The bestselling hair straightener, refreshing facial spray and high combat boots

c700x420
Prime Day is coming next week and I’ll do a special post for that, probably Monday as it starts that day. I’ve been buying more items we’re featuring, which I’m hoping are deductible if I review them. I got the Ninja Hot and Cold Coffee Maker and I love it! It works great, it also makes cold brew, tea, single cups, and has a built-in frother on the side. I have only made hot coffee so far but it’s easy to use and looks so high tech on the counter. The lady shaver we talked about a couple of weeks ago is great, it works just as well as they say and I’m really pleased with that purchase. Also I just bought the fancy cool memory foam pillow, that’s coming Wednesday so I’ll let you know. I’m considering that eyelash serum so many people purchased from a few weeks ago. (I wanted to get eyelash extensions, but thanks to everyone’s advice I’m skipping them and sticking to single inserts.)

The number one bestselling hair iron
51hk-jdQACL
This one inch tourmaline ceramic hair straightener and curler has over 28k reviews, 4.4 stars and a B from Fakespot! It comes with a travel pouch and protective glove. It also has dual voltage so it can be used in the US or overseas. Users call it “the best flat iron I have ever had,” “the holy grail” and “awesome.” It’s also said to feel ” really professional and state of the art” and to be “really easy to use” while heating up fast. There’s a video that highlights its features, including anti-snag plates with curved edges and protectant features which automatically adjust the temperature for even heat. So many women swear by this iron.

Really cute and affordable high combat boots
Amazon_CombatBoots
One of my Instagram friends was wearing these in a story she posted. I asked her about them and it turns out they’re from Amazon and are less than $50. These might be a fall item but I’m posting them now before I forget! These boots by Wild Diva come in 11 different color and hardware options, either gold or silver. Women say they love them, call them “super comfortable right out of the box,” “not too tight or too loose” and say they fit both larger and average-sized calves.

A bamboo silverware drawer organizer to upgrade your kitchen
Amazon_SilverwareOrganizer
I need to replace my lousy plastic silverware organizer and this would do just the trick. It looks so upscale too. This expandable drawer organizer by Amazon basics can be used for multiple purposes, including silverware, junk storage, and art supplies. This has 370 reviews, 4.4 stars and an A from Fakespot. Plus it’s just over $20! Most people rave about it. One calls it “very sturdy,” and writes that it’s “well made and looks beautiful.”

A facial spray duo for a luxurious refresh
Amazon_FacialSpray
My friend loves this stuff, but it feels indulgent to me to spend $14 on extra products to spray on my face. That’s never stopped me before though. This gentle mist by Mario Badescu comes in a duo of both rosewater and cucumber with green tea. You get four ounces of each for just $14. Users say it’s “perfect for all skin types” and is “so refreshing and hydrating.”

A cloth to remove even waterproof makeup with just water
Amazon_MakeupEraser
Do I need a makeup eraser because it looks so much fancier and more effective than a washcloth. This microfiber cloth has 4.4 stars, over 700 reviews and an A from Fakespot. All you do is wet this thoroughly and it removes makeup as well as cleansing products. Reviewers write that “It definitely takes off my full-coverage foundation, waterproof eyeliner and mascara” and that it’s “nothing short of amazing!” This costs $20 and women love it. However we did feature a similar cheaper product a few weeks ago, the Moja cloth, here’s a link to that.

A leather crossbody designer dupe
Amazon_designerdupe
I’m making that face when you see something cute you want and purse your lips into an O. This gorgeous leather purse is under $66 for the large version and comes in three different sizes, a couple of different styles and in gray, brown and black. It’s got a cool-looking chain and hardware which makes it look like it’s several times the cost. It has about 27 reviews, 4.3 stars and an A from Fakespot. A woman who bought the large gray one (that’s the one I want!) says “The leather is beautiful and soft, the size of the large bag is perfect” and that “It is nearly indistinguishable in quality from the Chloe and even the dust bag appears to have been upgraded.” This is shipped from overseas and may take a little longer to arrive.

Organic argan oil for hair, skin and nailcare
Amazon_ArganOil
We have featured Argan oil before, it’s a great product. This certified organic argan oil by Kate Blanc is just $13 for a full four ounces. People say it’s great for their skin and nails and some women use it as a heat protectant for hair. This has over 1,700 reviews, 4.5 stars and a B from Fakespot. Reviewers write that it’s “great for skin, hair” and that “it does help, just don’t overdo it.”

Just be aware that Mario Badescu’s products were found to have had steroids in them in the past. I just can’t trust them anymore after that.

    • Esmom says:

Oooh, yuck. Trader Joe’s was just sampling a rosewater spray the other day and it seemed nice. Much cheaper, too.

      • Mumzy says:

Eve Hansen has a nice 100% steam-distilled rose water face spray on amazon for a nice price. It’s much better than rose water “blends” such as Trader Joe’s and Mario Badescu.

A lot of beauty products sold on Amazon are counterfeit and adulterated. I stopped buying beauty products through them after getting one too items that were clearly opened previously and reboxed.

      • fifee says:

Totally agree about some being counterfeit. I bought a conditioner that Im more than convinced was counterfeit after reading other reviews. I used it once and had my scalp burn for a couple of hours after usage, I was sure that I was going to have blisters and loss of hair. I’ve never known conditioner which was apparently for sensitive scalps act like this. I contacted both Amazon & the brand, needless to say neither responded to me.

      • jennifer says:

@fifee, omg, burning, that is horrible. glad you are ok, i can’t even begin to wonder what they put in it. the last item i bought was facial sunscreen, it was so obviously fake with the labels peeling off. i was afraid to put it on my face, and now i just won’t bother with amazon. a shame.

Oh that handbag! I think I need it in my life.

  3. ojulia123 says:

    THOSE BOOTS. OMG.

  4. TeddyPicker says:

I’m always wary of Mario Badescu promises. That miracle pimple zapper serum they’ve got did absolutely nothing for me and their face wash dried me out.

The bamboo organiser looks great – so much nicer than the crappy plastic one from Wilko I’ve got now.

    • Anners says:

I have the rose water spray. I like it, but I’m not sure it’s changed my skin to be honest. It just feels nice. I spray it on AM and PM after washing my face but before adding any other products. It smells really nice (but is not overpowering).

  5. OuiOkay says:

I have a makeup remover like that. I got it from miniso. Clever product ! I got two as they need to be washed sometimes

    • I have a dupe of those make up remover clothes that are GREAT AND CHEAP. They really do help to get even waterproof eye make up off but warning. You will break out if you use them with no cleanser. I just use with some cera-ve cleanser (Or BODY SHOP CHAMOMILE CLEANSING BUTTER ITS THE BOMB!!) but they really do get a full face of base makeup and eye makeup off and it’s so much better for the environment then those disposable ones (Cheaper too! you just throw them in the wash) I bought 5 packs of them. LOVE THEM.

I’m getting that drawer organizer today, thanks. Much better than the pricey one I got from The Container Store years ago and which never really fit right and doesn’t hold a lot of things.

Mostly unrelated and I don’t want to hijack this thread but suddenly no hair product I try to use seems to work on my summer frizz. I think my hair texture is changing as I careen into menopause. Any recommendations? I bought the Aveda Smooth Infusion products about 8 weeks ago, remembering how much I used to like Aveda years ago, and while it smells nice my hair just isn’t that smooth when I use it.

    • Kaye says:

Esmom: My hair used to be a good texture, but now it is getting frizzy, too. And I have careened right through menopause and am looking around on the other side, going, what the . . . ?

Does anyone have any recommendations for aging and/or newly frizzy hair?

    • Pixelated says:

Hey @esmom! I’m a stylist in an Aveda salon and I love the Smooth infusion line for blowouts. Smells so good! I think of it more as a prep for styling and it will help tame flyaways, but nothing replaces heat and tension to get hair smooth. Have you tried a deep conditioning mask?
Oftentimes hair is under hydrated which can make it more unruly. Aging hair is more coarse, as well. I recommend anything super hydrating (Smooth Infusion has a mask) and use if one a week on your mids to ends. It makes such a difference!
When I do my hair at home (I have medium density hair, slightly wavy) I use the Amika straightening brush and a heat protectant. I do not love flat irons as I have seen SO many clients with crazy splitting and damage from them. Please always use a heat protectant when using hot tools! Lol just my PSA. Hope this helps 🙂

      • Esmom says:

Thank you, Pixelated for the great info. I do use deep conditioning masks but I haven’t tried the Smooth Infusion one. I only have the shampoo, conditioner and style prep stuff. Maybe the problem is that I don’t actually use heat — I let it dry naturally since my hair is wavy to curly, also medium density. I only blow it out on the rarest of occasions. Some days my curls are nice and smooth and soft but other days the frizz gets bad. I can’t seem to detect a pattern. And when I’ve used products specifically for curly hair, they seem to weigh my hair down too much.

      • Joanna says:

Thanks for the info on that straightening brush. I looked it up and I had a coworker who had one of those and I tried it. I think I will get one. Idk if it was the same brand. My hair is very straight but sometimes I use a straightener to smooth my bedhead. But sometimes after I straighten it, it’s TOO flat. As in limp and then even slightly frizzy. I’ve just been using a cheap one, do you think that might be the problem. My hair is very straight and not thin but not thick either. I think maybe that brush might work well. What do you recommend for a heat protector? Thanks again

    • Lizzie says:

i have that organizer. it is great.

i just got my kitchen redone and the cabinet co wanted $250 for the drawer w/ insert for the silverware. i vetoed it and put this $20 one in and it looks identical to the interior of the drawer. with the expanders looks like it is perfectly flush to the edges and looks like it is part of the drawer AND has more compartments than the one the cabinet co offered. i love it.

      • Esmom says:

That’s awesome. Yeah, I have done/re-done three kitchens in the past 25 years and it’s outrageous what the cabinet companies want for those extras, cool as they seem. Thank goodness there are lower cost alternatives for those willing to go beyond one stop shopping.

  7. crogirl says:

I need a new hair straightener, does anyone have this one? It’ s not expensive and I might go for it

    • hnmmom says:

I have this exact hair straightener and love it. Just bought my second one, as my teen daughter seems to “borrow” it all the time and I’m tired of hunting for it. I just took it to Europe and can attest that the dual voltage part is super convenient.

      • crogirl says:

        @HNMMOM & PIX
Thanks, I’ll order it, I live in Europe and the dual voltage part is important to me.

    • Pix says:

I’ve had this hair straightener for over three years and it’s great. As good as Solia and Sedu brands but has lasted much longer.

    • Ang says:

The Instyler is the best straightener I’ve ever used; hands down. I have the Dyson now but you have to use it wet so it’s different from the instyler that I used for 12 years prior

      • T1000 says:

How is the Dyson flat iron? I’m willing to invest in pricier products if they will save me misery down the road. I had the same flat iron from Amazon, and it was ok. I recently upgraded to a CHI which is much better, but doesn’t allow me to adjust the heat. I think it gets way too hot. Should I try the Dyson? Or the Instyler? Thanks!
PS I have long, fine, slightly damaged hair. It’s barely wavy. It should be easy to flat iron! 🤦🏻‍♀️

  8. Nicegirl says:

This young lady is still looking for a kick ass heated eyelash curler. It’s a dilemma.

  9. Emily says:

I bought the Mario Badescu stuff to use for travel back March and I’m still using it, 1-2 times a day. It’s lasted a loooong time, so in that way it’s probably worth the $14.

  10. A says:

I’ve recently discovered cleansing oil for removing make up and that has been an absolute life changer. Anything else including makeup wipes were just way too harsh on my skin and leaving it noticeably dry. I thought for the longest time that oil cleansing was a no go for me because I have oily skin myself, and plus, I’ve had really really bad experiences when I’ve tried it in the past, not to mention I really don’t like the sensation of rubbing oil on my face. But cleansing oils are a whole different ball park, as it turns out. I’m so glad I stumbled onto this purely by accident lol.

    • T1000 says:

What type of oil/s are you using?

    • jennifer says:

I second that to cleansing oils! it took me a while to believe they would work but once I tried, I haven’t turned back. I’m using Burt’s Bees brand right now.

  11. Bebe says:

I love all these skincare tips. Y’all really know your stuff! ❤

Right now, tho, what I’m having problems with is the cellulite in my butt cheeks lol need help. I don’t even drink soda (which I was told can aggravate cellulite), so idek why I have it so badly.

  12. Helen says:

I prefer my Karmin iron I love it
