks 15. He reads too young to be sexually attractive to me, and I found he basically had anti-chemistry with Camila in their new music video. I have a strong suspicion he’s gay. If not, he’s just quite effeminate, which is fine — I never go for super manly men, but again he’s just not sexy to me whatsoever.
