Here’s a reminder: Jason Isaacs has always been pretty hot. He’s always been a good actor, and apparently he’s always been pretty liberal/progressive and woke. Jason Isaacs currently stars in Star Trek: Discovery, a reboot/reimagining which started in 2017. Jason Isaacs, as it turns out, cares deeply about Star Trek and about Trekkies. Real Trekkies, not the pretend Trekkies who seem to think that Star Trek is being overtaken by “social justice warriors.” Like, wasn’t the Star Trek franchise always about peace and exploration and inclusion? WTF. From Jason Isaacs’ Radio Times interview:
On Fake Trekkies: “Initially when we launched Star Trek there were a bunch of voices pretending to be Star Trek fans online, complaining that we were social justice warriors, and that it was all too right-on, the MeToo generation, that we had a young black woman lead. And they were exposed very quickly as a bunch of non-Star Trek fans, racist right-wing lunatics – because the real fans took to them as soon as the show started running. That’s not what Star Trek fans think. It was people who were jumping on the bandwagon to espouse these disgusting views thinking that they had a platform for it. And very quickly they were drowned out by people telling them… if they thought the makers of Star Trek were social justice warriors, they were absolutely right! Because that’s what it’s all about. They had a Russian on deck right at the heart of the Cold War. And they had the first interracial kiss!”
He thinks they won over doubters very quickly: “There was an odd thing that went on when we first started, there were a lot of people saying negative stuff. Because there was the Star Trek that they love, that they grew up with, and we weren’t that. I was a bit disappointed that they faded away so quickly, because I know Next Generation had a couple of seasons worth of resistance. The fans seemed to like this very quickly.”

I like that he doesn’t even pay any mind to the bulls–t Nazis online who just want to whine about EVERYTHING. Those Nazi sh-theads are always going to come out of the woodwork whenever someone dares to make a TV show or a movie which isn’t about THEM, which isn’t about white dudes in an all-white world, constantly and forever.

Yeah you can’t be Trekki and full-on right wing at the same time. The entire premise of the Star Trek franchise is a civilized future which has evolved past monetary systems controlled by any governing body. It’s all about human exploration and universal efforts in building and embracing societies domestically and universally. It’s mankind’s responsibility to essentially personify tolerance and acceptance.
Same with ‘Star Wars’. All the RWNJs who complained it was too liberal and based in the resistance…uh well DUH. That’s the god damn premise lol.
Unfortunately, there is a very vocal alt-right presence in the Star Wars fandom. After TLJ, Russia actually targeted it as one of their fandoms for riling up racists (I kid you not) and that influence is still there.
