Hats off to Brad Pitt’s PR team, they have really earned their paychecks over the past five months or so. We went from talking about how Brad’s estranged wife ghosted him and how his children hate him and don’t want anything to do with him to talking about whether he and Jennifer Aniston are going to get remarried because they’re clearly still in love (with the publicity they get from being around each other). From the Daily Mirror:
Hollywood’s former golden couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are back in love, according to their closest friends. They claim the superstar exes dated at least five times prior to their moving screen reunion last weekend… including a secret tryst at Jen’s Bel Air mansion over the Christmas holiday.
A confidante of the former Friends actress reveals: “I don’t think she’s ever really stopped loving him, even though he broke her heart when he left her for Angelina Jolie. It has taken a long time but she has forgiven him for everything – forgiveness has been a big part of them moving on.”
And a long-time associate of Brad’s movie production company Plan B confirms: “All he can talk about is Jen. They have reignited their romance and I haven’t seen either of them this happy in years.”
I’m so tired of this and I’ve already told the peeps what I think is happening. Maybe I just need to sit back and ride the wave of manufactured romantic drama and Oscar strategy. Maybe I should just enjoy the little fairytale the elves at CAA have worked so hard on. But here’s the thing: I can’t. Because I know the Brad & Jen fairytale is not just about Oscar campaigning or changing the subject away from Angelina Jolie, the six Jolie-Pitt kids, substance abuse and other kinds of abuse. Brad is also trying to change the subject away from his utter abdication of responsibility for Make It Right NOLA, the charity he founded. He spent years soaking up publicity for MIR, and then when it all went to hell, he pretended he didn’t have anything to do with it. He’s been sued for the shoddy, dangerous construction on the MIR houses. And now it looks like the toxic mold (from the shoddy homes) has killed someone:
These shocking images and video show the disgusting state of Brad Pitt’s charity’s abandoned office in the heart of the New Orleans neighborhood he promised to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. Over the last couple of years, that promise has looked increasingly empty, as the people who bought the houses from his non-profit Make it Right foundation built in the Lower Ninth Ward have complained of them falling apart and being a serious health hazard.
Now the family of Make It Right homeowner Trudy Green are claiming that the toxic mold played a major part in her death in January 2018 and have called on A-Lister Brad and his charity to stop the ‘epidemic’, which may lead to others losing their lives. In an exclusive interview, her brother-in-law, Reverend Charles Duplessis, who lives and runs a church in the area, says Make It Right have to make homeowners’ health its priority, so there aren’t anymore untimely deaths or serious illnesses.
“There ought to be someone who is checking the health of all these people with problems. It won’t bring Trudy back, but when you have an epidemic, you try to help those that are a part of it,” Rev. Charles told Sun Online. “If it went on with Trudy, how many other people are sick and could die? If it can be stopped, then people will be able to live longer. Where there’s injustice, there has to be justice. Sometimes it takes more than one voice, we need people to say that they want not just their houses examined, but their health, that’s much more important. To use the charity’s words, they have to make the houses right.”
In another case, a child has been reportedly left brain damaged due to the high levels of mold in his family’s house, while other residents are known to have severe respiratory problems with some needing an oxygen tank to breathe.
Brad has asked to be taken off the class-action lawsuit against MIR, filed by the low-income home owners who were trapped in 30-year mortgages for homes that fell apart in a year. Again, this was a foundation Brad FOUNDED. He was the face of it. He raised money for it. And then he got bored and walked away and no one is supposed to talk about that. We’re supposed to talk about Jennifer Aniston and whether Brad is on Tinder (he is not, it’s just something his speechwriters came up with). People really do let attractive white men get away with EVERYTHING.

I feel horrible for those whom the project was meant to help.
People love to complain about charity salaries and overhead, but this is an excellent example of why charities need to be staffed by competent professionals who are adequately equipped to do their jobs. Getting involved in people’s lives isn’t for dilettantes who want to “make a difference.” Pitt’s arrogance may have cost a woman her life. Does he get that?

And it was all about stoking his ego – he got to stand there and look concerned on the cover Architectural Digest, buddy up to big name designers, get all the good publicity, have fundraiser parties, etc.
I’ve said from day one, he should have given his money and time to established groups who were already there working and doing more for more people for less money. They raised MILLIONS, and built crap, apparently. Think of what those millions and publicity could have done for something like Habitat for Humanity or SBP.
I’m so sorry for those suffering and stuck in the bad houses. I hope they get some justice.
SBP is still out here doing amazing work wherever there’s disaster, and Make It Right NOLA is a gd stain on our community.

Yup, he started it in 2005 after hurricane Katrina, right after he and Angelina became a couple. I remember his interviews from that time. He was all: I’m so sick of being all about myself, I want to be useful, I want to help.
Seems like he wanted to be that person because that was the only way for him to be with Angelina, now he is back to being all about himself. He just wants to sweep Make It Right under the rug and he is quite successful about it. I don’t have to tell anyone that if there was any problem, even minor, with any of Angelina’s causes, it would be attack from all sides on her.

I liked him too and it’s a real shame. I think that he and Angelina really loved each other and at one point had a great family life. Addiction is a terrible thing and it’s good that he’s getting help. But to stoop so low as to throw the mother of your children under the bus, REPEATEDLY is something that I’ll never forget. Right now he stinks of desperation and it’s not a good look.
@Kerwood I think they really loved each other too. But I think this about more than just addiction. This is about someone who doesn’t like being held accountable for anything. Its about toxic white masculinity and how Hollywood – and the rest of us- aid and abet it. It’s about how quickly we like to vilify a woman (Angelina) and mother for protecting her kids rather than hold the man and father responsible. Brad is just one example of this. Look at Johnny Depp. Even with EVIDENCE of his abuse people still call Amber Heard a liar to this day. And Brad gets to play victim and golden boy (despite being 55 years old – grow tf up Brad) and everyone revels in the narrative that Jennifer- the good girl- finally has victory over the bad girl- Angelina. I know people who are eating this narrative up and it’s disgusting. And no one talks about what happened on that f-cking plane that would make a woman flee with her kids and just the clothes on their backs. Everyone has conveniently forgotten that he couldnt be alone with his kids for three years. Or that half of them refuse to be around him. But he will get his Oscar. Because Hollywood and America love their white male redemption story.

Luckily for Brad Pitt, most of the people who live in the shacks he built are Black. Most Anniston-Pitt fans aren’t going to lose much sleep over them. There weren’t many Black people on friends and Anniston’s REAL LIFE friends had a lot to say about Brad’s non-White children. This tragic news shouldn’t put a dent in his Oscar campaign.

I think movies are elevated to “art” status far too easily and often. Some are pure exploitative trash. How many more gunfights and murders do we really need to see in the name of art? How many Dead Girls? How much fake blood?
Sure, art is totally worthwhile to society. (I say this as an amateur artist myself.) But it has been used as a shield to defend terrible people – Polanski, Woody Allen, and Brad here. That’s disrespectful to Art.

I always wondered how Canadian bag of hot air Mike Holmes actually managed to avoid the spotlight on this one. “Make It Right” is his trademarked tagline, and I thought he was involved in this from the bottom up. However, it appears that Brad used the term for his foundation despite the trademark, and Holmes decided to participate rather than sue – but he only built one home for the project (which is supposedly without issues). I bet Holmes is kicking himself now for not challenging the trademark violation, because it is truly damaging to his reputation to be associated with this – up until today’s googling, I was certainly judging him harsher for being (I supposed) a hypocrite.
I wondered about that myself. I have a feeling that this fiasco is why Mike Holmes suddenly decided he cared about African children.

I am pretty sure I read that Mike Holmes was only involved a bit with one home, and was done pretty early on. And, that his work was fine. Which, if you have ever seen his show, he goes overboard on renovations etc. He drives a friend’s brother crazy (the bro works for a construction supply place) because of his overboard approach on renovations that people think are necessary.

Re: Holmes’ methods, they drive me crazy and even though I haven’t thought about the man for years, I apparently still have Feelings. The number of kitchens and bathrooms we saw him destroy on his show without ever removing the brand new fixtures carefully enough so that they could be donated to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, let alone reused by the homeowner—! So wasteful.
I also wonder of Holmes peaced out from more work with Pitt & Co once he saw the poor quality of work being done. Holmes is a shameless self-promoter, but if you have seen his show, his standards are crazy high. I can’t imagine him not wanting to get more attention by palling around with Brad Pitt, but maybe Holmes saw the crappy work and cut his losses. His whole brand is wrapped up in quality, after all.

He really could – stand up and say, we stand by our mission and will do whatever it takes to fix it. I’m sure the foundation had insurance, and frankly he could kick in some of his personal fortune. If I were in his position, I would. I wouldn’t rest until those people had the safe, healthy homes they were promised (and paid for, though I think some financial shenanigans happened there, as those people were paying big mortgages and yet millions and millions were raised).

Don’t get involved in anything you’re not going to be 100% there to see it through. This stuff is serious. It’s the same story as always, for development and charity work: local, ground-up knowledge and true commitment beats humanitarians and do-gooders who come flying in (with the paps) for a few months/years and leave. Development is very, very hard. He should have just raised and donated the money to a professional LOCAL outfit with the right skills, commitment, and local knowledge. His charity people are incompetent and he’s also responsible. But I don’t doubt he had the right intentions at the start.

Schadenfreude – In the women’s restroom at an eatery in Springfield, MO there are multiple photo portraits of BP….on the walls and in the stalls, hung over the toilets. It’s his hometown so I suppose it is some kind of bizarre homage. Just wow.
I actually do think Jen and Pitt have been getting it on physically on a casual basis. He’s kind of recovering from a bunch of things and she’s a power player who knew him way back when and still loves him (IMO). I think they’re friends with random-time benefits and have agreed to keep it zipped up and not serious or long term. I think they spend a lot of time one on one at the very least. The Mirror leak was oddly detailed, from ex-plan-b source and her side as well. Aside, for gossip’s sake, his niece retweeted a happy 50th b’day message re Aniston’s Feb 2019 bday, from that “grey jumper incredible legs” photoshoot / mag spread (Elle, Dec ’18 sorry) on Twitter. His niece(s) seem to make it clear they still love Aniston.
I find his whole sorry existence pitiful but he will be helmed again and he and Aniston will make waves again until he bores of her and Jolie will go on with her life and raise those kids and be happy. But Jolie will be vilified
