I don’t have patience for people who body-shame. I also find discussions of people’s butts bizarre. I don’t understand why people care that someone else’s butt is more round, more flat, or something in between. So, I had no idea that people cared about Chrissy Teigen’s butt. But apparently, it became a point of discussion on Twitter, thanks to a photo that’s making the rounds, and Chrissy wasn’t amused.
Chrissy is standing in a hot tub (?) on a boat and is holding Miles and giving him a kiss on the side of his head. John is sitting in the hot tub next to and behind Chrissy and Miles. From the camera angle, it looks like he is looking at her butt. Had that been all, Twitter might have left it alone, but because his face is slightly scrunched, someone on Twitter decided that John was reacting negatively to Chrissy’s backside. Chrissy retweeted it and admitted she had no ass.

Then she wrote that it would be obvious and people would point it out if paid to get her butt done too.

Rather than simply apologizing and letting it go, the original tweeter tried to say that Chrissy was misinterpreting what he’d originally meant. She wasn’t having that, either.

Then he responded again, to which Chrissy made her point again.

After that she defended going back and forth with him.
Buzzfeed points out that John’s face alone makes a great meme, and posts some suggested text, including, “Me, when someone suggests I do work,” and “me, when someone talks about another person’s body.”
People have been replying supportively to Chrissy and have offered their own (random) explanations for what John’s thinking.

John actually looks like he’s closing his eyes (or looking down) and scrunching his face because the sun is in his eyes. He’s also sweating, so he’s possibly reacting to the sting from sweat or sunblock in his eyes, not to his wife’s butt.
I love that Chrissy doesn’t let the original tweeter off the hook and doesn’t put up with his “Ma’am/stay blessed/You know that right?” condescension. I’m not surprised that he’s digging himself deeper into a hole as he tries to explain to Chrissy that she’s missing his joke and therefore his very funny point, followed by his attempt to come up with some other (ridiculous) explanation for what he meant, because it’s 2019, and people think that they can comment on and police women’s bodies. Chrissy’s also right that if she decided to get a butt lift, people would be commenting and snarking about that, so no matter what she does, someone is always going to have something to say. I love that she pushes back.

Her and Pink should really consider getting off social media or disabling comments. These two are always getting into it with some random who posts a comment they don’t like. It’s so stupid.
They would probably die without all the attention they get on social media.
They use their platforms to stop the normalization of misogyny. Not everyone has the luxury of ignoring or accommodating it. I appreciate their decision to stand up and say “not today” to the jerks.

Teigen isn’t someone who trivializes social media. So why SHOULDN’T she get into it with people trying to control the narrative about her, her body, her relationships, etc on Twitter? She genuinely seems to believe it’s a place where people “live,” including herself, so she’s invested.
It would be hypocritical if she didn’t utilize social media so much and in so many other ways, or if she talked about how only “losers” place so much importance on social media platforms as I’ve seen other celebs do. But this dude makes his money there, and so does she, so she’s coming at it from that angle — they both swim in these waters, and he’s polluting hers.
I love her, she’s too much sometimes, but she’s unapologetically her, and it’s clear from her IG that she is very dedicated to her kids, and to John, without being his “groupie”.

Trying very hard to remember what I used to like about her. Is there anyone thirstier than her? I can’t even imagine taking the time to respond to twitter insults; the whole thing seems so empty. At the end of your life, are you going to look back on the Twitter battles with strangers as time well spent?

She defends herself against a body-shamer and she’s the thirsty one, she should shut up and leave so let’s sit around and judge how she spends her time, what she enjoys as opposed to what we think she SHOULD be doing. She’s an accomplished woman, cookbook author, cook, mother, advocate, but sure. She’s in the wrong here. Sometimes the ugliest misogyny comes from other women, I swear to God.
I don’t think she’s defending herself against a body-shamer, I think she’s got 11 million followers and she’s scanning twitter comments looking for today’s thing to get outraged about. I don’t think she’s upset or defending herself, I think she’s monetizing her comments. It’s not misogyny to doubt someone’s authenticity and I doubt hers.
This is one of the reasons I am happy to not be famous. Every inch of your body is ripped to shreds by strangers all over the world. Everything you wear is criticized. Everything you say is twisted into something negative. I see why so many celebrities develop an IDGAF attitude.

I guess in the guy’s defense, he probably felt bad about it ( so easy to say crap on the internet and forget there are real people on the other side) and tried to back it up. Of course he should have just said sorry.
And also this made me feel better because that’s what my ass looks like after having kids! Like pregnancy took the fat from my ass and reallocated it to my stomach. It sucks! I recovered somewhat with a bunch of weight lifting and squats. Now I just had number two and am looking at pancake butt square one again. So anyway, Chrissy Teigen feels my pain and that makes me feel better for some silly reason.
I know all about the pancake butt. It’s like it gets flatter with each kid. I try to do squats and lifts when I can, but it’s hard to make it a priority. And if I go more than a week without a butt workout it just seems to deflate.
I like that she claps back on this. People spew BS on social media without thought and without consequences and so they do it again and again. I know some trolls feed off the attention when celebrities respond to them but if her clapbacks mean some would think 2-3 times before spewing BS again, I’m all for it.
Agreed. So many people make pronouncements on Twitter as if their word is gospel. I think the whole point is to exchange thoughts, not just let some dumbass have the last word, especially when it comes to shaming like this. And to those who say her time would be better spent doing other things, I don’t think she’s on Twitter nearly as much as other high profile people. She’s using the platform well, imo.
“As long as he’s got good teeth and he doesn’t smell”. That’s what my mother used to say about the importance of a man’s looks. I think I get it. Apart from those things, you can overlook anything. Because if you’re in love, you won’t even see the flaws, or even consider them flaws if you do see them. I guess she drew her personal line at teeth and body odour. Also, their baby looks exactly like John.

As a fellow flat-asser, she makes me proud. I remember seeing a pic of her in a bathing suit and I did a double-take, like, “OMG, her ass looks kind of like mine!” Not everyone is blessed with booty.

I’m a member of the no ass club too and I always say that my ass works just fine for what it does: I can poop and I can sit. That’s an ass success to me.
People need to just stop commenting on women’s bodies in the first place—at least publicly anyway.
