Cynthia Erivo almost always brings dramatic fashion! I enjoy seeing her red carpet looks because she loves dressing up and costumes and it shows. I feel like her Thom Browne gown was a missed opportunity. We’ve seen so many dresses with that kind of low cut tiny Peter Pan collar except this was sequin. It wasn’t particularly groundbreaking and I wanted to see more from her. Cynthia was nominated for best actress in a drama for Harriet. She’ll probably get an Oscar nom for that too, but I bet Renee Zellweger will take that category, just like she did last night. Cynthia told Ryan Seacrest that she was wearing jewelry worth $3 million! That necklace!
Beanie Feldstein was nominated for best actress in a comedy for Booksmart. She wore an off the shoulder navy metallic Oscar de la Renta. I love the Grecian leaves around the bustline and arms and the braided headband was a nice touch. I think her earrings are too matchy but that’s a minor complaint.
Shailene Woodley was in black and blue colorblock beaded Balmain. This is bizarre, I think the giant circle at the neck is throwing me off, as is the fact that the shapes on the dress look random. She looks miserable too.
Janina Gavankar is on The Morning Show and I know her from True Blood. She looked quite cute from the waist up in Georges Chakra. I actually like the giant puff sleeves here but if you look closely you can see that the skirt is see through and that’s just tacky.

Photo #1. Like the entire look, extra points for the very cute hair.
2. Like everything, love the braided head piece, please stand up straight, better posture always helps on the red carpet.
3. #3. Nice.
4. Nice , but I wish the look of short layer with see thru netting would end already.
Btw, Ricky Gervais …. I give him credit, boy, he delivered on his promise to not hold back.
Delicious. 🙂
Cynthia and Beanie looked fantastic. So refreshing not to always be seeing the conventional Hollywood people. Diversity is still a goal for us in the U.S. (and, of course, not hating people who are different from you).
Beanie looks amazing!! Love the colour and love the headband!! Love, love, love the RINGS!!!!
I think Beanie had the best look of the evening. The earrings, headband, eye makeup…fantastic
It’s important to note that with young upcoming actresses like Cynthia there isn’t parity when it comes to access to stylists, designers etc (which also infuences who gets booked for roles).
That said if you’re going to go quirky there are a plethora of young and upcoming designers who would sell their mothers to dress her and dress her well. Also being this edgy requires skill Janae Monelle level skill which Cynthia will acquire will time, exposure and more access to designers and their threads.
Excellent point.
I don’t love the dress, but she looks good.
I love Beanie, and she looks great here. I love that deep blue color.
CE is getting there. Give her time.
Beanie’s dress is beautiful-I feel like that rich deep purply-blue isn’t the most common and I like it. The braided headband is an offbeat touch but it works. Also. Her makeup is perfect.
I love Cynthia’s necklace…but dont care for the dress. And I dont think Renee is shoe-in. Personally, I think theres a good chance that Scarlett wins the Oscar.
Cynthia is perfection! Beanie needed a necklace of some sort, and yes the earrings are too matchy.
As I am looking at Beanie, I see how much she and Jonah look alike. You know they are siblings.
Am I the only one who loves Cynthia’s dress? It shows off her shoulders, then moves into the pearl layer then the black sparkles. That sapphire necklace is breathtaking but I don’t know if it really added to the gown since it was so embellished already but I love it all.
Shailene always looks dreary to me.
I never watched True Blood so I’m not familiar with that actress but I think that dress has 80s prom sleeves and negligee bottom.
I’ve thought several people looked unhappy/miserable.
Okay, I LOVE both Cynthia Eriv and Beanie Feldstein’s whole looks. They both look gorgeous and interesting! Lovely accessories in both cases.
