Duchess Meghan posted an IG about a charity visit she made weeks ago

I saw at least one royal reporter being a bitter bitch about this, so you know it’s amazing. Just a few hours after the Duchess of Cambridge surprised everyone with her big Early Years “launch” (which is a questionnaire), the Duchess of Sussex stepped on Kate’s newscycle by posting some photos of the SussexRoyal IG. Meghan was made the patron of Mayhew, an animal-rescue charity, about a year ago. She only did one event with Mayhew (I think?) in 2019. But she apparently stopped by Mayhew in her brief return to the UK several weeks ago. So, this was a delayed announcement. Which the Cambridges do all the time, to get credit for their “private visits” and such. But still, the bitterness! HOW DARE SHE. Here’s what was posted on the SussexRoyal IG:

Earlier this month, The Duchess of Sussex popped in to see the amazing people at Mayhew to hear about the incredible progress made throughout the festive period.

The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day.

From cats and dogs who have found new homes to animal welfare cases handled in the community – @TheMayhew believes in the power of togetherness and the special bond between humans and animals.

[From SussexRoyal IG]

I do wonder if this is how it’s going to be from now on, and I don’t mean the stepping-on-newscycles thing, although I wonder about that too. I don’t mind the Instagram announcements and the posts highlighting individual charities and all that. But is that all we’ll get while the Sussexes are in Canada? Will they actually do some events with press availability and, you know, photos that they didn’t personally shoot, select and choose to post on IG? I’m asking because I’m worried that the Canada House photos – aka The Freedom Photos – are the last “event” photos we get of Harry and Meghan for months/years.

I do think she’s got something planned with Mayhew! Omid had the CEO on his podcast a few weeks back and I believe they hinted at something

  2. Belli says:

“I saw at least one royal reporter being a bitter bitch about this, so you know it’s amazing.”

Kaiser, you get better every day!

    • Hannah says:

Please call me out if I’m wrong, but was that not cleared up as Kate choosing today to launch her thingamajiggy which clashed with Prince Charles’ delivering a keynote speech at Davos today 🤷‍♀️

      • Becks1 says:

No, some were specifically referencing the Sussex IG – but some of those RRs are so bitter about the Sussexes, its unreal.

      • Lise says:

Richard Palmer was pretty salty and wrote this: “Wow, what unfortunate timing that once again, just as a senior member of the Royal Family was heralding an important initiative, the Sussex Royal Instagram account kicked into life with some PR pictures at the very same moment.” I mean, technically, it could apply to Kate or Charles, but I would argue that the launch of the OMG SURVEY is the “important initiative” here…

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Maybe Meghan expected the launch of Kate’s initiative to happen LAST YEAR like Kate promised, and finally got tired of waiting? I mean, if Meghan has to wait for Kate every time, she could end up waiting forever.

    • Rice says:

Well, they can bitch all they want, but that cute doggo is giving me “How you doin’?” look.

  3. Belle says:

Based on the fact that Meghan and Harry left, I am assuming this maybe a conincidence. The whole stepping on each other’s news cycle is petty in any direction. I see Meghan and Harry pass that! And for their sake, I hope they stay low (not because they should but because it honestly seems like it is what they desire) but when they make an appearance it is worthy and with substance. A thing we have seen from them in the past.

    • Royalwatcher says:

But only the Sussexes get called out for it. That’s the problem!! Why didn’t those same RRs call out Kate for stepping on Charles’s toes? He’s at Davos this week. But nothing but crickets on why Kate had to release her super big, 8-yr in the making, earth shattering 5 question “survey.” Once again she gets a pass and the no longer BRF Meghan gets scolded for doing the same thing. I haven’t seen one single person mention Kate stepping on C’s newscycle!!!

I’m a petty a$$hole I guess, because I DO hope it was deliberate and I hope the Sussexes continue to step on the Cambs news cycles the same way the Cambs stepped on Meghan’s neck these last 3 years 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have no sympathy for W&K.

And FWIW, I actually don’t think the Mayhew post was intentional (just the way Kate doing her thing whole Charles is at Davos this week was probably unintentional) but I love to see all the RRs and Camb stans crying into their tea about the unjust rudeness of it all when they make not a peep about Kate > Charles.

      • Carrie says:

8 years for 5 questions? WTF? Andy had tunnelled halfway through Shawshank by then…

      • Mel M says:

        @carrie- omg, I’m rolling!

      • hoopjumper says:

@carrie I think I’m going to need all time units presented to me as “Shawshank tunnel” percentages going forward. Amazing.

The thing I love about what they did is now they can do anything they went. Step away, Sussexes! Step on whatever news cycle you want. Rejoice in your freedom.

      • kerwood says:

@Carrie, you win the internet for the day!!!!

      • Lady D says:

Thank you for the laugh, Carrie.

      • Sarah says:

Well then I’m a petty ass right along with you! It’s clear there is no communication between any of their offices (at this point, you would think Kensington and Clarence could at least share a Google calendar?) so I am kind of here for whatever get the prissy press in a tizzy. Meghan? You’re doing amazing, sweetie.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

Royalwatcher: it’s very petty from BOTH OF US wanting that MM steps on Kates’ toes, everytime she has a fantastic new communication about the latest project she’s in. But it feels so damn good!!!!

Anyway, I don’t understand why they are bitching about. MM is not HRH anymore, the close link with BRF is broken, and they don’t work anymore for them.
Is Kate/Charles and I don’t now who else thinking the world is going to stop because they are starting a charity project??!!

    • Some chick says:

Hahahahaha, “Kensington and CH could at least share a google calendar” hahahahahaha.

My work manages to do it! And the Mr! And the Mr’s band!

      But then, we’re not Royal.

      • Utots says:

Seriously. Like the three houses have their heads of PR meet like once a month and coordinate releases. It’s done all the time. So silly, I had to come out of hiding to post.

    • Artsygirl says:

I agree, I. Am actually expecting to see less of them especially this coming months because that is what they want and have the privacy they so needed..they should take a break, get away from the public eye for now and then just make a comeback when they have achieved whatever it is they fought for, which is privacy.

  4. lanne says:

They’re doing a big Sussex launch this spring. We’ll be hearing a lot more from them really soon. I think it’s smart to lay low for a while and then have a big splashy launch of their foundation. Since the Sussexes are no longer part of the rf, how would they know when Cambridge stuff launches? There’s nothing to see here, folks. Just RRs realizing “oh shit! We killed our meal ticket!”

Besides, didn’t we hear about this amazing Broken Britain Early Childhood initiative last year on the same day as the Together cookbook launch? Some folks need to sit their asses down and shut up.

    • Royalwatcher says:

To your last paragraph, yes. Yes we most certainly did. A stupid, rushed, meaningless statement that tried to overshadow the cookbook announcement.

Meghan is living rent free in the Cambs’ heads!! Did you see Kate today in her long camel colored coat and turtleneck? Almost identical to Meghan’s Canada House look? And with a small gold pendant necklace? Rent free, baby! Poor FFK and FFQC…sooooo insecure!!!

      • L84Tea says:

My petty self is snickering all over the place over this…

      • KellyRyan says:

        Laughing royalwatcher.

I smell desperation from the royal family. As to H&M, Buzzfeed article stated their website will be changed soon. Excited to read of their plans.

      • Elizabeth says:

AND carrying a handbag, which she never did until Meghan did it.

      • Shirleygailgal says:

laughing Royalwatcher…living in their heads rent free OMG LOLOLOLOL now I gotta go look at the pics (cause I didn’t just came straight to comments cause I love me some celebitches). Y’all are awesome. And @Kaiser, well done also. Good humour, good day

      • olala says:

Yasss the moment i saw the phhotos i teuhought wow M style head to toe. Camel coat, suede heeled boots, bag. And i am not even following any of them that much

    • notasugarhere says:

The Middleton leak to the Fail (exclusive) happened three days before the completed Together cookbook launched. Harry and Meghan knew to keep that project quiet/hidden from the leakers at KP. The second W&K&KP found out about it? We got the leak to the Fail about Kate’s completely unformed, think of something last minute ‘lifelong passion project’.

      • FicklePickle says:

And if they don’t have anything thy can put out, then they’ll just run a smear campaign to try to ruin the launch like they did with Harry’s Travalyst launch.

3 years of work getting actual CEO’s of important companies to agree to something substantial, a known press embargo, and two weeks before the eco-travel thing launch it’s “hArY aNd MeGhAn ArE eCo-HyPoCrItEs!!!11! WiLl AnD kAtE 5EVARRRR!”

  5. janey says:

terrifically bitchy to post this on the very day we’ve all be waiting (keenly) for. Took Kate years to come up with a vague and meaningless questionnaire while Meghan just bobs in to one of her patronages whilst she was in London, “just passing, thought I’d pop in”.

  6. Sunshine says:

Real question. Why does the media say Meghan posted a photo on Sussex Royal, But for the Cambridge’s it’s their team? In addition to a Sarah L, I believe their is a social media “expert” on the Sussex team that looks after these matters.
Given the Duke’s arrival in Vancouver with a spring in his step, I am sure they are more interested in things other than posting on Instagram.

    • Erinn says:

I tend to believe that for the most part, they take and or select the photos, and write up a draft caption and have someone else on their team proof it all over and get confirmation from the royal couple before posting it. They MIGHT be doing it all on their own – but most organizations or even just public figures have a team at their disposal. I just have a hard time believing that any royal is doing the actual posting and deleting of comments and doing mundane things like that.

    • broodytrudy says:

It’s been very long assumed that Meg does her own social media. I think it’s primarily the tone. It wouldn’t surprise me. I can’t imagine Kate posting for the Cambridge’s, but I bet she does some late night scrolling on party accounts or in search of the perfect Chutney recipe.

      • Sunshine says:

BroodyTrudy. The Sussexes have a social media expert David who worked for Burberry . I assume they liked his work before they hired him. Sarah Latham is also always seen recording the videos and taking the photos. She is the senior person on the team.

As said above. The couple have seen each other for two weeks. I doubt they are focusing on Mathew

    • GuestOne says:

Good point Sunshine. I’ve read many of the royals have private social media accounts so why the assumption Meghan posts directly& not Harry or William, Kate etc?

Also this stepping on each other’s news cycles only seems to apply with the Sussexes. Why isn’t the reporter upset that Kate’s launch conflicts with Charle’s important speech on climate change at Davos? It’s silly. If they actually work consistently some will be out at the same time.

    • Becks1 says:

I know they have a social media director, but I think the general consensus is that Meghan is very involved in it, more so than other royals, which makes sense. She was more involved in social media before the marriage so she is going to have a better idea of how to present Sussex Royal on IG.

    • Royalwatcher says:

Sunshine – because it’s just another way for them to take a dig at Meghan and claim she’s a kardashian or merching or too Hollywood or wants to be an insta star or whatever other stupid crap they like to throw at her or blame her for. It’s a way for them to imply she’s not made of/for royalness and didn’t know how to be a good royal (meanwhile not two peeps (until yesterday) about Peter using his royal connection to shill milk or P Micheal using her HRH when she is selling books and other merchandise).

The Sussexes have a staffer hired to do their SM so I’ll believe it’s him until we hear firsthand that it’s not.

  7. HK9 says:

For some reason I read this headline with glee. They are standing by their word to continue to work for their charities/patronages and they are. Good for them.

  8. Izzy says:

RR are already bitching that they stole the spotlight from Katie Keen’s eagerly awaited new initiative. They don’t even realize the implications of this: H&M are so popular that photos from a week-old visit can overshadow FFQ&K Keen witj no effort whatsoever. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • Royalwatcher says:

Yup! And their motivations are clear (continue to bash Meghan for any and all “reasons”) because they haven’t made the same complaint about Kate stepping on Charles’s toes this week while he’s doing his thing at Davos.

But also, yes it’s hilarious and I love to see that FFQC Kate’s huge project can be overshadowed by 2 pics of Meghan looking at animals. KP…we’ve got a problem!!

      • L84Tea says:

Richard Palmer is trying to claim he’s referring to Charles, not Kate (Twitter comments). Yeah, not buying it.

      • BabsORIG says:

@L84tea, Palmer is full of it. The Davos 2020 forum shouldn’t be referred to as a “initiative” and it certainly isn’t PoW initiative. Palmer is just embarrassed that he got called out for even referring to Kate thingy or whatever it is as “a meaningful initiative”. I guess he’s now attempting to distance himself from the early childhood questionnaire.

      • Belli says:

He specifically said “initiative”, not “speech”. He’s backtracking hard and the conspiracy theorists in his timeline are buying it purely because they despise Meghan.

Side note, how little does this family work if certain royals can apparently claim an entire day for themselves?

    • What’s also interesting is Meghan’s visit was ONLY posted on the Sussex Instagram account. There were no reporters present at the post 🤔. So, any press Meghan’s visit is being given is because the press is picking the post up and writing about it. I’d say it’s the press that’s stepping on Kate’s big day with their relentless stories about Meghan’s visit. 😱

      • Some chick says:

If they wanted to coordinate, Kate’s staff could always just pop off an email asking to!

  9. Aurora says:

Their website indicated they would be abandoning the Royal Rota and working with a greater variety of media in addition to using social media.

I would wait for their Foundation launch to get a better idea of their media plan moving foward.

  10. vanna says:

Pretty sure they will be out and about in a few weeks time and not hiding. I expect less paparazzi photos, but loads of private visits and so on, just like she did these last few weeks. I think Sussexit will lead to more visible activism und events. I highly suspect they cannot wait to start this phase, since there were shackled by Bald Billy, who didn’t want to look lazy in comparison.

  11. Jessica says:

To be honest, it’s shady of Meghan. This is Kate’s big, keen day. Meg should and could have posted yesterday or tomorrow.

    • HMC says:

Lota of people posted on IG that same day, including lots of celebrities. If a single IG photo can steal Katie Keen’s newscycle that doesnt say much for her ability to hold a newscycle. Do we know if the Sussexes even knew she was doing an event and would post about it? I hope it was super shady because I would be, but I doubt it.

    • notasugarhere says:

Since they are no longer part of the working royal family, they wouldn’t know when KP was going to post. And given how everyone at KP has treated them, I doubt they bother to watch what KP is posting.

    • GuestWho says:

Why isn’t it Charles’ big day at Davos that Kate stomped all over? Kate should be elated and grateful that attention is being taken away from her questionable questionnaire.

    • Royalwatcher says:

Actually, it’s shady of Kate. She is junior to Charles and he is at Davos this week. Where is your criticism of Kate? Where is the RRs criticism of Kate?

Why couldn’t she have waited until next week to make this announcement? Why is she so rude and such a publicity hound? Doesn’t she know her place? Charles will be king before she is QC…doesn’t she know this? Who does she think she is?! /s

    • Carrie says:

Nope . Sorry not sorry. M&H no longer have to play by their sad ass rules. Surely also K’s big huge Keen effort should have trumped anything the Sussex’ has going down?

      • Right! Is everyone newsworthy in the world supposed to check in with KP before posting something about themselves to Instagram or website? The Cambridge’s popularity and never-putting-a-foot-wrong BS has been riding on the smear campaign against Meghan they helped orchestrate. They won. She’s gone. What’s the problem here? Oh reality, no ones all that interested in them.

That karma bus is definitely moving and beginning to take on passengers.

      • BeanieBean says:

There are no rules, though, that’s the thing. They’re ad hoc made-up things, specially designed to belittle Meghan as much and as often as possible.

    • Alexandria says:

Isn’t Meghan a MINOR royal? Isn’t Harry the SPARE? All the RRs say they are INSIGNIFICANT and Kate will be Best Kween and William will be Best King? Aren’t Kween and William the saviour of the British Royal family? So why would any of Sussex’s secondary, minor, insignificant news step on the Cambridges’ news cycle since they don’t matter? Why?

      OBSESSED!

    • Green Desert says:

Haha NO. If a post about an animal charity usurps 8 keen years of “hard work” that resulted in a 5 question survey (bad questions at that), all it does is highlight the fact that Kate is a f*cking moron who is not interested in work.

    • olive says:

Kate made a vague announcement about this initiative on the very same day Meghan announced her cookbook project. It’s only fair for Meghan to return the favor to Kate.

  12. Abena Asantewaa says:

If The Sussexes have to get a clearance and all that jazz from KP, before breathing, nothing will get done or posted on their ig. H&M are busy and full of ideas, if the RR and KP, lack belief in their product, and are going to be so sensitive, then they must gird their loins, because, the best is yet to come!

  13. Digital Unicorn says:

OMG that dog is like ‘look at me and suck it b!tches’.

  14. Mumbles says:

I think we will get plenty of photos of the Sussexes. They’ll just be by Splash Media.

    • notasugarhere says:

Try again tumblr. She’s already filed an injunction.

      • GuestWho says:

Geezum, the tumblr mavens are starting early today. They are so tiresome! Their comments are pure projection…what they would do if they had the opportunity and they can’t imagine anyone else having different goals other than just fame/attention. It’s sad when you think about it.

      • notasugarhere says:

But they are easy to spot, and so easily quieted when we bring the facts.

      • GuestWho says:

Can you imagine how painful it would be to try to have an actual conversation with them? The Dunning Kruger Effect in real time.

      • notasugarhere says:

Since the whole anti-Meghan tumblr crowd consists of 10 people talking to each other with multiple user names? Their echo chamber must be deafening.

      • Oh “Notasugarhere”….that is A+ major snark and so damn funny. Thank you.

    • Guest2.0 says:

British Columbia has very strict privacy laws so the paparazzi will be getting shut down soon. In BC you can sue for invasion of privacy without having to prove you’ve suffered harm as a result of the invasion of privacy. So yeah, no. The Sussexes are shutting those unauthorized photos down.

      • GuestWho says:

The tumblr/twitter twits want everyone to believe that Meghan is calling Splash to have her photo taken. Major projection. So stupid.

    • Jaded says:

I live in Victoria. They’ve already sued some of the photogs hovering around outside the house where they’re staying. As Guest2.0 stated, British Columbia has VERY strict rules on invasion of privacy and those American and British reporters who chased them here are getting a ton of push-back from the locals.

      • Guest2.0 says:

@Jaded. Is there anyway those photographers can be banned, say as public nuisances? It just seems ridiculous that they’re all camping outside the Sussexes house and in essence stalking them.

      • Jaded says:

@Guest2.0 – The BC Privacy Act is pretty explicit in what breeches of privacy are actionable. In legalese it is:

(1)It is a tort, actionable without proof of damage, for a person, willfully and without a claim of right, to violate the privacy of another.

(2)The nature and degree of privacy to which a person is entitled in a situation or in relation to a matter is that which is reasonable in the circumstances, giving due regard to the lawful interests of others.

(3)In determining whether the act or conduct of a person is a violation of another’s privacy, regard must be given to the nature, incidence and occasion of the act or conduct and to any domestic or other relationship between the parties.

(4)Without limiting subsections (1) to (3), privacy may be violated by eavesdropping or surveillance, whether or not accomplished by trespass.

So all you have to do is lawyer up and go after the offenders. I think Meghan and Harry have their hands full with the 2 publications they’re currently suing, but the locals here are getting pretty aggressive with the photogs and because they’re interfering with neighbours’ privacy, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that others are getting involved legally to shut these jerks down.

  15. Becks1 says:

I think we will still see the Sussexes a great deal. I think many of their charity visits will be like this – private, with pictures posted later – but I think we will see them at events and fundraisers, especially once their foundation launches.

    • L84Tea says:

I didn’t realize how much I was going to look forward to photos of the Sussexs. I’m so eager to see them living their best life, working, happy, and free.

      • Royalwatcher says:

L84Tea, + a million! I can’t wait to see them living their best lives. And hoping we’ll see Archie at Invictus this year too 🥳

  16. Wilma says:

If you’re serious about Instagram you know that wednesday is one of the best days to post on.

    • tempest prognosticator says:

Well, you learn something new every day.

    • Guest2.0 says:

That’s interesting. Why is Wednesday the best day to post?

      • yellow says:

Might be similar to when I was responsible for company newsletters, and read articles on newsletter tips that Wednesday mornings were best since everyone is tired of working and wants to slack off a bit. Basically it’s the highpoint between the start of the week busy-ness and losing people’s attention for the weekend?

    • What. . .now? says:

Admittedly, I know nothing about Instagram, so I am fascinated why Wednesdays would be the best. Will you explain it to us non-Insta folks? Thanks! 🙂

      • Wilma says:

There are two days that work out best, saturdays and wednesdays. This has to do with a combination of factors, but in short, people tend to interact more with posts on these days. You need interaction on posts for
the instagram algorithm to show those posts to more people and increase your reach, because Instagram doesn’t work with a chronological timeline, but an algorithm that predicts if you will be interested in the posts that the people you follow post and it uses early interactions as an important factor in that. If people interact with a post, it must be interesting to more people, so more people are shown that post. There’s also aesthetics involved, as the algorithm notes what people seem to find most pleasing, but the Sussexes have got that down.

    • Some chick says:

      Fascinating! Thanks, Wilma!

  17. S808 says:

She and Harry shouldn’t have to lay low for Kate to get a smudge of attention. They can’t help who the royal rota and the media continues to focus on. Be more interesting? Come up with actual projects of substance? This time around she should be happy there’s a distraction from that joke of a survey that apparently took 8 years.

  18. In the last 48 hours, the Cambridge’s have barely taken time to draw breath. Meeting with so many “people of color,” for a change (and I’m being snarky there), taking separate tours, hosting and leading events. (All these choice empowering words: leading, hosting. (The KP and BP comm teams are really working those dictionaries.). For 2 people who have been phoning it in for years, I am not sure how long they can keep this frantic pace up. However, this is what they have worked for over at least the last 2 years: a Meghan-free work environment. I don’t even bother to click on the articles anymore as the headlines are all about the Cambridge’s FINALLY being allowed to lead their best lives now that nasty Meghan has been driven out. One I saw yesterday was: the stress is finally gone from Kate and what a difference it has made. I predict 6 months to a year of group hugs between the Cambridge’s, the rest of the royals, and the press before the knives really come out. Right now, everyone of them is desperate to keep kicking Meghan as far to the curb as they can. I for one am amazed at Harry and Meghan’s strength. I am invested enough (like Kaiser) to just get sick to my stomach over the continued hounding. It’s going to be a long newstream of 24 hour/7 day a week relentless hatchet jobs for quite awhile. I hope Harry and Meghan live their lives to suit themselves and roll out their Foundation at their own pace. As to stepping on Kate’s news cycle, we’ve all had this discussion before: It’s only Meghan who is ever vilified.

    • Sally says:

Kathy has been jealous of Meghan since day one. Meghan is smart and beautiful. Meghan is the woman that Kathy can only dream about being. And with Meghan and Harry being so in love and welcoming a new bouncing baby boy, and being extremely HAPPY, Kathy knows she will never have that kind of relationship with Billy. Billy needs to wisen up and leave the ‘Rose’ pruning to professionals. haha Team Harry and Meghan, all the way!!

      • kerwood says:

@Sally, BINGO. Normal Bill and Keen Katie are eaten up with jealousy. And with her sister married to an VERY rich man, which gives her ALL the perks and NONE of the bullshit of being a royal wife, Keen Katie is learning that there are BETTER things than being a future Queen Consort. If there even is a monarchy by the time Normal Bill’s time comes around.

      • Bren says:

I don’t believe Kate is jealous of Meghan. If anyone is jealous of Meghan, it’s William. Meghan’s presence only highlighted the fact that Kate is unremarkable in flashing neon lights. That shook William, Carole Middleton, and the courtiers to core more than Kate herself. Don’t get me wrong, Kate certainly did her part by playing along to bury Meghan, but if Kate had her way I think she would rather be left alone to raise her children and dressing up in fancy clothes on occasion without having to put in too much time or effort to be productive.

      • notasugarhere says:

Kate has always been jealous of other woman, always been a mean girl. She and Carole thought all Kate had to do what show up and she’d be loved like Diana. Meghan showing up, getting right to work from the beginning, and doing two major projects in a year? She barely had to try and she made Kate look bad.

      • Lucy De Blois says:

Bren certainly got a point. William obviously don’t see MM with good eyes and he has all the reasons to want her out: first, the color (let’s put the masks down); second, she is a low middle class girl working in movies and all; third, she knows (because her profession) to place herself in front of cameras and get the best of it; she likes to work and produce results (long habit of being low-middle class and having a contract on enterteinainment), he couldn’t boss her around (and for crying out loud, he displays all the type of liking it).
Ok. Now I dare anyone to give me one reason for him to like her.

      • notasugarhere says:

Because she makes his brother happy?

Nope, William cannot even appreciate that. Every time he looks and Harry and Meghan, he knows deep inside he settled for a business arrangement in his own marriage.

  19. vanna says:

oh btw sussexroyal instagram now has more follwers than kensingtonroyal. KP will be so pissed

    • notasugarhere says:

Don’t worry, KP will buy more bots today.

      • Diane says:

Nota, so true. Can’t have them catching up to the Cambridges. I wonder how much the true blue royals will “jump” ahead of these upstarts with dedicated*cough*bought*cough* followers once this is noted.

    • Guest2.0 says:

Question. Do you think any of the new Sussex Instagram posters are actually the crazy haters who just want to harass them and leave nasty messages on their Instagram page?

      • Sass says:

@Guest2.0 I mean if that’s how these idiots wanna spend their time I guess they can go ahead letting Meghan consume them that much, all it does is boost the SussexRoyal profile more.

      • I just joined and I’m Team Sussex.

      • Royalwatcher says:

I’ll bet a lot of the new ones are Canadian followers since they’ve now relocated there. I wonder if there is a way to map where the followers are from?

  20. notasugarhere says:

But but, where are all of the protests about Charles taking a private jet to Davos to talk about climate change? Surely all of you who attacked Harry and Meghan for taking a private plane with paid-for carbon offsets are furious about Charles too? Or the W&K empty easy jet PR fiasco? No?

    crickets

    • Royalwatcher says:

      🦗🦗🦗

    • Sofia says:

There were actually snarky articles about this both in the Mail and the Sun today, calculating how many extra kilos of emissions this caused. Good, hypocrisy needs to be called out. There just is no excuse at all for the use of private jets anymore. We are in the midst of the Climate Crisis that already has severe impacts on the lives and livelihoods of many vulnerable populations. All these celebrities preaching about Climate e because it is on trend while at the same time jetting around and using yachts make me sick.

      • notasugarhere says:

Sarcasm doesn’t translate well in print, does it?

Where are all the people who were on here, tearing Harry and Meghan apart? Don’t see them complaining about Charles on the Charles thread.

    • What. . .now? says:

Exactly. Where is all the outrage?

      Crickets, indeed.

  21. lobstah says:

Does anyone follow Gary Janetti on Insta? He’s got a new animated series coming out about the Royal Fam which looks super funny!

    • What. . .now? says:

I think he’s amusing sometimes, but sometimes I find his “comedy” needlessly unkind.

    • olive says:

      really not a fan.

    • Royalwatcher says:

Personally, I think he’s vile. Hasn’t he made gay “jokes” about George and fat “jokes” about Charlotte? Not to mention his nasty comments about Meghan. I hope there is pushback to this and his show is cancelled before getting off the ground. I don’t find him funny in the least (and am surprised the Cambs aren’t suing to stop a show about their minor child!!) and I side eye all the celebrities who like his IG posts.

  22. liriel says:

Honestly, when I saw today that Kate finally stepped in I thought that Meghan is petty. I’d be too but let’s be honest here, almost everyone in the firm was petty. I don’t know we’ve seen Meghan A LOT but this time Kate does something right and Meghan wants to split headlines. I feel like she could do this in a few days. You have to think about the firm, don’t rock the boat too much.

    • GuestWho says:

Kate hasn’t actually DONE something right. This roll out is nonsense from a perpetual lightweight. She should be grateful that there is something (made up) to rail at Meghan about. Is Kate stepping on Charles’ time in Davos pettiness? Disingenuous complaint is disingenuous.

    • Carrie says:

      You’re kidding right?

    • notasugarhere says:

Harry and Meghan are no longer part of that Firm, and are not required to pay attention to anything they are doing. Nor are they required to keep dimming their light so the dimmest can attempt to shine.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

Sounds like a Cambridge problem. They’ve had 8 years to hone their popularity. They’ve done nothing but be lazy and privileged. Chickens coming home to roost.

    • Bebe says:

      You’re right, she could have

    • swirlmamad says:

Again….if Meghan and Harry are operating separately from the rest of the RF now, how on earth are they supposed to know when W&K are launching what and when???? I honestly don’t think this was done to step on Kate’s toes. They are doing what they said they would do and living their new life. The BM is to blame here for overshadowing Kate by pouncing on anything Meghan says or does.

      • Bohemian Angel says:

Right…. I can’t believe people getting upset at Meghan for supposedly overshadowing their glorious bright white princess! Did Charles overshadow here too or did she overshadow Charles? No complaints about that but the brown girl gets called petty and bitchy, STFU!
The british media got what they wanted, they ran the black American out of the country, why are they still focusing on her and not their precious ffqc and her BIG launch??? Fix Broken Britain my arse, to fix this country we need the tories out and get many kids out of child poverty for a start!

    • MsIam says:

Kate was all over the internet on Monday twirling around in her “fabulous” red dress. She has countless articles written about how “she never put a foot wrong” . So the Sussexes post a couple of pictures on their IG account and it all falls apart for Kate? She must be living in a house of cards then. Perhaps the impeachment hearings should be paused in honor of Kate’s survey too?

    • L4frimaire says:

She doesn’t owe them anything. They have no concern for her but she’s supposed to worry about Kate. Was she told in advance about Kate’s little launch? No one cares! We have real news happening.

    • Sarah says:

What did Kate do “right”? Show up somewhere in support of the absolute bare minimum? Present this EIGHT YEARS of work with a straight face? Please.

  23. Lisa says:

I am glad to see Meghan is continuing to be supportive of her patronages and it is rumored that there may be a project coming together soon.

  24. THEREALME says:

I guess this is the new way forward then. Visits in “secret” then posting them later on the IG account? It works but the mainstream will not see them unless the tabloids or news pick them up. Actually only a small percent of people are on Instagram. 11 million followers in a world of 6 billion. Most people still get info from tv/newspapers. It will be interesting how they engage the media then because they do need them to make this whole thing work for them. The US has a very different way than Britain the media can be very in your face in the US. And I think that is where they are headed? Hollywood? There is no privacy there and any lawsuit in Hollywood about privacy wouldn’t impress much. I really don’t see them in a large mansion in Canada visiting shelters for the next number of years. As for the timing of the post. Since it is still a royal site – SussexRoyal they should confer with other royals. Once the royal is gone which I am pretty sure they will want the royal off [can’t see Harry and Meghan wanting to use a royal title when they want to make it on their own steam] what they do no longer matters. Obviously they can ultimately to whatever they want but at the same time they should expect their posts to be analyzed and talked about and sometimes it will be snarky – No surprise there.

    • kerwood says:

      @THEREALME, hi there.

You’re clearly not very familiar with Canada, but here in the ‘great White north’, we have things called ‘airports’, where really big flying machines called ‘airplanes’ take off and land all the time.

It appears that you think living in Canada is a fate worse than death but more than 36 million of us think it’s really nice. I’m sure that Harry and Meghan love the idea of living in a province (it’s like a ‘state’, but not) where they have privacy laws to keep the paps away.

As for the ‘going Hollywood’, why would Harry and Meghan move to Hollywood when Hollywood is already banging on their door? I’m sure that Normal Bill and Keen Katie would kill to work with Hollywood (didn’t they visit on their honeymoon to gawk at movie stars), but Normal Bill is boring and Keen Katie can’t put two coherent sentences together.

    • Jaded says:

Do you honestly think all they can do in Canada is visit shelters? We have a huge, cosmopolitan society here and they could do wonders with their foundation. They can attract heads of big corporations, celebrities and politicians to showcase their WORK for numerous worthy charities. Yes, Meghan likes to get granular and go to the underfunded but necessary women’s shelters, animal rescue organizations, etc. but these two have star power and Canada isn’t some hokey backwater of toque-wearing hosers.

      • Shirleygailgal says:

Well, damn, best take off my billy boots and toque LOL Where do these folks think Canada is? I just watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the first time and found Dame Maggie’s character just gross (as she was meant to be) but was ROTFL when she said “there’s a BROWN person in my room”….oh, her delivery was perfect! And thankfully, she got over herself (the character did) and it turned out to be the start of a beautiful friendship.

    • MsIam says:

Actually 11 million and growing. And yes they can reach the rest of the world outside of using the British tabloids. Younger people especially are not going to grandma and grandpa’s paper for all of their information anymore.

    • notasugarhere says:

They are no longer part of the working royal family, they get to do whatever they want with the IG account they have.

None of the royals in the BRF confer with each other, that is one of their many problems. They all schedule their own work without informing each other or keeping a central calendar. We end up with 2-3 royals visiting the same town the same day, all for different reasons, because there is no coordination.

    • L4frimaire says:

This whole thing literally just happened and is still being debated in the UK. Do we want them holding press conferences and staging events already? They need time to breathe and collect themselves. A few blurbs on Instagram here and there is fine for now. Even though the US press is aggressive, the tabloids don’t hold sway over opinion, we have an election looming and impeachment proceedings. For entertainment there is the Super Bowl and Oscars. It’s a much bigger country so regardless of the press, the Sussexes will not be the main focus over here. I think we need to stop second guessing them and not worry too much about their media strategy right now. Harry still has jet lag. We are so thirsty LOL.

  25. A Guest says:

One look at Richard Palmer’s Twitter feed, tells you everything you need to know about him. He interacts with some of the most vile and angry Meghan haters. The original “Megxits” who have accused her of faking her pregnancy, being one of Epstein’s girls, and all manner of bullshit.

I also suspect he has more than one sock-puppet account which he uses to trash Meghan daily. It’s pretty much accepted that many of the RRs and some courtiers do this. One reporter actually got caught responding to himself under his own name and not another account. He then claimed he was “hacked”.

Palmer can take his outrage and shove it.

    • GuestWho says:

Think about the position that Palmer (and others) has put himself in…he’s not a young man, so at the end of his career he has become a clearing house for bulls**t rumors, followed by unhinged, racist conspiracy theorists. I’m guessing that this is not the direction he thought his gossip career would go. That’s gotta sting. And that pleases me.

    • L84Tea says:

I looked today and they’re all saying she was carrying a doll in the baby carrier. They are completely unhinged!! I mean, Archie is a flesh and blood person that we’ve all seen with our own two eyes, and yet they still don’t believe he’s real. It just takes my breath away.

      • So who do they think Harry was holding up in the most recent picture of him and Archie? Do they think it was a friends child and that Harry is just pretending he has a son? Do they think the Queen is in on it too? After all there is a photo of her with Archie and she has referenced him by name. I’ll tell you there is little to no brainwave activity in most of the idiots.

      • Lady D says:

Someone said it wasn’t Archie, it was a girl baby because he was wearing tights under his jeans.

  26. MeghanNotMarkle says:

Good for Meghan. They’re no longer part of the RF and should post whatever they want, whenever they want.

  27. qtpi says:

If Kate and William (and her parents) were doing shady shit in the background to newspapers then I am perfectly ok with this.

  28. kerwood says:

If the Duchess of Sussex’ visit to an animal shelter, overshadows the release of Keen Katie’s SAD LITTLE SURVEY, then maybe Katie should have worked a little harder on it. I mean, maybe her STAFF should have worked harder on it.

Meghan doesn’t owe the Keen one a fucking thing. If Keen Katie wants to compete with Meghan, she needs to WORK HARDER. And since we already know that Keenie is incapable of hard work, it looks like MEGHAN WINS

    • What. . .now? says:

      This right here. +10000!!

    • JaneBee87 says:

@Kerwood +11111 It is now officially the SAD LITTLE SURVEY!

    • Royalwatcher says:

Yes!!!!! + a million kerwood!!! If Kate’s huge earth shattering initiative can be knocked off the front pages by 2 pics of Meghan and dogs then KP and the Cambs are in for a world of hurt when the Sussexes really start working.

  29. Jaded says:

The gloves are off now, something I don’t think either of the Cambridges realized. The Sussex’s work will continue to overshadow Katie Keen’s and Normal Bill’s pathetic attempts to look modern and relevant. They are and will continue to be the worst kind of royals – lazy, inept and spoiled.

  30. boobra says:

i am loving this footloose and fancy free Meghan, she looks happy – like how you feel when your nasty in laws and outlaws leave after the holidays

  31. sue denim says:

I’ve been thinking about abuse, and the pressure to dim your light, all to make the powers that be comfortable and to keep ourselves safe, and we as women are told it so often in so many contexts. But that never was enough for those in power, and it never kept us safe, and we know that now post Weinstein et al. So Kate has been playing old school, and maybe was a bit dim to begin with anyway, but I’m so inspired by H&M’s decision to find a new stage where they can let their full light shine. Here’s hoping..

  32. Senator Fan says:

I agree with a comment upthread that the different palaces need to coordinate better with their PR and SM accounts. It makes them all look stupid, unprofessional and petty. Kate and Charles team should have been in communication so these things don’t happen. I don’t think Meghan intentionally stepped on Kate’s toes in posting these pics. If it continues to happen then it will be seen as an issue but no need to jump to conclusions out of the gate. People see what they want to see and see and think everything one person does is in direct competition with other family members. And RR’s and the Fail will always come for Meghan. They are hateful assholes and should be ignored.

  33. blunt talker says:

People let me tell you Queen Liz’s grandson Peter Phillips made a commercial selling milk in China and got paid for it and it used his royal connections in the ad. He has no title and his mother is the queen’s daughter-Anne. What’s good for Meghan/Harry should be good for all the royals title or not. Double standard indeed. Prince Charles just flew to Davos for a environment conference-by private jet.-Double standard if anyone thinks he is going to fly commercial. Pounce people Pounce.
