Mindy Kaling went to the Oscars as a presenter, and she was honestly one of my favorite looks of the night. Y’all know how I feel about yellow/mustard and orange on the red carpet… those are very difficult colors to pull off for most women, but here’s Mindy in a muted mustard Dolce & Gabbana gown and… it worked? The shade was just right for her coloring and the cut was fantastic. The only thing I’ll nitpick about the dress is that it shouldn’t have been one-shouldered. It should have had two cap sleeves, then it would have been perfect for her. But everything was working… great hair, great makeup, and some absolutely incredible Chopard diamonds. That statement necklace, my lord!!! The one other bad thing: BJ Novak was her Oscar date. I love you, Mindy, but this is way too much emotional baggage.
Kaitlyn Dever in a sustainable Louis Vuitton. I think Dever is so pretty and she clearly wanted to wear something environmentally-friendly, but… was this it? I would have much preferred to see her in something vintage. The bust was so unflattering on this!!
Beanie Feldstein wore a custom Miu Miu gown and I loved this! I’ve found Beanie’s style so hit-or-miss this awards season, but she totally nailed it here. Glamorous, with a vintage flair, and very flattering.

Mindy was my best dressed. Beanie could have used a red lip, wouldve gone great with her glamorous vintage feel hair and gown. Kaitlyns cat eye was killer.
Mindy’s dress and jewels were gorgeous. Minday’s Insane plastic surgery mouth and overinflated lips were distracting and gross during interviews. It seriously looked like she had been punched and couldn’t speak clearly through the swelling.
@Jane I don’t get why Mindy is doing this to her face! She is naturally very pretty. She doesn’t need to do this.
Agreed, CW. She’s smart a pretty and clearly fine with not fitting the “norm”, so why on god’s green earth does she do the Kardasian lip thing?? It’s absolutely antithetical to everything I liked about her.
Loved Mindy’s dress and she wore it beautifully. But what is going on with her lips? Thought Beanie’s dress was beautifully styled for her.
I agree wholeheartedly with Beanie needing a red lip to stand out with that dress. She looked to be going vintage and a red lip would have sealed the deal!
Mindy looked amazing, from head to toe! The color was perfect on her. As for Kaitlyn dress should have been a different color as this red did not agree with her skin tone. She should have selected a jewel of blues and greens or maybe a deep burgundy.

I’m gonna nitpick Mindy’s foundation as being too opaque and a half a shade too light. She has gorgeous skin, and it would look better with a dewier / less powdery finish. The makeup artists on the later seasons of The Office had a great look on lock for her, I wish one of them had been doing her Oscars makeup here.

But the color made it a bit different, and the fit was fantastic. Whether I’ve seen it or not, I thought she looked terrific. One of my very favorites of the evening.
Yeah, she looked good, but that dress is nothing special at all. But she’s rocking it and you can tell she feels great, which adds so much to any look.
@SCollins I agree. If Cate Blanchett wore this we’d be hugely disappointed. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before. But major props for wearing a gorgeous color and having a perfect fit. We don’t see either enough!
Yea agree! This is a nice dress in a nice color. It fits well. But nowhere near best dressed for me just because there is nothing new or surprising about it. Just a pretty standard dress, well executed.
Mindy is one of my best dressed, I gasped out loud when I saw her! Beautiful gown, makeup and hair, just gorgeous.
Beanie also looks amazing, her gown fits her to perfection.

I don’t think Beanie nailed it -not fully anyway. It looks like the straps are too tight and she’s hulking forward very uncomfortably. Either she has some of the worst posture out there, or that dress didn’t fit properly. I think the idea of the gown is fantastic – and from the bust down it looks great on her. But that top portion looks like a complete mess. And I say that as someone who’s overweight and who has kind of narrow shoulders which makes things more difficult, so I get that it can be tricky.
Love Mindy’s look, though. I have always thought she looks fantastic in yellow.
Agree with you about Beanie’s look. To me the top looks frumpy, especially in the first pic. It may just be the way she is standing.
Mindy’s dress was gorgeous. Yes we have seen similar dresses countless times before, but this one fit her perfectly and the color was perfect, and that necklace….just amazing.

I don’t know Jane, I’m on the fence here – on her IG she’s pretty good at disclosing paid endorsements (e.g. Johnnie Walker (!!!?)). & in her “stories’ she is plugging Jessica’s new show on CTV, urging people to tune in. Pretty loyal friend – or maybe a case of tit for tat (styling in exchange for promo’ing on insta)?

It is odd. I think he thought he was going to get ahead of her career-wise, and didn’t. Now she’s the successful one and he is the hanger-on looking for relevance. And using her feelings to do it. Gross. She could do soooo much better.

This is why I’m all about classic gowns and lines. Mindy looked gorgeous and I loved the one shoulder. Sometimes cap sleeves can come across as matronly to me so this was refreshing and still young. Meanwhile people are trying to be so cutting edge and walking around like a box of used Kleenex. Some of the gowns last night were … ugh.

All three ladies are gorgeous. I especially loved Mindy’s outfit. That yellow was awesome with here golden undertone skin. The jewellery, while completely gorgeous, was too white to me for this dress and her warm skin. I would have loved to have seen some kind of necklace full of topaz or citrine, or some kind of orange like fire opals. But the dress was perfect for her. Beanie’s was perfect for her. Lady in red’s dress didn’t fit well, and that red was far too saturated for her delicate colour. But OMG, her makeup was stellar. I should be so lucky as to be half a lovely as any one of them, though!

Mindy has been looking good on the red carpet lately. The dress is gorgeous but disappointed it’s Dolce and Gabbana because they are such unpleasant people. Talent and virtue can be mutually exclusive.
